I knew it was gonna be garbage when they brought Han back smh!! The franchise was put to rest by the end of Fast 7 to me!! Everything else after that doesn't matter
I remember Speed Racer getting a lot of grief because it was unrealistic. Speed Racer went full in as a comic book and it did not pretend to be in the real world. However, this franchise roots were street racers have now become more comic book than the Avengers. Sadly Speed Racer is so underrated and the F 7-9 are overated.
Speed racer is awesome. GCI might have not aged well, but it was still an fun movie and wild to its core. Probably the only movie aside from Jupiter Ascending I ever liked from The Wachowkis. And its not just the fact that it went the full comic book route, but more so staying at the core template of the animated series, but going double of unrealistic, which is what made it worked in a way
@@Merdicano I fully agree, I think Speed Racer is a one-of-a-kind Masterpiece, they got so much right, not just in the look but in the storytelling, action, and flow, and all the while keeping true to the source material. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.
@@davidshoemaker4437 True that, true that. Though I have to say, I never watched the original animated series, but I get the idea of the vibrancy of the movie and concept of the world because of the subsequent animated series that came out during the time of the movie, Speed Racer: The Next Generation. And even if the cast was somewhat "whitewashed", they really nailed the physical look in all of them. John Goodman and Christina Ricci were completely alike to Pops Racer and Trixie, and Emile Hirsch WAS Speed since day one.
It appears that even a lot of the more committed fans are starting to go “Yeah, it’s been fun, but they’re really starting to overstay their welcome.”, and for good reason.
Ironically, the Vault stunt was largely practical. They built one that was capable of being dragged and then another that was a car inside of the vault so it could be driven through the streets. That said, I completely understand your point. In F5, as the action escalated to a point of absurdity, the action still had consequences on the characters and on the plot contributing to organically heightened stakes. The group was forced to flee the country and commit crimes as a consequence for breaking Dom out of jail, that's how they managed to get the chip. Finding out Mia was pregnant forced the group to change their plan and steal the money to "retire" and raise a family. Hobb's team was murdered which forced him to temporarily join forces with the group etc... Actions still had consequences which contributed to heightened stakes.
You nailed it. There were stakes. In Five, you felt like, if Hobbs catches them, they don't stand a chance. He was a palpable threat. Dom didn't fight him until he had to. Most of the time, he ran from him. There's none of that anymore. I guess I shouldn't compared the later movies to Five because Five is, I think, one of the best action movies ever made.
I like how people liked fast 6, 7, 8, Hobbs and Shaw but draw a line here. No keep that energy, shit was garbage since 6. Honest I think people say they like 7 JUST because of the Paul Walker tribute. 🤦
I mean Hobbs and Shaw did have a superhuman being and everyone loved it so then again it’s nothing that hasn’t already been established in this universe
I haven’t seen F9. I’m gonna go see it opening night on June 25th. I’ve been waiting for this movie. I’ve seen so many reviews, a lot say it’s really good, a lot say it’s really bad. But that happens with every movie. Not everyone is gonna like a movie the same as others. I’m a Huge FF fan. So I guess I’ll see what I think when it opens in the USA.
i have no clue what movie you guys saw. but this movie was funny , lighthearted, full of action , and heartfelt towards the end. the only part i didnt get was the ending and whether that was supposed to be brian pulling up or doms brother for dinner.
I like to think of the Fast and Furious franchise as a trilogy consisting of the first, Fast & Furious, and Fast Five. They are direct follow-ups to each other, and, because I think Fast Five is the best in the series, it would have concluded the series on a high note.
Any film can be edited to look good in a trailer. But once you actually see the full length movie then reality sets in. I was still skeptical because now all of a sudden Dom has a brother that has never been mentioned in the series until now. So that bit of mystery would have pulled me in. But now it’s like 🤨really! I thought Hobbs and Shaw went too far as well where reality is concerned.
You can imagine in their discussion room someone definitely asked "how are we gonna top the last movie?" and Roman Pearce gonna say shit like lets go to the space yo!!
Not having Chris Morgan as writer for F9 was felt throughout the movie. Chris somehow made the scripts work throughout the franchise. But he wasn't on F9 because he was busy writing Hobbs and Shaw.
I love the movies, but have watched all of them upset at one thing: no one ever wears seatbelts. That one little thing would make it a bit-more believable (that they can survive as much as they do).
He stayed away from this one because he has no interest in being in this series anymore. He got his spin-off franchise with Hobbs & Shaw, and that's where his focus is.
Despite all the negative things they said I feel like as someone who’s 2 favorite movies in this franchise are Fast 8 and Hobbs and Shaw I’m gonna end up having a total blast with the crazy ridiculousness that they say is in this movie
I think what ruined it also is the fact that they had to delay it’s release. Had that not happened I’m sure it would have made more in the box office regardless of how awful the story was.
8:20 the way John Describes it sadly makes me so damn excited to see this movie. I'm ok if it makes literally no sense personally. But if the story and character moments are awkward and unfitting that would be a huge issue for me.
From what I could recall, Hobbs and Shaw and The Fate of the Furious took it too far for me. I think Furious 7 was the limit. However, this film has had good entries before and I think they could maybe learn from this if it proves to be a failure or not do as good as they expected it to do with audiences and box office.
7 and 8 both made over a billion dollars. 9 probably won’t because of all the delays. And plus covid times so nothing is making as much money as it usually would.
It feels like John is finally starting to see FF for the shambles that it always has been. Arguably the most embarrassing film franchise in history. How these films make billion, I'll never truly understand.
One of the most embarrassing franchises for sure. Top 3 I think. 1) Twilight - lifeless and soulless 2) Transformers - Kaboom, nuff said. 3) Fast & Furious - from boring street race (1-3) to some actually interesting shift to heist genre with missions (4-7) to whatever the fuck happened later (8-20) it's really too much how these movies are getting so dumber.
The ending was typical broship crap and him giving away 1970 500 Charger to his little brother. There is no character development, secret connection of who gonna be the true villian towards Dom and the crew, etc. They need hurry and end this franchise fast because it went stale right after Fast6 and each film after clearly shows they don't know what to do after that
This franchise reminds me so much of how Resident Evil turned out before 7. It started off as a survival horror series until RE4 where they try to incorporate a lot more action and it gets more over the top in 5 and 6. This franchise went from street racing with cops and criminals to Mission Impossible but with more cars and more ridiculousness.
@@rcole718 I never looked up what any reviews said about RE6. I just bought the game myself and hated it before founding out what others thought of it.
@@digitalkid5623 The reviews shitted on it. I didn't think it was that bad. Maybe because I started with Leon's mission, which was more along the traditional RE storyline. Chris' mission turned it into Call of Duty.
As much as people hate on Fast 4, it definitely had the best street race sequence out of all the films, and also showed us that Brian was the better driver.
Just watched it and I only disliked the hand to hand fights, even though it was one of the reason why I was looking forward to it from the trailers. The car actions was the same ridiculous stuff that we expect from the past few movies so I was ok with it. Dom being Captain America still is one of the pet peeves I have with this movie.
Seems just a smidge hypocritical considering how much y’all praised the cartoony action of the other movies. Weren’t you guys excited about the prospect of them “going into space”? Now you guys want it to be more grounded? You can’t blame the filmmakers when they gave you exactly what you said you wanted.
Dom is the character I like the least, because he is a Mary Sue. Also as long as Han is cool I will check it out. Also I love that Rob mentioned burnout, because that’s one of my favourite games
Couldn't disagree more. These movies became unbelievable at Fast 5, and they've been better for it ever since, with the exception of F8 (separating Dom from the family didn't work and the sub was boring) I think of the F&F franchise like a wrestling match. It's hype because I choose to suspend my disbelief. I know it's insane, but insanity is why I am here. There was never hope for me taking this seriously, so the more ridiculous, the better, as long as the action is well directed (which I think is the case in F9)
I feel like this franchise is really trying to complete with The Mission series. The difference is that Mission films have actual plot and is somewhat grounded. I used to be so excited to see the Fast films, the post credit scenes always made me excited for the next one. But while watching Episode 7, it lost me entirely.
I think the key to enjoying this movie is going into it as a comedy. Me and my buddy were laughing our a** off for the Universal Studios ride of FF because of how ridiculous it was. That made the ride experience worth it at least.
I actually watched this movie for the first time a couple of days ago and it was entertaining. I liked it better than I expected due to how bad I heard it was. You know what you are getting in fast movies and I enjoyed it
Now that I saw the movie, I kinda of agree with John and Rob but my feelings of the franchise completely jumping the shark started with Fast 8 when they were racing torpedoes and submarines, cars driving by themselves. I also am a big fan of the franchise change from 4-7 but 8 is when I lost it and because of that I went in to this one with an even more open mind then the last few and kind of enjoyed this more then 8. I think the franchise should of ended with the passing of Paul Walker. 7 was the highest grossing at the time and they should have went out on a high note
After seeing the trailer I kind of feel like they have gone too far with the fast and furious movies. The unbelievability of the things now taking place in this series is what’s killing the series. I think I’m gonna pass on this movie and wait for it to have a digital release!
After hearing other reviews, about F9 It's a summer popcorn flick. I don't know why people take these movies seriously. It's entertainment something the world needs right now. Nothing about these movies are grounded in reality. Saying F9 is detached from reality makes no sense. Hobbs and Shaw didn't receive this type of criticism. and they had a super soldier lol I'm just not one to nit pick about outlandish stunts. If I can watch John Wick and Mission Impossible. I can definitely watch fast and furious
What I liked about the movie - John Cena - The relation between Dom & his brother - The friendship between the crew - That Roman Pierce scene 😂 What I didn't like - The absurdity - Han coming back & why he came back (this is coming from a Tokyo Drift fan) - The whole complex "Magnet" plot. And the cliche super device that can being down nations - Dom swinging the car with a rope & surviving - Dom taking down the plane. Honestly at this point I'm convinced that they have the super soldier serum
When people say that "It's supposed to be over the top and toying with physics". YES. That is true, but at the same time. There HAS to be some kind of stakes. F9 barely has stakes. Let alone a plot. When there's little stakes or a reason why to care the action just comes off as noise.
Hearing someone say “this movie is awful” makes me not want to see it because I take others opinions and I think that’s why it stains my own opinion after that, I will eventually see this movie (maybe) but ain’t no way I’m paying full price. Maybe when theatres open up in Canada in mid July, I’ll go on cheap Tuesday to a 2D showing
Hobbs & Shaw was good fun, too long, but good fun. The most WTF moment was Hobbs holding the chain hooked onto the helicopter with one hand and the truck his other... Channelling his unknown Black Adam powers there! I'm starting to think that perhaps Fast 5 to F9 is really just Riddick dreaming when in cryo-sleep... The longer he's in cryo-sleep, the longer his dreams as Dom on Earth become absurd. Post-Credits scene with F10, Riddick wakes up on Furya. heh. Probably explains why Dom can channel his "Fury," even though he's almost as ridiculously superhuman in "Chronicles of Riddick" and "Riddick" sometimes. See, it's just Riddick dreaming. ;) Admittedly, I have enjoyed some of the movies, but when nobody's getting legit hurt or killed (with the exception of Gal Gadot's character, whom I wouldn't be surprised if she "returned" in F10), it's gets beyond ridiculous. Not even a scratch, come on.
I was done with the franchise at 7th and was the one saying they shouldn't make more of these. The 7th ending was the best and I didn't want to ruin it, but money talks and here you go it just feels like avengers 6 with tony still alive.
I havent seen it. But im thinking watching this movie is like watching the final destination movies. I still want to see only because i care about the characters. But im walking in with very low expectations. Im still their for the franchise. But they need to step up their game for the next few movies.
You have to watch the FF franchise as a long live action anime series. Dom is the ultimate anime hero who just keeps getting stronger and stronger and can always pull off the most amazing things and never dies
Completely agreed with Rob. Certainly ridiculous moments from 6-8 but in a while it was mmm possible in their reality some not all. This movie just completely abandoned physics and reality. Its funny because ludacris does have a line where he mentions “the law of physic” and im like “lol but theres no physics at all” Diesel and Lin need to turn this ridiculousness down otherwise i see it heading into a sharknado road. Diesel needs a lightsaber to take down a 3 head dragon.
Boy, did I had best laugh while watching the live show during this reaction?, So basically Dom just become the Rey of Fast And The Furious. A completely invincible Gary Stu, haha. I would bet you ten bucks that they'll bring back Dwayne Johnson to save it again.
They've been treating Dom like an invincible superhero since the sixth movie. He drove his car out of that plane, rolled it, and they cut to an inside view of him in the car getting showered with glass. Then you see him walking out of the wreckage like nothing happened. It's a joke.
There always the same, saw the Fate of the furious and I thought Vin Diesel was going do die in that one. Now I saw this one and it just was so predictable 🙄.

After 30 years, Terminator 2 STILL beats the lot of these action films- why? Every action scene is REAL.
It's going to stay that way for another few decades. For me the only ones that came close were The Matrix, Fury Road, The Raid but yeah, T2 is still THE best.
@@factoryofdivisiveopinions If I'm being honest, I don't think any of them come remotely close. I respect your opinion however.
Raiders of the lost ark... an action masterpiece
T2 is still the greatest action movie ever made.
If you want an epic action movie with stunts that border on ridiculous watch True Lies.
Feels like the franchise died with Walker. i thought 8 was really bad, so i cant even fathom how much im not gonna like 9.
I knew it was gonna be garbage when they brought Han back smh!! The franchise was put to rest by the end of Fast 7 to me!! Everything else after that doesn't matter
Even worst Hans has no real purpose.
@@parabina exactly!! He died in the 3rd film..gave him closure in the 7th!! Fast 9 is here how did he come back
@Steven Mitchell 😂😂
I laughed so hard. Excellent review. Basically, the FF franchise is action movies for 6-year-olds. It's “Hot Wheels The Movie.”
They not for kids they have the animation for kids get a raise from your pawn broker sit down somewhere
The First one was and still is good to me
Honestly, 1-5 are good. It’s the rest that loses me. It was much more fun when they are outlaws.
True!
The first one is my favorite one!
"Family, transform and roll out!" If we're going this ridiculous, the perfect crossover is right there, just need Paramount and Hasbro to play ball.
Only if Universal cooperates, although I doubt Hasbro might want to work with them again due to what they did to Battleship
Gi Joe x Transformers x Family.
I'm just waiting on the confirmation that Dom and his crew are mutants.
Fast and furious/Jurassic world crossover should really happen 👍👍
At this point they might as well smh 🤦🏽♂️.
Or transformers like John and Rob have said
How about a Fast and the Furious Crossover with Back to the Future? Just like Jurassic world these are all owned by Universal
Are U sure? Don't u think the dinosaurs are too weak to be facing Vin diesel and his family just yet.
@@factoryofdivisiveopinions 😂
It appears that even a lot of the more committed fans are starting to go “Yeah, it’s been fun, but they’re really starting to overstay their welcome.”, and for good reason.

The casting of John cena killed it for me

True!! I think it should've ended at 3. 5 was a good movie but it went downhill when Vin Diesel started producing it (F4)
7 and 8 were terrible. Yeah, Paul Walker died, but that shit was still trash. This series turned to shit with the 30-mile runway.
U should come back and let us know what u thought of it
Dominic Toretto superpower is his belief in family
He can even take on superman
i have no clue what movie you guys saw. but this movie was funny , lighthearted, full of action , and heartfelt towards the end. the only part i didnt get was the ending and whether that was supposed to be brian pulling up or doms brother for dinner.
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if John Wick or the Winter Soldier make an appearance in the upcoming tenth film!
Even they're way less powerful than Toretto ha
I like to think of the Fast and Furious franchise as a trilogy consisting of the first, Fast & Furious, and Fast Five. They are direct follow-ups to each other, and, because I think Fast Five is the best in the series, it would have concluded the series on a high note.
Hello-
any Fast ..... without Paul Walker is sacrilegious. plus the various storylines were neatly tied up in F7.
I mean, I don’t think that any logical person could possibly watch the trailer for this thing and think that it looks good.
Welp, call me illogical because I loved the trailers and couldn't wait to see the film.
But John, they did have a tether. It involved a car, a stake in the ground, and a rope. 😂
sad part is they are proud of it. they think that its a masterpiece. you hardly see any movie any more we care about characters.
Why should we care? This is just a movie.
I love the movie.
You can imagine in their discussion room someone definitely asked "how are we gonna top the last movie?" and Roman Pearce gonna say shit like lets go to the space yo!!
Fast And Furious (4) is underrated imo
It's the same exact movie as 2.
F9 was terrible & I agree with both of them! It's definitely best comedy of the year!
I have to disagree with you respectfully sir fast9 is a funny movie but Mulan was to me by far the funniest film of the year love ya Jon and Rob
It's not that serious it's a movie.
@@baileyrowe15 Just big enough for you but you love big sticks😋
@@jeff3149 All movies can be critique
They should've stopped making these films when the main character died. RIP PW
6 would have been the perfect ending
I think 7 would've been the perfect ending given the sad / nostalgia montage at the end
Hobbs and Shaw showed this movie would be this way. Super Soliders in a racing/heist franchise 🥲
Now it makes sense why the Rock stayed away from this one.
He stayed away from this one because he has no interest in being in this series anymore. He got his spin-off franchise with Hobbs & Shaw, and that's where his focus is.
Rock is smart guy. Dodged a career ending bullet.
@@parabina lol him being in this shit would not be career ending bud
Despite all the negative things they said I feel like as someone who’s 2 favorite movies in this franchise are Fast 8 and Hobbs and Shaw I’m gonna end up having a total blast with the crazy ridiculousness that they say is in this movie
I seen a early screening its definitely ridiculous but I had a good time 🤷🏾♂️
8 is my favorite. I can't wait to see this one.
I managed to see it and really F9 was a huge disappointment and there was no emotion or character development at all.
It's FF. What did you expect?
I think what ruined it also is the fact that they had to delay it’s release. Had that not happened I’m sure it would have made more in the box office regardless of how awful the story was.
@couldn't think of a username Exactly, I think the excuses given to this franchise has made them lazy with the writing and direction.
Hobbs and Shaw was at least a bit funny
@@bert9201 True
7 and 8 both made over a billion dollars. 9 probably won’t because of all the delays. And plus covid times so nothing is making as much money as it usually would.
It feels like John is finally starting to see FF for the shambles that it always has been. Arguably the most embarrassing film franchise in history. How these films make billion, I'll never truly understand.
One of the most embarrassing franchises for sure. Top 3 I think.
1) Twilight - lifeless and soulless
2) Transformers - Kaboom, nuff said.
3) Fast & Furious - from boring street race (1-3) to some actually interesting shift to heist genre with missions (4-7) to whatever the fuck happened later (8-20) it's really too much how these movies are getting so dumber.
Don't forget about the 50 Shades franchise.
We don't even need the Avengers anymore.....Just call Dom & his "family"
They can even take down evil superman
The ending was typical broship crap and him giving away 1970 500 Charger to his little brother. There is no character development, secret connection of who gonna be the true villian towards Dom and the crew, etc. They need hurry and end this franchise fast because it went stale right after Fast6 and each film after clearly shows they don't know what to do after that
Fast Row the Tenth.
Lets get that petition made.
RE 6 wasn't as bad as the reviews said.
Fast and Furious 4 is really good!
Fast 5 was the best
Just watched it and I only disliked the hand to hand fights, even though it was one of the reason why I was looking forward to it from the trailers. The car actions was the same ridiculous stuff that we expect from the past few movies so I was ok with it. Dom being Captain America still is one of the pet peeves I have with this movie.
I know this is JC's show, but I liked Rob giving his opinion first, was nice change!
I haven’t watched a single one since 3, and my favorite is 2 😂 so I can rest easy knowing I’m not missing out on much.
But you missed out on Fast Five (which is considered the best one).
Seems just a smidge hypocritical considering how much y’all praised the cartoony action of the other movies. Weren’t you guys excited about the prospect of them “going into space”? Now you guys want it to be more grounded? You can’t blame the filmmakers when they gave you exactly what you said you wanted.
The scene you described of him pulling the chains and making the roof go down just sounds funny af 😂😂😂
Dom is the character I like the least, because he is a Mary Sue. Also as long as Han is cool I will check it out. Also I love that Rob mentioned burnout, because that’s one of my favourite games
Couldn't disagree more. These movies became unbelievable at Fast 5, and they've been better for it ever since, with the exception of F8 (separating Dom from the family didn't work and the sub was boring)
I think of the F&F franchise like a wrestling match.
Yes, shout out for Burnout!! 2 & 3 are both some of my favorite games ever
I think the key to enjoying this movie is going into it as a comedy. Me and my buddy were laughing our a** off for the Universal Studios ride of FF because of how ridiculous it was. That made the ride experience worth it at least.
Vin Diesel and the Rock are gonna have to get over their shit to try and get people back for the last one.
Bringing han back was a huge mistake it makes the events of fast 7 totally pointless
Blame Fate of the Furious for that. That movie fucked everything up by the Shaw Brothers good guys after everything they done in 6&7.
Lol
That is such a Shame. I was hoping for this to be a blast 😔✨🚘🛣.
Should have just stopped at 7. Walker/Rock carried films for me.
What I liked about the movie
- John Cena
- The relation between Dom & his brother
- The friendship between the crew
- That Roman Pierce scene 😂
What I didn't like
- The absurdity
- Han coming back & why he came back (this is coming from a Tokyo Drift fan)
- The whole complex "Magnet" plot. And the cliche super device that can being down nations
- Dom swinging the car with a rope & surviving
- Dom taking down the plane.
Honestly at this point I'm convinced that they have the super soldier serum
F10 : the team team’s up with the justice league and Superman drives a skyline and dome teaches Batman about family comes first
If that happen ima start shooting at school.
When people say that "It's supposed to be over the top and toying with physics". YES. That is true, but at the same time. There HAS to be some kind of stakes. F9 barely has stakes. Let alone a plot. When there's little stakes or a reason why to care the action just comes off as noise.
Well my expectations for this movie is not very high anymore thanks for your honesty
See, it's just Riddick dreaming. ;)
Admittedly, I have enjoyed some of the movies, but when nobody's getting legit hurt or killed (with the exception of Gal Gadot's character, whom I wouldn't be surprised if she "returned" in F10), it's gets beyond ridiculous. Not even a scratch, come on.
Everyone talking about Jakob never mentioned on previous FF movies. He’s been there all along…
Jakob: You can’t see me!!!
I was done with the franchise at 7th and was the one saying they shouldn't make more of these. The 7th ending was the best and I didn't want to ruin it, but money talks and here you go it just feels like avengers 6 with tony still alive.
I'm still excited for it.
I love all of the Fast Movies.
Can’t be more disappointing than 8 can it?
I actually really enjoyed F9. Guess I just like dumb fun movies like that 🚗💨
The first 3 movies we're classy 4/5&6 haven't been that good so I didn't even bother to watch 7/8&9
Fast and furious multivers of madness.
All doms forms in one movie (dom, Riddick, bloodshot, last witch hunter, xxx, groot)
John have faith. We can always put in end credit scene 8-9 with cypher was all in Romans HEAD…. He was dreaming.
