Best ever Maryland based film = can't believe he forgot this.
I have lived in Maryland most of my life and didn't know all this. I subscribed so I could find out more about Maryland.
So many more movies have been filmed in Berlin and Ocean City.
Another movie that was partially filmed in Maryland was Coal Miner’s Daughter, so I’ve been told

The little church in Runaway Bride was filmed in Baltimore County, I grew up like 5 minutes away from it and my dad and stepmom actually got married in that church
Avalon, Diner, And Justice For All, Liberty Heights.....all should have been in the list
scenes for house of cards is filmed close to where i live in hdg, md
yeah, much of it was filmed up in Baltimore. I was actually an extra on one episode.
I was an extra in House of Cards, too, filmed in Havre de Grace. You can see me in S3E11 17:53.
Unfortunately for me, the MK Ultra I was born into meant all things horrific for anything involving the entertainment industry. Even a so-called simple extra gig was made to be part of a black ritual.
I was just thinking about the Blair witch movie today also there is a movie called Annapolis
*"Annapolis"* wasn't filmed in Maryland either. Because the US Naval Academy refused to allow it. That movie was filmed at a decommissioned Philadelphia navel ship yard in Pennsylvania...
Wedding crashes and borat are my two favorites.

Just wanted to add - scenes from ABSOLUTE POWER were filmed at Elk Neck State Park in Cecil County at the light house.
Nice video! I have done filming locations here in MD and DE! Especially for Runaway Bride! Tuck Everlasting was also filmed in Berlin, MD.
For Tuck Everlasting, I believe some scenes were shot in Hardford County at Kilgore Falls!

Although not filmed in MD (as far as I know), the Exorcist took place in cottage city MD (not Mt Rainier or Georgetown where the famous steps.
are).
The house where Ronald, the boy (a girl in the movie obviously) lived is still there.

There is actually two more movies filmed in Baltimore 1 + Anne Arundel County and the other in Baltimore City. The one in Anne Arundel County is The Replacements plus it was filmed at the stadium but I believe the one in and around the county was at Anne Arundel County High School where they practiced. The second one is absolute power and it was filmed off Blair Road
My husband and I were in the crowd scenes at the stadium.

Don’t forget about Accidental Tourist from the mid 80’s. It starred William Hurt and Geena Davis for which she received the supporting actress Oscar award. I lived in Maryland back then and was actually an extra in the vet office scene where they would meet for the first time. It was actually Geena’s birthday that day and her then boyfriend Jeff Goldblum came to lunch with a birthday cake. Even we extras got a piece. What a fun day!
No mention of Patriot Games, Her Alibi, Tuck Everlasting? I actually worked on Tuck Everlasting at Loch Raven Resevoir.

My husband was in a Johnny D movie Cry Baby. It used a lot of locals from Fells Point.
The Blair Witch project was filmed in Little Bennett State Park and part of Seneca Creek State Peak at the mill ruins off of Clopper Road in Germantown. The reason is the filmers were going to school at Montgomery College in Germantown and lived in the area. They even bought their 8mm cameras at the Best Buy off Shady Grove Rd. and returned them when they were done filming the movie. Little was filmed in Burketsville.
Another interesting bit of trivia about Clopper Road. In the early 70s it was very rural and heavily wooded. It has some large hills that make it look like a mountain road. A famous singer named John Denver was driving down this road and was inspired to write his famous song "Country Roads". Clopper Road spans Gaithersburg and Germantown. Most people think the song is about West Virginia. But a few of us Marylanders know better. 😉
Well, dang. You beat me to it. I used to play disc golf at Seneca all the time. I also knew about that John Denver nugget. Been here almost 40 years and it's definitely changed quite a bit. 👍

A few scenes in the film “Syriana” (2005), which starred George Clooney, Matt Damon, and the late William Hurt, was filmed in Baltimore County - including Whitemarsh Mall.
i worked Security in a couple of locations of the Runaway Bride movie in 1999, it was a good time.
The Borat one, the driving instructor in the movie was a driving instructor in Perry Hall, Maryland. he worked for Perry Hall Driving School, by the Friendly's on Rt 1

Albeit in Virginia, "The Pelican Brief" hangar/biz jet scenes were filmed at Signature Flight Support at Reagan National Airport when I worked there. Impressive how many times scenes need to be shot, aside from the outtakes.

Man born and raised in west Baltimore Maryland and I'm still here. It's a serious not a movie but THE WIRE definitely gets recognition. And ladder 49 was cool as well as die hard.
Also Homicide: Life on the Streets was filmed in Fells Point and Md.
If TV was included, hands down, The Wire would be on this list; most famous Baltimore TV show ever.
Left out Al Pacino in And Justice For All. It was filmed all over Baltimore. All the buildings look old except for the newly built World Trade Center which can be seen in the background and looks strangely out of place. Now all the buildings in the harbor area are contemporary glass face design.
My favorite is Serial Mom. The scene at Hammer Jacks was great. Only Baltimoreian appreciate that.

As a poster said above, right down the road a mile or so from Criswell Chevrolet, where part of borat was filmed, is Seneca creek state park where some scenes from Blair witch project were filmed.
Just what I was looking for
You left out Meg Ryan's Fells Point house in sleepless in Seattle. And many of John Waters movies were filmed here. I worked across the street from Chriswell Chevrolet. Imagine my shock when I suddenly saw it in that movie!
I used to live right down the road, off Quince orchard Blvd.
Worked at Roy Rogers (now McDonald's) and Friendly's (now a pharmacy) and the movie theater (now laser tag) in that nearby shopping center.
@gnlout7403 I used to eat lunch in that Roy Rogers all the time. I was sad when McDonald's took it over. Why do they need two in the same block! I used to go to the Cinema and Drafthouse sometimes too. The pizza was awful but it was fun!

Now I live down the road from the Germantown Roy's, which was a BK back in the day. Surprised it's still around but I still get fried chicken there once in a while

What about ‘Patriot Games ‘ and ‘ Gods and Generals ‘ ?
Can't believe you omitted "Diner" with Tim Daly and Steve Guttenberg. It has to be one of the best known films shot in MD. As a matter of fact, many of the scenes were filmed in my aunt and uncle's house in Roland Park.
We also had tv series filmed here in Maryland The Wire , Veep, House of Cards , The west wing ,Past life , just to name a few .
Another big movie you forgot to mention: Enemy Of The State staring Will Smith
What the movie Belovet with Oprah. It was filmed in Montgomery county I was told.

Several John Waters films were left out. I'm sure other pre-1997 films were omitted too.
I knew an author .. back in 1988 while I was building his house on The Chesapeake Bay .. Tom Clancy !! .. I think parts of The Patriot Games was shot in Maryland ... In fact I know they were . My wife's cousin is whose yard was used in Berlin MD for some scene .. and lastly .. My friend right off of Harford Rd and Northern Parkway in Balto was used for a John Waters movie " Dirty Shame " ..

I returned to MD to tighten my skills and went south again in 91 .. 95 worked for Donald Gardner Architects . and later for a company " Gabriel Builders " in SC .. which built homes for a CEO of Goldman Sachs that helped ruin the economy in 2009 . Billionaires .. It's been fun VPs for Exxon Mobil . ... Now I an content remodeling bathrooms on double wides .. Tom's house was a surprise .. I built a house for his cousin and thus the recommendation . .. I wasn't the contractor .. I was the Carpenter .. Came to Prince Frederick . and was in awe on the site .. .. Handed the plans and was grateful " facetiously " that I had no time to study them .. Here's the crew , here 'e the plan and here's the wood .. LOOOL .. I marveled .. Why are some guys coming in with stacks of books to get signed ?? Oh he's got a movie in production ?? "Hunt for Red October " .. I knew him simply as Tom .. Till later

I was about to say the same. I'm in Middletown, 10 minutes from Burkittsville. When I moved here and my wife told me her town was so close to Burkittsville, I was excited as a kid at Christmas!
There are also movies and TV shows set here, even if they are filmed somewhere else. Many X-files episodes are set here, but it was filmed in Canada and California.
What about the one in Ann Bancroft was in?

"Tucker Everlasting" was filmed in Baltimore, Bel Air and Berlin.

Most of the film was actually filmed in Glen Arm including the church scene. Several of the scenes were filmed at Bordie Vineyard.
The movie Diner was filmed in Baltimore. I remember as a kid watching all of the movie cameras film a car driving down Belair Road near Erdman Ave in NorthEast Baltimore where I grew up. Many scenes shot in Baltimore row houses. It was a good movie too with Mickey Rourke, Paul Resneir, Kevin Bacon.
I remember when runaway bride was made couldn’t even go in town for months my mother works for the police department and the cops had to pick her up if she worked days

Another movie filmed in Md wwas the Bedroom Window filmed in the city and out lieing towns. We allso had two t.v hit Homicide Life on the streets and The Wire there was allso quite a few movies filmed in Union Square park in one it was used as a scene and made to look like an early New York Park starring Aidan Quinn

A lot of movies and serious what's going on here
Coming from a future filmmaker (me), as a realtor (you), I feel like you should have a top 10 movies that TAKE PLACE in Maryland AND are filmed in Maryland. I think the only movie on this list that takes place in a non-fictional Maryland place is Ladder 49 (although filmed in Annapolis). There is also The Sum Of All Fears (not sure if it was filmed in Baltimore though, but I wouldn't put it past Tom Clancy, one of the most famous Baltimore authors) and Annapolis (pretty sure filmed there). If the list of that is too short, one could include TV, for I know Homicide: Life On The Street and The Wire were filmed and take place in Baltimore.
I say "as a realtor" because, albeit a fictional story, those movies advertise the places in a locale sense. You can't imagine, being close enough to Berlin to know this, how much Berlin STILL advertises Runaway Bride; there is a map somewhere in town showing the real-life places and the fictional names in downtown.
Also, who's "top 10" is this? Was it your top 10 favorites? I'm just curious about the ordering of the list because it's definitely not top 10 awarding or grossing if Blair Witch Project is #1 (although not a terrible film). I do love this list and now am very interested in re-watching some of these to pay attention to this! :-)
