    When I make my freezer quiches, I freeze the filling in the bag and when I go to cook it I just thaw it out and fill the shell. It stores so much better in the freezer.

    My husband bought me some standing mats from Cornwell Tools for when I'm canning. They are AMAZING to stand on.
    I just did a freezer meal session, only 10 lol but I feel so accomplished when I have ready-made home made meals on hand.

    I make a lot of meals for my husband and my dad and what I do with a make a big batch of chili spaghetti and homemade soups and put it in two cup individual containers and freeze them that way and then when I go to give them to people I pop them out of that container keep my container and put them in a ziplock baggie and write down what it is and what to cook it for and it's so easy and efficient and I've been helping a lot of older people with that over the last 25-30 years just thought I'd give you guys a little tip thank you❤

      @FreezerMeals101  Год назад +1

      That's awesome! We do individual meals quite a bit for our families either in a quart sized bag or in small containers. It's wonderful for singles or couples to have a variety of meals. It just goes to show that freezer meals are for everybody!

    You, two, are just precious to watch. How nice to have a neighbor/friend that is so well synchronised. I know all about the sore feet, hips and back, but it is SO worth the pain and effort when you’re able to, “Stack your freezer and relax.” 😆 May I ask what size your family is or how many you are able to feed with the 1 gallon size bags?

      Thank you so much! Our family is large (we have 7 kids but only 5 still live at home) and Christie's family is 4. The meals in general feed 6. They do feed our family but without leftovers and they feed Christie's with enough left for her husband to take to work for lunch the next day.

    I use red sauce for - spaghetti, chili, lasagna, cover noodles for goulash, pizza, soups, cover tortellini/ ravioli etc., cover breaded eggplant or zucchini….
    Luv it with hamburger n Italian sausage. Here in Germany we have hamburger mixed with pork- I add the Italian sausage to my red sauce.
    To make KILLER red sauce use canned tomatoes from your home grown tomatoes. AND I add tomato soup- if the sauce it too watery I’ll add the powdered tomato soup s and dried onions.

Then put nacho cheese ontop,meat of your choice, dices onions and a can of Rotel then top with shredded cheese put aluminum foil ontop preferably the heavy duty grill kind is better. Then defrost the day before then bake at 350 for an hour.

    I keep listening to the part about taco spaghetti. Are you sure you only want 8 spaghetti noodles?
    The million dollar stuffed shells I have a couple of hints. Thaw chopped spinach instead of chopping your own. To fill the shells or manicotti put the filling in a gallon size bag and cut off a corner and use like a piping bag. Have the shells open side up and squeeze filling in cut off with a knife and move to the next. Yes I have filled a metric butt ton of shells over the years. I also freeze in a single layer on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper or wax paper. They pop off and go right into a few large bags.

      Awesome tips! I used the bag trick to fill manicotti once and will remember it for the next time we do shells! And YES it's only 8 spaghetti noodles. Haha. Kidding. Whoops! Good catch. Haha

      Chest freezers... get the cheap non woven reusable shopping bags...the ones a little more fabric and less plastic feeling ifnyou know what I mean (the cheap ones) put your like items in bags and then you can lift the bags out...I do chicken meat , beef meat, hotdog/brat, and veggie bags, and lastly complete meals...

      @@jujube2407 I use bags too. I like the natural fiber colored ones, so I can use a permanent marker to write on the bag what's inside then I tie the staps together on top, so the contents don't fall out when/if they tip over in the freezer. We also started making a list/inventory & taped it to the top of the freezer lid that tells us where stuff is inside, so we don't have to remember or spend time digging around. Because we discovered the longer your freezer is open, the more ice crystals you'll get on your food.

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  2 года назад

      Diane, since the cost varies greatly depending on the area you live, we don't share our costs anymore. When we used to, some people felt like failures themselves for not being able to get their costs as low as ours (because the cost of groceries where they live is much higher) and many were upset that we were spending too much (because where we are in Canada, the costs are higher than in many of the States) so we now try to avoid specifics about cost other than speaking in percentages.

    What kind of veggie “beef” do you use? Do you brown it up like ground beef before you put it in a freezer meal?

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  2 года назад +1

      I use Yves ground round, the regular and the Mexican (depending on the recipe). I prefer the texture when I brown it, so I brown it before adding it to the recipes (just like you would for ground beef). Hope that helps!

    I know this must be a stupid question... but I'll ask anyway. I have made several meals that I have frozen and cooked successfully. So here is the stupid question.... I am making a plan for freezer meals to make for my youngest son & daughter-in-law who are expecting my first granddaughter in July. I am soon to be 60 in August and am thrilled to see my first grandchild...all boys I had, so a Granddaughter is especially thrilling. My stupid question is, if you don't cook the freezer meals first (that I plan to make for them), do you thaw them first (like the morning before) and then bake or bake directly from frozen? Need help from anyone who has time to reply! Much thanks!

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  2 года назад

      Congratulations on your granddaughter! How exciting! There is no such thing as a stupid question. For most of our freezer meals, we thaw before cooking. For a few things like lasagna or pasta baked, you can cook from frozen but you need to increase cooking time for that. But the general rule is to thaw first and then cook

    I just found this channel today. We are vegetarians, but I can tell that your recipes would be fantastic! I have a question about the veggie beef you use. Do you cook it before adding it to your bags? Also, do you do any other vegetarian substitutions? I will definitely look at ways to make some of these meals in a vegetarian way! I want to make meal preparation more streamlined because making every meal from scratch each day isn't time effective. Along with being vegetarian, I have one son who has food allergies and another son who is gluten intolerant. I am looking forward to watching more of your fun and inspiring videos!

      Hi Lori, I prefer to brown my veggie beef before adding it to the recipes because I like the texture better that way. In our big freezer meal marathons, we always have at least some vegetarian recipes, but I have a few videos that are devoted to just meatless meals. There one here: ruclips.net/video/PU7fQe3y1Fs/видео.html and another here: ruclips.net/video/B8_mqiECiUM/видео.html

      You can utilize your living room too. Just cover the carpet with plastic drop clothes like painters use & utilize folding tables or coffee tables. Set up cutting stations, can opening stations, or just supply spots... get creative for all the overflow that you need space for. You can even set up crock pots, instapots, or whatever on folding tables if need be to get some things done while utilizing 2 spaces. Also when summer hits you can set up outdoor cooking areas too to beat the indoor heat 😀

    Since most of your meals are flat and stacked what order do you put them so that you’ll know what is what to pull a meal at a glance?

    • @FreezerMeals101
      @FreezerMeals101  2 года назад +1

      Hi Theresa - great question! I guess it's up to you how you want to stack them, but since we do one protein at a time, it's normal for "all the ground beef to be at the bottom" and then "all the chicken is on top" but we still spread it around a little bit so we don't have two beef hashes on top of each other. After awhile, we get to know what they look like from the bit we can see, so it's pretty easy to dig through the stack and find what we want. Other days, we don't care in the slightest and just pick up whatever is on top. The less brain-work the better!
      There is a lady in our FB group (facebook.com/groups/241144882941938) who not only has it marked down on whiteboards, she collects her weeks' worth of meals and puts them in a totally different bin for easy access, plus it helps her with meal planning/groceries for the week. You can be as organized or as loosey-goosey as you want! I hope that helps!
