    Great video Dom thanks! Love your enthusiasm and mad skills. Just got this plugin and it works great for my live show. One question -- have you found a way to sustain vocals? I want to sing a note, have it HOLD the harmonies.. then I might sing something else over top. Almost like a sustain pedal for the background harmonies. Tried doing this with two different Ableton devices with no luck. First one Ableton's "Looper" device but the transients were too glitchy. Second one I tried was assigning a foot trigger to Ableton's Reverb Device "Freeze" button with better results. But still not great. Do you know of another way to do this? Seems to me the plug-in could easily be modified to do this. Let me know if you have any suggestions. For stage use.

How come my mindo control does not show my keyboard on the screen like it did in your video, in the video you said watch as I plud in the connection and cubase instally knows then boom your keyboard is now showing inside the daw with keys and all. Mine just says connected and shows 4 big ass black circles [ i guess these can be assigned to control expressions from keyboard or w/e, but How come mine doesnt show a keyboard in the midi control tab at the bottom where you can click on console in Cuabse. Please for the love of god can you help me figure out why I get a box with 4 circles which look like a black dial.

:) N.B. Weird hack for this plug-in and others like it:
    If you get a big harmony that is getting overloaded with some of its frequencies, you can use a stem separation action on the vocal harmony track. You will get some extra stuff under the other or the guitar category, depending on how the stem separator is set up.
    Now you can decide if those extra frequencies need to be omitted completely or if you want to EQ them or mess with them to have them blend better.
    As somebody who records in a noisy spot, it helps to reduce the amount of low-level pickups that are getting expanded with the harmonies.
    (I do what I can to eliminate them from the get-go of course, but you know.)

    • @Metalpazallteway
      @Metalpazallteway Год назад

      @@RomainRaynalComposer I feel he had to have used a harmonizer because even if you sing something close to the original one can notice differences in the voices. The octave jumps he sings are way to perfect and in sync for a male to be in sync. I'm not saying Freddy couldn't do it but if you listen to the vocals dry they're much too in sync and his vocal lines are much too even when sung separately in production you could tell one from another if they were independent. But in his songs that is not the case. He must've designed or used one of the first vocoders that weren't open to the public at the time.

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas  Год назад +9

      Thank you! Freddie and Queen in general we’re masters at creating vocal harmonies. It was their trademark. Freddie was singing the harmonies so close to perfection that his voice would phase with each other. I am not going to call this “talent” because it undermines someone’s hard work. These people were perfectionists and while back then Queen were criticised by some for their extravagant use of studio techniques (compared to other, “raw” bands), they were real masters. No, they didn’t use any harmoniser (not until albums like The Works) it was all real recordings painstakingly stacked on top of each other. If you can get a hold of Bohemian Rhapsody’s multitrack you will be able to tell!

    • @Metalpazallteway
      @Metalpazallteway Год назад

      @@DomSigalas Thank you Dom so much for this intro master rendition and for your wonderful expertise feedback. My take on Queen pieces, aside from their perfectionist approaches, was the fact that I've always felt that having unified warmth and attack's sustains is almost unobtainable because one can tell of such anomalies during the analysis of the track. And yes the best way to approach it is to actually see all multi tracks in their independent nature to perform the complete dissection and see the piece for it's internal beauty. Thank you so much once again

    Think it’s a very interesting plug-in, since TC has practically ended their “Pro” version of Helicon voice live boxes in favor of some cheap guitar stomp boxes. As I see it practically does on the fly, what Digitech startet 30 years ago with the Vocalist, just in pure software. I still kinda want it “in a box” so I could easier drag it along on stage. Think it’s a big shame TC dont make the Helicon anymore.

      Yes. Too bad for TC helicon only targeting musicians. I have worked with harmonizers since the Digitech VHM5 circa 1991. The VHM5 was designed to create auto harmonies and the MIDI note-to-harmony feature was an afterthought of ivl.
      There have been many ' MIDI home karaoke' attempts, failed because the library with vocal tracks was limited and sometimes the harmonies were only interesting.
      Tune 1000 provided great MIDI karaoke with vocal backing accurate to the artist, but they missed some features.
      I purchased the entire 1500 song library and modified to be friendly to any gender, age or skill.
      I can do that with any MIDI backing track and planned on marketing a home karaoke to the masses, but the hardware is becoming extinct. The Roland VT4 is close, but it is not Helicon. I have hopes for this software.

    Hi Dom, Mogens from Denmark here.
    I have learned many great things from your videos, but i have a request:
    WHEN you make videos can you PLEASE show all the nobs or how to do in Cubase.
    Its so fast and i look at the video soo many times
    I have spend so many hours to find out how!!
    Maybe im stupid or slow...sorry...just a walkthrough..for us slow people.
    Maybe refer to another video for sloooow people..haha
    But i really love these videoes
    thx so much for your good humor too

      Hi Mogens ! in this video about after 9min I show exactly how it's done! I know exactly what you mean but people's attention span on RUclips is minimal and when I've shown something before I tend to do it fast the next times :) Hope this video helps! ruclips.net/video/U0QEKGIDDVE/видео.html

    You can do this with iZotope Nectar 3 also. For some reason they hid it very well. But it works great, the pitch shifting is amazing.

      @@DomSigalas yes it does midi. You can add Nectar 3 as an instrument and the side chain it. You can then play the harmonies on your keyboard.

      @@DomSigalas I compared Nectar 3 to Waves Harmony (with each I used my keyboard to record a monophonic MIDI harmony line into Cubase while the lead vox was playing). I found that Nectar 3 couldn't generate vocal harmonies syllable by syllable as I recorded - it would make glitchy sounds. I'm not talking fast rap, just normal song singing. The Waves Harmony *was able to keep up. So I bought it!

    Spent ages trying to get it sounding decent and just can't. Harmonies are all over the place, midi in doesn't work, tried with the explanation on this video and it doesn't work. I have a TC Helion Vocal Harmony pedal for live gigs and that works perfectly, acoustic or electric guitar in and it produces vocal harmonies from my voice based on whats platyed in from the guitar. Does anyone know if there is a plug in that does the exact same thing as my pedal?

      Hmmm, yeah I meant do it *well* :) and preferably with VST3 and MacOS support. Nothing against MIDI Choir but this cannot be compared with what I’m showing here :) This is why I stuck with my hardware Voicelive 2 for so long. Now it’s on sale :)

      @@DomSigalas Thank you for answering :) I'm not sure I can agree fully, because the sound quality of your demo wasn't any better than what I got from MIDI Choir. But I don't shy away from saying that there are way more comfort functions in waves harmony. And it has the better GUI. But I really only meant to joke about "finally", I wasn't very serious :)

    Nice video! for some reason you don't really sound that good through the SM7B... is it that it's a little bit more muddy than other mics? I feel like some EQing has been done and it makes the sound worse... I don't know

    • @NoQualmsTheArtist
      @NoQualmsTheArtist Год назад +1

      SM7B is a muddy boomy mic by default. I think everybody uses it to look cool. If you have a high pitched voice like Michael Jackson then it is great to add body, but otherwise it's total shite.
