    this is why I never let people change my oil. I'm stuck in a similar situation on a friends vehicle. I would rather have a slow oil leak than a overtightened drain plug.

    I had this exact problem when I went to go change my oil myself. I noticed that the bolt was a little stripped, but not terribly stripped. Nothing I did could get it off, not even an impact wrench. I don’t have a torch, so I’m going to take it in and let them have some fun trying to get it off 😂

    So i tried this method yesterday with a portable torch and it worked!!! I was able to easily remove the frozen drain bolt after heating then letting it cool for a minute. Thank you for saving the day! 😎👍🏼

      For how long do you apply heat to the bolt and is there any danger of fire due to "greasy" pan? Also, would mini torch lighters work? Thanks.

    A lot of those Chrysler drain plugs are closer to 1/2” than 13mm. People who are used to grabbing metric (or work with cheap tools and only have one set of wrenches) and don’t know this will round them a bit. I encountered one that was so bad, what was left of the bolt head was a square perhaps a hair under 3/8”… originally a 1/2” hexagon….

    • @RastamanBuilds
      @RastamanBuilds  Год назад

      very true. I started with the metric. It felt snug but the plug was so tight. I was caught by surprise. I should not have started with the 12 point wrench and maybe I would have gotten it

    Just bought a used Durango time for oil change plug stuck like this rounded head a bit went to vise grips tapping on bolt ...i don't think heat is good here since these are plastic composite oil pan not steel... boy am I pissed I believe the dealer i bought it from did the last service and it seems all the folks who think they're work alot of money per hour are only lazy enough to use impact tools on every damn bolt

    • @RastamanBuilds
      @RastamanBuilds  Месяц назад +1

      You can still use heat. Use a heat gun or a hair drier and get the drain plug warm. That plastic is designed to resist engine heat. I would use a propane torch like what plumbers use and just be quick with my hand not staying in one spot too long and focusing on the drain plug
