My Arrma Typhon has ELRS PWM receiver with a Walksnail hd system but since i build fpv drones, i decided to use my fpv Radiomaster Boxer transmitter with it so i didn't have to purchase another transmitter. Crossfire is still a flawless option for FPV RCs. I am not a good enough driver to tell latency anyway so I just have ELRS set to long range. I’m going car and gimbal for my next purchase. That’s a bit of a spoiler for a future vid tho lol

Hey brother, I really need your help with just ONE question!! 🙏
I’m running an RC8X too. And currently using the supplied R8FG receiver.
I want to run the same (or similar setup) for RC FPV on my Arrma Kraton 6s EXB.
Question: !! If I run DJI goggles and an O3 air unit, paired with an ELRS module… does that video system also need to plug into an ELRS receiver on the car? Or is the video transmission (to and from) all managed through the O3 VTX and goggles?
I guess second question😂: For the ELRS receiver in the car… is that just so the protocol transmits back to me hand radio for longer range? Or do I also need to bind my RadioLink and car ESC to the ELRS receiver in the car.
Those are the only two parts I need help with.
1.Does video get transmitted and received completely through the DJI system? Or does it all need to connect with the car, ESC, ELRS, etc?
2.same question as No.1, but for the ELRS module and receiver in car? Or can I still use the RadioLink R8FG in the car, add an ELRS receiver in car, that simply connects to the ELRS module that I rig to my remote through the DSC port?

Thanks for all the kind words scattered throughout your massive comment my dude 😂🤙 Right on so first: your RC8X won’t bind to an ELRS receiver without a custom cable and an ELRS module plugged into the RC8X.
You don’t need ELRS to run DJI though; they are totally separate, so don’t worry about that. But you will have to “arm” the O3 air unit or it will output less than half the power (and so your video range will kinda suck). I am releasing a product in the next week or two (hopefully before my birthday on the 9th, that’s the goal) that will send the “arm” signal to the O3 air unit, without any receiver input needed. It’s automatic. No programming a flight controller. Just plug and play.
Now, the O3 air unit will out-range a stock RC8X but not by a huge amount. You could be good and happy with the stock RC8X, so I’d recommend getting the video system up and going first and seeing how stuff is. Good luck bro 🤙

You are the man! Thank you brother!
I was missing that “gap” of understanding.
Ok, I have seen your videos (and others) using a custom DSC cable wired (soldered) to the ELRS model (let’s say Radiomaster 2.4ghz ELRS module for this example) and strapped to the RC8X. Which I’ll eventually do. Would be cool to utilize the RC8x FPV split screen eventually 😂🫡
But for the sake of running an O3 VTX to the DJI goggles, and running the RC8x for RC telemetry… I should be able to have a good time as is. Basically?
Then the added ELRS module would just be a “range bonus” for the RC telemetry (in the future, but not needed now, added money, and added setup time). Pretty sure I’m connecting the dots now.
YES! I will absolutely buy the O3 arming unit whenever you have them available!! Should I just DM you on IG or something? My IG is @kylefromthefuture 🤝🤝
Really appreciate you helping me understand this point FINALLY. It’s been driving me nuts. Greatly appreciated

Nice video but I still don't understand why and how this radio is "better" than other radios? Sure, it has EdgeTX and ExpressLRS, but how does this actually make it "better" than other radios? 99% of rc car drivers do not need super mega hardcore long range, so having it only makes it "better" for 1% of drivers. EdgeTX means what exactly? Other radios do what they are supposed to do so how can EdgeTX be "better"? I don't get it.

I drove my Mini Z this weekend and I put my EPA and expos on 1 switch and my son’s on another. For the ELRS, I put in a function to alarm when the car’s Lipo hit 7V (2s). I also created a trigger lock with flashing lights so if I squeeze the trigger by accident while on the bench the car doesn’t go flying off into the shadow realm. Many programing possibilities to customize this radio.

Just to add, you can easily share complete model setups with anybody else in the world by copying the model (from the as card) and then sending it to them (via email or whatever); they just put the model on their as card, pop it in the mt12 and now they have “perfectly set up racer or crawler” (minus trims obviously). Also, for people racing at the highest level, this radio has the lowest latency ever available.
I will dive more into that in the review I’m finishing up, but this was the “range video” so I kinda focus on that in this one. Plenty of other features that I will get into 🤙

The problem with the 4G video systems is latency / lag. It’s so much that your top speed is like 15mph.
