Loved the video! And my mom taught me and my sister very similar self defense when we were young. She said, if a guy attacks you--go for the eye balls and low balls!! Maybe you guys could do a follow up video on the do's and don'ts of groin kicks as well as let him try out different cups and head protection to see if they are practical for getting your significant other to help practice moves. Also I wonder if kicking barefoot (sandals) is different from shoes and would I hurt my foot or break toes if I kick an attacker. Hope to see you in more videos :-)
Exposing fake fighting techniques is informative and interesting, but reviewing useful techniques is equally informative and interesting. Please create more of these videos. Thanks for your work.

Technique 3: if your in the headlock make sure you turn your head inwards towards their body to maintain breathing. You can also leg sweep once they loosen.
Cobra choke seems like it could best be used against the wall or from side control. As for what do you do when you have someone in a headlock, you a) punch them in the face, b) kick out your feet and drive their face into the ground while you land on their head (Thanks Hacksaw Jim Duggan), or c) push down and forward and roll them onto the ground. Like with anything, you don't just hold on and stand there.
The second probably would work from behind after putting something behind the neck or head to make the person put their hand there, which would make it an ambush technique
Nice video, wouldn't mind seeing more like this. The "short range tip kick" is one way to apply kung fu's quite iconic simultaneous punch-kick that you often see in forms. I use it from time to time in sparring, it's quite effective at throwing your oponent off, it's the principle of changing levels but making a feint and the actual strike at the exact same time.
Yes. Jeff Chan. Great tips on MMA and nutrition. A favorite of mine. *Overhead shoulder lock* A Ju JiTsu pro like Danielle might get that lock on, but like you guys mention, who is going to comply and let you make all those intricate moves? Way complicated. *Knife defense.* Definitely a lot of strength when pushing when arms are locked out. I fear knives. If you watch the bus fight scene from "Nobody" you'll see how you can't stay long in that situation. A blade is a huge advantage, and every opportunity needs to be taken to get the heck out Dodge City. *Head lock* A great way to lose your "balls" (all four), or worse, get shiv'ed. Not recommended in a street altercation (well, street altercations are not recommended, period --- concealed weapons, friends of the assailant you didn't notice, concrete, etc...) *That Kick* Icy Mike has a variation of that. It's rather cool and has good application. Low kicks are probably better in a self-defense application. You don't want to lose balance or get your leg grabbed. If you're awesome with your kick boxing, sure. Another great video, FCB. Definitely no cringe-worthy stuff like that 63-year-old boxer vs. the 50-year-old Tai Chi advocate. That was painful to watch (but still worthy). :-)
I'll have to check out the movie "Nobody." Maybe even analyze the fight scene you're talking about. Thanks for the recommendation! Which cartoon character is that in your profile picture?
The problem I see particularly with the cobra choke is it seems your field of vision is really limited. And you don't have any control over your opponent's other hand. There's definitely a danger of them reaching into their pocket and pulling out a knife or a weapon in general. So you really need to follow this one up with something and not just stay in that position. Unless you're in a perfect 1v1 scenario and are certain there are no other dangers.
The “short teep“, oblique kick, or whatever you want to call it. We simply call it a stomp. I guess a “teep” is more of a push. Forward stomp is a strike with the heal, swinging the toes to the outside for the swinging open stomp, and toes swinging(or turning) to the inside for more of a side stomp or “side kick”. It should have good hinging power from both the knee and hip, plus the hard heal surface to strike. Good over all kick with multiple variations.
I agree, "stomp" or "stomp kick" gives a better idea of the purpose of that one. It can be a vicious combative technique if you target the side of the kneecap, so be careful how you use it with a training partner.
That particular oblique teep was actually a thing that UFC fighter Lorenz Larkin busted out on Neil Magny. Straight up knocked him on his butt with it. And Magny is not some low level fighter either- he is #8 in Welterweight right now. Definitely real. That footsweep is something legit as well, but it does require real timing. Posting on people is pretty terrific too. All this stuff is very Wing Chun looking shit, and its funny to see an MMA guy pull it all off better in a live situation than any of them can.
The headlock defence is standard Krav maga defence. In terms of how it comes about, it can come about from scuffling in a street fight and the headlock could head straight to the ground. In the latter case, roll with it and get on top into side control.
Technique 2 might be relevant if you're fighting over a weapon. I dunno, mostly what i see of it is on hard2hurt, but it seems to end up in weird positions like that.
I was really hoping to see you guys fully applying those moves. I like Danielle's energy, but she was wearing too nice of cloths to really spar or roll on the lawn.

Very good! Could you please show and explain in depth the palm strike technique on the nose? I think it's very effective and simple to do as a female self defense move. Thank you :)
I was a TKD practitioner for a long time, maybe 15 years or so, but the few times I had to fight for real, I used grappling techniques, and I think those are more useful and intuitive to perform than any technique involving punching or kicking. in order to kick or punch, you need too much information (where do I hit? how much force do I need to hit?) and you would get discouraged if your punches do anything to your opponent. But locking and holding techniques are easier because you just need one objective to focus on (the neck, I.e.), and once you grab your opponent's neck, it's a matter of time for the fight to be over. Btw, this is only valid if it's a (biological) man vs (biological) man combat.
Lol i 2 times found myself in a situation fighting was required. Both 2 bullies Both guys bigger than me. First 1 i kicked in his face and he went down instantly. Intentional kick. 2nd guy a few years later was annoying me for a while. One day he tried to shuv snow in my face from behind. I reacted on instinct. Turned and kicked towards the hand with snow breaking 3 fingers
To the first technique, as the attacker all you have to do to break the defence is just turn the blade into their wrists. Also it's so weird seeing somewhat legit info from expert village lol
Yeah, the expert village clip (at least the beginning of it was good). But then, as Danielle mentioned about the grabbing the hair after a strike, probably harder to do, but the initial setup was an alright tip! That expert village leaf channel is filled with hilarious bullshido. I remember doing a search of "self defense" or "martial arts" and it's just hilarious.
@@FightCommentary honestly "loosen the grip first" is good advice, the hair must hurt but grabbing the nose to move the whole is even better. I believe the scape works tbh
This kinda video is much better than just fighting analysis. In my opinion, focusing on techniques that DON'T work is useless. I don't watch this videos and I'd love if you'd focus on the new and modern techniques that seem to work, instead of bullshido and fight analysis. Even though analysis is the core of the channel. It's just my opinion and why I don't watch much of your content.
I'm surprised somebody didn't call the cops on you holding a knife above her like that... lol. Just sayin, if I'd just driven by, I'd probably have some deep concern at least before knew what was going on.
It depends how big the knife is and exactly where the defender catches the attackers arms: right across the wrist bones will reduce the attacker's hand mobility. Obviously, not so easy to pull off in a high-stress situation, but that's yet another reason why you wouldn't want to stay in that otherwise inferior position. Another reason is that there's also the possibility of the knife being dropped, tip-down, right into the defender's face.
@@jamesfrankiewicz5768 knife length to wrist catching distance relationship. The longer the knife blade, the closer it needs to be held to the wrist. Although the hand mobility could be bypassed by keeping arms straight and rotating the body to create a larger pivot. Yes; also as you said for the other points :). Being in that position means you've already made some big mistakes lol.

I've been using that short teep/oblique at my muay thai gym, ppl hate it :) You can really dig the heel in
I see the second technique potentially working from the mount if they are squirming and draw their arm up to avoid an Americana
Maybe the cobra techniques works well on the ground while grappling?
