As a personal trainer at one of the top Equinox gyms in a major US city I can relate to the Chelsea Piers gym. The main reason the memberships are on the 'higher end' is because the gym is meant for people to spend the day there, and even have work areas for the nomad/remote workers. Well worth it if you can afford it and fitness is a cornerstone in your life.
I would honestly spend all day at the Chelsea gym, especially if I pay that much a month for it!! Also, I heavily relate to that "violently American" statement about the pizza. They're also open 24/7. I tried a fancy gym once but it was full of kale salads and elderly women. There were barely any wights and the machines were all digital. It felt more like a nursing home spa than a gym.
I know the "worst" gym although not that location. Since it's a franchise, the quality of the gym depends on the owner. The one in my city is the best gym I've ever been to, but then again the owner is really responsive. I actually left a five-star review once, mentioning how chill people were about sharing squat racks. He thanked me on the review, then again in person when I went to the gym, adding that they would be putting in new squat racks soon. Two weeks later, they were there. Management is everything. Omg, that "worst" gym reminds me a lot of my local gym in Sweden! I live in a very small village and I'm lucky to even have a gym nearby at all. It's also in a basement level with no windows and fans instead of air conditioning, cracked walls, oddly yellow machines, and I often have it all to myself. Also the price is very similar. Differences is the gym in my village is much smaller, and there's barely any space to walk or do standing dumbbell exercises, or heck even to warm up, between the racks and machines. Also... the men's locker room only has two showers very close to each other. So if you're not alone in there, it gets kinda awkward. It's not a bad gym, imo. It has everything I need, which isn't much.
Been watching you for a long time! You’re the most funny and genuine fitness RUclipsr out there! Lost 30 kgs during my first fatloss then gained 10 kgs and now im cutting! Thanks for the motivation
Watching this, I now know that my intuition about gyms in Vancouver was right. Unfortunately it's sad especially in downtown. With the view and potential we have here. The price of the first one didn't seem that high for what they offer. Thanks for this video.
Great video - a couple of places I’ve been to had 330 and 350lb dumbells, mainly as a joke but one of the places had 220 and 245s and they seemed to be well used!
I went to a gym in Bristol city ( England ) it was underneath a hospital parking area, yes underground ! No cable machines etc, just a bench or 2 and free weights, no membership fee etc, just an honesty box which you put in whatever you could afford to, most guys just dropped in loose change each day, this was years ago, maybe knocking 18-19 years back, I can't remember the name of the place. No ego shit going on just decent low key guys wanting to strengthen up and train.
Wow I had no idea Chelsea Piers gym was so huge and cool! I was expecting him to say $500/month... I live here (in Brooklyn) and now have a new goal! xoxo
My high school didn’t have a gym so we used to go to the chelsea piers one! We did the bating cages, played soccer, ran, basketball. It was so much fun!
225 a month? That's not even bad! And the "worst" place seems to have plenty of new clean looking equipment. Way better than lots of gyms I've paid double for.
Been watching you for roughly 2 years and seeing how much your content has developed and gotten better (never bad tho) is so great to witness in real time. If you ever visit Ireland, there’s a Guinness waiting for ya
13:20 - The day pass cost makes sense. They discourage you from getting a day pass every day, provide a better value for the monthly in the hope you sign up and forget to cancel.
Too bad I missed you while you were in town Will. I was lucky enough to catch Jesse. The funniest part is I used to train at the Retro Fitness that is underground in lower Manhatten. & if you were really trying to find the best Pizza 🍕 you were in the wrong borough you should have visited Brooklyn. I got you next time on the REAL NYC experience around the boroughs
Honestly, $255/ month is not expensive; If you go every week, 4 days at least. For alot of people, they cannot afford vacations, or buy expensive stuff so spending 2-3h in this gym, probably feels amazing.
@@kookoo9235 you could say that about anything, people buy $200 shoes when $20 will do, people buy $20k+ cars when 2k will do. People spend $100 on a meal when you could spend $1. Let people spend money on what they want and stop judging lol.
Will quick video idea. If possible could you create a video on what beginners could do to increase muscle mass, especially for skinnier people trying to gain (i am increasing my calories intake). But i am soo confused at which workouts to do and what each machines to do/if i am doing it in a right form.
That "bad gym" looked absolutely fine. Maybe the rumoured owner is guilty of the low star rating, and a lack of AC is certainly an issue in summer, but the gym honestly looked like a great "iron dungeon", well equipped and focused towards just training hard and getting home to recover. And the smoothie bar even had a sharply dressed bartender in it, despite not getting the flavor right. But that's probably just New York for you.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much time and effort Will put in these videos? It's unbelievable, and they deserve a lot more than that! 😉🏆💪💪
Dang. I would live at that big gym over in NYC. Cardio, Lifting, Boxing, Basketball, etc. Amazing. Im over in Massachusetts, so not too far away. Great Video Man. ✌️💯
Will, there is a reason on the "bad" gym colors. According to some studies, the red yellow combination is good, happiness but also makes you wanna get out fast. Here is a description from an expert (not me xD) Looking at the positive psychology qualities of red & yellow in relation to the fast food industry, red triggers stimulation, appetite, hunger, it attracts attention. Yellow triggers the feelings of happiness and friendliness. When you combine red and yellow it’s about speed, quickness. In, eat and out again.
There's also downside of color-forced emotions, is that it causes the opposite reaction over time the more you look at it. There was a phenomenon back then where prisons would paint their cells pink because it was believed the color pink calms people down but overtime the body rejects it because it doesn't feel natural and ends up causing more anger.
2:37 It's a hex bar with built in racking position to add/remove weights. Topple it over for your lifts and then push it on the stands to add/remove plates. Going to the worst gym is one thing, but going to the worst pizza place another. Who knows what's going on with hygiene.

Will's videos are amazing but they are made immeasurably better when you envision Josh sitting at his computer editing them. Take the two white guys playing basketball bit and multiply it by Kofi filming it and Josh editing it (with the brick counter on)...☠️. Then he comes through with the clutch sound effects and voice over work. This team Will has put together is beyond entertaining. Also, Will is bigger than I thought for the algo.💪😈🤙
Agreed! Josh is really talented!
@@WillTennyson don't short change your genius in putting the entire team together sir. It's been a blast watching your studio grow. I mentioned it in the giant pizza episode if I'm not mistaken...you have managed to surround yourself with an amazing team. Well played💪😈🤙
@@WillTennyson p.s. since you're in the states already you should come stay at my place outside Dallas and get a garage gym (The Paragon's Forge) workout in with my progeny (The People's Paragon)...and his dad of course lol.
Really appreciate the kind words bro. Although I think your vision of me editing it last night isn’t as glamorous as you described 😂 Pounded two monsters with the curtains drawn while choking my router so it would upload the vid faster lmao
@@TheEditorJosh sprinkle in some witty commentary and infectious laughter and that's almost exactly what I had in mind buahahaha. 💪😈🤙
Man , im almost amazed at your talent... your videos are genius . thank you for making my life better with them :-D
Appreciate you Chris!
You should totally make Kofi do more of this challenges with you :D
That nice gym is totally worth the price tag. Especially if you go frequently
True though I heard NYC places like Equinox are great because they have so many. I could see this be limiting location wise compared to franchises.
I'm buying regardless of market conditions. If your goal is long term performance, this downturn should merely be looked at as a sale.

Been watching you for a long time! You’re the most funny and genuine fitness RUclipsr out there! Lost 30 kgs during my first fatloss then gained 10 kgs and now im cutting! Thanks for the motivation
Went to Chelsea Pierre when I was in NY just because of this video and it was so worth it! Loved the people, loved the vibes.
Watching this, I now know that my intuition about gyms in Vancouver was right. Unfortunately it's sad especially in downtown. With the view and potential we have here. The price of the first one didn't seem that high for what they offer. Thanks for this video.
Yea for Vancouver I only really ever liked equinox on west Georgia.
Great video - a couple of places I’ve been to had 330 and 350lb dumbells, mainly as a joke but one of the places had 220 and 245s and they seemed to be well used!
I just found your channel by accident but I can't stop watching and laughing my ass off 😆
Love the content!
Keep it up bud your content is class 👏
Thanks Patrick 👊🏻
Came for the fitness, stayed for the humor
Wow I had no idea Chelsea Piers gym was so huge and cool! I was expecting him to say $500/month... I live here (in Brooklyn) and now have a new goal! xoxo
My high school didn’t have a gym so we used to go to the chelsea piers one! We did the bating cages, played soccer, ran, basketball. It was so much fun!
Will never misses. Perfect way to start a Sunday 💪🏼😌
From Egypt with all the love in the world to the best RUclipsr out there , one day i will have the equipment and i will be like you ❤️
“If your favorite exercise is judging…”
Actually died 😂
13:20 - The day pass cost makes sense. They discourage you from getting a day pass every day, provide a better value for the monthly in the hope you sign up and forget to cancel.
Too bad I missed you while you were in town Will. I was lucky enough to catch Jesse. The funniest part is I used to train at the Retro Fitness that is underground in lower Manhatten.
& if you were really trying to find the best Pizza 🍕 you were in the wrong borough you should have visited Brooklyn.
I got you next time on the REAL NYC experience around the boroughs

Great to get a sneak peak in NYC GYMS as references!
Finally an f1 race isn’t playing at the time Will uploads so I can watch the video on time 🙌🏽
The crunch from the pizza at that Pizza shop at the end 👌, making me so hungie :'(
Honestly, $255/ month is not expensive; If you go every week, 4 days at least. For alot of people, they cannot afford vacations, or buy expensive stuff so spending 2-3h in this gym, probably feels amazing.
What are you doing in the gym for 3hrs?
@@supt4305 you workout for about an hour and a half. then you go to the sauna, hot tub, and stretch. That will easily take 3 hours.
@@Jwaukechon 30-60 min drink some pre, make a game plan
60-90 min workout
60 min jacuzzi, sauna, shower
That’s what I do
If you voluntarily pay 225 a month for a gym then you are being fucked. Jesus christ.
Congratulations 🎉

Will really said “This is where people from Assassins Creed train”😂😂
That "bad gym" looked absolutely fine. Maybe the rumoured owner is guilty of the low star rating, and a lack of AC is certainly an issue in summer, but the gym honestly looked like a great "iron dungeon", well equipped and focused towards just training hard and getting home to recover. And the smoothie bar even had a sharply dressed bartender in it, despite not getting the flavor right. But that's probably just New York for you.
“If you do group training, do you even lift?” 😂
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much time and effort Will put in these videos? It's unbelievable, and they deserve a lot more than that! 😉🏆💪💪
Keep them coming will! Love your content bro sick
Hello, fan!
Thanks for the love and support.

Dang. I would live at that big gym over in NYC. Cardio, Lifting, Boxing, Basketball, etc. Amazing. Im over in Massachusetts, so not too far away. Great Video Man. ✌️💯
Yea beautiful "curling racks" 💀😂
i was looking for this comment lol
My first gym was retro fitness. Started when I got my license at 16. Eventually shut down several years ago. Lots of memories.
Always love the content Will!
I love the boxing coach 🤣 "yeah buddy"
Thumbs up for the Algo Let's go Will you are an inspiration 🚀🥇
Thank you Matt!

i found your channel yesterday. i really like it. great work.

Idea
You should train and eat like an Elite boxer for a day 👀
Eating and training like Canelo Álvarez
That’ll be good for a title I think
But what do I know about RUclips 😂😂
Don’t they eat a shit ton of calories for training? 😂 that’d be fun to watch.
bro that gym is so huge you did like 2 weight exercises on your own and then the rest as just exploring and experiencing everything else! amazing!
Congratulations 🎉

Haven’t been to this gym but I’ve been to Chelsea piers for a dinner cruise and it is absolutely beautiful
I visited NYC earlier this year from the UK. I had a day pass to Chelsea piers and it was the best day out. Such a great complex
Will, there is a reason on the "bad" gym colors. According to some studies, the red yellow combination is good, happiness but also makes you wanna get out fast. Here is a description from an expert (not me xD)
Looking at the positive psychology qualities of red & yellow in relation to the fast food industry, red triggers stimulation, appetite, hunger, it attracts attention. Yellow triggers the feelings of happiness and friendliness.
When you combine red and yellow it’s about speed, quickness. In, eat and out again.
There's also downside of color-forced emotions, is that it causes the opposite reaction over time the more you look at it. There was a phenomenon back then where prisons would paint their cells pink because it was believed the color pink calms people down but overtime the body rejects it because it doesn't feel natural and ends up causing more anger.
wtf i love the way you talk and your humor lol
also the sand indoors lmfao
i would love to see will check out uks gyms
Honestly $225 feels like a great deal for that space in that location. Crazy
The “worst” gym is actually like 10x better than the one I go to💀
You should've walked outta the bad one at the c4 can .4 seconds into going in the bad one.
Your editor really crushed it on the chicken bit.
But I love that the worst wasn't the worst!
2:37 It's a hex bar with built in racking position to add/remove weights. Topple it over for your lifts and then push it on the stands to add/remove plates.
Going to the worst gym is one thing, but going to the worst pizza place another. Who knows what's going on with hygiene.
