Whether they're just off doing their own thing or interacting with other characters they seem to work really well no matter the setting. I appreciate how this show never got too serious and it never tried to make you cry - it's main goal was for you to laugh and have fun while watching it and I GREATLY appreciate that especially nowadays when all the other TV shows are so dark and depressing. Skipper, Private, Kowalski, Rico, Julien, Maurice, Mort, and Marlene are some of my favorite characters of all time!
My absolute favorite on the show is Skipper - he has so much charisma, he's incredibly funny, and I admire how fearless he is. Skipper inspires me so much with his bravery and how he actually LOVES jumping into dangerous and risky situations - I seriously wish I could be brave enough to face anything, no matter how low the chances of succeeding are! I love how logical and smart Kowalski is, but I also love it whenever he shows his more emotional and sensitive side. Rico is such a wild character and I absolutely love that. And Private is probably the character in this show that is most like me (along with Marlene). I really love how kind and caring Private is. When it comes to Julien, I do think he was portrayed better in AHKJ and I wish that they would've taken the character development Julien had in that series and brought it into this one. It also would've been great if Julien starts off being really selfish and flawed in the beginning, but then have a redemption arc within the penguins' series. Nonetheless, I still really like his character in this series too. Just like how the dynamic between each of the penguins are great, I really thought the lemurs had a great dynamic with the penguins as well. I really liked Skipper and Julien's hate/love or frenemy type of relationship, I could see the two being closer as friends if Julien's character was written just a little bit better in the series. I also love Marlene, I wish we would've got more moments where she was hanging out with Skipper and Julien. I really love her dynamic with the two of them and I wanted to see more of it.
I can't be the only one that wishes this show would come back, right? Rather than another penguins' movie, I'd prefer more episodes of the show. I prefer seeing the penguins in a character-driven episodic show rather than in a plot driven movie. I also like the goofier and more light-hearted nature of the show. This show seriously deserves a reboot and also - they need to put ALL the episodes of Paramount Plus already! More people would probably be able to watch the show if all of it was available on a streaming platform. I believe The Penguins of Madagascar TV show is the BEST thing Dreamworks has ever created - YES, it's better than Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, and How To Train Your Dragon in my opinion. And the Madagascar franchise as a whole still is and always will be my favorite franchise from Dreamworks. Anyways thank you for making a show about the penguins' show, it deserves a lot more recognition and love!!❤️

This is such a well thought out and amazingly edited video, it's been a long time since I've felt like I was back in the thick of the fandom! PoM was such an important experience for me in so many ways, as a growing artist, my first experience in a fandom where I was able to contribute and make so many lasting friendships, it will always hold a special place in my heart. It got me through some the darkest times in my life, I honestly believe I wouldn't be alive without it.
It's so hard to choose as my fav of the Penguins, Kowalski and Skipper are definitely neck and neck, but Julien has my heart and soul. 💗

Oh gosh, I saw the title and was like "are you kidding??". I remember it being quite popular here in Poland (and tbh it still is popular!).
Man, I cannot emphasize how much I love this series, and how much it means to me. I grew up with it. I loved watching it daily when it was on TV. I watched every episode many times and never got bored.
Kinda sad that I almost never see anyone talk about this show on the internet though, so thanks for bringing attention to it :)
Edit: really glad to see so many fans in the comments, who still very much adore this show :)

I watched The Penguins of Madagascar near religiously and have probably seen nearly every episode if not all of them. When me and my brother watched this show, even if we got older and I went to college by the final episode, we both still loved this show. Kowalski was my favorite Penguin, but they all were great. King Julian was honestly hilarious oftentimes, either by himself or with people getting sick of him in universe. But also, I adored the Villains like Dr. Blowhole the Bottle nosed Dolphin, Hans the Puffin, The Red Squirrel, and Savio the Boa Constrictor. But also, there were so many side characters that I liked like Uncle Nigel and the other Zoo animals, and how varied the characters could be, ranging from new zoo residents, the park animals, supervillains, relatives, the Zoo staff (honestly the main lady I forgot the name of was really funny oftentimes.)

There was so much to enjoy out of this show, so many rememberable episodes, like the one where they fought doctor blowhole and chrome claw, the one where skipper is mistaken as a girl, that episode where Kowalski made a giant cube that legit ate Julien, and that one episode where Ricko ate a bomb, it got stuck in him, and the penguins trying to get it out of him before it explodes and kills him... beautiful stuff. ;)

I legit LOVED this show growing up! The penguins are just awesome characters and I love how they added new characters to the show which expanded upon the life inside the zoo. I really love how they expanded on the characters from the movies without it feeling out of left field or forced in any way. Kawalski being the science guy just made so much sense and it gave the writers a lot of opportunities to create inciting incidents, conflicts, or solutions to problems in the episodes. I always loved how Skipper was portrayed in the show too. Being confident not only in himself but confidence in his team as well. Rico's new scar and little mohak was just perfect character design. And Private is just the sweetest best penguin boy. Marline was my favorite addition to the cast. I always loved how she acted as the voice of reason for Skipper, and even a potential love interest. King Julian is pure gold in this show and I honeslty had no idea they changed his voice actor! The new guy they got did such an incredible job with King Julian that now he's the guy I think of when I think of King Julian.
Edit: my favorite penguin is Kawalski. He has some of the best lines in the show lol

I remember really loving this show as a kid and catching it on Nickelodeon whenever I could. Madagascar was already my bread and butter as a kid, heck, it used to be my favorite DreamWorks franchise. So a spin-off show starring probably the best side characters in the series was something I couldn't get enough of. I even remember the Halloween promo popping up on TV where Skipper was a "zombie", not to mention the Dr. Blowhole Arc. I loved the dynamic between the penguin brothers and whatever villians and shenanigans that got up to. DreamWorks really know how to use what worked to their advantage, they took their characters from this, what is seen as, mixed bag franchise. And made an awesome cartoon about them. I also really enjoyed Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness. The series they did about Monsters VS Aliens though was just...horrendous.
Also, I honestly agree that the lemurs were probably the most tedious and lowest part in this series, King Julien practically had no redeemable qualities, being 100% idiot, Maurice was miserable, Squidward-esque, hate-filled bore, and Mort...just existed, and liked feet. I'm glad they got their own series, All Hail King Julien, aside from the upgrade to a streaming service budget, the show itself is really great, it's also CRAZY, after watching that show Mort is the most interesting being in Madagascar lore, Julien still keeps his personality, but is actually a caring and competent king and pulls out some greay moments when it counts, and he and Maurice share many brotherly moments, Maurice no longer hates Julien but they simply disagree at times, even he admits Juliens odd luck gets them out of whatever jam they are in. He's a bit more upbeat and likeable. Really shows all the lemurs needed was focus.

This show ironically helps me teach the differences of definitions between similar words as part of my job as an English SAT tutor. Specifically one episode that i adore with all my heart, having the immortally hilarious gag of "Disarming the bomb is easy, you just have to cut the red wire. See? The wires are red, rouge, brick, scarlet, and periwinkle. Easy.", all while happening in a room lit up by a red alarm light to make them all look even more similar.
It's a way to make teaching the differences between "Fake, pseudo, mock, and faux" fun for students and get a laugh while doing so.

I think it's because this series was produced by DreamWorks Animation Television while the DreamWorks team handled the movie. It's similar to how when Spirit Riding Free (a 2017 Netflix series based on the 2002 Spirit movie) got a theatrical movie. The former was produced by DreamWorks Animation Television but the latter was produced by the regular DreamWorks team, and as such, they basically did whatever they wanted.
