Easy to enjoy this and forget just how staggering it is that we can enjoy this sort of thing at all, let alone at home. Dynamic weather providing physical and visual impact to the simulation, whilst providing effectively real-time response to numerous complex control surfaces, whilst simultaneously providing a wealth of realistic and accurate displays to correspond with the game physics. Incredible really.
@@cgaviator it was such a great game (and whatever the sequel was with the American plane - maybe f22?). The best bit about it was the persistent campaign mode where all sorts of stuff was going on across the map, whether you were involved or not - I really wish modern flight sims had stuff like that, rather than just multiplayer. Edit - yeah it basically came with a text book?? Whatever happened to DiD
I figured it was time enjoy some of the other jets in my ‘hangar.’ 😄 I may try some time on target with a more modern jet. See what I can achieve within the limitations of MSFS
The cockpit arrangement is fantastic. Really powerful and versatile. At the same time, I’m reminded of Tesla, where in addition to being fab, the entirely digital interface is also largely a massive pile of poop, long-winded in use, vulnerable and distracting.
What an interesting video ! shows what is needed for an 'all weather' attack aircraft, It'd be ever worse doing CAS at night, in a SAM contested environment, in such conditions. That E bar was dancing a merry jig, IndiaFoxtEcho might need to dampen it down a bit. I'm so used to the DCS Hornet and Viper it seems freaky to approach without an AoA donut, but I suppose the AV-8B/Harrier's VSTOL mode doesn't need one and just uses a Vertical Speed scale. Thanks Chris, for the white knuckle adventure ride. I'm going to have to add this jet to my MSFS collection now.
Excellent representation of the aircrafts capabilities in bad weather. I know its 'not the norm', however a systems malfunction may force you to land somewhere in severe inclement weather, thus trusting your instruments is the only option (though the HSI might work a bit better on the real thing). I tend to think about the Harriers during the Falklands conflict and what types of weather they were up against during landings and even take offs. Couldn't have been nice. PS - away from MSFS, my online DCS squadron used to train for landings in proper pea-soup weather. Ground fog, cloud base 200ft (or less) clearing at 5,000ft. The ILS system on the A10C was superb fun to use, though it was the same for most of the aircraft with that capability. And just for fun we'd take the WW2 aircraft into it and see if we could talk each other down. Always ended with more 'BBQs' than 'walk away froms' 😄😊 Thanks for sharing the vid. Much appreciated. Stay well Sir.
Whoa, While he must be a very stupid pilot I would have to admit he also can fly that thing. High praise from a Kiwi where the love of France is limited 😁
Important note. In the real bird, the DAS, Distributed Aperture System, is a full spherical situational awareness suite for pilots, it really helps with night flying as it can be bound to the HMDS, and wherever you look is enhanced via the DAS, like the Apache's main sensor hub with the gunner
Hi nice video to learn from I was wondering about the route setup, can u create route setup tutorial I will appreciate very much, Thanks for this video, Dylan
Really edge of your seat stuff - accuracy be damned, you made it back, Mav! I’m doing some flying in the real England this week, and the weather is fortunately nothing like this. Quite delightful actually. I was supposed to do a landing at Duxford yesterday. Weather was good but my CFI couldn’t get landing approval. I’m guessing it has to do with the Duxford air show next weekend but not really sure.
Great (and terrifying) stuff! I know you said that it would never be flown in this weather, is the F35 not an all weather fighter? What about if there was a war, would it be considered acceptable? Is it just the risk in peace time that means it wouldn't happen?
I guess worst case war time then perhaps. I don’t know if the F35 incorporates terrain following radar. But also consider that with stealth you’d hope that they wouldn’t have to fly low through such bad weather.
Hard to say as I’ve never been in a storm. Most pilots (especially military) will avoid them. I guess airliners may press through some stronger stuff. So it’s hard to quantify I’m afraid. The aircraft gets tossed around, the speed fluctuates with wind sheer, it’s reasonable I would say.
I was considering taking this video down as it was user error with the ILS. In aircraft that I’ve flown the HUD bars were flight director but in the aircraft/model, it’s raw ILS data. 🤦🏼♂️
@@cgaviator oh well if I do get the plane I have to do loads of practice- but limited funds atm and now I want this, the harrier and all the ships! 🤔😉 But just got the free to carriers mod atm. Mostly fly GA and FBW a320 but thinking of branching out 😂

Make sure you’re definitely dialling in an ILS frequency and you’re in range? If it’s a ship you’re trying to ILS onto, it may be a bug where the ILS isn’t present. Do you have navigraph?

Lovely bit of business. Reminded me in places of that old EF2000 game back in the 90s that I was obsessed with

Thank you for the video. That was some insane atmosphere. I was litteraly holding my breath that ILS section. And that windmill. Scary stuff.
Yeah, that ILS was sketchy at best! 😂
Wow, that was an intense landing! I haven't tried hand-flying an ILS approach in forever, and certainly not in a fighter. Very fun to see.
