Beautifully done. I learned a lot about this new generation of wallets. The ability to hold cash is an important factor that is, however, largely overlooked, even disturbing as the authorities look to move us to a cashless society.
It's smaller that what I used the use & it finally shows it's size compared to the newest crop of minimalistic wallets. But hands down I d still take the FlipSide. Flips open easily to access your cards or wallet or cash. Never bothers me when I use it in my front pocket. No matter what I'm doing. Plus the attachments are nice!
Different strokes for different folks. 🙂 Part 1 had wallets that were closer to Ridge in their design or aesthetic. I think Ridge is a great wallet, so some people will still prefer that one.
Another interesting wallet is from Lockcard. They are a startup based in Germany and their wallet is very interesting. The wallet consists of two cover plates bound by a strap and you can buy modules ( for example a key module ) to fit your needs. Also they document their progress and how everything is made on social media.
Enjoyed the video. Glad I found this as when I watched Part 1 earlier today was like "where are Groove sliders!?!?!?" 😁 I have the Ridge, Ekster and Groove. I like how the Ridge will grow or shrink based on the number of cards you need it to hold. However, the Ridge went into a drawer when the cards went flying while trying to pull out the middle of 6 cards. Lucky for me I was at home and not in a store. The Ester trigger feels cheap. It's not as the entire quality feels and looks really good. But the wiggle of the trigger is a turn off. It also does not really fan out the cards the same each time double stacking the middle cards. The Groove slider has been in my pocket since I got it. Unless I am fidgeting with it. Capacity aside, the only complaint is the smooth face is hard to grip and slide without the grip sticker. I have the money clip (instead of the sleeve) and have used it to hold additional cards, hotel room keys, cash, checks, whatever I can fold to about that size. It holds and does not let go.
I enjoyed both of your Ridge killer videos and am now a subscriber. When I lost my Ridge I was having a hard time finding an alternative and especially trying to find good wallets made in the USA. When comparing wallets I am surprised you didn't choose to do like comparisons when filled with the same amount of cards, like 6 or 7 to show the true thickness and usability when accessing cards and money. This is a constantly changing market so it would be interesting to see an update to these comparison or any new entrants to the market. Thanks again for the great comparisons.
These are cool but leather wallets can be as slim, not scratchy, supple and more comfortable in your pocket, and just as easy to access the cards. Two perfect examples - Anson Calder and Rose Anvil.
I bought a cheapy ROCO thing. It's 2 plates with 2 different rubber straps (for different card capacity). The plates have an hour glass shape so you can push cards out from either direction. place my ID cards facing out on one side of my stack and debit/credit cards facing out on the other side. I carry 15 items. I can eliminate 3 store loyalty cards as you can just tell them your phone number. I bought it because my 8 year old leather wallet is starting to fall apart and didn't want to drop big money on something, only to find I don't care for the minimalistic approach. So far I kinda miss my old school back pocket leather wallet. But it's only been a week and I've not been shopping anywhere yet. I carry a separate money clip so I don't need that function with one of these things. Of the ones you reviewed, I think the Aviator would fit my needs better, but I'm cheap and $90 for the cheapest one is more than I want to spend. After that the Ekster. As far as tracker and air tag things. I've never once in my over 50 years of carrying a wallet, not known where it was.
Hold on to your first edition Ridges! Great options that are not ridge, but hate to say it, Ridge in the wallet world might turn into rolex form the watch world. The Nike Jordans of shoes, you get what I mean. I had mine since jan 2018, yes screws came out over the years but i banged it up so much and dropped it so many times it took forever to notice the screws were gone. Of course competition exists, to try to overthrow the legend wallet.
I'd like to see a demonstration of removing a card from the center of the Ekster wallet. It looks cool how the cards come out in the step pattern, however it seems like I would need to remove the top cards until I get to the card I need to use.
I really prefere the Ridge style over any of these (I say ridge style, because even knock offs work great) They even improved it with the magsafe version with the Magsafe compatible steel ring for extra secure hold. I think I prefer it because it reminds me of a fanin out a deck of cards. It becomes a fidget toy for me
I have the Dango M1 Maverick bi fold wallet and I loved it from day 1. The Dtex material they use was awesome at first but after 4 years everyday use it shows signs of wear.

@@ermal6157 For minimalist, I suggest the Dango Rail System wallet (no Bi-fold style). I carry 8 cards + cash behind the cards and I could barely feel its in my pocket.

Well , after your review I do like the Wallet. The only problem I see with it is the fact if you strap cash to it, the cash will block the one side of the cut out. This may or may not bother someone, but I personally don’t like that
Great channel! Was this paid for by Ridge? Ridge did the destroying here for the most part. I used a ridge for a few weeks 10 years ago but hated carrying around 2 slabs of metal & folding cash on a clip. Since been using a nylon slim but will be buying a Bellroy Flipcase next.
I had thought I would go for the fantomx but now i dont know. not sure if i would prefer the groovelife or the ekster more. I want something small, light, and satisfying. regarding the fantom x, how is it when using less than the suggested cards? I usually only carry 4 cards including insurance and id. does it still function well with only 2 or 3 cards?
I’ve used my Swiss Army aluminum RFID minimalist wallet for over a year now and it’s been amazing for me. My wife grabbed it and a pair of Swiss Army gloves from the store on one of our runs into town and their products have been really good. I’m pleased with it at least.
Both are great! I think from this list, those two are my favorites as well. I know it's personal taste, but I will tell you my experience. I recently went on a trip to Florida, and I figured I would use an RFID blocking wallet just for peace of mind. I ended up using the Fantom X and I LOVED it. It's such a small package, and the ease of use for getting cards out is intuitive, easy, and even fun. When we came back home, I accidentally left my Fantom wallet in my back pocket of some shorts I threw in the wash. I didn't realize it until I had my clothes in the dryer and heard an awful clanging sound like something heavy was rolling around. I looked inside and my Fantom wallet was just sitting there, damp and warm. When I took it out to survey the damage, not a single scratch or mark was on it. The mechanism worked perfectly, and the only thing I needed to do was air out my cards! Needless to say, this was a defining moment for my experience with Fantom! I'll mention this later on my channel. :)
I looking for a new wallet, my 12+ yr old leather wallet has seen better days, lol. I have a concern with the “trigger” type wallets though, I can just see myself triggering the mechanism when it’s in my pocket and that’s a concern of mine, how secure are they? And is there a type of “lock” to prevent accidentally triggering/releasing your cards?
well the trigger isn't like a gun trigger, so it won't accidentally fire. It's more like a "lever" action, that pushes them out with continuous pressure. But I have found them to be pretty secure. They're pretty resilient to falling out. They're not perfect, but it has never been an issue for me. With that said, I think all of these companies have great return policies, so you buy one and test it with your cards to see if it's sufficient for your needs. I hope that helps!
I never got onto the ridge wallet trend bc i refused to pay 50-100 bucks for that when my 12 dollar one ive had for damn near 10 years still works fine
I still have the original trayvax from when they started and it works fine still, but also have the contour and element both are just amazing. But at the moment using the rustic heirloom hitchhiker
Well I think you are being too literal. Almost every time I use the wallet, it fans out perfectly. But these are demo cards, which are a little different, and of course you aren't going to have a 100% actuation rate. But it's pretty much perfect ALMOST all of the time.
9:16 "You pull the lever on the side and each card fans out perfectly. Each time. Perfect." Yet as you are making that statement your video shows two card in the middle that are NOT fanned out.
The reason why ridge style wallets don't have a tracker card is because or the materials that they are make of a tracker card won't work because unlike with exster wallet their is no way to attach a card although you can get a dedicated model that can hold an air tag which only works with apple phones
All of these are really really cool, but look like they'd be bulky, hard and uncomfortable to carry in your front pocket, which is where I carry my current leather card case. None of the reviewers talk about front pocket fit or comfort. Can anyone comment on this please?
I think the ones in this video are tend to be more bulky, but the ones in my first Ridge Killers video are all pretty slim and small, and good for front pocket carry.
I wouldn't really say these are truly minimalist, but if you want smaller wallets similar to this, I would recommend my first video. ruclips.net/video/-VVKqePDb3w/видео.html
Yep, especially when Rossm makes the EXACT same product for 3-5x less while offering the same lifetime warranty now. People are getting suckered for their money with Ridge.
Cool wallets but I wouldn't say ridge 'destroyers'. That's a bit of a reach, especially when every wallet is bigger and the only reason you like it more is it's easier to deploy the cards than the ridge...
Personally I think these are all better than Ridge. But I can't make the title of a video "Wallets that many people might possibly consider moderately better than Ridge"

Just the fact that there are so many Ridge wallet vs whatever im going to get the Ridge. Because if it sucked so much it wouldnt be the base for comparing it to so many other wallets.
Ridge is an excellent wallet. The video isn't trying to say it's bad, but use it as a baseline to compare other minimalist style wallets. Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy your Ridge!
well, this isn't an exhaustive list. It was already a long video. lol. But I mostly wanted to focus on metal wallet designs. I will definitely mention Distil Union in the future.
Ridge wallet is 2 pieces of metal plate slapped together with an elastic band that is prone to fray and elasticity. Its functional and stylish but it is not top tier design honestly.
Meh. I have a vulkit minimalist wallet where you push out cards quick and easy. All these new wallets I've seen so far are all gimmicky only a few are good for certain needs if you're not a minimalist. I just need a minimalist wallet that can hold back up keys.
@@BeastMadeReviews not very convincing, still as it may can hold SOME coins, am type of person which after spending cash i get coins and just dont use them and overtime they stack on me, so idk, aviator seems nice but still i need a littel bit bigger for a littel bit more coins, i dont believe those trays hold that much. althought i really like the design.
@@matas_1 sovrn.co/172o72k this link should take you to the wallet. They have different colors and options. In the drop-down menu, they have a double coin tray option.
I mentioned that in the beginning of the video. These are wallets that took the idea that Ridge had and went a different direction. If you want to see my original video that had truer comparisons go here: ruclips.net/video/-VVKqePDb3w/видео.htmlsi=wsJ4WAngF3EENexC
If they don’t duplicate the design of Ridge, they’re not knockoffs. If you don’t like the changes, it’s cool. But these are all unique wallets that are great for people who might not like Ridge.
Most of these so called 'minimalist wallets', can you still call them wallets? They more like card holders then wallets, maybe i'm old skool but to me wallets should hold more than just cards. You can put money as well but you have to fold them 3 ways and its not good when you try to unfold.
yeah, I think it's just a matter of what you are willing to compromise. If you want a smaller wallet, you have to sacrifice something for that. Many of these wallets hold up to 12 cards, which is more than enough for me. As for cash, many people don't carry much cash on them, so that's a compromise they can live with. But these wallets aren't for everyone.

Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy your Ridge!
the trayvax contour is the best wallet out there, disappointed to not see it featured
I can always make a Part 3. 😁
definitely ridge's competitor. I only heard solid reviews of this piece of neat gear.
@@philipwillingham5950 dango wallets are pretty good too, but some of them can get pretty bulky
Who carries that many cards?
Let me be clear the ridge wallet didn't set the bar for anything
I disagree. It’s popular for a reason.
Where's Distil?
well, this isn't an exhaustive list. It was already a long video. lol. But I mostly wanted to focus on metal wallet designs. I will definitely mention Distil Union in the future.
Well all are too expensive.
Groove life = India made / trust my sources. But anyway, no matter from where its made, its good stuff.
People are still struggling to handling cards.. And in India we don't need cards.. Its simple done by UPIs. 😅
Hate trigger wallets
Dango Wallets are the top of the line.
Silly gadgety wallets all.
well yeah, that's the point of the video.
I don't believe these wallets are Ridge killers. They are more like novelty wallets. If you want a bulky wallet, just use a normal wallet 🤷♂️
I disagree. I think they’re all better than Ridge.
These are not the wallets, wallets hold cash and coins, i wish they would make something like this but add a littel bit space for coins and cash.
They do make that wallet! It's the Aviator Wallet, and it's phenomenal. Video here for more info: ruclips.net/video/-Nk9zPXUAzQ/видео.html
@@matas_1 I think they have a double-width coin slot option for their wallets
@@BeastMadeReviews can u link? 😄
@@matas_1 sovrn.co/172o72k this link should take you to the wallet. They have different colors and options. In the drop-down menu, they have a double coin tray option.
Not one wallet you showed was a “ridge killer”. They’re all too big and defeat the minimalist point of the ridge wallet.
@@BeastMadeReviews title says “Ridge destroyer/ Ridge killer”. All I see are big knock offs.
Knockoffs of what? These are all unique designs.
@@BeastMadeReviews they’re not unique when they wouldn’t have the idea without “Ridge” to begin with. Essentially makes it a cheap knock off.
If they don’t duplicate the design of Ridge, they’re not knockoffs. If you don’t like the changes, it’s cool. But these are all unique wallets that are great for people who might not like Ridge.
hah funny, this is only party of American's subpar copys of the original.
@@BeastMadeReviews have u seen George Costanza's wallet? Now that's a wallet 😆🤣
hahaha!
None of those wallets are even close to as good as The Ridge. Grasping at straws there, dude.
I disagree. I think they're better than Ridge. Ridge is a great wallet, and if you prefer that, more power to ya.
