It's about time they came out with one like this. Think it will do very well. Especially for those of us that like to do FPV on RC cars. You can go so far, it makes driving a RC truck a whole different ballgame.
Mind blowing , yet action feel during this video . I’d been saying you made us all enjoy the hobby even more & more .. thanks for standing by us buddy .. keep on such impressive videos 👏🏻👏🏻
Very impressive indeed, Cap'n - and as always, a terrific, thorough, and entertaining review of this awesome new remote. Thanks for continuing to be the best darn drone/RC channel out there!
Yes Captain !!! that is very very impressive!!!; what a journey!!; was waiting for the connection to glitch out and perhaps a recovery!; however no such issue! ; well done and many thanks for posting !!!
Just a heads up there’s a module bay so if you want to get the most out of it get the 4in1 with an elrs module so it can bind to all your existing stuff and you gab get elrs recivers if you need something with long range
Impressive indeed!!! I always think it would be cool to have a drone tracking an rc vehicle like this - I think some spectacular clips could be captured that way.
Unfortunately beginner style DJI GPS drones can’t track RC vehicles, unless the RC vehicle drives in a straight line. Only FPV drones can track RC cars and RC planes
That potensic from a few videos ago seemed like it might do it - followed the landing pad ok. If the Skydio beacon thing was on the RC truck I figured it would track that. Just testing these might be fun!@@CAPTAINDRONE798
@@MTBPerspectiveif you drive an RC car at walking speed the a beginner GPS drone can follow. But walking speed makes for boring video. Once you drive fast, all GPS drones (even from DJI) can’t track.
I built one my own surface transmitter from a Radiomaster Zorro and 3D prints from Thingiverse a year ago and I love it. Especially with the new RadioMaster RX versions. Hopefully next they will make a RX with a gyro for steering compensation. I also hope they will make a “Max” edition of the MT12
I was hoping, eventually, Radiomaster would MAKE a surface tx! I swapped to my tx16s (from the pile of 💩 ix20se) 2 months ago. Amazing a $400.00 tx (I got the AG01 version, 4 in 1), can blow away a $2000.00+ tx!
Very cool this will likely be my arc car and boat vid. So how do you update and customize this radio? Also can it bind and switch between multiple receivers? And last but not least. What info can you see on the screen? I'm sure you will cover much of this in an upcoming video!
You update the radio via firmware update (plug a usb c cable into it), or do it via wifi. You can connect to tons of receivers so you could have an entire fleet of rc cars and only this radio.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Just awesome! I have tried other brands but it looks like this one will be a winner for me . I really hate having 200 radios and the few I have tried do not seem to be the best option. I already know a little about Edge TX or at least I'm learning .. I want to learn one system and use it for everything, Drones, Planes, Cars and Boats.. I believe Radiomaste just made that possible.. Thanks again for a great video!!
Since limiting factor is video feed, maybe mounting a cell phone on truck & using video call over cellular be a way to get around the problem of fpv camera range, other than a bit of probable lag from cell phones
Buddy i just bought the mt12 4in1 looks epic and range will be good for my speed run car now i do the have the dumbo rc with the extender on it and its brilliant
Hi Steve....That was a awesome video. I was also impressed with the video stabilization of the action 4. Could really see the truck bounce a lot but steady video........👍
Would be interested in showing us how you cabled up the Runcam/Link to your truck? I saw how you had the Runcam powered by lipo on your RC plan as well. I see that this one sits on top of the gopro. How is it powered?
@@RoddPleasI had a 2s battery with a JST connector so due to that I soldered a positive & negative wire of a female jst connector to the RunCam Wasp. Now I have to say this is all kindergarten grade easy and I think you are thinking about it way to much and making it crazy complicated for yourself. Get yourself a digital camera unit, either DJi, RunCam or CADDX, and have a look at the board… you’ll see a spot for power, positive & negative. Just check the min/max voltage requirements so that you don’t hook up too much voltage. Also don’t use a DJI O3 Air unit because it is designed to stay in low power mode. Give it a try and you’ll have no issue.
As always Steve that was an excellent review!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊. Yes that receiver is awesome! People who buy that version will be ecstatic! !!!. Any stickers available yet? Thanks
I'm surprised it did not overheat. I saw someone put an O3 Air Unit on a RC truck but they made a custom fan to put on the unit. I wonder if the O3 would have had a better picture and signal in this test?
@@StealthFlightFPVThe RunCam Link and old Vista units rarely overheat. 03 units are better and do get hot if placed in an enclosed space, so out in the open, no overheating. However, for the non-experience DJI O3 people, you can’t use the unit at max range if you place it on a car because the 03 does not power to full output unless you attach a method to make it think it is on a drone & motors are armed.
As for video signal, max would be almost two miles unobstructed. “Unobstructed” means no hills, trees, rocks, bushes, trees, people, animals, buildings, cars, wifi, Bluetooth, etc between the RC car and remote. This is impossible unless you are on the Salt Flats.
how high mw you running on the vista? aye place the antenna as high as possible :) with 1.3ghz i use filters. i wonder if this beats crossfire ^^ but its more bulky.
Steve it’s brill it goes this distance, but if the video link doesn’t go as far as the remote and car is that not a problem ? And I’d be more concerned about theft of car ?
Only a problem if you are doing FPV. The majority of people using this remote are those doing SPEED RUNS with fast RC Cars since the biggest problem there is connection.... which is now a thing of the past due to the MT12.
That would be the 4-in-1 model. You bind the receivers as per normal bind process. All Radiomaster 4-in-1 chips are the same so they usually publish a list of compatible receivers.
Captain, ask me a question, please! I'm planning to buy a radio control master radio, so I can travel long distances, but I'm in doubt between a surface radio, the MT12 multi protocol, or an aerial drone radio, the TX16s, which of these two models MT12 or TX16s? Remembering, I want to put it in a car! an FPV, dude! Help me decide which radio to opt for, please, which one will I have the longest distance?
Hello. To make it simple, what do I need to run fpv or what exactly did you use like the goggles and video? Other than the transmitter. Yeah, sorry I honestly don't know. Just wanna experience what it's like other than how far the eye can see. To just drive and enjoy the video view
from my plane experience: head tracking will require 1 or 2 servos on a camera pan/tilt mechanism. the pan/tilt servos are controlled via the head tracker unit, into the Tx, thru the Rx, and would require 1 or 2 extra channels on the Rx (cap'n drone said the Rx had 3 channels - all for vehicle control). The pan/tilt servos are driven from the/an Rx. it would be possible to have another Tx/Rx pair for the HT/pan-tilt setup, but that means another radio/link. So, does the Tx have a "DSC" or "trainer" port/link for a HT unit? don't know, but the Rx seems to lack channels.

Nice. Whart was the maximum distance between the car and you? Btw, it should help the video signal if you stand up or go to a more elevated point.
