I Love Casio watches. I collect watches but HATE the "Snobbery" associated with the hobby of collecting watches... All my watches cost £100 GBP or less. These Casio watches are awesome as everyday wear watches. I have a Casio W96H, Love the larger display on this watch... Does everything it says on the tin... These digital watches are mainstream now but back in the 1970s these were "Groundbreaking" technology. Thank you so much for this video.
I’ve got $1,500 in citizens and seikos but the second I realized how versatile a Casio could be, I put a 3 watch collection together for $200. Casio is great for a budget friendly daily watch and a Casio duro is a great dress watch and dive watch.
I'm glad to see that you are so pleased with the W-800H. In my opinion it is the best value field and travel watch. Quartz accuracy, 100m water resistance, day, date, perpetual calendar, stopwatch, dual-time, night illumination, 10 year battery, and under $20. What else do you need? I sometimes travel with a pretty 3-hander for fine dining or the opera, but the the W-800H is my ace in the hole for when the going gets, tough or wet. Who needs a G-Shock when you have the W-800H? You might find it a little more comfortable to wear these watches one hole looser. The watches are so lightweight they won't move around on your wrist and the bands won't dig into your wrist.
You couldn't beat that offer with a stick (Irish expression). Ten years battery life is amazing. I love Casio watches and they offer such accuracy and design choices. But the alarm, notwithstanding the fine-tuning, is not really audible to an old fellow like me. Such a pity.
I Love when you show us these 10 year battery models, these are my favorite ones. I own a few ones but when I find one I try to buy. Best regards from Brazil, happy 2022.
My watch is now upgraded with the 'timer' function. I carefully took the watch apart and turned on the 'timer' function on the PCB. Now it has all the useful functions.
@@sonny.888 The watch was brand new, so the gasket is still usable. I put the watch back together carefully and I hope it still seals well...I haven't tested anything. As for the seal, this should not be a problem, as the same procedure must be done every time the battery is changed. According to experience, this is every five years. The seal in these Casio watches is very robust and of good quality, so there should be no problems with the seal.
@Jernej Funkl OK thanks. I just ordered one yesterday and deciding if I should change the battery when I get it cause you don't know how old the battery in there is
@@sonny.888 These Casio watches have high-quality lithium batteries (CR2016), which usually last up to five years. There is no need to change the battery at the time of purchase. You just put the watch on your hand and enjoy the Casio classic :) When changing the battery, it is necessary to pay attention that the type is exactly the same as the original. A thicker battery (for example, 2032) can eventually damage the LCD screen as it puts too much pressure on the PCB and thus burdens the screen.
just ordered my 2nd casioW96H (strap broke after 5 years) ..thinner by 2 mm and larger screen and can still swim if required (which I don't ..) also buttons concealed and look far more elegant
It would have been interesting to know what the differences are - like if and how much bigger the digits are on one (possibly the W-96H). Also, nobody talks about accuracy. The W800 is the only of my Casios that's notoriously running SLOW - and by a noticeable amount, compared to any of my other Casios' deviation (to the plus side). I think the operation can be easily dug up by 80% of the viewers in the days of internet and pdf files.
In November 2017 i bought 10 watches Casio W96H. Barely i wear one of them and strap still good but resin bucle cracked. Another one i make it like a gift to my brother and that resin band finish in 2-3 months hardly dirty and shocks worn a lot of scratches but all watches still beat with same battery since 2017. Great watches! I still have ond box with Casio W96H sealed, unopened. Still not have in my collection a Casio W800, but i have F201
With a ten year battery, these watches are a no brainer. I used to wear pendulum kinetic watches, but they dont last as the diode that holds the charge fails after a number of years, and to replace them can be expensive if even possible. I started out with a casio when I was 7, now 40 years later im back to basics with no regrets. I tend to go for the slimmer watches, because the larger kind tend to get caught on things while im working.
2 years i worked in construction + i worked other intensive jobs, it is beat up but it's still working as intended, honestly for this price this watch is insane ! The only thing i changed was the strap, although i don't want to mod it i want to remove the writing on the face to make it look more clean.
I just ordered a W800H after an extensive research. At 47 my eyesight is not what it used to be and I wanted something with a bigger font than most Casios. I’ve owned a bunch of Casios over the years and right now I wear an AE-1000W world time, and a G-Shock Casioak. Team Casio forever!
Nice review! I’ve always noticed that the modules are very similar and it’s nice to see them covered- as I’m more of a module fan rather than a case fan imo opinion the W800 is the winner although I’m a small wrist guy and the W96 is better in that regard.
I have the 96H. Four years on, the band tore. Five years on, the liquid of the LCD screen is leaking and the screen is gradually becoming dark as black. I liked the black and silver contrast and the font of the watch. But the screen damage made me to opt for DW-5600E-1VQ, which I'm planning to buy soon.
It also has a PERPETUAL CALENDER no need to reset until 2099 or when battery needs a change. It allows for leap year and various different months etc etc.
I have the W800 and I think it's my new favourite lower end watch. Casio brand and just enough of an improvement over the classic 91w. Keep the second time to where my in-laws live.
Thank you for this video. I like the w800h more. They kept a slightly retro look on it. It's probably going to be my next watch after my a163 gives in. I had this one for 3 years. I am 34 but my sight isn't what it used to be. The bigger digits on the 800 model are welcome. Cheers and keep it up!
Hope mine keeps better time than that. Seems like I’ve lost .25 seconds over three days. My Casio Duro, and MRW-200H are really accurate/reliable. I was hoping to rock this W800H for a few years before getting a G-Shock. Been into the 80’s vibes, space, Starfield so I’m rocking my only digital watch. Kinda sad that my Ford Escort ZX2 from 2000, has a more accurate digital clock… My $20 coffee machine might even be more accurate. 😬
I have had a W800H for about a dozen years now (needs a battery change). The big Achilles heel of this type of watch is the strap - after maybe 2 years they go brittle and crack, then they break. Not to worry, you can get replacement straps really cheap (I've gone through maybe a half dozen already) - the last time I got a half dozen (you never know how long you'll be able to find them after this.. the shops servicing watches have all disappeared in the last few years).
Count me as another huge fan of W800H 🤚. The year in the bottom left might seem unusual but it’s because in dual time mode that is the spot where it will display the home time zone. Incredible. My only nitpicks are the weak light and the crystal not inset more by the case to protect against bumps and scratches, but I can overlook those easily.
They might not be G-shocks, but my bet is that they'd survive a lifetime of whatever you throw at it. And if I'm wrong, you can still blow through another 2 or 3 before you're behind more than even a cheap Gshock costs
A good review of both these watches which I also happen to have in my collection. I have a small size wrist and I have found with the W800 the length of the strap is a bit too long for my wrist which I find is a bit annoying as if I catch the end of the strap on clothing the strap sometimes comes free from the keeper and flaps about. I luckily had an 28mm canvas strap which is a bit shorter and I have no longer got that problem any more. Both watches are good value for money though tbh. I live in the UK and have recently come across Armitron watches and have just recently purchased an Analogue/Digital watch similar to a Casio version that I currently own. It cost me around £45 on Amazon US and I am amazed it is totally stainless steel construction with a mineral glass and a much better stainless steel bracelet than the Casio watch that I have. The water resistance is 5 ATM instead of the 3 ATM of the Casio and also has a Japanese movement. The bracelet size is 20mm so gives me much better options for changing the strap if I ever decide to do so. The standard bracelet it came on is slightly thicker than the Casio watch strap and doesn't pull my hairs like the Casio bracelet which makes it very comfortable to wear. I don't know if you own any Armitron watches but the 20/5453NVSV is worth looking at if you like this style of watch which I do. It looks really good on the wrist as it is also slightly larger in size than the Casio. I hope you will do a review on this model and perhaps others in the Armitron range of watches sometime. Best wishes from here in the UK Greg and I look forward to seeing more reviews.
I think that the DATE & TIME on this CASIO AE1200 watch should be a larger size. The DATE and TIME on the CASIO model W96H-1BV is a much larger size. I can see the TIME on it easily from 1 meter away ! The CASIO W96H-1BV is my favorite digital watch because it shows the TIME, DATE, DAY and YEAR all on the face without having to push any buttons for selection. You look at this watch and it shows everything all at once.... though the CASIO AE1200 watch is better when traveling to different countries.

I can only advise you to buy a stronger rubber strap with a metal buckle for them.
Why would one buy a 50 meters watch over a 100 meters watch, if they are basically the same?
Two hidden champions !
Casio needs to make a W96 with larger case
These two watches are good. For the same price, the Casio AE1200 Royal smokes them both.
