      in every sector of military equipment russia has more options. which are not the same but have some overlaps. when using together, like units, there is additional bonus to that. and also because of variability of weapons systems, they are together as a whole, very capable, efficient and flexible. together with jamming, well greased command chains and implementing of ai and unmanned drones and vehicles, russia is really unbeatable at this time as defender. not talking about her enourmous vastness and resources...

      9K333 Verba missile. With a very small warhead (1.5 kg) and a maximum range of 6.5 km. The stinger has a 3 kg warhead with a 5 km range. You see the problem there? You sacrifice something to gain something. :)

      A very poor one. Most of the metaphors and imagery that they use are totally inappropriate and unnecessary. Quite a lot of the time, it doesn't make any sense, presumably because the concept doesn't translate properly from whatever native language the creator speaks.

    I'm picturing a small guided missile 3 feet in length and 2 inches in diameter. they select the same target seconds apart and if the first hits the second looks for its alternate target. Built for slow moving drones that can overwhelm the defensive system

      Actually, that's where it came from. Initially Gibka (without S), index 3М-47, since 2006 was mounted on warships and patrol boats.

      thing is ukraine does not have an air force or attack helicopters. I really doubt the russians even uses this equipment in the current conflict. They might be effective against drones but it has to be crazy expensive to use against drones

We heard S-400 was light years ahead of Patriot but then 13 Su 34/35 A-50 AWACS were shot down in 2 weeks, Storm Shadow , GMLRS and ATACMS bypass S-400 all the time and even S-400 destroy some too. Russian weapons are only light years ahead in hype.

    Wouldn't it be more cost-efficient to create anti-drone weapons that fires high explosive shells or shrapnel? The system on the ground can calculate speed, distance etc and set a timer on the shell (speed up a mechanical fuse) before firing a volley at incoming drones? Modifying WW2 type anti-aircraft and adding electronics actually seems like a good idea to me. But I'm not a politician so what do I know?

      Yeah they do have 57mm autocannon air-defence vehicles with directed-blast shells in development. But the Gibka-S is something that's ready for prime-time so for now it will do.

    cruise missiles, drones..... and A-10..no cover for the ground troops like they have in the Middle East. This system is a lot better than just shoulder mount. Not need to carry by a solder, can reload on the field where the missiles can just store inside the truck. Can relocate a lot faster than a ground troop. For the look of it, I think they can charge the max load from 4 to 8 very easily, just stack 4 more on the top.

      It's EXACTLY the same as shoulder mounted. It's just 4 of them, not 1. They do have impressive range and altitude though.

      @@Gunni1972 They are not "carry" by soldier and shoot by mounting on a soldier is what I meant "shoulder mount". Hand carry equipment in an open battle field is always avoided if possible. Only benefit of soldier carrying is avoid detention.

    reminds me of the 1970s soviet manpads mounted on their APcvs, that looked futuristic but was kinda junk, but not reallyc uzin areal war theyd be deadly, and amazing how cheap they can make it, just looks weirdhow its just hanging on the top of the car bouncin around,. all the mechanical stuff stickingout, seenms like it should have some case to surround it maybe

    Im American so I support my country and its allies, I expect any Russian citizen to do the same. TBH I wish we were allies with Russia instead of France and some other Nato nations. I really wish we would see more Russian news on the war. The fact is western media is gonna lie but so is Russian but at least if you could see both you could find the truth in the middle somewhere. Plus I wish USA and Russia would collaborate on some Aircraft designs, that would be so badass!

    Russians are the most adaptive people, they're able to come up with solutions when conditions are the most difficult. WW2 victory was a testament to this resilience and inventive spirit. Now, they're finding new means to fight new battles.

    6000 metre range on a light chassis is a cost effective approach. Ukraine are successful with drones and more expensive platforms are no longer suitable.
