I likr the suggestion. When built 25 years ago, my deck didn't have a picture frame edge.. Now some of the nails are coming up at the edge and the ends of some of the boards are warping. I'm faced with either removing and replacing the deck boards, or coming up with another solution. I plan on installing a support like you've described, then cutting off the ends and adding the picture frame; the new ends will rest on your solution. Thank you.
