Finally a neutral safety switch video that talks about the "indicator line" under the PRND321. Had this problem after changing a trans in a TAHOE. Thanks! Just solved my problem.
Used my superchip to check trans position indicates in 2nd causing no start. I replaced safety neutral with one from local auto parts stills indicating in 2nd. Made sure lever forward checked cable truck in park just indicate in second!
The key is when you change the tranny and put the new one or the repaired one , you need to install it back with fiscally in neutral before you put the neutral safety switch so, you will have a very good adjustment at once
i think its sopose to be in neutral before you start the adjustment then there is a line on the switch that you line it up to. well thats how the f250s are.
@@mjmcomputers do I need to adjust full clockwise when its not going into park fully without having to let it roll on an incline sometimes to achieve full park recognition so it will restart or turn of power to radio when doors open?

I have a 2013 c6 and just got my headers replaced i think something hit the switch goes into drive but the shifter moves free between neutral and drive. Parks just fine. Was kind of hard to put it in reserve had to get the shifter in the correct position
I got this problem with mine but between park and reverse im gonna try counter clock wise and see if this fixes it. Sometimes it wont start this maybe the reason i hope

Hey I recently replaced the rear main seal on my 05 Tahoe after reinstalling it all I bought a new safety neutral switch Iinstalled in with the trans in neutral and now On my instrument cluster the bar that shows up to let u know what gear you are in only shows up in reverse d321 doesn’t show up in park or neutral and it’s ticking me off I’ve tried adjusting the safety switch and it doesn’t help without it showing the bar in park the computer won’t allow the doors to unlock or turn the day time running lights off can u help?
Yes when I put it in reverse it goes into reverse and the indicator shows on the instrument panel I’m stumped about why it isn’t working when I replaced the rear seal it didn’t work properly so I adjust it and was able to get it to show up but then it went away so I bought a new switch and have adjust it as well and still isn’t working
Yes it will, I got some bright LED reverse lights for my 03 Chevy Silverado but they wouldn’t turn on. We checked the fuses & wires & everything was good. Then I found out I had to change my neutral reverse safety switch so they can turn on.

My 2003 Grand Prix is doing the same. I'm going to take the nut off of the selector on the transmission, unbolt the *neutral safety switch*, and take it off. Back in the car, put shifter in Neutral, then put the *neutral safety switch* to the N, then plug it back in, then put it on the transmission, and bolt it down , and then put it in park, and try starting it. Doin this in the mornin, let you know what happens.
what if i have a hard time with park? i have the trailblazer 4l60e and it shifts through all the gears with the stick reverse through first, but the display and all the relay clicks tells me it doesnt like to go to park or come out of it. i tore all this stuff apart so i can quickly over ride it, but i want to properly diagnose the issue. i just installed a new motor my self into this about 2 weeks ago, but it had been sitting for about 2 years prior to that. about 4 years ago i had the transmission out so i could but a new pump and torque converter in. maybe i didnt get the neutral safety switch turned just right? but i dont remember having this issue, but then again, maybe i did?
Will the P N safety switch prevent the xfer case from going into 4low? I get an indicator lite in P R D 3 2 1 but not in neutral. It'll go in and out of 4hi when it's in drive. But when I go to neutral and mash the 4low button, it will not engage. I took the xmission out, had it rebuilt and I reinstalled it with a new P N switch because I didn't know at the time you have to heat up the plug to pull it apart. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
My Silverado starts in the Park & Neutral positions. The gear shift inside is lined up on the different gears but the transmission won't shift into any gear? Is that the shift cable or the Neutral safety switch?
Mine does that but its confused between all of them except drive. Thinks its in Neutral for a little while even though I am in reverse. Then it moves over to reverse. Park does not show up except when I first start it. The 1, 2 do not show up at all.
@@mjmcomputers Bought another one and the same issue. Looks like its slipping on the shaft. Thus always in a different place. Going to line it back up and put some finger nail polish under it to glue it down.

I'm just curious? Before the adjustment, when 1st would not light up did you have 1st gear, or only 2nd till it lit up. That neutral switch, AKA range selector, does it tell the trans what gear it is in also?
Anyone help me out, I have a 04 gmc & I just replaced mine but now my truck revs at a high rpm 3k at 60mph & not sure why but it only happened whenever I replaced my neutral Saftey switch
Limp mode check the plug on the side of the transmission for fluid in the connector if you have any fluid in the connector clean it and use dielectric grease or vasoline it should come out of limp mode
If you put the ignition switch on and does not light on park , means that the neutral safety switch if off, you need to put in neutral to start the engine

It's a 2 part cable check where it comes thru the floor the connection between the cables is there it's also an adjustment point

When it shows up in reverse, is it actually in reverse?
Yes when I put it in reverse it goes into reverse and the indicator shows on the instrument panel I’m stumped about why it isn’t working when I replaced the rear seal it didn’t work properly so I adjust it and was able to get it to show up but then it went away so I bought a new switch and have adjust it as well and still isn’t working

Shift cable may be out of adjustment.

You will need to verify if the shift lever on the transmission is moving. If not it sounds like the cable.

Sounds like a internal failure.
Or it doesn't have enough xmission fluid in it.

the trans shifted fine, it wasn't that far out of adjustment.

QUESTION: I’m having an issue with my Tahoe not starting sometime. If i rock it back and fourth it starts, could this be the issue?
Rock the whole truck back and forth? Does the engine turn over at all?
