- Hi all! This is an August 2022 update: a moment of silence for the wonderful singer who made this song a hit with the Seekers, Judith Durham, who left us this week. Rest in peace, Judith.
Tom Springfield (Dusty's brother) wrote this semi-folk classic with its iconic 12-string opening riff and the Seekers memorably sang the hit version.
I continue to be delighted but astonished at all the kudos coming at me for this video. I just memorized the lyrics enough to be able to sing it without a lyric sheet in front of me, and worked out the guitar as I played it. (I did still botch one lyric, slightly.) So it wasn't that big a deal to me; I thought my performance adequate but nothing special. I guess one doesn't know one's own best work sometimes.

Simply love this song, listen to all the covers. Lyrics are phenomenal, but J D is the best. Sometimes cannot get this song out of my head.

A fantastic tribute to Judith Durham. I generally do not like covers of this song in a male voice, but this was absolutely great! You also sang solo, without harmonizing with others, or yourself, which made it sound much more folksy, and I liked that. It showed a side to this song I had never heard. You have a powerful and accurate voice. Thank you for the pleasure you gave me.

When you were young, I think you would have played and sang really nicely! Even with the passing of the years, her grandfather's playing skills and singing were not rusty at all. I signed up for a subscription today. Please live for a long time and sing a lot of good songs. I wish my grandfather's health far away from Korea.

Just a an excellent rendition. Your playing was perfect and you sang so well even avoiding singing treasure instead of pleasure. That line the way Tom Springfield wrote it was perfect. Thank you for your excelence and attention to detail.
Thank you. Yeah, I've heard people sing "treasure" in that line, but that wouldn't make a lot of sense to say "my treasure would be small" if I'd just been given "a fortune", would it?
