Rwd is better than awd for track use, because of better weight distribution, and far less weight in general, awd is just better for launches, and even fwd cars have some performance advantages, like weight being centered at the front, which makes for a ton traction and down force at the front, this comment is such an over presumption, and it's not even close to correct

WwS ScythE it depends on how well it was taken care of. Mine has 285k miles on the stock motor and I make around 500hp. It’s not to expensive to maintain if you can do the work yourself but if you need to pay a shop it can get pricy quick.

One thing never mentioned about AWD is the even tire wear. Giving it a big advantage in racing. That's one of the main reasons Quattro got ban from quite a few different racing body's in the 80's and early 90's.

    • @relate97
      @relate97 5 лет назад +6

Jason Colby I don’t think nobody in these comments race professionally so actually it’s a burden for tire wear you always have to replace all four tires at the same time while most other options allow you to just replace front or rear and even then usually just has to flip the tires around

  • @Todd.T

Had all three at the same time. Supercharged, turbocharged and NA with dual intakes. Been AWD ever since. Mine is a 40/60, so it acts like a RWD when you lose it . FWD was a PITA with torque steer and the front end unweighting during acceleration. RWD was fun everywhere, but if you like to stomp on it and go, AWD is king on the street when using streetable car. Yes, I've driven a RWD on the street with slicks. Wheelstands from traffic lights are cool, until you kill someone. Nobody is expecting that and people are running to make it across the street to make the light.

They are awesome for doing just about every thing from making it onto a hoonigan video to ripping around the track or to just driving to work and to the store. I feel like it’s simply the most versatile. It does everything well and really doesn’t do much of anything bad. Atleast in my experiences.

Slam on the gas in a FWD and get a bit of torque steer and people want to count it as a major flaw.
Having owned all three kind of drivetrains I can honestly say most people in these comments are lying or just don’t really know anything about car or are taking their knowledge of video games and trying to apply it to real life.

I've driven all types in many different vehicles and the only orientation I don't like is fwd. I currently own a 98 impreza 2.5rs with wrx 5speed and I absolutely love the 50/50 torque split with it being more bias to the rear, instantly fell in love when I first drove it.

At the end of the day, drivetrain preferences doesn't matter as long as one finds bliss in driving his/her own car.

Awd: deep brake , turn quick and straight fast as possible

I always wanted a RWD but never had one, I’ve only had FWD but still had lots of fun with past cars I’ve had!
I was lucky enough to take part in a race day at Jonathan Palmer Autodrome in England quite a few years ago, on one track they had the Porsche GT3 and the Renault Clio Cup cars, and to be honest the Clio was a few seconds slower but it was SO much more fun to drive!! As mentioned in the video, it comes down to personal preference!! Nice video!! 😁

FWD is heavily underrated. Just lost my fully built 320HP 340TQ HHR SS which took hard sweeping right/lefts at 90+ with ease
but, AWD is king for performance street cars. Q50 AWD is new car and by far the most fun from driver experience and most planted in turns, not the best for putting power down(WHP) or braking but WAY more enjoyable

fwd is good off rolls and daily driving and torque steer feels nice but usually not a huge issue id say they have a decent top end. rwd is good for burnouts and performance but a lot of people tend to not be able to control them when they build them depending on the car, they have the most potential top end. awd best handling cars and launches but looses top end in a race

I stick to AWD vehicles now a days because i can keep up with jeeps and trucks in the winter and I feel safe having 4Matic my little old benz is a beast in the snow I love that thing!! I feel like if I'm gonna invest in a vehicle it needs to be able to handle ALL seasons vs not being able to simply run to the store because of alittle snow fall thats a waste of money to me and I'm typically the one giving everyone else a ride in winter because they either have FWD and RWD.. So AWD any day I'd take the ugly AWD car any day before the pretty RWD or FWD i just need something "practical" to get me from point A to B safely in all conditions and I don't feel safe in FWD or RWD in the snow absolutely not been their done that and it was a mess never again unless I have too.

Title should be more directed for a particular use.
Street: FWD is king.....90%+ of all miles are mileage placed on a car when it's already at speed. 0-60 doesn't mean anything as at any given moment you're already in motion.....with faster response, less drivetrain loss, less weight c-ya. Yet, not suitable for the 1/4 or road course (over all).
Drags: RWD is king kong! Period! Rains king, forget everything else.
    Crap weather, dirt, rally: AWD
