"Watching And Waiting" is a fitting and beautiful follow-up song to "Nights". The lyrics intricately weave a tapestry of hope. For many, the watching and waiting continue to this day, with the positive expectation that the friend to understand us, arrives in the end.
Supposedly, this was going to be the follow up single to Nights.

The San Juan Capistrano solo show has some of the best live versions of The Moody Blues and Justin Hayward solo songs, what a show, its Justin Hayward at his best performing live solo...I love this version of Watching and Waiting, Justin, its beautiful, soft and flowing, Loved seeing you perform live last year, I was blown away by the whole experience. 🎶🎵🎶💗

This song has always meant so much to me. Saw the Moody Blues first perform at Madison Square Garden NYC in 1973. And they never left me. Justin and I are the same (ageless) age and his lyrics torched my soul. Still do.

@@brendasmith1740 Yes, I’ve seen him many times with the Moodies, and my sister and I even flew to England (from Houston) in September 2019 to see him in Birmingham and Swindon. Then I most recently saw him in June of this year, in Houston. I wish I could fly back to England next month to catch a couple of shows there again!

His voice was deeper on the 1969 lp version..
Maybe because he was high as a kite haha. Alternatively it could just be an artistic choice
It seems his voice has gotten higher the older he gets for some reason..
He stopped smoking in recent years which probable made a difference in the quality of his voice. I don't think better or worse, just a bit different and definitely healthier to not smoke if one can manage to quit.
