This was actually quite common back in the day. Straight-to-video movies only had the cover art to advertise with, and they did everything they could to be the movie that stood out on the Blockbuster shelf. Some of those old low-budget exploitation movie video boxes are absolute works of art, as well as being pretty damn close to false advertising lol.

Imagine being given the chance to be a actor or background character for one of these movies thinking you're going to be a part of a big movie but ending up in one of these.

The sequence with The Scarab getting beaten up and the one with Captain Battle use the same punch sound. And nothing makes a scene more cool than hearing the same "k-splooch" over and over and over
Strangely, that isnt thw sound from the movie..looks like it was changed for this youtube video. The original scene has a spell being recited that weakens the Scarab. Sounds of the villains laughing are also heard. Not sure why it was changed for this video other than try to make the movie looks worse

Dude! Mac and Me was the first ever movie I got to see at a cinema. It was also the first time I got to have pizza and coke. It was a pivotal moment in my childhood.

Nar,,,I’m with you on that one. As an innocent kid that film was great even to point I remember it before any prompt. I remember with films like ET,,Robo Cop,,,And the land that time forgot. Just films that was so cool as a kid with such an impact we remember them with just fond memories.
Yet saying that I did put in for my kids not long back and well yes I can see the cringe now. Which I must say ruined the memories a little.

Strangely..the sounds in this video are not the actual sounds from the movie. I presume the makers of the video changed it to make the movie seem worse.
I know the whole point of these movies is to trick grandmas into buying the wrong movie (which there is a special place in hell for), but I thought filming, editing, hiring actors, and everything else that goes into a movie, is expensive as shit, so how does one even find the cash to make a movie they intentionally want to be shit?

Easier than you think. There are tons of bad, failed and wannabe actors looking for any role they can get their hands on and will more often than not work for dirt cheap, then add in the fact that the average person can do general film editing and CGI in small amounts on their own and fairly inexpensive nowadays so making a movie like these isn't that hard and will cost as little as you think they would.
Since most of the directors/producers think they have some spectacular vision or a legit cash grab and are in charge of everything as long as everyone gets paid none of the other crew or cast really care. The crew gets paid and the bad cast gets roles they think will lead to their break out role to becoming a bigger actor

Asylum is known for their rip-offs. They make money by releasing their films close to the actual films releases and count on people buying them. Bulk was a hilariously bad version made entirely of computer genaterated imaging

Mac and Me is a classic from my childhood and I like it even more than E.T. (ET was scary to watch as a kid, while MAC and ME was lighthearted and fun! I also didn't mind the product placement as E.T. had its own less blatant product placement and it made the world of MAC and ME feel like ours yet somewhat cartoonish)! The alien family are also basically like fish out of water and find themselves on a strange unfamiliar planet and the kid's death is accidental! Also the ending was kinda wholesome if a bit cheesy!

The craziest thing about Birdemic is that the first bird attack doesn't happen until like 45 minutes into a 90 film. The first half of the movie is played as a terrible romantic comedy.
It's true though...Sometimes I used to watch you, and I got Bright Side confused because it was SO similar.
