CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jack (Ben Affleck) calls DCI William Cabot (Morgan Freeman) to alert him that a bomb has been planted in Baltimore.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The successful franchise of Paramount motion pictures based on novelist Tom Clancy's techno-thrillers featuring heroic CIA intelligence analyst Jack Ryan stages a much-publicized "do-over" with this action-adventure that recasts the character of Ryan as a rookie to the complex game of geopolitical warfare. Ben Affleck takes the reins from Harrison Ford as Ryan, a greenhorn CIA historian and analyst who finds himself thrust front and center into the spy community's spotlight when Nemerov (Ciaran Hinds), a Russian politician on whom Ryan is an expert, suddenly becomes the leader of the former Soviet Union upon the current president's unexpected demise. Attached to the director of the CIA, Cabot (Morgan Freeman), Ryan insists -- contrary to the opinions of many high-ranking White House officials -- that Nemerov is not a warmonger. Meanwhile, a cadre of neo-fascists, led by Dressler (Alan Bates), plots the detonation at the Super Bowl in Baltimore, MD, of a nuclear device recovered from a long-ago Israeli fighter jet crash, a terrorist incident they intend to spark a war between the super powers, leaving them to conquer the world in the conflict's post-apocalyptic vacuum. The Sum of All Fears co-stars James Cromwell, Bridget Moynahan, and Liev Schreiber as covert operative John Clark, a character central to another series of Clancy's best-selling tomes.

"I'm the President of the United States. If you see me running, try to keep up."
Anyone else said it in the Terminator’s voice? 😂
I Knew an EOD tech who had a similar shirt. "If you see me running.....Catch up."
@@Dante20321 just as funny in trumps voice.
@@carlosrivas1629 Definitely funny, as I can't picture him running at all.
I see what you did there 😉
To be fair, that horrified reaction is fairly typical when someone mentions Baltimore.
underrated coment...
I bet you stay where you are from,I bet I could everything there that's in baltimore too.
@@kwolf43 Your comment is so bad I thought I was having a stroke.
Savage.
@@kwolf43 After trying to understand the drivel you call a comment, I can only assume that you were born and raised in Baltimore.
Note to self: When the President and Secret Service haul ass out of a public place; do not sit and wonder why.
That's exactly what I thought! LOL
If this had actually happened, I'm pretty sure all hell would have broken loose in that stadium with people screaming and climbing over each other to get either out of the building or at least down to the field and out of the stands.
everyone not able to put fast ground was dead.. even if you ran out of the stadium your only chance would be getting fast to a car and driving away fast.. the president had its motorcade allready ready for fast evacuation and police ready to clear the way.. good luck doing that on your own..
+ sparrowJLT -- But what if he was being evacuated due to a conventional bomb, or a report of a sniper? Since you don't know, if you see him bugging out you should do the same. It's common sense.
i didnt said they shouldnt.. only that in this particular scenario they would be dead anyway
This movie hit theaters several months after the events of 9/11. I remember sitting in the theater watching this movie and during this scene the whole theater sat silent and shaken. I was stunned as the audience as my heart was racing. The tension of this scene felt very real.
This scene gave me chills, my god! Imagine if you are the one person, whose life has to be saved at any costs - no matter what's up with the other people, because they're already lost...
Really? I think it's scarier to imagine just being some blip on the map who gets vaporized in a mass grave.
@@silentype3008 ye but they don't know its coming, imagine being the 1 guy who knows...
@@tjadams1089 What always struck me about the scene is the unknowing of everyone he's looking at. They're all enjoying the game still. That could be anyone of us on any given day under the right circumstances.
@@silentype3008 right
@@silentype3008 99 percent of people die on days at times they never expected
There was a similar movie about a guy who was afraid of math: The Fear of All Sums.
@Troy Hendrickson There was a second sequel planned: Fear of All Sums - The Final Calculus
Ahh hah.
I have always called this movie exactly that. Donno why, except that it makes me smile.
So basically Ben Affleck trying to remember the quadratic equation?
Moral of this clip:
When president is getting the f*** out of there, then you should do the same.
You could think that he just rushed to the toilet.... :))
He should have had a print on his jacket "If you see me running, try to catch up!"
Theboggieman5 No no you should stay c: Lol jk im a bad person :c
I totally agree, why the hell didn't they tell all those other people to run and get out? they might have at least saved a few lives
@@DaveFisher-cq2dr Mass panic would have ensued. The POTUS is always priority over anyone.
This has to be one of the best, 'oh shit!' moments ever put to film. The look on Cabot's face, the music, editing showing the spectators. Cabot is like, Oh my God, he freezes in momentary terror realizing he's sitting on top of a ticking Nuke and all these 50,000 people are gonna die.
He didn't know he was sitting on it just that it was in Baltimore. He'd have freaked more if he knew it was ground 0 I believe
He realized once he heard "Baltimore" that it must be that stadium, for the president would be the priority target, i.e. decapitation strike to take out the sole person who can authorize use of the nation's nuclear arsenal. The president's travel schedule would have been available in advance, this one location would allow the best chance for assassination given the POTUS is stationary for a substantial period of time, an hour plus halftime.@@gorsching
The part where they are showing all the people after "Baltimore", knowing they are all dead...it brings me to tears, knowing there is nothing they can do to save them.
they are all actors...they lived
It’s fiction
@@tbewin1z143 Just shut up lol. Seriously, shut up. You know damn well what his overall point was. Just stick to reading books and let us enjoy these masterpiece movies in peace. No one asked for your petty opinion.
I was in the crowd when they filmed this. It took two days to do it. There was exactly one end zone. The word "Super Bowl" doesn't appear anywhere. The teams are the CFL teams Montreal Allouettes (in white/silver) and Toronto Argonauts (in black/green). They used the light board to give bilingual stage directions, with "What's Going On?/Que Se Passe-T-Il?" when they run the President out the door.
***** Because the bomb was on the other side of the stadium, and I was in the bathroom. :D
So...how did you get the job as a random extra in a crowd in a major Hollywood production? Do you find these jobs on Craigslist or something???
CooManTunes Heard about it online and drove straight up to Montreal to be part of it.
blackjac5000
How did be 'a part of it' once you got to Montreal?
CooManTunes I pretty much walked through the front door, since it was a largely volunteer project where everybody was paid in T-shirts and free lunches.
There would have been mass panic immediately if the President hauled ass out of there like that.
Agreed, it’s not a realistic reaction.
The President of the United States and the Secret Service runs like hell getting out of there, get your ass out of there too. Don't just stand there, Oh look! The President is running! Let's stand and watch! " Run, damn it! Run!
Right? If I'm at a game and saw that. I'm out
Morgan is amazing.
No one from Hellyweirdos is amazing! I used to think the same thing until we found out what they do, what they believe & how they sway the public into thinking their agenda! If they are still famous and in movies they are "one of them" sad!
@@krissiet4718I grew up in a time shortly after WW2 and the stars were so into the war effort back then.
@@savannah505Every! We are all going to find out they “the stars” do what they are told at all times. Which agendas to push & which ones to speak against. It’s crazy where our world is today. 😢
Ngl, if I was at that game and saw the President being evacuated I would grab my family and friends to follow suit. I would be making my way out and as far away as possible.
That expression of Abot (Morgan Freeman) actually represents sum of all Fears..fear for President, fear for people, fear of death for himself..
For anyone who couldn't make out what Ben Affleck said, he yelled "Voldemort."
God dammit, it actually sounded like Voldemort.
Wrong. He said Boromir. Sean Bean dies again.
Oh, I thought he said "Hot in Herre". I bet it did get that way moments later.
One of Jerry Goldsmith’s last great scores. It's got so many well done leitmotifs.
RIP legend.
Makes me wonder what films he would've scored today if he didn't pass away.
@@bryanferratt6598 I do too! He would have had to adapt to the trends of how everything sounds like a temp score these days
@@chrisparkesI don't think so. I think he would've still maintain his style like John Williams still does.
This movie is underrated, is a great movie for sure.
All movies are underated there fake movies
A+ acting by Morgan Freeman, so real!
This scene taught me one thing, if I'm in a place the president is or, any other person of such protection, and they leave. So do I.
Moral of the story, if you ever see a head of state making a hasty exit from a public venue, you should probably do the same. Or at least try to.
The irony of this scene: the nuclear bomb went off in Baltimore, but nobody could tell the difference because it was Baltimore.
Reminds me of an old joke "A giant tornado swept through the middle of Alabama yesterday. It made 200 million dollars worth of improvements"
Not quite.
I give this movie a solid 7/10, but this scene gets 10/10 all day every day.
This is actually an awesome spy thriller, one of my favourites. I only have The Hunt For Red October ahead of it in terms of the Jack Ryan movies.
I love how the football game went from a nighttime game to daylight when the nuke goes off!
It's an indoor stadium. It was daylight when the President rocked up and the left
Thats a heavy scene. He is looking at all those people in the stadium and realizing they are all dead.
The abject terror of suddenly knowing beyond all doubt that every single person in that arena is doomed, and there is nothing that anyone can do to save them.
I knew Tom Clancy .. I built his house in 88 on The Chesapeake Bay . Had no idea who he was as workers would bring in stacks of books to be autographed . But got to know him .. I sure would like to know his take on what's going on today . But he's gone . Everything today is like a Clancy novel
@@IVORY123100 yo that’s insane dude.
The way on how they get the president out at full speed, not being even a little discrete is terrifying is like the secret service will never do something like that unless it's really necessary. At that point it was everyone for themselves.
except, yes they would. they'd absolutly move the president like that in the event they thought a bomb was about to go off and threaten the president.
@@Adamsdaboy It's one of the most realistic parts of the movie. Secret Service don't stop to ask questions. Someone gives the word to "go" and they carry out the preplanned exit drill at full speed, no mucking around.
This exit plan probably should have happened with President Bush (when he was reading the book at the school in Florida) was notified of the second airliner hitting the twin towers in New York (since it should have been obvious at that point it was a terror attack). This is because his presence likely would make the school a high value target for terrorists. Plus, his plan to read it there may have been public knowledge.
@@Adamsdaboy like i said, unless is necessary.
As a Browns fan, I feel Baltimore football had it coming...
I mean it says Baltimore... but this was clearly filmed in Olympic stadium, Montreal. I guess French Canadians had it coming too 😉
I remember the math thriller, "The Fear of All Sums".
If I ever see the president hauling 455 like that, I am going to jump the fence as if some zombies were chasing me.
When the president starts running, You better start too
It gives me chills watching this as a kid jumping up and down telling them to "Get out now!". Great movie. They don't make em like they use to.
All those cheerleaders :(
sadly all those shaking asses turned into radioactive dust
Good timing to put this back in the feed, lol 😂😂😂
When Morgan freeman stands and then it shows all the people in the stadium is really shocking.
At 1:10 the ultimate "oh shit" moment.
Music by the MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE Jerry Goldsmith R.I.P
Hans Zimmer has caught up and past Mr. Goldsmith, not an easy feat by any means. Having said that, 2nd place to Hans Zimmer is pretty darn good.
The absolute dark irony that the nuke is in a cigarette vending machine.
I love the soundtrack here.
i especially like that part from this scene, one of the best moments in movie history. in my opinion.
Jerry Goldsmith fantastic!
Hey Mom I'm on TV. BOOOOOOM.
chills. every time.
for me the best of all ryan movies
So glad they got the cheerleaders' booty shot in there; it's really important symbolically and psychologically to the entire movie. It says a lot about the filmmaker's quality.
also thev fact they changed who the bad guys were
Manly because you hear Ben Affleck say, "Baltimore!" and when Morgan Freeman stands up you see the sign behind him reading "BALTIMORE" in big letters. I actually didn't notice it the first time I saw this movie.
One of the best shots of all time .Shock and chilling evacuation of the president .My fav movie of all time
If you see the president running with panicked secret service all around him.... you'd better run, too, lol....
Yeah, but all those people aren't going to leave the stadium in under a min lol.
I just watched it a couple of weeks ago didn't see the whole movie before. This scene is so terrifying especially when you see on his face that he knows everyone there is gone.
Gripping scene. Sad as well. All those people just wanting to have a good time, having no idea before the day was out they'd be dead...vaporized.
I remember this came out a few months after 9/11. I watched it in theaters when I was 11 with my dad when I was still processing the terrorist attack that just happened.
I’ve always wondered if there was a scene cut because of 9/11. Like a scene of the actual explosion.
@@ryancoulter4797 They didnt use the national anthem. They used a bootleg version.
I’m not saying I would have made it but had I seen the President bolt out of the stadium I’m leaving too…..
If you see the President being rushed out like that it’s already too late...
All those cheerleaders....
DAmn, such a waste
The music that starts playing just hypes me up
Jerry Goldsmith music is just outstanding
when you see the prez or the like get rushed out of an event, RUN!
This is a great movie.
There just wasn't enough time. Anyone who has been to a Stadium game would know sometimes where you park is on the other side of where you sit. President had VIP access in and out of the stadium. Even if anyone would have started running to their vehicle they would have been blown up by the time they got to the pretzel and beer stand.
It makes you think about disaster scenarios and evacuation plans.
If you try to evacuate everyone at the same time, it will go slowly and very likely no one would make it. So do you actively sacrifice many to save few?
Sorry but if I happen to see the President being rushed out of a sports venue by Secret Service, I'm not going to just watch them go, I'm snatching my family and making a dash for the exit too. I learned a long time ago, if certain people start running...YOU START RUNNING!!!
I used to think this was the scariest scene ever made. Now, I'm praying this happens today in New York City and in California
You dope.
Great scene! One of my favs
That look on his face...damn.
I forgot how powerful this film is, tell now. Scary powerful huh ? Thanks you you guys 🙏~
Running away like a true hero.
Bet he was a democrat
How timely a recommended video, in light of real world events.
If ever a toilet needed flushing...it's Baltimore!!!
You know your in trouble when they rush the pres out of the stadium like that!
There were kids in the stadium. I know it is just a movie but, damn...
No.....When Morgan Freeman stands up dramatically, starts looking around like something is wrong, and slowly lowers his hands....THAT'S WHEN YOU PANIC!!!
If you wait until he evacuates the president, then it's all over for you.
@Troy Hendrickson thats when you panic. When Morgan Freeman stands up looking around panicking. I am gone.
Chuck Norris would just eat this nuke with his cornflakes, then casually pour a fresh coffee to help kick-start his day.

''I am the President. If you see me running try to catch up!''
Bloody love this scene!

It depends on where you live. Some states and municipalities ban them, some don't. They probably put them in elementary schools in the tobacco-growing states. ;-)
If I remember correctly, one of the members of the president's cabinet was the owner of one of the teams in the superbowl, I think it was Cabot, but I'm not so sure, dont remember that well (gottta read the book again), one of the teams was the Minnesota Vikings which had this wide receiver with a lot of yards in the season. He was the vedette of the team and they were expected to win the superbowl with him that year. Before the bomb exploded, the kid already had like a 100 yards and scored two touchdowns. Vikings were wining like 14 - 3 or something.
In the book the president was not present and instead the vice president attended the game. That saved him from the bomb. But almost his entire cabinet died in the blast.
Great movie
