I am not a diver, a pilot, an astronaut, an athlete, a racecar driver, a frequent international traveler, or a dapper man about town. I am a working father of two, and I am always on the go. The Casio W217H tells perfect time, has an alarm function, a timer, a stopwatch, 24 hr. time, 50M water resistant, and it can light up in the dark. It has become the perfect watch for me at this time. My mechanical watch collection has essentially gone dormant, for now.
the display looks awesome on this one. but that's already big for my taste, what I appreciate about the f-91w is actually how small and thin it is, perfect for small wrists and so comfortable to wear
If you dig the size of the F-91W but want a better light, go with the F105W-1A since it has EL illumination and not just "illuminator" (which means the LED light covers enough of the display for full readability). You can get one at pretty much any Wal-Mart for about $20 USD. I've heard the ones made in Thailand keep better time than the ones made in China, but not entirely sure about that.
I like my watch around 40 mm - the modern size. In the w217, Casio took everything the fw91 was and made it better - beefier size, more legible digits and incorporated its illuminator technology to create a backlight that worked. They didn’t mess around with anything and that’s the point of the new model. A classic on steroids.
I agree, I bought the 217 but I don't wear it. My wrists are small too. G-Shocks look ridiculous on me. I hate it because some of the G-Shocks look pretty good. I'll stick with the 92, 105 and 158
I may go for the 217 if my CA-53W craps out. Hoping that doesn't happen, though. Of course, I may just buy one regardless. No backlight on the 53W is a big downside...
I live in the US and every time that we go to walmart, always go the watch aisle to pick up "just one more watch". I haven't found the F91W but pretty sure that will get one. Thank you Brother to revive my love for Casio watches, these are the best cost benefit watches.
I’ve had a 217 for over 6 months and I love it. My f91 strap broke under light duress, and I know the 2017 won’t have that problem. I’m surprised the 217 doesn’t get more fanfare.
I have one of this since i live in UK (8 years) the best watch ever! Alarm, hours, day and week days all in the same screen! Fu**in green light too! You use it you feel like a real man at the same time! Thats the watch used by fishermans, mechanics, toolmakers, a true beast with no competitor!
I just bought this watch on Gshock.com a few days ago. It haven’t even got here yet I’m catching myself looking at the cooler ones for over 100$. I want MORE
The W-800 specs beat the W217H in every way. Including lower street price, it seems. But if you want the look of an oversized F91, the W217 is the way to go. Thought about buying a W217, but for me, the strength of the F91 is its smaller size.
I have an AO 47, the analogue one, that I bought in the 1980's. Still ticking (er, humming?) away. It's my edc, I converted it to a 'biner watch which I wear on a belt loop along with a flashlight and a knife. Been through about 6 batteries, the last time I changed it the jeweler said the watch is still available.
Thanks for another great video. Count me among the fans of the W-800H-1AV. I got mine about a year ago, when they were actually cheaper than the F-91w, around $8 I believe. I love it, because I often forget what year it is. I’ve got almost a full watch box of Casios, total value of around $67 😁
I also have the W800H and love it, as well as the W217H in both stock color and gold and also the W218H that looks like a mini Gshock, great watch, love those larger digits on the 217H and useable backlight-!! I like to tell folks who spent $$$$$ on snob watches mine cost almost nothing, needs no winding just a once in a great while battery change, also if it gets scratched I buff it out and if it gets damaged lost or stolen no big loss just buy another as theyre cheap - and the Casio is usually more accurate than even some very good mechanical movements can be.
18mm wide NATO type straps look great on this and the W800H. Very easy to swap, especially if you buy the Bisonstrap brand that comes with a removal and re-install tool and four spare pins, just in case one or more flies off onto your sawdust floor.
I like the Casio w202 (even if it is a lady’s watch technically) for this type of basic Casio digital. It’s basically a dw5600e module in a regular size watch. It even has current time display in stopwatch/timer modes and flash alert. The longer strap helps too, since I’ve got too fat to wear the f91/w59 comfortably now :( But the glass does scratch really easily.

My favorite Casio was the DataBank 50 and then the DataBank 150. What was nice you could schedule appointments and there was a bar in the window that would show when you had an upcoming appointment this week or next.
I just pulled from my savings, and bought this watch. I love the practicality of it. I use it for work so i can leave my expensive g shock at home and not damage it.
I purchased this watch from this recommendation. I love it more than my $150.00 G-shock because the price makes it so i don't care if it gets dirty or scratched. I helped my brother work on his car over the weekend and got it covered in oil , a good rinse later and its good as new
I completely agree. I did have the A158 and found that it was too small. I could barely read it. Then I found out about the B650 and bought one. Problem solved!

F-91 has the new green color which I loved and bought and added a comfortable 22mm green nato strap. I use the hourly beep while programming, improves my productivity. The beep is way louder than on my G-Shocks.

The "Gold" one may had been cheaper at the time.. I chose it for the slightly different display color and the gold lines look classy. I'm trying one because of your video.
I love these videos where you showcase some really affordable watches and especially Casio watches as I have a soft spot for them also. Really good stuff. I particularly loved the last video where you showed us how to mod the Casio Royale. I think it is also worth noting that the backlight on the has the blue ring around the face has a backlight that inverts the display and in some people's opinion makes it easier to read in the dark. I have to say that I agree with that too so maybe it is worth the extra few quid.

I think the W-86 is nicer honestly, but the big font might be good for old people or people with bad eyesight. I also bought a G-shock DW-5600 but I have to say I find it just slightly too big and heavy for a 24/7 beater. I can't feel the W-86 or F-91, but I can definitely notice the DW-5600. The waterproofness of the F-91W has never been an issue. I went scuba diving with it on several occasions at 22m and it survived without any issues, so taking it to the pool should also be fine.
I had one of these while in Air Force BMT. You can't kill these things I never took it off even in the shower. Loved it but I lost it while moving from tech school.
I cannot remember the specific Casio I had as a kid but I can remember the discomfort and the in my finger after depressing the light button. Who would have thought that would be the highlight of skool.
A Cool watch I found is the AQW101-1AV by casio. It is unique in that it has a "fish" complication, that tells you when is the best time to go fishing. ALso a moonphase, thermometer, and 200m water resistance. 40 dollars on amazon where I am. I Have seen some fisherman wearing them online. Anyways, the 217H is great because I dont need my glasses to read them!!
Thanks for the review. I had a digital Casio way back in the 80s. I was still in high school and I asked for a digital Seiko, but my Mom bought me a Casio instead. At the time, it seemed to be sleek and futuristic. I wore it as an every day watch along with a vintage Wittnauer auto I inherited from my grandfather for about 5 years, until the LCD display died. In a nutshell that is the point of Casios. Pure function, but nothing else. A watch to wear when doing chores or yardwork, or maybe something to wear at the gym. Or maybe a watch to wear if you are traveling someplace dangerous and don't want to risk getting your nice watch stolen off your wrist or out of your hotel room. So Kudos to Casio updating their design as the original looks like a child's watch now. That said, I hate how they look and would probably go with something like a Swatch before putting one of these on my wrist..
Had one from Argos which in 2002 was robbed from me in Rio de Janeiro by a juvenile who held a revolver to my temple. I bought a Rolex which I saved up for from never going to Rio again! Lols
A coworker wore one of these today. It's kind of funny because he has some VERY nice watches. Let's just say he enabled a comparison to the Pagani Daytona homage I bought a couple years ago to the real thing: he has some nice watches. Anyway, I usually don't care much more all digital watches but for something even less expensive than the 5600, this just might be the choice. I do like the 1200. I have a modded one with a polarizing filter or whatever... the uber-stealthy black on black on black look.
Doh. Now you tell us after I spent all that cash on the F91W.

I can clearly see in my a158 with the light on, no issues with the visibility.
Great review, had no idea this one existed! Tempted to go for the blue version for the true 80s neon aesthetic!
I had the same model, but in black steel with negative display! It's called the casio b650wb
looks way better than the cheap plastic one
Just bought this one for $16 because of this review. It fit my wrist perfectly unlike the F-91. I have 7.25" wrist
I really love the way Jody did the intro!
For those want the same size as the F91W but with the much better 'illuminator' light, go for the Casio F-105.
I got a Casio watch in third grade and it died 2 days after I graduated. Best thing is their so cheap yet so high quality you can just buy a new one
Great video, I just bought mine but here in Mexico City I paid $649 Mexican pesos which is about $31 US dollars, however I just love the watch
Spend all the money i got for this watch. Worth it.
I love digital watches they're packed with functions and they're so unfashionable they're not even subject to fashion scrutiny..
The F91W has some color options like silver and gold for example. They look really good and quite fashionable imo.
@@__________________________Fred you're breaking my heart..
Mfw you say digital watches aren't fashionable: i.redd.it/kv701vuwyz001.jpg
It's been made since 1989. The 91 is just a model number
I might buy for the light alone, looks epic haha!
I loved the JPS photo! Takes me back to the days of the Elf Tyrrell's! 6 wheelers! Happy little watch.Cheers.
3 daily watches I'll ever need in my life. F91w, W217h and w800h-1B. I'll be good for life with any one of these tbh
Just picked one up and love it! Great review!!
Absolutely Fantastic 🏆 I Like it a lot 💯
Cheers form Perth Australia 🐨🙏
Gary Sharples good to see Perth mate
Hi Jodi, got this one in my collection today off my wife as a birthday present. 26 quid off Amazon!!
Great great intro! Always get a giggle out of me! "Now that I'm a big kid!"
I just picked up a silver one with a blacked-out negative display for $4 at Wallyworld. I couldn’t resist the negative display or the price.
As a guy that grew up in the 1980s, I’m SOLD!!! I’m going to pick one up at Walmart for $15.88 USD - ASAP. Thanks for the simple honest review.
I wish I saw this before I ordered the f105. 38x43 is still pretty compact.
Me deciding between the f105 and this watch
i've got the w59
same nice small size as well as the shitty light
but also 50m water resistant
All hail to the king, using this watch from 7th grade and now m in my 40ths
have a negative display one, looks amazing
Good review, I have one but with small wrists I'll stick with the 158, 105 and 91. Thanks for sharing
Agreed, agreed, agreed! Just purchased one! Thank you!
I’ll be honest. If it’s a Casio, I’m in.
Maybe you don't like it, but the think I love of your videos is the jokes, you really are a little comedian. Of course the watches have me hooked
I got mine from Walmart for $15.88 when it first came out. I chose the blue rimmed one because of negative back-lit feature
I just got the metal version of this last week (b650w) and im in love with it, haha.
