- Another DreamWorks anniversary this week, this is DreamWorks' peak. And somehow being 20 years later, the effects of Shrek 2 are still being felt now. From pop culture impact, to IP endurance and of course the height of celebrity voice castings, this movie had a whole adventure to being made, and managed to still nail every aspect anyway. It is one of my favourite animated movies of all time. From directing, to writing and all sorts of adult jokes I only recognised later. Come join us as we dissect the story that is the production of DreamWorks' Most Influential Movie Of All Time. It's the 20 year anniversary of Shrek 2.

The DVD is also iconic. The case being a lime green, the sticker for the projector promotion on the front, the main menu and Far Far Away Idol, streaming has nothing on you having that DVD in your collection.

The best way to describe Shrek 2 is Dreamworks’ Guess who’s coming to Dinner with some fairy tale references. Also, Holding out for hero is one of the greatest climatic scenes in cinema history.

I’d say it’s hard, but I guess “The Last Wish” would be one of them, mainly because of the whole theme around the literal and figurative aspects of Death, and that it actually had the guts to briefly show blood in one of the earlier scenes.
I’d say it’s their most “adult” film ever thanks to those themes of death/mortality & Puss’ panic attack after Death tracks him down early on in the journey to the star. That movie was just so good

Shrek 2 retold just released its trailer.
Shrek 2 is second only to Prince of Egypt in my Dreamworks ranking.
I think it is a tie between Shrek 2 and Prince of Egypt because of the artistry and powerful stories.
They’re both great for different reasons, but I personally think prince of Egypt is better. Shrek 2 is much funnier and has some great moments, but I like how intense the prince of Egypt can be sometimes.

Jennifer Saunder's rendition of Holding out for a hero is gold. In fact, it pairs really well in a boss fight (Clive's shadow) in Final Fantasy 16.

Happy 20th Anniversary to Shrek 2 2004! Both the movie and the DVD is so iconic! I remember seeing this sequel in theaters when I was 5 Years Old in 2004! BTW It turned 20 on Sunday!
I remember going to see this in the theatre & it was such a fun time. It’s still my me of Dreamwork’s best especially early on in their run

It’s tempting to say that Shrek 2 is one of the greatest sequels in cinema history but I think I’ll say it anyway its hard to believe it’s been 20 years
I love the fact that the movie doesnt talk down to its audience.
Like, a lot of the jokes arent something a child would get, yet a child could still find them funny.
An exsmple would be the police brutality joke they make at one point where the police are grinding some pepper into literally everyones’ eyes.
For the kids it is a visually funny gag. They probably know pepper wouldnt be nice to get in your eyes, and the whole scene is just hilariously goofy. The adults/parents will understand the police officers have yet to invent peoperspray, so they are just using fresh grinded pepper.
