THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I had to replace one of these plastic windows in the screen room and I was at a loss on what to do. I did a search and found your 3 videos - They were a God-sent! I have 5 more to do. My only 2 problems..I didn't get enough spline and I am lacking in physical strength but by sure will power the first window looks great. (Hope it stays that way) Thank you again for your videos, ~karen in FL.
I’ve done this before. I’ve found it challenging to keep the plastic tight and of course those puckers. I’ll try your method of cutting those 45 degree angles in a puckered corner. I also do these with a regular screen on them on the front. You have to lay the new screen material down first. Might be quite a bit harder but I like the plastic protected this way from cuts and impacts.
My HOA doesn't allow clear plastic on the lanai (because of how it looks, I guess). Can you imagine installing screen fabric over the Glassine so that the screen "hides" the Glassine? Not sure that it will all fit into the spline track.
Did you try it? I was wondering the same, and it would also protect the glassine from the sun so it would last longer. However, wouldn't it be almost impossible to put in the spline with the added thickness?
Glassine is NOT the name for this product. I cannot find it under Glassine. That is a craft paper. This is clear vinyl sheet roll. I wish you would have put down the product name. So frustrating. Also, my project involves switching from mesh screen to plastic for winter and back again to mesh for summer. I am modifying a screen door so I can winterize it, and add a doggie door in the bottom, no more opening doors for the pooch. I need to make new screens with this vinyl and swap them out winter and summer or... use two doors and swap those out instead. Anyone???
Thank you! This cost me $30 for one window probably more now and I have 36 windows to replace THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL!!!
