What a Charming whimsical concept! Thank you, Stephanie - especially appreciate your techniques for fine-stitching the yo-yos in the muddle bulkier sections of the quilt. 👏🥰
My 92 year old neighbor has started again sewing yo yos. They are fun to make and almost all cotton fabrics....any colors....look great together. Also, you can take the project with you any where! Have fun and relax!
It’s very dainty, but not overly so. I wonder, will using a little glue instead of straight pins work? We are going to see these yo-yos after gluing. Saves me time. Also, would using the zigzag stitch on the machine be ok? You still they the gathers on the yo-yos. I’m going try this on a pillow. 😊
I discovered fabric glue when doing a really large project, and it really was nice to use. I have seen examples of yo yos top stitched, but have never tried it. I agree with you about doing a smaller project (pillow) first. Thanks for commenting!
This is adorable, Stephanie, love the colours! How do you make your yo-yo's so they are durable? I always worry about that centre gathering coming undone.
I do the centers a couple of ways. One I leave a longer tail of thread when I start to gather; when I get to the end, I leave the end longer. Then tie the two several times in a knot. My neighbor, who is 92, can't pull that well and she found she could run the threads over and over in one spot. We have not trouble with this way either. Hope these help! You will find that no matter what colors you use, the projects look great!
I thought I had all of the yo yo videos in a playlist...but not now. So, I made a yo yo related playlist. Try that. The older videos have 'how to'. Enjoy!
Such a lovely idea - Thank you for showing this.
You are so welcome!

Thank you! 😊
I liked this, I'm trying to get into quilting and this one looks easy enough to try, time consuming obviously, but easy to start with, ty🥰🤗

Great to do if you like 'hand' work.
I bet Hexies would look cute too ❤️
I have a box of hexies I could use to try this out. I love hand piecing. Thank you for sharing!
You amaze me!! This is beautiful!! I love your creative energy.
I had just too many yo-yos and loved how any of the colors go together!
