      weight reduction. Foam filled interior, lightweight doors, windows, and seats, and remove the rear seats all together. Also, lights. Change the bulbs to LEDs and also change the covers. Not really a mod for performance, but being able to see so I don't crash into a pole would be nice. 😅

      Michael Boulan this is exactly what I thought. Buying a catback or flash tune is a little bit less than getting a solid set of 200-300 tw tires that will completely change the performance limitations of your car... plus upgrading your brakes is still limited by your tires so all upgrading the pads and lines does is change how quickly you can get to that same limitation, which applies to the tune as well.

    1) Learn how to drive well. Your local SCCA chapter offers very reasonably priced schools. Take advantage of it. I doubt many fully comprehend the competitive advantage brought about via skill. Wish I could show you.
    2) Tires. At the risk of stating the brutally obvious, they're your only connection to the road. Depending on where you live and how you drive, there isn't a best. I live in Upstate, NY - all four seasons. I'm on my third set of Hankook V12. Why not an even stickier tire? Well, it would allow me to be fast from May to September. The Hankooks are fairly predictable from March well into December, assuming there's no salt/snow. In addition, a stickier tire would take longer to warm up; doesn't work for my needs. They also weigh relatively low. The point is, consider your tires carefully. Good luck.

    Short shifters can also damage your transmission...
    Yes, good quality brake pads are worth the money, but stainless lines are more of eye candy on a daily driver.
    Good quality tires will probably improve your braking more than pads, though. If you can't grip the road, the best pads in the world won't stop you.

      @@OllieBonugli they have a tendency to cause greater strain and wear on syncros (primarily) and forks (somewhat).
      It's a common problem with Honda transmissions with short shifters. An expensive mod is to switch to carbon fiber syncros which will only eat themselves rather than the forks and shafts, but it's pricey.

    Not needed for the street but if you want to do hard driving while your up grading your brakes swap out your brake fluid for a racing brake fluid eg. ate type 200 dot 4 . Just like the brake pads the fluid will get hot to the point it can boil in the brake system. Racing brake fluid provides a higher boiling point which allows you to be harder on the braking system and helps to reduce brake fade. Some good performances brake pads braided lines and good quality racing brake fluid is a great way to start. Also you can use dot 4 inplace of dot 3 but not dot 3 inplace dot 4 and dot 5 only in dot 5!!!

    in my opinion: tires, weight reduction, exhaust, tunes, sway bars, suspension, and brakes are the cheapest upgrades for performance. stuff like bucket seats and such are great examples too. Comfort is important too.

    Is it more worth it to buy coilovers with no top hat or to buy lowering springs?

    • @FitmentIndustries
      @FitmentIndustries  5 лет назад

      Coils I mean either way you will be replacing materials, With lowering springs you will most likely need new springs!

  • @marunero3
    @marunero3 5 лет назад

    Wheels and tires? (not some overkill, but like cheap konigs are like 600$ and "cheap" tires are like 50-100 for one so 200-400 for a set so its 1k$)
    And maybe strut bars??

    If i use lowering springs, do i need to pair that with other suspension mods?

    • @ljguy300
      @ljguy300 5 лет назад +2

      Sadly yeah u gotta upgrade the shocks. I lowered my car with springs and my shocks blew out after 3 weeks. U gotta upgrade the shocks too. It was cheaper for me to go the coilover route than springs and shocks .

      @@lukehill1030 so my word of advice don't even bother w the springs it'll cost u more in the long run, just go straight for coil overs if you can't afford it save for it it's worth it. Megan racing EZ street II are on sale at import tuners. Com

      @@ljguy300 cheers man. So im not too informed on this but do the coilovers replace the springs and shocks. Also i couldnt find tuners.com could u leave a link. Thanks man

    • @ljguy300
      @ljguy300 5 лет назад +2

      @@lukehill1030 sorry didnt see this, its importtuners dot com(sorry fitmentindustries). And yeah coilovers replace whatever suspension you have. They will replace shock and spring. The shock is usually called a damper. My mistake was that I thought the stock dampers could handle the lower ride height of sport springs but they cant.my second mistake was that I though performance dampers are inexpensive, they are really pricey in comparison. Ex for my 2003 corolla I paid 280 for the springs and 890 for the dampers( koni yellow adjustable). For that price I could have just gotten the coilovers and had more adjustment not only in height but in dampness and rebound. So dont do like I did and think u can get cheap-er performance dampers and just have a sport spring to bring down ride height. Itll cost you more in the long run and itll be less beneficial. Lessons learned. Dm me on ig ljsrb
