Harry Harrison - BBC TV 'Off the Cuff' Poet and Humourist of The Original Black Country Night Out Show
Harry has been contributing his own brand of humour, poetry and philosophy to Black Country life for a good many years now. His numerous appearances on television and his various radio broadcasts, along with his public appearances in Jon Raven´s "Black Country Night Out" shows, his many solo performances and his widely selling "Off the Cuff" books have all combined to make him a very widely known and well liked Midland personality; the special B.B.C T.V. "Look Stranger" programme that was devoted to Harry in 1976 was yet another accolade in his active and varied life. Apart from these ´stage´ activities he has his own Black Country five minute columns in a number of Black Country papers and has completed over a thousand dialect poems since he started writing them in 1938. His only lengthy separation from the Black Country - he is from an old Black Country family - was during the second World War when he served with the R.A.F. Harry has become the anchor man for the "Black Country Night Out" shows using his great expertise to make a ´show´ out of the performances of the five individuals featured on this record.
