- What do you do when you have a stripped/seized/rounded off bolts? This is my normal approach when the bolt-outs don't work. See below for a list of tools I used. This a 2002 Ford F150 with a 4.2L.
Here are the Tools I used:
IR Angle Grinder: amzn.to/2IqpMMr
Cut Off Wheel Arbor: amzn.to/2PouBXz
Craftsman 6 Piece Bolt-Out Set w/Case: amzn.to/2V1y7fC

I miss working on my old 94 Honda Accord!!! The small jobs are somewhat easy and financial friendly!!! Keep at it and enjoy those old cars
That's the plan!
Way to hang in there Tom. Some work isn't very pleasurable but necessary. You got it.
What? I doesn't get any funner than this!
I’m currently preparing to tackle a similar issue the the alternator pivot bolt on my 66 C10. Been soaking in PB all morning, about to hit it with a propane torch and rotohammer.
Makes me wanna flip my car over and try to push the wrench properly 😂😂
Same man😂😂
Literally🤣🤣
For real though 😂
😂😂
Electrolysis always use Antiseize on the threads when putting a new bolt.
I got the same problem on my 92 Bronco 5.0L. The soft top bolt just rounded with a 1/2" bolt extractor. Thinking about heating it with a 1200F Master heat gun, then trying to pound on a 12mm bolt extractor. Hoping that and my impact wrench will twist it off. What was the angle grinder you used?
It was an Ingersol Rand but any brand will work. Even the cheap Harbor Freight one.
GOOD JOB!! what vehicel was that nasty, rusted starter on??
2002 F150 with 4.2
It I notice a bolt is starting to get rounded I instantly bust out my angle grinder because it ain’t worth the rise in blood pressure trying to get them with every other tool you could think of.
Uh-oh tools!!! Lol! I'm using that one for sure!
I hate 12 point sockets
I like them when the don't strip things out.
Take a bigger nut drill out threads slip over stripped nut, tack weld it and get a bigger socket to fit new nut and wrench it off
Yeah that seems a whole lot easier. 8-|
Good pipe wrench
Thanks 👍
No way Im working on that exact Model of truck. My grandfathers 2004 4.2L F150 and that same bolt is rounded it’s so annoying but I’ll trying cutting it too or use a file
Yeah it sucks but you will get it!
You should’ve used a small pipe wrench
Never work
You don't know how to use a pipe wrench then, a good pipe wrench in experienced hand will grip super tite, pipe wrenches are meant to grab round pipe and bite@@frugalprepper
I got smaw problem changing oil filter housing in 328 bmw
I know a junk yard that will take if for free, and put it in its natural habitat, and they even come and tow it.
Hey Tom! In a previous video (can't remember which one) you replied to me in a comment giving me the name of the company that makes the Craftsman striking pry bars. Do you remember the name of that company? Thanks
Zib187 Wilde - you can get them at Walmart under the Hyper Tough Brand but only the 3 smaller ones. They don’t have the big ones.
I have an Audi A4 B7 and I removed everything except the top bolt, ive damn near lifted the car trying to break it loose, it is so stuck on there it's ridiculous. Even called a mechanic, and he's having issues too. Even broke a wrench trying to remove it. VW parts are nothing if not durable like damn. Idk what else to do if he can't remove it
If you don’t mind me asking, did you ever find a solution and if so, what worked?
Sounds like its Gudentite
@@jeffwheeler8758sorry I didn't even know you posted a reply, we just kept yanking on it with a wrench till it eventually after like 3 days it came loose. It sucked, I think we sprayed some WD 40 on it too but I'm not sure about that lol
The hard part is over
Maybe you can help me . I need help I have a 05 Scion TC got the bolts off the starter but the starter won’t come out. Any suggestions will be helpful trying to do the work myself rather pay for the labor from a mechanic.
I've never done one on a Scion, but in general look a the new starter to make absolutely sure you got all the bolts that hold it one and wack on it with a hammer till she comes out.
Either I have gone dead or something is wrong with your volume
I hope it's my volume. Going dead sucks!
Fun times
Nothing is clear
Don't worry the sun will come out tomorrow!
Talk to much get to it
I like that song.
hey dude im changing my start on my 05 5.4 and my issue is the the nut is stuck to the ground wire and cant break it free any ideas? gonna go buy a torch?
Heating it always helps if you can get to it and get it hot enough. Impacting it also helps it break free without snapping it off. I have a Ingersoll Rand 2015MAX that I use to get in tight places to impact with.
