Thanks so much for watching! What are your thoughts on Loonatics Unleashed? Should it have had more time to grow for others to give it a chance? Let me know!
This show fell firmly into the "was that a real thing I saw or did I imagine it" category for me. That being said, I do miss it and hope it comes back in some form.
I just tried to convince one of my coworkers that this existed. They refused to believe me to the point I was sure that it was some fever dream. This video saved my credibility I swear
in my opinion, they should've done this plot with a new ip, looney tunes always was a bizarre quick-paced world which had ironically regular moments, this show seemed to abandon this formula for a more extended approach, which basically took out the essence of the original series
I bet this show would have a pretty good chance of success if they remade it as a streaming series today; it has the right balance of darker and lightheartedness that I think a lot of viewers want today.
No one at my age with a job or to busy with some games care to watch anything on Netflix or Hulu or any service online mobile or smart tv. Is just not for me to pay for something but if this been on youtube and had some time to watch on my phone or tv i could not mind. Kids have othet mentality nowadays...
@@valy225 that's you. My group stream shares, or allow anyone who is nice to use the service they are willing to pay for. We each only pay for one service, but have access to them all. Some of us don't pay for any. It's a good system. And we would love this show.
This was genuinely one of my favourite shows as a kid. I still remember so many of the episodes. My kid brain didn't actually compare it all that much to the Looney Tunes in the end. Maybe because The Bugs Buny and Tweety Show was always on at a time where I wasn't in control of the TV
Half of the shows in this series feel like a forgotten fever dream until I see the infamous words "WAIT... Remember _____?" and all of a sudden, memories flash back to my hardened adult brain and I remember saturday mornings, staying home from school being sick, snow days, and summer nights watching these shows with my brother. I can't thank you enough for the small hits of nostalgia and dopamine I get from these videos talking about my favorite shows growing up. Thanks bubba!
@@DragonKnight90001 you probably forget that a lot of old cartoons and/or episodes/seasons have been rerun for years (especially in poorer countries). That's how I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid, through reruns.
Even as a kid, I always preferred the more ..."serious" type of cartoons/shows, so I actually enjoyed seeing Bugs and the others being badass rather than goofy for a change lol
weirdest part is when I was a kid those goofy cartoons where never rly funny only cartoon i remember being funny when I was growing up was The Amazing World of Gumball
Same, I liked goofy here and there but my favorites were Teen Titans, ATLA, Cat Dog, Gargoyles, etc. Shows that we're either more serious in tone or touched on deeper topics and story.
The issue of this show “never to be done again” just gives me the whole 90s parents ignorant stance of “I don’t understand it and I don’t like it “ phase a lot of kids had to go through with.😂😂😂 This show was super dope and came out at the perfect time with all the other action cartoons that we all know and love.
and the fact that at the end he showed how in recent stuff wb references it just to use as a joke kinda rubs me the wrong way. Just because something doesn't work one time doesn't mean it should be labeled as the "bad example" to never do again.
It wasn't like that at all. Even back then, _kids_ recognized the Looney Tunes skinsuit as a soulless cash grab. If the show hadn't been a Looney Tunes show, it may have worked, but as an existing IP, Looney Tunes comes with baggage that the show simply couldn't carry.
This show was so much fun I still remember drawing the character designs. Honestly, I wished they had stuck with the direction of season one or the plot centric episodes of season two as it was a good balance of action, tension, comedy and character moments instead of it being imbalanced or having forced comedy.
I watched this show as a kid, I loved it. I did not know that there was this much controversy behind it. Also as a kid i did notice the change from season 1 to season 2 and I preferred season 1 because it had more action and they used their powers more
Yeah, it started out good, then got bad. The new theme song was atrocious. Still, it's cool that it gained a pretty dedicated, but tiny, following. Less cool is that snarky jab against Tech/Rev shippers. Rev: "Oh, Tech, I'd kiss you if you weren't a coyote and a man." Tech: "Lucky for me, I'm both."
@@valy225 I don't see how it's a gay joke when he specifically said "if" he wasn't a man. If Rev only said I'd kiss u if u wasn't a cayote (if molting that he does not care for him being a man) then it would lead to gay joke
What really sucks when it comes to shows like this is when the critics are too harsh to it. Criticism will always be around, it's how you're supposed to grow from taking advice from others to improve. The problem is that critics in media like TV or movies are not giving constructive criticism.
I think the real problem is that is cartoon just came out at a time where people were less accustomed to anything that was considered a classic deviating from the norm. This cartoon was not bad by any means, it's just in a lot of people judged it based on first appearances and didn't give it a chance.
I think Loonatics would have been recieved much better if it had been an original IP and not a wild reimagining of Looney Tunes. Honestly, it had so little in common with Looney Tunes that it could have just changed the names and some details and stood on its own
It felt like they were using name recognition to sell us a show that had nothing to do with the previous cartoons or why we loved them. Imagine if they remade Courage the Cowardly Dog, but it's in the future and courage is a giant mecha piloted by a woman named Muriel and a guy named Eustace and they'd battle giant kaiju versions of famous urban legend monsters. Is the premise pretty cool? Maybe, but there's no reason it has to be courage and it detracts from what they're trying to sell. Like they think "this show won't do well on its own, better tack on a name people recognize".
Yeah, I recalled the audience just didn't want it. It did seem like after it came out many warmed over to it. Might have been fine had it stayed longer. be nice if they made a CGI movie around it or maybe let Netflix take a crack at it.
Loonatics unleashed was a decent idea, and the backlash [it] received was unwarranted. You have your favorite characters given a "what if" treatment alongside their already established world-building.
@@adamshafeeq8685I’m guessing it’s because comics aren’t supposed to be silly like the looney tunes, but if that’s the reason then that’s stupid, because trying new things is the whole point of what ifs.
@@adamshafeeq8685they do a bit because we retread similar material a lot but "what if" scenarios give the author a lot of leeway to make something interesting (and truer to their own vison) without the expectation of following established canon from the reader. Basically its a problem that the companies have so little faith in new ips we have 1 million what ifs but they can also provide good comics with characters people while giving authors some chance to do thier own thing
Wish they wouldnt have given Buzz' and Lola's counterparts those "evil brows". They could have given them the original arrogant/relaxed look and it would make them resemble more but with the same confidence. Also why are Ace' ears so wide?
The part about how it's not really acknowledged that the team are super powered anthros living among humans and how they're treated because of it might have a lot to do with the Teen Titans inspiration. In TT, the team goes around the city doing normal stuff (parties, video stores, the pizza place, etc.) in full hero costume without anyone really acknowledging them as a super hero team or giving them much issue. Despite BB being green, Cyborg being half metal, and Robin already being well known as Batman's sidekick. I don't think their civilian names are even mentioned in the series, except for a few gags. Loonatics may have tried to copy that. but it's even weirder if your protagonists are only a handful of super powered anthros that exist in the world.
Well, to be completely fair on all accounts, remembering Looney Toons the OG, they were also talking andromorphs living in a "Human World" at least if Elmer Fudd is anything to go by. I mean he is a human hunter consciously talking to and arguing and joking with a talking rabbit and duck at times without losing a step. Im no looney toons history master or anything so I may be wrong, but this makes me think that maybe thats just the world. To be honest, the Teen Titans thing is a bit weirder because of how that world operates, i mean imagine Batman in full costume walking down the street? Paparazzi mob instantly.
Remember seeing some advertisements back in the day, but didn’t pay it much heed. Now, upon finding both the name and description of this series, really do like the character and background visuals. Something about neon colors and intricate and angular backgrounds, with a technology orientation, that I personally enjoy. I’ll also admit the confidence and sense of fun that I’ve observed in the characters (from what was seen so far on iTunes) has been particularly refreshing and inspiring.
I can tell how much care was put into the character design when you explained their powers, personality and appearances, and it is a shame that that effort was not recognised. This show was way ahead of its times, but losing sight of its demographic was, in my opinion, one of the worst mistakes they could ever do. A reboot would surely attract a fair share of attention now, provided that they do not dumb it down like they did with the Teen Titans, because thinking about what happened to them makes me shiver.
This video was the first time I'd ever heard of this show and for that very love put into the characters alone, I'm extremely sad I never got to experience it. This would've absolutely been a big show for me, even though I was a bit on the older end of my teens when it came out. I grew up on Looney Toons and adored Bugs and Daffy specifically in just about any iteration. Plus I was always a sucker for those "gritty futuristic AU" shows (Spiderman Unlimited and Batman Beyond, anyone?). I may have to find somewhere I can check the show out. Such a shame that it looks like the show's fall was due to poor timing and poor marketing.
I was so hyped when this came out and I didn't understand why people were so mad. People get so protective of things they like as if a new version somehow negates the thing they already like, but I've always been like GIVE ME ALL THE VERSIONS
The show was just released at a time when there's a western stigma for teenagers or young adults to get into animation and that took a toll on the industry to push their boundaries and creativity beyond a child friendly demographic. Nowadays with the global rise of anime and adult cartoons shows like these have a better chance at success.
But we had X-Men Evolution a few years prior, which was pretty mature as far as kid's cartoons go. Even further back we had Batman: the Animated Series and Spiderman: the Animated Series. We were already getting more mature cartoons in the 90's.
@𝕯𝖔𝖗𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖆 𝕬𝖗𝖓𝖆𝖚𝖑𝖙 Wow really? I was only like 7 years old when I first watched it so I guess I was pretty oblivious to all of that. It’s funny how different everything was in hindsight.
One of the biggest show of that time was TMNT it has characters Backster Stockman who lost part of his body for evey mistake that he made. By the 3rd season he completely lost his body and only have one eye and the brain. Good luck with such characters in modern cartoon
I really enjoyed Loonatics Unleashed as a kid. I'm surprised to hear that the concept and art style had so much backlash! That was exactly what intrigued me
I have always associated this show not with Looney Tunes, which many thought was obvious, but with the Sonic universe. In both shows there is an ordinary humanity and a small group of anthropomorphic animals with superpowers who resist alien invaders and local villains, even between the main characters you can draw parallels with their abilities.
This series has brought up old faint memories from my youth before, but nothing hit quite like this. This brought up memories from a folder I forgot even existed and that is a wild feeling. I vaguely recall liking Loonatics while it was on air. Would definitely watch it again if I can find it just to appreciate it now that I'm older.
One of my favorite shows growing up to the point I had to buy episodes when they wouldn't appear on streaming. The fact that WB didn't put this and Duck Dodgers on HBO Max was always a shame. Both deserve to gain relevance and find the audience they never could. I'd be insanely happy with a continuation or soft reboot of sorts like the Animaniacs (also the reference in that show for lunatics unleashed was dirty and gave me two heart attacks).
Its so strange that this show didnt get as much love as it deserved. Sure it was outthere for looney tunes but i always thought it to be a pretty creative adaptation of the characters. I was actually bummed as a kid when it got cancelled after 2 seasons and even as an adult i still think it holds up. People gotta be open to new things 🙄
It's just another version of "videogames cause violence" in parenting, still so many shit parents nowadays. Then again, the school system also makes little to no attempt to teach good parenting, so can't blame them too much.
I have to agree becuz I miss the opportunity to experience this show LIVE during the time it was aired. I couldn't watch it regardless of cable tv or antenna tv. I grew up watching Saturday TV shows and VHS tapes. So hearing a loonytoon cartoon being a future superhero theme of classics? I was ALL for it but due to circumstance and the cancel? Feels like my hype was a disappointment to others 🙄
I didn’t know a lot about the show outside of the designs and dark tone, but this video actually showed that they put in a lot of thought into the characters and were having a lot of fun with the concept.
Talk about a misunderstood series! This show was amazing! I love Loonatics unleashed. I really hope they get a comeback someday. I think the first season was the most fun but the second season at least had a few good episodes in it. Rev Runner was definitely my favorite character too.
There is one episode I recall more than any other, probably because it is counter to the gripes you mentioned. Mainly how they are practically the only anthro characters in a world of humans and episodes only focusing on the main task at hand. It's the episode where we meet Rev's family. Turns out his family run a very successful technology company and aren't too happy about their son being best friends with a coyote, even though he is a vegetarian, and the central conflict is more to do with relationships rather than a world ending threat. **edit. After a rewatch, I don't believe Tech is a vegetarian, it was a lie by Rev to ease things for his folks.
Another two good ones are the episode were duck finds an old oprhane friend and over the course learns he was a villain or the Amazon episode with lexi gaing more confidence and powers and learning to express herself more. These was sonmuch potential in this show.
Not only do I remember this show, I remember all of my friends at the time not liking it,making fun of it, and the feeling of isolation I had because I really enjoyed it.
This show is a perfect example of people (especially parents) disliking something because it is different. This world we live in doesn't like different. Everything must be samy and recognizable, something we are used to and feel comfortable with. The moment someone experiments and tries something different, people reject it because they don't know how they are supposed to feel about it.
Except this show was very "samy" to all the other action shows that were out around the same time. This had nothing to do with it being different in general and everything to do with it being blatant abuse of an IP. Taking known characters and changing them into something entirely different from what they are results, more often than not, in failure. People that like Looney Tunes weren't watching them because they want to watch superheroes, and people that want to watch superheroes weren't watching Looney Tunes, because that isn't what they were. So, by turning them into superheroes, they are trying to play to different groups while satisfying none of them (the video here even makes that point in regard to how they later tried to play down the action for younger kids while the overall theme was still primarily targeted to older kids).
I love this show and have binge watched it quite a few times over the years. It's a damn shame that it didn't work out back then because it really would work these days. Too bad there aren't any plans to remake the show and give it a second chance at life because I personally think that it really deserves to have one
I watched it when it came out, and utterly adored it. It reminded me a lot of the 2008 TMNT series, what with it's dark and edgy style, color-coded team motifs, and irreverent humor. I wish it could make a comeback.
Oh me too! That's the exact shoe it reminded me of, it's like a sort of TMNT and teen titans combo show. And reminds me of a bit of the flash too because of the powers (?).
I dont ever remember watching this as a kid and only heard it referenced several years after it was released. And when I saw a pic of the characters I thought to myself "Why? Who asked for this?". And I also thought these were just edgy versions of the original Looney Tunes characters. But after watching your video and finding out these are actually descendants of the old classic characters and seeing the clips of some of the fight scenes, this looks like a genuinely interesting show. As someone who loved Teen Titans and the old Justice League show, I might even check it out just to see if I'd like it myself. Thanks for another great vid Jordan.
Ahhhhh man, do I shamefully admit I do have this weird guilty pleasure with this particular cartoon back when it was airing at the time, which was during my cable television era. The first episode I started with was the one with golems and rocks in the first season, plus it had one of my favorite quotes: "Thaddeus Dare? 'Nut' is an understatement." Great video, as always!
I LOVED this show. I don't care what people says it was no master piece but if was pretty good and funny! Characters were pretty good Lexi was useful! And Danger Duck was my favorute! I miss this show. This and Storm Hawks.
@@byronrush9802 Not sure, I think Jordan would have done an review on that. Speaking of he should revisited Hot Wheels Battle Force 5, that was an amazing show.
I remember this being my favorite show as a kid. I loved the more serious tone and sci-fi setting. My parents were cool with it too. My dad used to put on 80s cartoons like Transformers and G.I. Joe, and my mom never the saw the harm in the show (I often heard her criticizing other parents for sheltering their kids too much for not letting them watch harmless shows like Scooby-Doo). My mom even recorded episodes for me when I asked. I was so confused by the tone shift in season 2, and I remember hating the season 2 theme song. The one from season 1 always got me excited, but I always cringed for season 2's intro. I thought it was such a fun show, I was genuinely confused when I found out a few years after it stopped airing that people hated it. It really was a decent show that people didn't get
What made the Era so good was the quantity and quality (though not the longevity). There was so much variety and cartoons increasingly had to go hard and be incredibly creative to attempt to find an audience. Nowadays it feels like they just gave up. Cartoons aren't made to appeal to families or all audiences anymore. But to little kids with most falling back on the most simple humor and a lot feeling generic and the same. The biggest problem is there just aren't that many anymore. DC's lineup now compared to any other Era of DC animation is kinda pathetic (and we keep hanging on the edge to see if shows like young justice even get renewed). It's not like there aren't still good animated shows, but they're much fewer and further between and generally feel less creative because of this with the great ones feeling like outliers. Also can't say how spread out among streaming services exclusives they are. Streaming is meant to improve access to media but with all of these exclusives and not just one launcher or browsing experience, kids are much less likely to watch all the good cartoons their Era has to offer.
While there are some good 2010's cartoons (Randy Cunningham, Max Steel, Generator Rex, Avengers EMH, Slugterra) i agree. 2000's cartoons give me feelings that most 2010's cartoons can't give me
It's so hard for me to believe parents in the US used to have so much influence about what kind of shows channels would show. In my country parents didn't care much about it. I still recall we had access to three or four channels, each with its own animated show at 8am for kids to watch before going to school (we would discuss them during breaks, one my friend would constantly use a catchphrase from one show, don't recall entirely but I think it was pronounced "djovan chopatsu" or something like that), and the episode would be shown again after the 3 pm news broadcast, so kids could watch it again if they missed it at the morning.
@Existential Crisis Core on Infinite Earths it has easier explanation - "cartoons are not for adults, they are for kids" mentality that turns into "all cartoons are child-friendly by default and not worth checking". That was the general idea back then.
"Djovan Chopatsu"? He's referring to the phrase Axel Maning says in A.T.O.M. Alpha Teens on Machines which is "Jo-Lan" a martial arts discipline. It's an amazing cartoon about a vigilante team!
Im glad in not the only one who remembers all the shows you post especially this and cyberchase. Loonatics was my favorite show back then and I watched it all on youtube but all those videos are gone.
I loved this show as a kid, I was genuinely so shocked when I found out that it had so much backlash considering the writing and character designs were so good. I honestly think it was ahead of its time.
I think it was too early for its type of cartoon. It was awesome to me as a kid, but most didn't like it back then. The audience wasn't there and it was similar to what kids are use to like you mention. Slowly more shows showed up like ben 10, generator rex, and chaotic. The audience came later, but a little too late for the company to see the value. I would definitely like to see it come back.
This show was part of the slate where every Saturday morning I would wake up drag the couch chair into the kitchen, and watch kids wb/cw for kids from 8-12. I miss being a kid.
Define a “Great idea, execution was just wrong.” But it really had potential, and that’s what I love and remember the most about this show. It had potential and I wish it had more of a chance to come back.
BBBRUH I BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEBODY TO MAKE A LOONATICS UNLEASHED VIDEO. most people won't remember this series dude. I like how it was a futuristic version of the loony tunes, well descendants but you get what im saying. I wish they would bring it back in anime typa format and make it better
I watched this show as a kid and generally enjoyed it. Every once in a while it pops back into my head. I'm a sucker for future worlds and environments and it was an interesting take for these characters. If a reboot or something came out on a streaming service I would likely watch it.
There were a good amount of tv shows such as these that were waay too early for their time. Some of these show concepts were very interesting as a kid, especially for one that watched nothing but cartoons and fantasy/sci-fi. It was a pretty dope tv show to give a new spin off the cartoon network classic characters. Like baby looney toons it was just a good spin off of the characters
I love this show, and it hurts to hear that Warner Bros. either hang it up in their office as a reminder of what not to do, or make fun of it (even in Teen Titans Go, a show that has NO business making fun of any other show ever). Hopefully, they do something with it later down the line. Plus, I feel like it’s partially Warner’s fault with the poor marketing and not fully explaining what this show was and who the characters were. Also, parents…stop ruining the stuff your kids watch.
Honestly, I just found your channel today and was so excited to see this! I thought I was the only person who remembered this show. Honestly, I loved it as a kid while it was airing. I was bummed when it got cancelled. And I saw some of it again, like 10 years ago. And still liked it then. It really sucks that WB has like a "never again" attitude toward it. Because, truly, I would be absolutely ecstatic if they revived this show or made a movie in this universe. It's still one of my favorite versions of Looney Tunes, to this day. Thanks for doing this video, it was amazing to see this show again! *Edit* Also, I want to thank you for including the "Black Ink" teaser. That hit me like a ton of bricks. I remember watching it when it aired and I was sooo hyped for the show the teaser aired. And I counted down the time until the show's premiere. My anticipation back then was through the roof. And it was great getting to relive that feeling again. Haha. Honestly, I hope WB does something with this. I would love to see it again, for real.
What I didn't like about it when it came out was it was just another formulaic case of taking a property and making them scowl, darken the whole thing and make it "extreme" or take a property and tack "babies" or "kids" at the end of their name that we saw so much of in that era and try and cram it down gullible fan's throats. What they never seemed to ask themselves was, would this make a good cartoon without using established properties? What if it used all new characters?
YES! And I love the idea 😊 they’re the very distant Descendants to looney tunes I discovered it on RUclips in 2014. I think the fans immediately assumed they’re the looney tunes in the future despite the fact that their names are all different 🤷♀️ it has so much potential 😭
Is kinda funny that since i could remember my early years, i allways watched WB animated shorts, (specially the ones of Coyote and Road Runner) and even then still found this reboot pretty interesting, as it felt mostly like an alternative take we could take the group of characters, specially considering this was a pretty 2000s thing. Even with how bizarre this was, it still felt genuine and well crafter honestly and not just as a desperate attempt to "appeal to everyone, get more profit..."
I honestly like the dark tone they were going for when i was a kid watching Lunatics Unlashed, It made all the looney Tune characters that i love look like total badazz, and i liked all the action that was going on and when they start showing all the legacy characters as villians or helpers on season 2, it made me more excited for each episodes coming in season 2
I remember really liking this show when I watched it on TV as a kid, and then I rewatched it online a year or two ago in the midst of the lockdown, and I really enjoyed it both times. I'm a little surprised though to hear that there was so much controversy surrounding the show.
I remember being and elementary school and there were some kids going around with the petition to “Save the Looney Tunes” and I definitely signed it. Although if I watched this show when it aired, I probably would have loved it.
One thing to mention, is that the show involved the Tremblays and the edgy vibe they brought to Swat Kats. That was the big reason I dig the first season so much.
I'm glad more people are giving this show a fair chance instead of just writing it off because of initial reactions. While I wouldn't say that it was the most groundbreaking or important cartoon out there, I think that it was a fun show with some cool action and designs, and that's all it needs to be. If there ever is a reboot, I'll be watching it day one
Dude I ADORED this show!!! I remember even writing a letter to cartoon network to please bring it back when I was 13, no response :,) my favorite character was Tech e coyote, I love how they made him a the technology guy because of all the super contraptions and inventions Wile e. would build xD and I very distinctly remember my favorite episode, everyone meets Road runners parents... and they are extremely prejudice towards Tech because he's a coyote, such a good episode!!! I loved the show and it's premise, Im glad you brought it up because i always even as a kid I had thought too, I loved the fact that they weren't really the loony toons themselves but rather the decendents of the og loony toons who got turned into super heros, as I feel like that interpretation always made more sense and im glad its what the show went with, really almost creating their own og IPs in doing so xD great video!!
I loved this series! I tried watching it all the time when it was on kidsWB. For all the reasons you said about the artists taking a new spin on Looney Tunes characters trying to be like Teen Titans or Batman, was exactly why I loved this series.
i vaguely remember the show's existence with them being the descendants of the original looney tunes and their character designs and concepts, don't remember the plot of a single episode
This was in the deepest depths of my memory, and I wasn’t aware that the very distinct memory I have of this show was of this show! AAHH WHY DO I LOVE IT
I remember watching this show on TV when I was young, it was interesting to see the characters, even though they are descendants, be reimagined as superheroes, not just comedic cartoon characters. There was a story and plenty of action which is a plus for me.
I remember this show when i was in high school. While the concept was strange, my childhood self said that this was still awesome. And I loved it despite the flaws. And when they finally became guardians in the center of the universe they didn't have the audience to mark for a 3rd season. So sad. But understandable.
Parents hated Animax way before hating this cartoon so is always a parent running the fun for their kids and will always be but now they are called "Karens". Animax got shut down in 2012 or 2014 because some parents didnt like explicit content on girl bodies 😳😏🙄
I genuinely remember nothing about the show besides that I loved it as a kid. I am definitely going to go back and rewatch it when I have time. I can get through 26 episodes.
I watched a couple episodes, but back then, I was pretty much occupied with other shows. It seemed pretty cool though, and honestly, if parents were angry at it, it must’ve done something right.
I didn't watch it at the time it released, just a few years ago, and I really enjoyed it, I remember liking the first season more, one of the things that changed in the second season was the dynamic between Tech and Rev, they were great friends with good communication, then in S2 they became like rivals who were trying to one up each other occasionally, I was so confused and disappointed at that change
I remember feeling really weird about this show as a kid, but also kinda liked it. Definitely had some good ideas, definitely a cool, kinda awkward little moment in my life.
I thought this show was the coolest when I was younger. I loved the designs and the intro, and just everything about it. It seemed so rare for me to catch it on teletoon:)
I remember watching this once as a kid, and Danger Duck was cornered by some enemy, his fireballs weren't working and he was panicking and I was just screaming at the screen "JUST TELEPORT! YOU CAN DO THAT!" Couldn't tell you what specific episode or anything it's just like a core memory. Like the show writers forgot one of his powers, it was weird.
I actually really enjoyed the first season of this show growing up. I could see this show taking on more of the world building and character development of Batman beyond. I would like to see this show come back one day
I found Loonatics online back in like 2014 and I LOVED it. Went through a huge phase. Bought it on DVD and everything. No it's not peak cinema but it got the ROTTMNT treatment---people wanted to hate it just because it differed from it's "source material." Too bad.
Omg I forgot about this show until I saw this video. I absolutely loved this show as a kid. And I also loved how how the looney toons are in their original cartoon kinda reflect their powers and personality. It’s like a parallels universe
I loved this show. The circus episode really stuck with me... Because I never got to see the ending. I hate when studios treat their creations as garbage when they're so much better than that.
I actually liked this a lot, it also came in a frame where CN was experimenting with a lot of shows, some worked, some didn't but it was a hell of a time having such variety.
I’ve been on a kick of getting into 90’s, 2000’s, late 2010’s stuff after being a weird puritan sticking to a small bubble of things and rarely stepping out of it. Mainly I stuck with Nintendo and Cartoon Network with very brief looks into other things Like SEGA’s Sonic or Disney shows. Hell, even within the bubble I made, I still narrowed it to a very specific area of enjoyment. Come 2022, and here I am in love with a bunch of obscure action adventure shows that got fucked over so badly. So getting a small view into this world through this video is real nice. I really hate how people are super strict when it comes to enjoyment of a new take on something. Share it might have its flaws, but basically insulting the people who made it and it’s fans blows. Anyways, now do a video on SWAT Kats. Same people who made that worked on this. Hell, it’s even more obscure as it got nuked by Hanna Barbera to make way for the Cartoon Cartoons. Much Ike this show, and others you’ve covered, it lasted 2 seasons, was marginally popular, and then vanished for good. At least it’s getting a comeback, so that’s neat.
I'm honestly so glad that ever since I've watched the loonatics for the first time, three years ago, more and more and people have started to appreciate this futuristic, superhero, edgy but-not-really version of the Looney Tunes. It's such a pleasure for me to watch over and over again. I really think that the characters are really the highlight of this series. Their dynamics with each other(especially that of Tech E. Coyote and Rev Runner) are so fun to watch and I just can't help but smile. It also made me appreciate the original Looney Tunes as well as I ended up watching them for the first time in a long time. I really think this show deserves another chance. If only because the concept is just so crazy, it's right up my alley lol.
This was said by a group that understand how, when and why there is animation: "new animation projects come to life when there is enough extra-money to spend on risk". Meaning that even if there is enough eyes watching, if it does not sell merchandise (specifically toys) it will not get the green-light.
I recently rewatched the series because memories of watching it just popped into my head. I believe that the show was a fun ride and should be given a chance.
I had never heard of this show prior to this video. This actually looks kinda cool. Kudos to whoever came up with the concept, because it's pretty neat.
I actually remembered really liking this show so i was a little worried that my nostalgia was getting the better of me but i'm glad to see that it still looks great and feels fun. Wish it didn't get cancelled :(
Thanks so much for watching! What are your thoughts on Loonatics Unleashed? Should it have had more time to grow for others to give it a chance? Let me know!
I LOVED Loonatics Unleashed!
This is literally a show that defined my childhood
Never seen this show
Absolutely still adore this show.
It's a good show ngl, especially when i saw a new bunny. That's the extreme version.

You and me both, brother. I loved this show.

This show fell firmly into the "was that a real thing I saw or did I imagine it" category for me.
That being said, I do miss it and hope it comes back in some form.
That was the Buzz Lightyear cartoon for me
I just tried to convince one of my coworkers that this existed. They refused to believe me to the point I was sure that it was some fever dream.
This video saved my credibility I swear
Word lol I seen the thumbnail and was like “ohhhhh yeeaahhhhhh” 🤔😮😄
It came back for a bit on Animaniacs, if only to get dissed on. But hey, it’s like WB knows this was a show that happened.
It's unlikely given that it has been used as an example of what to not do when creating a show. That's official.
I find it funny how Rev and Tech's ancestors are their own worst enemies, yet they themselves are great friends.
It's like Mega Man X and Zero.
That's growth man.
I feel like this show didn't get the love it deserves. It was so bizarrely awesome!
I liked this show!
I agree. Its like teen titans meet the Looney toons
in my opinion, they should've done this plot with a new ip, looney tunes always was a bizarre quick-paced world which had ironically regular moments, this show seemed to abandon this formula for a more extended approach, which basically took out the essence of the original series
🧢
I always thought it was a weird fever dream but I'm glad it people know it exists and enjoyed it
I bet this show would have a pretty good chance of success if they remade it as a streaming series today; it has the right balance of darker and lightheartedness that I think a lot of viewers want today.
No one at my age with a job or to busy with some games care to watch anything on Netflix or Hulu or any service online mobile or smart tv.

They would probably make it woke
If this doesn’t describe the beauty of being a late 90s child, I don’t know what it does
To bad times are changing honestly I think some of todays kids would have enjoyed these.

@@DragonKnight90001 you probably forget that a lot of old cartoons and/or episodes/seasons have been rerun for years (especially in poorer countries). That's how I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid, through reruns.
@@lol-ih1tl that is true but for me the rerun here and there was when we missed out the episode and they put it on the next day.
Even as a kid, I always preferred the more ..."serious" type of cartoons/shows, so I actually enjoyed seeing Bugs and the others being badass rather than goofy for a change lol
weirdest part is when I was a kid those goofy cartoons where never rly funny only cartoon i remember being funny when I was growing up was The Amazing World of Gumball
yo anyone remember swat cats
Same, I liked goofy here and there but my favorites were Teen Titans, ATLA, Cat Dog, Gargoyles, etc. Shows that we're either more serious in tone or touched on deeper topics and story.
i agreed , seeing the character being cool instead of goofy just hit the right spot , but PEOPLE have to come in and ruin the fun
Just like young Justice and teen Titans
Even parents today have that stance of "I dont understand it and i dont like it"
@@SaltpeterTaffy You know, Looney Tunes don't always have to be a constant comedian stage routine.
@@v.k.rt.m.6030 Hey, it's the kids who decided it, don't shoot the messenger.
Also as a kid i did notice the change from season 1 to season 2 and I preferred season 1 because it had more action and they used their powers more
Me too I remember not liking it that change as well
Yeah, it started out good, then got bad. The new theme song was atrocious.
Still, it's cool that it gained a pretty dedicated, but tiny, following. Less cool is that snarky jab against Tech/Rev shippers.
Rev: "Oh, Tech, I'd kiss you if you weren't a coyote and a man."
Tech: "Lucky for me, I'm both."
Same, brother.
@@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917 So they made a gay joke way before of its time! lol
I didn't know this show was so hated and I certainly don't understand why, it was one of the coolest and I really would have liked to see it continue.
Honestly, it had so little in common with Looney Tunes that it could have just changed the names and some details and stood on its own
I blame christian mom, atleast it didnt get the DnD satanic panic treatment.
Loonatics is just one of those underrated gems of early cartoon era. just like Xiaolin Showdown, Ozzy & Drix, ChalkZone, Cat Scratch etc
Agree. Damn I miss my childhood when I watch this show and Xiaolin Showdown.
Not really the early cartoon era since cartoons have been around for some time prior...
Agreed.... preach to the choir

Loonatics unleashed was a decent idea, and the backlash [it] received was unwarranted. You have your favorite characters given a "what if" treatment alongside their already established world-building.
Loads of comics always have some sort of "what if" to them. I don't understand why they don't get backlash for doing it a hundred times
Absolutely love Loonatics. The character designs are all s tier and I wish this show got more seasons
and what do i gain with it
Wish they wouldnt have given Buzz' and Lola's counterparts those "evil brows". They could have given them the original arrogant/relaxed look and it would make them resemble more but with the same confidence. Also why are Ace' ears so wide?

Yeah, me too.
This show is extremely underrated. People act like they tried to Batman beyond looney tunes but it's actually closer to teen titans
Toon Titans
This show was something that I forgot that ever aired in our country! #star
@@Emarella I think this tv show is now available in HBO Max =)

I was so hyped when this came out and I didn't understand why people were so mad. People get so protective of things they like as if a new version somehow negates the thing they already like, but I've always been like GIVE ME ALL THE VERSIONS
The show was just released at a time when there's a western stigma for teenagers or young adults to get into animation and that took a toll on the industry to push their boundaries and creativity beyond a child friendly demographic. Nowadays with the global rise of anime and adult cartoons shows like these have a better chance at success.
True but anime is rarely seen on tv now and kids teenagers or young adults watch these online while playing something.
@@valy225 Same can be said about any show nowadays tbh. Most popular shows are just better accessible through streaming services these days.
Come to think of it, a sonic Loonatics crossover would be kinda cool.
@@AnthonyZ. I should write that 😲

I vaguely recall liking Loonatics while it was on air. Would definitely watch it again if I can find it just to appreciate it now that I'm older.
Just wanted to say cool Battle Network pic. Battle Network fans are rare like this cartoon.
And Megadeth was on Duck Dodgers too
I love this show I wish they made more seasons as it had so much potential to be a great show. It’s a shame that it only had two seasons.
Me too
I love this show too is so great
Its so strange that this show didnt get as much love as it deserved.
I agree, like seriously 😔
the first season was okay but the second season was great.
Nowdays parent hardly give a mind to what their child watching oh the ironic
**edit. After a rewatch, I don't believe Tech is a vegetarian, it was a lie by Rev to ease things for his folks.
that really doesn't help with the idea of him and rev being a Thing
What? I thought the comment was insightful
Another two good ones are the episode were duck finds an old oprhane friend and over the course learns he was a villain or the Amazon episode with lexi gaing more confidence and powers and learning to express herself more. These was sonmuch potential in this show.

This show is a perfect example of people (especially parents) disliking something because it is different. This world we live in doesn't like different. Everything must be samy and recognizable, something we are used to and feel comfortable with. The moment someone experiments and tries something different, people reject it because they don't know how they are supposed to feel about it.
My mom liked it and had me watch it cause she always liked superheroes, in turn i really kiked this show!
Wait where can I binge watch this I love this show
I watched it when it came out, and utterly adored it.
100% mann these next gen of kids wont know brooo they just wont
I tell everyone the 90s and 2000s were peak tv. There are some early 2010s shows I like though.

Parents are the worst things for normal people.
@Existential Crisis Core on Infinite Earths it has easier explanation - "cartoons are not for adults, they are for kids" mentality that turns into "all cartoons are child-friendly by default and not worth checking". That was the general idea back then.

It was both too early and too late. This would have been a great show to put between Batman and X men.

But it really had potential, and that’s what I love and remember the most about this show. It had potential and I wish it had more of a chance to come back.

I LOVED this show as a kid I kinda wish they’d bring it back. I feel like a new audience will fall in love with them.
It’s funny how after they dissed on Loonatics so hard in the shows it is superior to.
When I was a kid I thought this show was cool. Love your content and that you always bring back nostalgic memories for me.
*Edit*
Also, I want to thank you for including the "Black Ink" teaser.
I remember not liking the concept, but liking it after I saw a few episodes. its kind of underrated in my opinion
YES! And I love the idea 😊 they’re the very distant Descendants to looney tunes
I discovered it on RUclips in 2014.
Honestly, I'd love to see this show come back, one day. I remember enjoying it when I was a pre-teen.
There's something about the teleportation ability being called "Quantum Quack" that just stuck with me, that's such a cool name and it fits so well.
I remember even writing a letter to cartoon network to please bring it back when I was 13, no response :,) my favorite character was
Tech e coyote, I love how they made him a the technology guy because of all the super contraptions and inventions Wile e. would build xD and I very distinctly remember my favorite episode, everyone meets Road runners parents... and they are extremely prejudice towards Tech because he's a coyote, such a good episode!!!
For all the reasons you said about the artists taking a new spin on Looney Tunes characters trying to be like Teen Titans or Batman, was exactly why I loved this series.
it’s really nice hearing rob paulsen getting the love he deserves, he’s a great actor with decades of experience and my favorite for sure
i vaguely remember the show's existence with them being the descendants of the original looney tunes and their character designs and concepts, don't remember the plot of a single episode
Lol
I didn't watch it at the time it released, just a few years ago, and I really enjoyed it, I remember liking the first season more, one of the things that changed in the second season was the dynamic between Tech and Rev, they were great friends with good communication, then in S2 they became like rivals who were trying to one up each other occasionally, I was so confused and disappointed at that change
They had this on tv?
@@valy225 yeah, years ago
Pure nostalgia, I wanna watch al the episodes from back tp back, both of the seasons, and really underapreciayed, they deserve a lor more of love
I remember feeling really weird about this show as a kid, but also kinda liked it. Definitely had some good ideas, definitely a cool, kinda awkward little moment in my life.
My stance on the show as well, should give it a second shot
I thought this show was the coolest when I was younger. I loved the designs and the intro, and just everything about it. It seemed so rare for me to catch it on teletoon:)
I remember watching this once as a kid, and Danger Duck was cornered by some enemy, his fireballs weren't working and he was panicking and I was just screaming at the screen "JUST TELEPORT! YOU CAN DO THAT!" Couldn't tell you what specific episode or anything it's just like a core memory. Like the show writers forgot one of his powers, it was weird.
I really love this series as a kid. Of course, parents always ruin the fun for kids.
They always do and always will do even when we grow older.
During Covid I literally watch all the episodes. It was so much fun and entertaining. It broke my heart when I found out there was no 3rd season😢.
So do I
@@EmmettDoyleDDR435Never gonna say gudbye.
Me too
I honestly loved this show. It was Looney Tunes with superpowers.
It's interesting watching this after seeing Huggbee's video on the series, seeing two radically different opinions.
Wish it didn't get cancelled :(
One of my favs as a kid. It was and still is a great concept
