I just purchased it - W800H. One of the best watch expenses, I ever made. Packed with functions, very light and comfortable, wr100 and so on. Excellent value, for the money - 22 EUR, in Romania. Thanks for the review !
So much talk about the length of the strap! It's as if you didn't know you could easily take this into your own hands and trim it to your preferred length with any scissors. Kitchen shears work particularly well. That's what I used to trim the strap on my W800H and I love having the strap length customized to my preferences. Trim yourself a nice curve on the end, to make it look better and be easier to insert. I love the W800H for "manly" outdoor wear, but am considering the W217H, with its thinner profile, for everyday indoor wear. I'm probably just looking for an excuse to justify buying another Casio. Such amazing watches for the money!
True, but on long straps like the 800 or 217, the keeper sits directly under my wrist; you can feel it when laying on a desk. I just find more proportional straps more comfortable. Thanks for watching.
Interesting take. After setting any watch, I confirm against a calendar once and am pretty confident that it's the right year (I have plenty of watches that don't have a visible year, and it's never been a problem). So I don't SHARE your concern, but admit you're right that it's a possibility. As always, to each their own.
These are wonderful pieces from a fantastic brand. I have the f-91(2 of them) and w-800(again, two of ‘em). Precious gems for a ridiculous price! Thanks for this comparative review! I unboxed a couple of them on my channel , but you made me wanna make full reviews! Thanks!
"Pretty" is always going to be subjective, so there's no right or wrong answer. To me, I like the F91's more rectangular aspect ratio, and think the W800 is overly crowded with the year. But they're both great - thanks for watching.
@@manifoldz Thank god ! W800 isn’t available here in India, so I’ve to choose between only the remaining two - the iconic F-91 and W271H (the ‘better F-91) !
Nice review. For me W800h > w217h > f91 F91 is legendary but it is too small.. looks like a kids watch. I swapped the strap of w800h with cheap skmei 1496 strap, it looks tougher and closer to gshock style and also works well with w217h. Moreover four buttons looks more aesthetically symmetrical and complete, wish w217h had four buttons. All these casio are must for your collection!
Good idea on the strap hack. I agree about visual symmetry on the W800, but if you have a couple watches in your rotation, 4 buttons quickly gets "confusing" and you hit the wrong one all the time. But I can certainly see that the W800 is the perfect watch for some. The W217 is just the f91 but bigger, and for me - if you're willing to go bigger you can get a lot better functionality elsewhere.
To each their own, of course.. But I just look at something like this and want to puke. You need the year to reset the watch after battery change, it correspond with leap years. In early January each year, showing the year is a necessity, like say….writing checks and such.
I like both the W800h and the blue W217h. My preference is the W217h because of the readability of the display and it’s even a tad lighter. The only disadvantage of the W217h is that you can’t set the year. In a leap year like this, it skips February 29th.
I wear the Casio W-800H. It is the greatest watch that I have ever owned. It orients me daily just by reading its face, because it gives a complete read out of what you need to know at once glance. In my view, there's nothing that beats this watch. (BTW, I am a woman.)
It's a great watch, no doubt. I can totally see how someone would feel that way. I've got small wrists for a man my size, and the strap hang is too annoying for me.
My favorite small Casio is the B640. It has bright dual-LED side light, countdown timer and 50 meter water resistance. It can display current time while in stopwatch or countdown-timer mode too. The B640 looks a little thick, but actually is only 0.5mm thicker than the F-91w.
I hear you. There are several in the B640 line that look similar, but I need a resin strap. I have the LW204-1B, which is sort of garbage because the inverted display is almost unreadable. The one I want to compare is the W-202, but it's an import.
I went with the W-217 and put on a Vario leather Royal strap. This watch set up like this is the easiest watch have to read the time and lightest watch I've ever had on my wrist.
It's great that Casio makes so many sizes and styles! I have all three of these watches and the the F91-W is my least favorite. The horrible backlight is a deal-breaker for me. My wrist is 7 inches and in my opinion the F91 is too small unless I'm wearing long sleeves and it's hiding under the cuff. The W217H is ok, but because it is so thin, it looks too large for what it is. It almost looks like an F91-W that's taking itself too seriously. But at least it has a decent backlight, which is very important to me. My favorite is the W800H. I use it every day, but seldom wear it. It has a semi-permanent home on my bathroom counter, where it tells me the time when I get up in the middle of the night, the day of the week for taking morning and evening meds, and the date and 24 hour time for my medical log (when I had a serious illness). But that's not what I bought it for. When I got The W800H, it was a replacement for a 5600 G-Shock that had buttons that were just too darn hard to press. I wanted a digital field watch that was rugged, accurate, had 100 meters of water resistance, 10 years of battery life, a decent backlight, and looked like a mini G-Shock. The W800H perfectly filled that niche. I don't need that capability every day and I agree that the W800 isn't the prettiest watch in my collection, but when I'm going camping or traveling overseas, that watch is always in my kit, even if I'm wearing a prettier 3-hander on my wrist most of the time. If something happens to the pretty watch or I'm going to be in the water or I need to wear a watch a night, the W800H is the one I reach for. Oh, as you can see from my comment below, I trimmed the strap to the perfect length. If you decided to do this to yours, take a few practice cuts, to get the hang of it, before you make your final cut.
Aesthetically, I don't see it as a "Brother". I specifically compared models with a thin blue border line. IF i owned it, it would have thrown in the W202 too.
for me, the W59 is the best of all proposals. It retains the nostalgia factor of the f91, with which the w59 shares dimensions and style, BUT the w59 is 50m waterproof. I very often wear my w59 and my a168w but I also like to wear w217 as well as my other casio models.. Thanks for you video :)
Agree completely. I don't have the w59 yet, but I guess I will personally weigh horological importance of the f91 just a bit higher than you; but the w59 is better in every logical sense. I just bought the W86 and really like it. It has the 50M water resistance, the nostalgia, a better backlight, and is just a hair larger without being too bulky.
Sounds like the RUclips author of this video should go for the w86 or f105w if wanting an F91w replacement that is negligibly larger. The 217h is awesome for people with large wrists. An F91w is puny on my wrist, and I'm on the second to last hole on the strap, but the 217h looks and feels normal, being nearer to the 40mm size instead of 35mm. As for height, the 217h is only 1.5mm taller. It is the thinnest modern Casio; only the F91w and the f105w are thinner if you aren't looking for a metal band watch; A700 is thinner than even the F91w but no resin/resin variant.
I like the longer straps, i assume my wrist probably has more girth than yours. I just hate it when i have to use one of the last lug holes on the strap and then there is hardly any strap leftover to go into the strap saver Edit: love the video by the way 👍
I cut my W800H strap with a utility knife, getting rid of the excessive strap. It’s not difficult and looks better afterwards. Yers later, I replaced it with an elastic cloth band, which I really love.
A Good Comparison of the features and specs of the watches would hope you can try in a darker room or no lights at all. Would be trying out and buy a W800H or W217H. Thanks
When I was serving in the military, the watch I wore was the w800h. In the military camp, I even wore it to shower, sleep, target shooting, physical training, and wash dishes. Wear it all the time. I also wore w800h on my hand when I secretly smoked in the military camp. Later, my superior saw me smoking, which resulted in me being put in a single-person military cell! This kind of cell was dark and small, and it was difficult to even sit down. The military police only gave me water and kept me in jail for two days. What is surprising is that my country is a democratic country with a more developed economy than many European countries, and the social security is also very good, but only the army would do such a thing to soldiers! Back to the topic of watches, I originally wanted to wear the w800h watch into the cell. After all, the watch can provide lighting and tell the time in the cell, but the watch was confiscated by the gendarmerie! Because the purpose of military cells is to torture soldiers, it was impossible for me to go in wearing a watch. That was in 2022. At that time, the Chinese navy and air force completely blockaded my country, so the national military control became very strict! Originally, people who secretly smoked while serving in the military would not be imprisoned in a military cell😓. Every time I see the w800h watch, I think of my time in the military and the painful memories of being imprisoned in a military cell. I call this watch "2022 Taiwan Island Watch"
Among similar casio watches, I recommend the ae1200wh the most. It is very waterproof and resistant to drops. I once accidentally dropped the ae1200wh from the sixth floor. Only the bezel was broken and the watch mirror was slightly cracked. The rest of the functions were normal. It is really amazing.
Thanks for watching! I've been looking at the A178, and I even called out some of its flaws in the F-201 I reviewed: ruclips.net/video/65nfwr_NIvk/видео.htmlsi=ui-zOef-vwFNDhky (See about 12:50 in that video). But Thanks for the reminder that the A178 is hackable.
@@manifoldz I just watched that review keep the hunt alive I've also got the w217 it's ashame that the strap is so long but I'm still willing myself to look pass it because I to need a "replacement " for my a158w
I do like the size better than the F-91... it's just enough bigger to have better proportions for me. I don't like the appearance as much as the F-91. Backlight is nice, but not enough for me to replace a classic like the F-91. If it had more water resistance (like the w86), now you might be talking.
Obrigado! e desculpe pela resposta tardia! Você comprou o 217 ou o F-91. Se você tem pulsos grandes ou olhos ruins, compre o 217. Se você gosta de história, compre o F91.
The 217H and W00H are awesome for medium to larger wrists. While the F91W may be the classic, it looks too small or even like a woman's watch for larger than skinny wrists. BTW on the dual time, tell those sentiments to Gen. Schwarzkopf 🤣
I don't know - I'm 45 now. I don't doubt that I'll need a bigger display when my eyes go, but we shall see about the year. The W96 at least has year in a slightly different font size. I think I'd choose that one.
3 button digital watches are awful. Always blinking when cycling thru functions. I do understand the "comfort" issue though The w800 is an better choice...100m water resistance, much more durable, time display on all functions. I suggest you buy a different (rubber)!strap if fitment based on wrist size is a problem
Personally, I'd rather an occational blinking mode (which times out) than something I can't figure out immediately. But I value simplicity over complications. To each their own. Thanks for watching!
Good watches, but too visually dissimilar. Also, in the US, the W86 is impossible to find, and I'm not paying inflated Ebay reseller prices. SOMEDAY I'll find it for a good price.
@@darioswatchclub8 Mad Watch Collector said that W-86's were going on clearance in the UK, and suspected Casio was clearing out all their Electroluminescent models. No idea if this is true, but I can confirm that the W-86 is not found in the US, and hasn't been for some years.
I wish I had your wrist size. I dislike having extra strap sticking out, and it does on the W800. That said, the more I wear the W800, the more I like it.
Don't like em all. Casio W202 - 1AV stayng on a cheap working beater with blue trim competing with F-91W. Casio LW204 - 1B an all black more elegant flush and discrete to wear. 1 Enhanced ergonomic and flushness 2 better very effective backlighting (respect F91) 3 5Bar water resistance, realistically you can swim with it 4 Countdown function 5 enhanced alarm and blinking 6 recessed button protection of settings and larger buttons and angled comfy displacement than F91.
NOBODY but you mentions the W202; thank you. I absolutely agree that it should be the real spiritual successor. Unfortunately for me it's impossible to find in the USA. We do have the LW204, which I have ans I HATE for esthetic reasons. It's impossibly dark and you can barely read. Also the strap is without any character, and like 12 inches long, so the retainer flaps in the wind.
@@manifoldz so you can actually make a video and compare LW204 against F91. IMO the LW204 is the perfect casio. A classic milestone. and you can wear it either in elegant dressing competing with A158 A168 but also with A700 and A1000, despite some metal and fake metal they are all inferior products in water resistance, performance, comfort and aging over time. Put in the equation the price tags and you notice that Casio LW204 - 1B is an excellent choice for who loves digital watches to wear all day and all night long and also presentable, not children watches.
LOL… the W800 is awesome … if you like the F91 but want one like it just better … try the W86 or the F105 !!! Due to my travels, work and lifestyle: the dual time is very nice feature as is the “yearly” alarm in the W800 … so in the end the features are just dependent on each person !!!

I don't know - I'm 45 now. I don't doubt that I'll need a bigger display when my eyes go, but we shall see about the year. The W96 at least has year in a slightly different font size. I think I'd choose that one.
What vacuum cleaner is that. I think it's a Vax...
Es el F91W más grande el hermano mayor es Casio está de moda en el cine.
El Casio F91W siempre está de moda.
3 button digital watches are awful. Always blinking when cycling thru functions. I do understand the "comfort" issue though
The w800 is an better choice...100m water resistance, much more durable, time display on all functions.
I suggest you buy a different (rubber)!strap if fitment based on wrist size is a problem
Personally, I'd rather an occational blinking mode (which times out) than something I can't figure out immediately. But I value simplicity over complications. To each their own. Thanks for watching!
I like all watches but the F-91w gets worn a lot. A lot a lot😀
Brother TWO WORDS: F-105 & W-86
Good watches, but too visually dissimilar. Also, in the US, the W86 is impossible to find, and I'm not paying inflated Ebay reseller prices. SOMEDAY I'll find it for a good price.
@@manifoldz I didn't know that. The W-86 seems to be readily available here in Germany. Is it still in production?
@@darioswatchclub8 Mad Watch Collector said that W-86's were going on clearance in the UK, and suspected Casio was clearing out all their Electroluminescent models. No idea if this is true, but I can confirm that the W-86 is not found in the US, and hasn't been for some years.
@@manifoldz Damn it. What a Shame. The EL Backlight Casios are Great.
Casio W800H is the best among these three, but too small in size
I wish I had your wrist size. I dislike having extra strap sticking out, and it does on the W800. That said, the more I wear the W800, the more I like it.
@@manifoldz the watch is VERY good, but if it's at least 42mm or 44mm in size it would have been perfect
Don't like em all.
Casio W202 - 1AV stayng on a cheap working beater with blue trim competing with F-91W.
Casio LW204 - 1B an all black more elegant flush and discrete to wear.
1 Enhanced ergonomic and flushness
2 better very effective backlighting (respect F91)
3 5Bar water resistance, realistically you can swim with it
4 Countdown function
5 enhanced alarm and blinking
6 recessed button protection of settings and larger buttons and angled comfy displacement than F91.
@@giuliogemino6407 Good content ideas. My personal preference goes towards utilitarian and away from "elegant", but those are good models.
A lot of "uhms" and lip smacks. Uncomfortable to listen to
I'm sure you're right. I'll be cognizent.
I have both - and am doing a review on the W86. It really is great. I dont think the F105's light is enough of an improvement to justify a whole new model. Thanks for watching.
