    The Madagascar Trilogy is an iconic symbol of our childhoods. But there was another movie. Released at the same pace as the last 3, DreamWorks tried to make a spin-off movie with Penguins of Madagascar. It didn't do too well. Not a lot of us watched it I guess. So let's have a look at it now, 9 years on. Is it good? Is it bad? Was it worth it? Benedict Cumberbatch? This is DreamWorks Madagascar Spin-Off Movie...

    The Penguins of Madagascar works better than the Minions, which itself is a spin off of side characters and comedy relief, however, there was more possibilities for the Penguins rather than the Minions, since the Penguins had more character development, and many of the Penguins moments had clever comedy, similar to Puss in Boots, another Dreamworks spin off.

    This movie is hilarious. I especially love the gag, that the commands Dave gives to his minions, combined with their names form celebrity names. Dave overall is a really funny villain, and the Penguins are as loveable as ever, especially Private, who had a pretty good arc.

Or at the very least, if it had a subtitle like what Wallace and Gromit and Sony's Pirates had. Maybe "Wrath of the Octopi" or "Artic Mayham." What it had was basically the same title as the Nickelodeon show.

    Actually John DiMaggio is not technically the original voice of Rico. For the penguins TV show they decided to give some of the penguins professional voice actors, because the penguins were voiced in the beginning by DreamWorks producers. Kowalski was previously voiced by Chris Miller and then Jeff Bennet in the TV show. Rico was apparently first voiced by Jeffrey Katsenberg, although there are conflicting reports if John DiMaggio actually voiced Rico in Madagascar 2 & 3.

    Glad you liked it as much as I do. That observation about Cumberbatch I've seen before on Graham Norton, and it's still hilarious.
    I love how this 'spin-off' has all the care and effort of a Madagascar film. With excellent direction in the action scenes, rather like the big chase scene in Madagascar 3. I just came across this channel recently, but the way Dazz talks about camera angles in these movies, and how they convey a specific perspective to help emphasize the narrative... like damn, I never thought about that, you know? That just goes to show how well-made these movies can be.

    • @fenicearts9468
      @fenicearts9468 Месяц назад

      It is. HTTYD 2 and Penguins came out the same year, which means they were being worked on at the same time. It wouldn't be out of the question for the people working on Penguins to borrow a sheep model from the HTTYD 2 team that was only gonna be on screen for a few seconds in order to save on time and resources.

    I really, really loved this movie and I'm surprised it didn't get as much attention. It was sooo funny and was like an extended episode of the penguins Nickelodeon cartoon with a little more depth, which was exactly what 10 year old me wanted. Still love it now.

    I thought Penguins Of Madagscar was just alright but definitely not as good as the 3 main Madagascar movies or as good as another spinoff DreamWorks duology Puss In Boots.
    Also 5:30 You accidentally said Disney isntead of DreamWorks.

    The villian of Penguins of Madagascar isn't any better than the villians of the other films but it doesn't matter because the movie is about the penguins and their moments and that's where it shines.

    We want a sequeul but we dont NEED one. Thats what makes this movie great (that and Kowalski has always been my favourite) I LOVE it. Itll always be in my top 5 its my fricken childhood, anway... If we got a sequel then itd most likeky be great in an idea but with the movies nowadays itd probably suck... i mean it might be good but i think that dreamworks dropped that idea years ago.
    also I was mad that he didnt mention Kowalski being a simp that made me lauugh so fricken hard as a kid.

    Hot take: I think this movie was good, but it deserves a second chance. Just imagine if it got a phenomenal sequel, just like Puss In Boots! For example, I think the fight scenes with low frame rate would work perfectly in this case!

    This is Minions done right. Namely, no joke in every second, characters serving more than just comic relief, and not trying to pander to those who are fans of the series.
