The reason why her movie was created so shortly after her death is because several major film companies were already in the process of creating a film without the family's authorization. The entire Quintanilla family was involved with the creation of this film, so we got an accurate depiction of her life.
@@s-wo8781 I've never seen the series but the movie is very accurate because it was done very shortly after her death and with her family's direct permission and input.
@@s-wo8781 They both are very accurate but of course they both are over dramatized. I would say the series is way more in depth and actually very true where the Movie is 98.9% REAL but few twisted facts and plus they skipped over so much of her real life trying to cram everything in 2 hour movie
The series was closer to the truth because apparently her father hated her husband an depicted him wrong to how he was and they didn't want him to get any benefits from it even though they were married.
Good thing they did. I remember the father in an interview. He was heavily involved in making sure this movie was accurate in one scene. When JLo was performing he bursting the tears and said it felt like it was his daughter coming back to life
This movie hits hard. It's it's impossible to not cry at the end of it, especially when they show the montage of pictures and videos of her as her song "Dreaming Of You" plays. Being Mexican-American myself, Selena was basically our Princess Diana. She was incredibly talented and supremely kind, But ultimately died young. She was only 23 at the time of her death.
@@ddvjbh Yup! But there was a part in a scene where the fans were pushing the stage in Mexico and Selena told A.B and the rest "Let's do Como La Flor. We start it soon" and sang that little piece "Como La Flor" that was J.Lo's voice
All the music was Selena's voice. Also some people don't know this but sprinkled throughout the movie are clips of the real Selena. You'll see various lower quality clips play briefly like the one of her getting up to accept her award at the Grammy's. That's real footage of the real Selena.
I don't think Chris has been entirely on board with everything Selena's family has done after her death. They really capitalized on it and it was kind of sick. I get why they did the movie so fast - more for their story to be out there and then it was the money. But everything after the movie was to make cash. At least AB used his actual skills and talent to do something other than re-releasing Selena material but even he capitalized on her voice.
@@victorialopez9717correct. Selena's father did everything he could to try and cut Chris out from any sort of inheritance when she died even tho they were married and he knew how much selena loved him.
Selena is QUEEN here in Texas!! I cry every time I see this movie. I was a teenager when Selena was hitting it big. We had bday parties at the park and you could hear her everywhere. When she died, there where yellow ribbons all over the park in honor of Selena. Anything for Selenas!!
Yolanda was very close to Selena and the family. She was even a bridesmaid in Selena’s sisters wedding. She even had a key to Selena’s home. It was later found out Yolanda stole from a previous employer. Sad how she repaid Selena’s kindness.
@@jjohnson4013she still isn’t to this day because she released a documentary and she’s just saying lies that selena had an affair and that she didn’t deserve it when she literally killed her
When Selena died I lived in New York and the memorial for her was massive, I remember being a little girl holding a candle in a plastic cup for her vigil. My mom was beside herself with sadness since she was such a huge part of the music culture in my home. Honestly RIP Selena.
This movie was basically closure for the people who love Selena, a memorial. In remembrance of her light and her life and what she accomplished in the short amount of time she lived. From childhood to young adulthood, Selena was working hard everyday to get to be where she was, and all of it was taken away instantly. Such a tragedy. Her music inspired so many young singers, she even inspired Beyonce to become a performer/singer. Everyone was touched by Selena’s music in some way, even now to this day, the music industry is forever changed because of her and singers of many backgrounds are now able to rise to fame because of the path she paved for them to be on stage performing. Much love 💕
The reason why the movie was made 2 years after her death was because newsreporters were picking up Yolanda's story. Yolanda made up this story that it was an accident and that Selena was going to leave her husband for this plastic surgeon in Mexico. Even Howard Stern put his 2 nasty cents in about Selena's death. Howard Stern was mocking Selena's music by playing gunshots in the back while playing her music. So the family was going through a lot of nasty things and they just wanted to clear up the nasty rumors that Yolanda was making up.
And also there were unauthorized productions in the works so the family felt like it was important to tell her story from their own experience rather than let Hollywood take the reigns without permission.
Omg I didn't know Howard did that.. what an absolutely horrible person. It doesn't matter what he thought about her personally, you just don't do that type of stuff.
Actually Aaliyah & Selena's lives a very similar Both had parents who sing & would later manage them as children in the industry, both started singing very young, both girls' very beautiful, both had fans who loved them & both girls died at the stardom of their careers their lives were from completely different backgrounds but were so similar in certain expects.
They also both died for very stupid reasons due to the selfish decisions of other people. Aaliyah boarded a small aircraft dangerously over weighted with gear used for the making of a music video which led to the plane crashing on ascent.
Selena remains one of the best selling Latin artists and has the title 'Queen of Tejano music'. When she was starting out, Tejano music was a very male dominated genre until she broke barriers and records so much that she is the first artist people think about when it comes to that genre. She sadly didn't finish her crossover album Dreaming of You but when it was released posthumously, it smashed records and it reached number one, a first for a Latin artist. I give this movie credit for making me a huge Selena fan, I don't speak Spanish but her songs are so so good that I even know the lyrics so easily. Her Astrodome performance remains iconic and it's chilling even listening to the live recording. She was only 23 and it's sad to think how much more she could've done, reminds me of rock n roll legend Buddy Holly who died at age 22 in that fatal plane crash. The Buddy Holly Story is also a very good biopic mostly thanks to the performance of the actor who played him, hope you can watch that.
@@victorhunter8900 It's just sad to think of the what could have been moments. They were really gonna launch her with so many high profile appearances to promote that album, appearing on the us talk shows etc. I wish she could've at least finished the album, there were some songs that she didn't get the chance to record....
Two things about Selena’s story was that she was very much into fashion and even designed the bands outfits when they performed! And also Selena and Chris’ relationship was very genuine and they were very much in love. Even for being so young they wanted to have a future together. It’s so sad because Chris wrote a book about his life with her and it took him forever to get over Selena’s death and move on with his life. That man truly loved her.
Yolanda is still alive she's serving time in Gatesville TX. My bro is a CO at the male prison right by the woman's prison, it was crazy when he first told me that she was there. She's eligible for parole in 2025 but she might as well just stay locked up because she's probably more safer behind bars than if she was free.
Apparently even the ones in Gpop even wanna kill her for what she did. Its why she needed to be in a separate cell by herself. Can’t say i blame them. They better not let that witch out.
If they release the bitch, the FBI will unfortunately help her hide and put her in some witness protection program. It's not right, she should remain in there until she dies.

I cant imagine anyone being mean just cause you havent seen or been informed of Selena. People are weird. Im glad you reacted to this and took the time to be more informed of what she was about. Maybe one day you guys can do a reaction to one of Selenas performances. She was incredible. I enjoyed watching the reaction!
I was a fan since Selena was 15 yrs. old. You were asking if she wrote her music. She had just started doing that, but the producer of her music was her brother A.B. Quintanilla who wrote alongside Pete Astudillo. You can honestly say that the whole group pitched in. Chris helped out with arrangements as well. She was a Texas treasure, and if you are a Texan, you remember where you were the day she died. I was at work. In my cubicle and it was the first day I took my jam box to work. It was on every channel, including English talk radio. It rained on that sad day, I live in Houston, all of Texas was mourning. Cars were driving with the headlights on, from March 31, 1995, until April 3, 1995, in her honor. It was the saddest day in Texas. Chris Perez had a tough time. He still plays and has his own group, The Chris Perez Project, and he won a Grammy for best new artist for the Album Resurrection, he wrote a song for Selena, "The best that I can." You can find many videos, documentaries, and now a Mini Series on Netflix, that tells much more about her and her family. Chris wrote a book called To Selena, with love. I highly recommend it. The movie was slightly based on a book written by Joe Nick Potowsky, a reporter from the magazine, the Texas Monthly, called Como La Flor. We, Mexican Americans, or Tejanos. Were very proud of her and loved the fact that she represented us. Selena didn't use security. She was very humble and was always willing to shake hands, do autographs, and talk to her fans. She lives on through her music, her smile, and her movies.
whenever I think about Selena, I get so sad because I feel like she would have been such an international phenomenon to this day if she were still alive to this day. she was taken from us way too early, but she did live an extraordinary life for the time that she was here. thanks for the reaction guys! ❤
I agree with you as we really missed a lot from Selena. I bet she would have played at the Superbowl and would have had a multiracial fanbase already in the 1990's. There are many inspiring things about Selena. As far as I know, she was already a big name in Latin America before her death (Mexico, Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, etc.). Sadly, she didn't had the chance to visit many of these countries.
I hope you guys see this because very few people don’t know Selena made all of their costumes on stage. For her to make all those costumes and be so creative at such a young age is amazing and the stage collapsing, Chris said it was very dramatic than on the movie, he said that he thought they were gonna die. It was to tragic for them to put it in the movie that’s why her death scene was so quick because Yolanda told Selena to meet her up at a hotel to “talk” long story later she shot Selena in her heart. Selena ran to the front desk, she told them who shot her. She bled out nd passed away. There’s a phone call of Selena in the back said her heart was burning .
The movie was made so quick after her death cause many people started to write books and wanted to put their own versions of her story out, so the family stopped that from happening back then by telling her story from their perspective in a respectful way. As we saw in the movie it was more about the highlights of her life.
You don't need to chicano to relate to the scene. Every diaspora feels just like what Abraham Quintanilla said. This is coming from a Pakistani living in Ireland.
A lot of people also thought that the movie was done too soon and that the family was trying to capitalize off her death, but the father insisted that he simply wanted to make sure that they were the ones that told Selena's story before a bunch of other people thought they could do it. They wanted to be true to her real life and since they were her family they knew they could do just that.
Here opening performance outfit and mic covered in her lipstick are held in the Selena museum runned by here family. For me it's like a 2 hour drive. Yes everything is bigger in Texas and after her passing Bush declare Selena day is honor of her. My parents before they got together seen Selena at one point before she skyrocketed
So an ironic twist. Selena Gomez; whose mother named her after this Selena in 1992(while she was still alive), met and befriended a rising social media talent: Christina Grimmie. Her step-father(Brian Teefey) became Christina's manager, and the two young ladies worked together; during her time with Disney and at the beginning of Gomez's solo career. Later they followed two very different paths but still kept in touch through social media as Selena continued to support Christina in everything she did. And all that she did in those seven years was amazing; including season 6 of The Voice which although she finished in third, resulted in a strong friendship with her coach Adam Levine. But in 2016, Christina's star fell at 22 years when a stalker shot her in front of fans at a meet and greet in Orlando, Florida. And the music industry as a whole was stunned, as many of her admirers performed tributes at their own concerts; including Selena Gomez, who after telling her fans how they met sang a worship song and wept. Now both Christina Grimmie and Selena Quintanilla are linked forever because of tragedy, but fans like myself prefer to remember them for their incredible talent and loving spirit... always. 💚💚
Selena was huge. I was a little white passing girl in Texas and my Hispanic Mom would watch her on TV and I knew who she was as a kid. When she passed, it was BIG news. Everyone knew who she was. It was very sad. Ppl were also mad that a Puerto Rican was playing a Mexican in the movie but J.Lo nailed it.
This is one of my favorite movies. So many things to say about what you guys were asking. Yolanda is still in prison in solitary, and requests parole very often. She is one of the most hated people within the Mexican community. People are waiting for her. And to this day, she continues to say she’s innocent of her crime. And the way Selena’s family have treated Chris after her death is such a shame. Netflix made a series about her life that gives a little bit more information behind the scenes. It has a mix reaction, but I actually really enjoyed it. Kudos for watching this. Love that Selena is still getting this exposure so many years after her death.
Shoot, the hate for yolanda has even surpassed the mexican community, I'm black and a lot of us hate her too 😂😂. But in all seriousness, I agree with the rest of your comment too (about the series, etc). It's so sad she was robbed of her life so young
Yeah, didn’t Chris say that her family but more so her father during his grief after Selena had died, that her parents manipulated or tricked him into signing legal papers to where they controlled all things related to Selena? Basically making him sign papers that regardless if Chris wanted to, he couldn’t write or publish any books or biography books he may wanted to about Selena, her family more so her father to prevent him from telling his side of things and to not make any profit? Even in the series, it based on what Chris later said, no one in her family were supportive of him dating or having had married Selena, only tolerating her. Especially Suzette her sister threatening to snitch on them to their parents when she was bitter that Chris had refused advances she made towards him prior to her finding out he was secretly dating Selena. I think Selena’s family is sort of messed up mainly her parents since they control and profit everything from since her passing, owning now all merchandise and things plus the now Selena Museum they run in TX. Seems like that and trying to lawsuits and court fight against Chris that their only invest in profiting of their late daughter/sister’s name and artist success. Hearing Chris’s side of things in interviews he’s done over the years, seems like it. He even said once in an interview years after Selena had died and the drama with her family, once he had tried dating again, got engaged and married settling down with someone new, her family were pissed and just amped up lawsuits of her father against him. It’s sad for both sides but I feel more bad for Chris. They may have lost a daughter and sister and only may feel they lost her but Chris was her best friend and husband who had lost her his wife.
Facts it believed the every time she up for parole she gets denied n people are waiting for her inside in there n out side too she won’t make it I normally don’t wish bad on people but I hope they get her slowly not quick
don’t worry, as a fellow Mexican who didn’t grow up speaking Spanish, everyone got something to say! Language doesn’t make culture. I’m learning Spanish slowly too, so don’t worry- just be you! P.S.- Anything for Selena’s !!! ❤️❤️❤️
she's from my family's home city- Corpus Christi. She's still INSANELY popular and most of her frequent haunts are still around- though the city has changed a lot. I always love those steps they sit on by the Gulf. There's a statue of her as well and even a festival. They either tore down or sealed up the room she was killed in at that motel or whatever. My mom always said Yolanda could never be released from prison because someone is for sure gonna 'get' her
I think part of the reason they made the death so sudden is because that’s how it was in real life… a young superstar with a very bright future was suddenly stuck by tragedy out of no where
When the movie came out, they didn't want to show her death . Just her life. Yolanda is still in jail but could get out soon. I got to see this movie in the theater. Love this movie.
JLo being casted was actually Hugely controversial at the time. Selena was the biggest Mexican-American female star at the time and the thought was that it should have been portrayed by a Mexican woman with Salma Hayek at the top of the list of those nearly casted.
Don't know if Salma would've been able to nail the American accent. But then again, JLo didn't really use Selena's real accent, which had a little bit of a southern drawl.
They definitely used her biggest songs in the movie. And yes, Selena was insanely loved. Even to this day, she is held in such high regard especially in Texas. The show was also good. It goes more in depth if you guys ever want to watch that. And her brother wrote the music, he produced it. And Yolanda Saldivar is still alive. And she actually becomes eligible for parole in 2025. I heard she had to be in solitary due to death threats, because everyone loved Selena.
Everytime I see something related to Selena, I feel both happy and sad. If she had lived, she would be as big or bigger than Shakira, JLO, Madonna and the others (because she was singing both in spanish and English and would soon have both audiences). Selena really had the whole package and that's why people are still interested in her after all these years.
Ironically, if she had lived J.lo wouldn't be here. It really was her catalyst. This was her breakout role and it's why columbia records was willing to give her a record deal. Selena was in fashion and was in talks to do a fragrance before she passed. I remember how some of Selena's fans got creeped out after j.lo became a singer. She made a fashion line and created a fragrance. It's like she picked up where Selena left off.
@@xejelah I completely agree and, to be honest, I would prefer to have Selena over JLO anytime. Selena deserved success more than JLO because 1. Selena earned everything the hard way, and 2. J.LO can't sing. LOL I'm really sure Selena would have had a long successful career with many hits in Spanish and English, like Shakira. Besides her Spanish songs we all know, the few songs she recorded in English really touch me. Selena really was a skillful and emotive singer, but also a great dancer and performer, which is JLO's talent. So I guess she would have managed to keep people interested in her new stuff (as the years go by), which is something Madonna did, but many other female singers failed to accomplish. I believe Selena would have because she really had the whole package. That is why I compared her to her peers.
Selena and her music continue to be passed down through generations. I was born in 2000 and learned through listening to my parents' music playing as I grew up. I plan to pass it down to my children as well and continue her legacy. A great person and voice that deserved more.
My mother was a big fan of Selena and I remember seeing this movie as a child. I had to muster up the strength to watch this reaction because I cry every time I see this movie. My mother passed when I was 9 so seeing it makes me think of her even more. Yolanda was sentenced to life in prison but this year it was announced that she would be up for parole in two years(march 2025) and of course, many were very pissed off by this news. She doesn't deserve to be released. Selena had so much more to do and achieve and she would've been such a great mom 🥹. I'm black and Puerto Rican and did not grow up speaking Spanish. I wish I knew it well but it is what it is. I still enjoy Spanish music. People can be mean and the best thing we can do is say fuck that, enjoy what we love, and try to educate ourselves on the things we really want to learn.
Yolanda keeps requesting early release or parole and everytime there’s even a whisper of it, people are threatening her Also the reason they made the movie so early, is there were supposedly two unauthorized biopics in the works and the family wanted to make sure the truth was told
I was 23 when Selena passed away born and raised in Texas most Latinos do not speak Spanish in Texas we have a southern draw just like Selena did -everyone loved Selena and still loves Selena her music is still played on the radio and they celebrate her legacy every year so glad you we’re finally able to see the movie and appreciate her both as an artist and as a person who was admired for the way she treated everyone especially her fans❤
NO, you're absolutely right 31:24 They're constantly compared because of the fact they both were beautiful young talented rising female stars of color that were considered a treasured piece in the culture and died so young by something that could've easily been prevented.
They probably would have followed the same trajectory into acting careers as well. Aaliyah had a fun role in "Romeo Must Die" with Jet Lee and Selena did a cameo in "Don Juan DeMarco" with Johnny Depp.
In the movie when Chris was auditioning for a spot on the band the up close part of the scene that was the real life Chris playing the guitar. He was tricked into "showing" them on how he plays the guitar, he had not idea that they were shooting his session and the producers put in the movie. The actress who played the friend that Selena was shopping with also played Salena's mom in the Selena series.
Her music touched so many people. She was even working with “Full Force” as producers on her english versions before she died. (Aka the bullies from House Party movies).
I was in the Navy and stationed outside of Corpus Christ from 1994-1998 and remember how Selena was very close to her fans and local community there. It was a total shock when watching the local news the day she died and all of the live coverage of her agent Yolanda baracaded inside of her car refusing to get out. Such a tragic ending to a talented, beautiful, and inspirational woman.
She gave the ring back to Yolanda I think that's what triggered her to shoot the doctors said had she shot a little higher or a little lower she probably would have lived she passed away 4yrs before I was born my mom went to her last concert without realizing it too I felt so bad for the lady who played Yolanda the backlash and threats she got for playing a killer is crazy because she is really sweet in real life and she played her so well ppl really thought she was Yolanda I know that when Selena Quintanilla died Chris Perez her husband got really depressed and got into drugs for a bit and then got clean for his kids he was married 2x after Selena passed and neither worked out but he remains friends with them for the kids sakes he still honours Selena and keeps in contact with her siblings him and the dad don't talk though they have beef again also this is the movie that jump started JLo's career

sad that she's gone cause someone too her life away too early, she's still the queen today, just imagine her being here in the music industry. i was born in 1991 of october, i'm 31 now, wish i could of seen her in concert.
AB Quintanilla (her brother) wrote and produced most of her music. After her death, he went on to form one of the biggest "Tejano" bands of all time - AB Quintanilla y Los Kumiba Kingz. They've broken up and reformed in several different versions but his music is still very popular in "Regional Mexican" music.

I still cry every single time i watch the ending to this movie, sometimes ill watch it and just turn it off when the end is coming cause it hits hard. my mom told me when i was little i would put on one of her bras and grab a hair brush and mimic every dance move of hers, as i believe so many other little girls did. Selena was so kind, pure hearted and still makes a huge impact on the Latino community to this day, it was a HUGE loss when she passed. she was destined for many great things
I remember dancing to her music when I was little and that, that I was born five years after her death. And still thought she was alive until saw the movie.
i’m from scotland in the uk and this film was my introduction to Selena and her music. Sadly i didn’t know of Selena until after her murder. Chris Perez was Selena’s husband for almost 3 years and in 2022 Chris still loves Selena. Have you seen the netflix series of Selena it was awful but i loved this Movie. The real Selena is in the movie at the end of the film. Yolanda is public enemy number 1. Selena is and always will be a role model and inspiration to everyone. Great reaction! I never knew about Selena until I saw this movie truth be told, it's such a sad tragic story she had so much life in her. J-Lo did a great job portraying her, and she looked so much like her, I think they made the right choice in casting her and I honestly think this is one of the best movies J-Lo has ever done. It's ok you didn't grow up learning Spanish - but now you can learn ☺
I have seen this movie alot threw out my life. It was in theaters this year on the 25th anniversary. I saw it in the theater it was great the reaction of the crowd was so amazing. Everyone seen it before and was singing and enjoying this movie. When Yolanda came on screen we booed her(the actress of Yolanda is great we booed the character) we all cried at the end. It was a great movie experience
Jlo was lip singing to Selena’s songs not sure if it was because they just wanted Selena’s voice to be heard period lol but I know Jlo was not signing at the time but I believe Jlo said after this movie it inspired her to sing cause I believe she always wanted to and the Little Selena I believe sang over Selena’s younger voice as well ❤❤ it was very devastating in the Hispanic community when she passed especially for the Mexicans she broke records with her music especially that at that time for her Genre of music she sang it was male dominant 🥰🙏🏼
This was a great review, all parts, genuine banter, no excessive pausing, and a true reaction at the end. Watching them get the feels from her death in a movie, when most of us lived through it as fans, was pretty sad. Jlo murdered this role, no pun intended..
Wow. What an absolute tragedy. She was such a beautiful person. She had the world ahead of her. I can’t imagine what her husband and family had to go through. RIP Selena. What a beautiful soul you were.
I was born in 92. I heard Selena on the radio all the time as a kid and I still go to her music for some nostalgia. Selena is a Queen, Rest in paradise.
I'm Mexican and Native American and I also don't speak Spanish sadly, but I'm learning slowly. My dad is fluent so I kno a little, n I grew up with this film. Selena died the year I was born, this is one of my favorite films. Her music and her voice is so lovely, I love her music. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. Loved the reaction. It's funny I also see my dad in Abraham just a little lol.
My aunt was a big Selena fan in the 90s and she had this movie VHS and showed it to us and my older sister loved the movie so much she would play it a lot and her music. I was just a kid and I didn't realize how popular Selena was in her time.
Also, if you want to expand more, on a similar subject I’d suggest doing la Bamba next. The Ritchie Valenz biopic starring Lou diamond Phillips. Like Selena Ritchie had a preference for english mudic, specifically rock and roll, but became more famous from his rock cover of the Mexican folk song La bamba. He died in a plane crash with buddy holly at age 17, just as he was skyrocketed to fame. The movie is insanely good, and so is the music.
My mom used to always play Selena when I was growing up that I truly felt like she was part of my life, so my 1st time watching the movie (at 8 years old) i balled like a baby at the ending. Gone too soon

I was 7 years old when she died. It was so heartbreaking. Selena was beautiful inside and out. Still bump her music
I cried on the inside for sure. I don’t always physically show my emotion but it’s there AMAZING MOVIE
I teared up.. damn it.. 😭
she really was. It's beautiful

Jlo wasn’t singing. That was all Selena’s voice. What an amazing voice she had. ❤
Indeed ✔️✔️🤍
Is that true?? Even that opening concert scene. I thought that was Jlo the whole time. I didn't even know that.
@@ddvjbh Yeah, me too, until I learned that was actually Selena’s voice because they wanted to honor her
@@ddvjbh Yup!
Selena’s husband Chris was very distraught for a very long time. He really loved her. The whole thing is a tragedy that shouldn’t have happened….
He just barely watched this movie within the last 10 years. And he didn’t even watch the last scenes.
Fun fact. The guitar solo at 16:50 was Selana’s Husband. Chris Perez. That’s why they just filmed the hands. Cause it was actually him playing it
💜💜💜
Fun fact: The scene when Selena was at the shopping mall is when beyonce met Selena for the 1st time when she was just a little girl.
Nope. It was a mall in Texas where both of them are from. It was the Galleria mall in Houston.
that's irrelevant to Selena's journey

Selena is QUEEN here in Texas!! I cry every time I see this movie. I was a teenager when Selena was hitting it big. We had bday parties at the park and you could hear her everywhere. When she died, there where yellow ribbons all over the park in honor of Selena. Anything for Selenas!!
Yolanda was very close to Selena and the family. She was even a bridesmaid in Selena’s sisters wedding. She even had a key to Selena’s home. It was later found out Yolanda stole from a previous employer. Sad how she repaid Selena’s kindness.
She was completely obsessed. Her apt bedroom was apparently completely covered in Selena photos her walls like a creepy shrine.

Much love 💕
Selena’s brother wrote the music and played guitar. That’s why in the beginning he said “maybe I will write the songs” when he was a little boy
Fun fact is that the name Selena means “Goddess of the Moon” which is one of the reasons for the moon motif in the movie.

It was made a year after her death and released the following year.
Yes that’s why it reminded me of that. That’s where I was coming from exactly

I'm a gringo fan of Selena as well. Yo si hablo espanol aunque con acento. I always wonder how the "Dreaming of You" tour would have been.
You never truly get over the death of someone special, you merely learn to live with it in your own way.
Exactly what I said bc the moment she out she’s gonna be assassinated
Apparently even the ones in Gpop even wanna kill her for what she did. Its why she needed to be in a separate cell by herself. Can’t say i blame them. They better not let that witch out.
If they release the bitch, the FBI will unfortunately help her hide and put her in some witness protection program. It's not right, she should remain in there until she dies.

I’ve seen this movie and heard the story of Selena a million times and somehow I was still as shocked as y’all when it got to the end 😭
It was sad. But a beautiful story she had up until then🙏🏼 can see why my mom loved it so much
I was a fan since Selena was 15 yrs.
Selena was the truth! Crazy how her life was taken. Bigup to all the young female Latina singers out there! Make Selena proud!
I second that 🙏🏼
I hope you guys see this because very few people don’t know Selena made all of their costumes on stage.

@@anythingforselenas_ She did a good job
She did indeed do a very good job i agree ‼️
This is one of my favorite movies. So many things to say about what you guys were asking. Yolanda is still in prison in solitary, and requests parole very often. She is one of the most hated people within the Mexican community. People are waiting for her. And to this day, she continues to say she’s innocent of her crime. And the way Selena’s family have treated Chris after her death is such a shame. Netflix made a series about her life that gives a little bit more information behind the scenes. It has a mix reaction, but I actually really enjoyed it. Kudos for watching this. Love that Selena is still getting this exposure so many years after her death.
Yolanda is such a psychopathic nobody. She only killed Selena because they found out she was stealing and got fired.
Do you know what the Netflix series name is? I'd like to check it out.
Facts it believed the every time she up for parole she gets denied n people are waiting for her inside in there n out side too she won’t make it I normally don’t wish bad on people but I hope they get her slowly not quick

she's from my family's home city- Corpus Christi.

She actually didn't lip sing, she danced in heals, no water no break no audio tune record live, there will never be a singer as good as her
I think part of the reason they made the death so sudden is because that’s how it was in real life… a young superstar with a very bright future was suddenly stuck by tragedy out of no where
When the movie came out, they didn't want to show her death .
I worked with Salma Hayek in a movie before. She's very sexy but J-Lo already had that stage performer background and was natural choice.
You can also notice how jlo changed her skin color over the years. It's no longer natural. Which you can sew here how it has changed significantly
Don't know if Salma would've been able to nail the American accent. But then again, JLo didn't really use Selena's real accent, which had a little bit of a southern drawl.
Caca was one of Brian's favorite childhood words! Lol!
Selena has a 🌐 Superfanbase. So, Yolanda is basically done for.
This was in my top 5 as a kid. I appreciate that they didn't overdo the death scene.

Yolanda keeps requesting early release or parole and everytime there’s even a whisper of it, people are threatening her
Also the reason they made the movie so early, is there were supposedly two unauthorized biopics in the works and the family wanted to make sure the truth was told

NO, you're absolutely right 31:24
They're constantly compared because of the fact they both were beautiful young talented rising female stars of color that were considered a treasured piece in the culture and died so young by something that could've easily been prevented.
Omfg are you serious?😢

NGL-When my now 25 year old daughter was around 2, I had her in the supermarket wagon seat @ Target, and the AP music was playing "I Could Fall In Love", my daughter yelled out "SELENA"! I've been playing the album so much that Shannon must have remembered who sang it!
My fave songs are Como la flor and Si Una Vez. Take care 😘🏴
La Bamba is a great move for you guys to watch it’s a bout Richie valets
I follow mr video and saw this video. Had to see it, love Selena and always will. Thank you for this collab, had never seen you before. Will follow. This was a nice video had a lot of fun watching it and tears at the end. 😢❤️
Also your mother does look like her, she was very beautiful❤️
Thank you 🙏🏼 and I miss her very much 🤍 she loved Selena. Maybe they’re both up there hanging with each other !
Remember when this movie came out I was in middle school. I cried soo hard. She was soo talented 😭 RIP Selena ❤️
Hairspray has some groovy songs!!!!
Selena is still huge today
She designed all of the bands costumes. And her brother A. B. Wrote all the songs.
Jennifer Peña sang for young Selena. She was a performer signed to Selena’s dads place Q Productions
This was a great review, all parts, genuine banter, no excessive pausing, and a true reaction at the end. Watching them get the feels from her death in a movie, when most of us lived through it as fans, was pretty sad. Jlo murdered this role, no pun intended..
Great reaction! I'm from Texas and Selena was it. That was actually Selena singing all the songs. Great reaction.
Wow. What an absolute tragedy. She was such a beautiful person. She had the world ahead of her. I can’t imagine what her husband and family had to go through. RIP Selena. What a beautiful soul you were.
We LOVEEE Chris, he’s an Angel.
I was born in 92. I heard Selena on the radio all the time as a kid and I still go to her music for some nostalgia. Selena is a Queen, Rest in paradise.
Let's Gooooooo Mr Video 😁🥳🥳
Instant like for Mr. Video appearing on another channel. This movie is a great movie.
Badass reactions friends first time meeting you two and I'm a big fan of MR Video always injoy watching he's video now you two have a new subscriber.
Yes so glad that you guys are watching the full version of this movie cause they cut out some of the parts of the movie.
That silence and empty astrodome with the microphone gets me every single time .
Okay y’all gotta react to her disco medley concert performance now that you’ve seen the movie. Y’all gotta see her perform live
That and her Cumbia medley
Nah
My mom used to always play Selena when I was growing up that I truly felt like she was part of my life, so my 1st time watching the movie (at 8 years old) i balled like a baby at the ending. Gone too soon
also not sure if anyone has said this yet but Yolanda about to be up for parole!!!!! She may be getting out soon.
Thanks for watching ! And hope you stick around 🤍 I loved this movie! I can see why my mom loved it so much 💪🏽
This movie is such classic and iconic at the same time, I was so in love with is movie still am.
