- The Crysis Remastered Trilogy is completing soon with the arrival of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 Remastered and John Linneman travelled to Crytek's Frankfurt HQ to speak with the developers about their approach to the final two games in the series and to see how the studio has taken onboard feedback from the first Crysis Remastered. Oh... and a chance to see first footage of Crysis 2 Remastered running on PS5? Let's do it.

The BEST part of this video is how humble the Crytek members seem to be. They didn't mind you laying out criticisms and cautious optimism about the trilogy based on the launch state of Crysis 1 and it was great to hear what felt like real answers to how they set out not to repeat the same mistakes.
doesnt negate the fact that Crysis 1 was shit and Crysis 2 will be similar
You've obviously never had the misfortune to deal with Crytek directly yourself. I'm certain your opinion would change in under a minute once you found out how disingenuous they truly are.
@@johntaylor3347 Could you elaborate on that?
@@Freestyle80 lmfao you're clueless. Just move on 🤡🤡🤡
These kind of answers you get when you ask developers and not their salesmen.
It’s good to see the Devs reach out to DF to get technical feedback on visuals and performance.
I actually think it’s weird. Shouldn’t the devs be perfectly capable of knowing if the game looks and runs well?
@@DeesBees85 they just could read twiter and reddit about all the people complaining on the bad Performance and single core crap
@@blitzwing1 sure, I just don’t believe the problems of the first Crysis Remaster had anything to do with not getting outside opinions. It’s was a rushed slapdash port job that was terribly optimized.
@@DeesBees85 This is also promotion of course.
its just another cashcow "remaster"
1. I love how transparent they are about everything.
2. I dislike how DF didn't ask what specific Ray Tracing effects will be implemented into to PC version.
I literally only read about the Crysis 2 and 3 remasters earlier, immediately checked to see if DF had a video, had to settle for watching the 4 month old updated Crysis 1 analysis, and as soon as I finished this one was uploaded. Perfecto!

To this day I still can't believe i manage to finish Crysis 2 and 3 on the PS3 and wasn't even bothered with the framerate or graphics settings.
That's how good the games are!
To me, the graphics at the time were mind-blowing
the optimization of the game is excellent
Yeah, because the older you get, more your standard will rise with new technology. I mean, people thought ps1 Laura Croft was cutting edge.
The 15fps physics for environmental objects and vegetation was very noticable though. But other than that, it was very impressive!
I never get tired of seeing that Crysis nanosuit in their office every time someone interviews the Crytek team.
This was really interesting. I admire this guy's honesty.
John my dude your professionalism and speaking skills and confidence asking pretty tough interview questions are bloody top notch.
Great interview! I'm so happy that Crytek went for the step to include Digital Foundry in the development. They seem to have listened to the feeback for Crysis 1 remastered for the most part, at least as much as they could, considering time and budget constraints. I'm sure that the time, budget and manpower for these remasters is much lower than people think. Crytek isn't what it used to be and that is something that has to be considered by them and us in terms of judging these projects. The devs seem quite passionate and from what I'm seeing here, Crysis 2 and 3 are in good hands. Now I'm hoping that Crysis 1 remastered will get more optimized as mentioned in the video and maybe, if possible have the kinks that are left ironed out and that the trilogy will release on steam as a full package. Really worried about the games being forever exclusive to the Epic game store :(
Yeah if a game is on epic exclusively, it doesn't exist to most PC gamers. Then you have to do extra for the steam release to get over the negative perception you create when you go for epic exclusivity, even then a lot of us just won't buy it even if they put extras in. I can forgive indie titles and smaller titles (e.g. pheonix point) but AAA publishers can shove it up their arse.
A simple team of 2 modders did way better in Crysis Enhanced Mod than the full Saber/Crytek Crysis Remaster.
@@redko79 Did you even watch the video? Look, I'm just as unhappy with the remaster as you are, but hating on the devs shows no understanding of the process. They had to use the 360/ps3 Cryengine 3 version as a base, because otherwise, they would have had to rewrite most of, if not the entire code of the cryengine 2 original pc version, in order to put these remasters on xbox one and ps4. Console versions are needed for profit, as much as us pc gamers hate to admit it. Also, remember what they said in the video, about how they had to reimplement a plethora of features back into the remaster, plus somebody higher up decided to implement raytracing, which used up massive resources, that were needed elsewhere. They simply did not have enough time and manpower, which is why they brought on more people for 2 and 3, as said in the video.
That Crysis Enhanced mod looks nice, but they did not do nearly as much work as the sabre/crytek guys and they took much more time. It is simply not true and the mod would NEVER run on consoles and it runs worse than you would think. Even the unmodded Crysis is IMPOSSIBLE to run at a stable 60fps , even on the most highend system of 2021, due to cpu bottlenecks. Imagine how horrible the mod runs with all the draw distance and added things...
The remaster might run bad, but at similair settings to the original it is so much better (especially after the patches), as the digital foundry videos showed. Plus, it does not have features like svogi, raytracing, resolution scaling, physically based rendering, Tesselation, TAA/DLSS and much more that the remaster has. You also have to keep in mind that Crytek is a shadow of its former self. Most of their top guys are gone after the many controversies. Cevat Yerli himself stepped down from his leadership position after ruining the company and having to close or sell most of their other studios outside of Germany.
These aren't the guys from 10 years ago! Having said that, I do agree that some of the textures, faces, effects and lighting were really messed up and while some of it might have to do with the Console engine, other things were definitely due to art decisions, that were overlooked. Crytek admitted this in the video as well, which is why they completely changed their approach with Crysis 2 and 3. They messed up and they admitted it, usually PR does not allow them to admit these things, so this shows good will, at least somewhat.
@@pcgamingftw5694 But I do like the new natural look of Crysis two though. i hope simply they will release tools let the people keeping improving the games.
@@redko79 Agreed, they nailed it and the new rendering techniques compliment the careful art direction really well! You can tell they changed their methods and maybe it'll even look a bit better in the final release! Here is hoping that 3 will be treated similairly. I feel like that one will be a bit harder to get right and they might not change much at all for it, just like Mass Effect 3 in the legendary edition...
As for tools, I'm afraid they will likely not get the time, manpower or permission from the higher ups.
I think Crysis 3 never had any modding tools in the first place right? Don't remember about 2, though I think there was a decent amount of playing around in Cryengine 3 with Crysis 2 assets back in the day.
Btw, did you ever try MaldoHD textures for Crysis 2? One of the best texture packs ever released by a modder! Together with the DX11 patch it truly made the game better! Not sure if you could use some of the textures for ones Crytek "overlooked" in the remaster. Might be impossible because of changes like physically based rendering.
I don’t mind when day 0 or 1 patches contain pretty minor updates but the disc should always have the major game and graphical features with minimal bugs.
Yeah, and it would be nice to get a "Gold Edition" one year later, including all patches, to add that to the collection.

What I enjoyed the most in Crysis 2 over Crysis 1 was the weapon feedback.
I still prefer Crysis 1 single shot to Crysis 2 overall, but full auto feels a lot better in 2.
And the nanosuit upgrades were awesome
Personaly i always prefered gunplay/shooting in crysis1. Don't really know why. Maybe its the animation, sounds or something else. The weapons in crysis 2 are too bulky, imo and I dont really like the look of its hitmarkers.
@@johnsmith-ck4qt I think I can guess why. You prefer higher FoV. Where in most FPSs, weapon gets placed further away from the camera HUD, the higher the fov value is. I also prefer higher FoV but prefer a static placement of the weapon in the HUD, close enough to enjoy the intricate details.
More varied settings and better AI. Far better sense of being inside a blockbuster Hollywood movie
I really liked Crysis 2 multiplayer at the time. Always eager to see what Crytek is doing next.
Hey man, thanks for the positive comment
When you wrote about multi-player I was for sure expecting a complaint about the trilogy not having multi-player. Pleasantly surprised
It was my 1st multiplayer experience back in 2011, and I had a hell of a time with it. I still hear the women voice shouting "Return to the Crash Site!" in my head sometimes
The multiplayer portion was built by Crytek Nottingham, I also remember really liking it at the time! Felt like a really competent swing at CoD.
Crysis 2s multiplayer was addicting even if was very COD like
We need a Crysis 4 next
crysis 2 still looks gorgeous, and it runs really well on old gpu
yeah except for the polygons
@@Kahunaseb what do you mean?
@@randomdude8897 he probably means the character models are dated because the low polygon count
@@theanimerapper6351 I thought he was talking about the tessellation in the game, bc Crysis 2 was notorious at the time for having aggressive tessellation that would basically up the polycount of things you couldn’t even see and some objects had such an unnecessarily high polycount that it would affect performance. What I remember specifically from that time were the road barriers and the fact that the water in the level was rendered underneath the entirety of the level even if the only place you could see it was the coastline. So if you were in a level that had the coast or a bay area nearby, it meant the water was everywhere even underneath you. So it would render unnecessary polygons and kill performance
Of looks and runs good on 360 to me
I just wanted to say that I am loving these interview videos. I hope you guys continue to do these with even more studio's developers.
They need to finish remastering the first Crysis so it's actually a multi-threaded game and not CPU bottlenecked by virtually every modern gaming PC.
yes of course. plus the remastered graphics is DOA straightaway. Modded enhanced version even looks better than that. Horrible art direction with the first one.
@Transistor Jump Well they messed up. They need to go back again on it.
@Transistor Jump Then they shouldn't have bothered in the first place, since that was the biggest issue by far with the original game and should have been their first priority to fix with the remaster.
@Transistor Jump they are on cryengine 86 and never fixed their aaa game. Barely one update patch for crysis 1
@@mauriciochacon well this is just straight up bs. They have improved crysis remastered a lot with patches. Is it perfect? Nowhere near but you don't need to make stupid lies up that make you look foolish to get a point across.
I am very excited for the remastered trilogy, as crysis series is one of my favourite games 😀
Same!
Still holds up really well for a 10 year old game. Crysis 3 should be impressive too.
Cause these games were bleeding edge tech when they came out
Same, am still waiting for a rig to play Crysis 3 at max settings w/ good fps (my 7yr old laptop provided a playable xp but not an enjoyable one), can only imagine how good the Remastered version will look
I don't know about Crysis 3 but Crysis 2 looks and plays absolutely awful.
@@AJ-xv7oh Maybe on consoles, but on pc its okay when you play on max settings and with dx11/high rest textures. Its definitely dated, textures are muddy, animations are playing at 30 fps, the suppressor has a hexagonal shape rather than a round shape due to low poly count. But overall, its not THAT bad, dated, but not a complete blurry mess, its 10 years old after all.
@@Rajta_ I've played it on both and It looks awful on both. Genuinely awful. Crysis 1 looks sooo much better. There are numerous games over 10 years old that looks alot better then this. I'm playing Arkham City at the minute and that looks great. Crysis 2 looks and plays dreadfully.
Very cool to hear the devs reaching out and getting DF to help with development and feedback. You guys are truly the experts.
Excitement level dropped just a little when (towards the end) you mention it was more so a PS4/X1 release, and is just 'enhanced' on the XSX/PS5. So, still not quite up to the potential current owners could be enjoying
Yea I guess but remember the last gen is still hd. Doesn’t mean the game doesn’t look or run great. Other than faster loading and some better lighting (depending) this new gen isn’t that much of a visual upgrade.
Doesn’t mean we won’t get super visually impressive games halfway through this gen. But probably will depend if a great new engine can run on it.
@@Ray-dl5mp Most games run at 60fps on the PS5 and Series X this makes a massive difference to the smoothness and clarity of the visuals. Then of course the PS5 exclusives like Rachet & Clank, Demon's Souls and Returnal look insane, far superior to anything on the last gen. I expect most 'next-gen' exclusives will look spectacular, but at present most games are cross-gen, this ratio should begin to reverse from 2022 onwards. It's worth bearing in mind that BF2042 will have up to 128 players on the 'next-gen' consoles, and only 64 players on older consoles, that is an example of how 'next-gen' is enabling a leap in scale.
@@Lieutenant_Scrotes Great points. I played Returnal, extremely impressed with the visuals and feel/sound.
@@Lieutenant_Scrotes you should change the term of "next gen" PS5 and series X right now is "current gen" And ps4 is "last gen"

Respect to the devs for actually allowing DF to ask the honest question of "what went wrong and how are you ensuring it won't happen again." Most devs don't even allows for interviews that aren't pure pandering from Gamespot or PC Gamer or IGN, etc. and commonly shoot down the notion that they could even be wrong...I mean just go take a look (cautiously, braincells may be at risk) at the Twitter feeds of Infinity Ward's Joe Cecot - lead designer...he and many others like the Apex Legends team essentially believe in this dangerous and ridiculous notion that everything is an opinion and they just happen to like their opinion better than the community's. The largest issue is the lack of humility and criticism in the game industry internally, as studio after studio falls to scandal...breeding an ego-driven, bro-culture tends to land the wrong people at the top. I wouldn't want to work with a "chad" as my boss.
So, again, respect for actually having an interview with DF instead of the usual, heavily moderated ad campaign. FFS, Ubisoft doesn't even allow for any external interviews during their events, they just pretend to be the influencers and journalists themselves...
they are in good standing with each other. But I imagine that that particular question was vetted first. i doubt they caught him off guard with it. Crytek have had some serious issues but they're decent people. they tried their best to stick to their vision each time. I'll support them no matter what.
They went through the trouble of sub par, resource heavy, software ray tracing on a weaker console. But now that consoles support ray tracing on a hardware level they're like "nah fam, could take too much resources".
Well I think that is the point. They spent too much tying to make the raytracing work, and as a result the game suffered heavy in other areas because of it.
@@sct1820 on last gen. The problem is it isn't releasing properly for next gen where it can handle it
It's because it's a lazy remaster .its just a 4k upscale from a 360 console game
It's because they are developing on the previous gen APIs/SDKs. I'm pretty sure that Crytek is trying to do what they can with the budget and tools they have. At least from what I understand, they haven't been in their best shape for some time now.
@@wingedhussar1453 not even close. Wtf. Did you watch the whole interview?

Hopefully it's present in the final product
I mean it is a remaster not a remake
@@freshprinz9829 that's a lame excuse for remasters nowadays. numerous brilliant remasters are out there. But Crytek so far has heavily failed on providing a solid remaster.
@@sherlockholmes7630 I love their "heavily failed" Crysis 1 remasetered.
@@betatronhammer7156 That's good. "Heavily failed" is still very accurate though... I played the original Crysis for the first time a few months before the remaster was announced and loved it, and was still planning on picking up the remaster but instantly saw how lazy and generally shit it was, so I never did pick it up, thankfully.
I did however play Crysis 2 & 3 on each of their launch dates and loved those games, and the remasters (from this video) look to still be sort of lazy, but a step up from the original Crysis remaster at least.
No multiplayer (even though they said straight out the date that there wasn't going to be mp) is still immensely disappointing, and my day was indeed ruined when I read that.
Refreshing how genuine this interview feels, actual real question without fluffing them up. And these two seem to care about the game, fingers crossed
Not sure what planet you're from, but this entire interview was nothing but fluff. Not once did I hear DF say "Crysis for PC looked like shit because you guys used a console port, so what are you doing about it?". That's how you say it without fluff.
I also didn't hear DF say "The PC version looked worse than the original version, so are you guys going to make these remasters actual look better and worth buying?" That's the stuff I was waiting to hear.
@@gelfandothea The PC version is far worse than the PS3/360 version in numerous ways. It has terribly optimized assets with absurd poly counts, unoptimized particle effects, and it has worse gunplay, worse AI, and was made by people who later admitted they had no idea what they were doing. The 2011 version (developed by some of the greatest developers in the industry, who would go on to make games like TLOU2, RDR2, and more) also implemented the streamlined nanosuit (a key design element for getting modern audiences to play the game), and the 2011 version also had better audio design in some regards. (Which the remaster ended up borking slightly by trying to sound more like the PC original.)
The process of taking the PC version and reproducing millions of dollars' worth of optimization and improvement work done by Crytek UK would have been very expensive. Using their work was the only sensible option. Also, the art design issues with the remaster have NOTHING to do with the PS3/360 version, which had its own (sometimes gorgeous) art direction that the remaster tended to ignore. The Switch version hews closer to PS3/360, which is why it has golden sunrises while the PC/PS4/XBO ports by a different team have more blue and white sunrises. They didn't even keep the PS3/360's sexier gun models in the remaster, reverting back to the PC original's.
Other issues like bugs were inevitable regardless of which version was used as a foundation, and the issue was that the remaster wasn't given enough time, and didn't have enough supervision from Crytek.
Amazing thank you for posting this !!
Glad that they are taking the feedback seriously, and still working on cpu improvements for the remaster of crysis 1. That needs a lot more in terms of cpu fixes.
Excellent job guys can't wait, one note for DF please give us subtitle when speaking with non-native English speakers for easier understanding. Thanks
As non-native speaker who's done two years of American English accent training, I can say that training my ears to hear the American sounds and training my mouth to pronounce them also helped me understand other accents. Previously on, I had a very hard time understanding British accents and Indian accents, but now, I can easily understand them.
Before accent training, I had to use subtitles to understand what was being said in a native conversation, but that's all changed. I agree that subtitles can help a lot and they should be considered, but also exposing yourself to different accents without having access to subtitles can help a lot.

I wasn't expecting this video today I just found out about the trilogy remastered 2 days ago. As a person that built a PC just for crisis back in the day that is now on a series x I am very very satisfied by this video drop. Nerdgasm!
your pc plays an xbox?
Recently replayed Crysis 2 on pc 1440p/144 max settings and to my eyes it looks exactly the same.
I played Crysis 2 on pc over the weekend and while I can see some differences, particularly in the overall world lighting, at a glance it is fairly indistinguishable from the pc version with cranked settings. I actually did a double take and had to check the top corner of the screen to see that it was the remaster running and not the original pc version... which makes the value proposition for this a bit questionable on pc's. Don't get me wrong, upon more careful inspection it does look better, but I am not quite convinced it looks good enough to fully warrant an upgrade on the platform. I'd have to see more in depth side by side comparisons. Now, if you are primarily a console player without a good gaming pc, that value proposition changes significantly. The two console versions of Crysis 2 were famously quite poor, so if you are making the jump from playing on PS3/Xbox 360 to a PS5/Xbox Series console the upgrade appears to be an easy sell. I'm morbidly curious to know how this will fare on PS4/Xbox One, but that's what DF videos are for. Hopefully because DF is being consulted early we won't be seeing the dreaded 31fps cap conversation pop up again.
"People are pissed when they can't run at max settings with their expensive card. Things still look good, but we've reduced the ceiling so people stop bitching".
That is unfortunate.
Sorry but Crysis remastered looks terrible for how power hungry it is.
to be fair there are settings on "can it run crysis" mode that change LoD settings to unoptomized levels that are almost impossible to even see in 99% of the game world...but they tank performance by double digit percentages
@@AdamCate Yes I am aware. This is the type of setting that should be stripped out because it's never worth the cost.
@@Phil_529 Why should it be stripped out, today its not worth it. 5 years time when a 3090 should hopefully be a midrange card if it drops down 1 tier of performance each generation. 3090 - 4080(which shouldve been a 2022 card but the way the world is I dont know if thats possible) - 5070( release 2024) - 6060(release 2026)
If the world was normal a 3090 perfomance today will be a $320 card in 5 years.
@@imo098765 Because “can it run crysis” settings is just a meme gone wrong so they cranked everything to 11 with no regard to performance/visual balance. It’s been almost 15 years since OG crysis and now Crysis remastered suffer from the same single thread clock speed limitation. You can’t just build non functioning garbage and expect future hardware to magically fix it.
Cyberpunk 2077 did a much better job of pushing the graphics envelope of today and will see great gains with the 4090. Crysis remastered will not.
I really liked the guy on the right (John said he was the project lead I think?). He gave really frank and genuine answers to a lot of the questions and I really enjoyed listening to him. Excellent video DF!
The kind of content we want to see. Kudos DF
It's good that it's coming, but I'm still sore from the last remastered Crysis. By the time they fixed that, it was on sale for 50% off, which doesn't make early buyers feel good about their decision! So I'll go for this when they get it right.
Edit - after speed-typing my rant, I've reached the point where you question him about this. Thank you for doing that.
Did they actually fix it though? Its main problem was being mostly single-threaded still and CPU bottlenecked by any mid-to-high range PC, just like the original game.
At least we dont hav to worry about the 2nd and 3rd game, since they arent configured like the 1st game to run based on single thread performance. Plus the 2nd game is more linear and the 3rd game is semi-open.
@@sugonmaballs They never fixed the single thread bottleneck, it's still there (but reduced a bit, to be fair). Such a pointless 'remaster', I'm glad I have copies of the original games.
That's basically every game lol. Every game drops by about 50% after 6 months or so.of course you pay more at the start
The "Crysis remastered" was non-working piece of CPAP on my Xbox Series X. I hope 2-nd and 3-rd remasters will be more play able.
2 an 3 will be less demanding smaller open spaces
Great interview :)
My experience of crysis 2 was the 360 version and I remember being blown away by the graphics and how it ran on the 360 (I was 12 and I knew how challenging the original was) seeing this now I'm still super impressed
"If they are not playing the game at maximum settings and they still have a good graphic card (...) they are disappointed"
While that is true, going solely by that logic will prevent you from really pushing the technical envelope in the same way the first Crysis did. Worrying about making the game run at max settings on every platform is kind of against the Crysis mentra. Just make sure every platform can reach the utmost of what it can do with the given hardware, and have some crazy max settings which might be usable with future hardware.
Exactly. the only way to please people who want to run on max at launch is to remove options that would make the game look better on future hardware. Its not bad optimisation, its just more options, customisability, and future proofing
The Crysis 1 Remastered has Settings which exceeds the capabilities of most modern GPUs and people were in fact disappointed. They did it, but nobody wanted that.
@@tazn1 That’s kind of sad, these max settings didn’t take anything from them. They could just play on settings adapted to their hardware. But I get that graphic cards today are expensive and people
Want to feel like they’re getting the best.
I suppose this is the true issue: it wasn't pushing the technical envelope, it was just unlocking visual settings that had no significant contribution to the final frame
@@shiroishii7312 Can it run Crysis? settings are just a meme, the real max settings are Very High.
We need Crysis 3 Remastered!!
I am still in awe of how good it looks for an 8 yr old game😍😍
Crysis 3 is going to be remastered. They're releasing a trilogy remastered
The natural lighting looks great
I had a great time playing Crysis 2 & 3 on the Playstation 3 and I'm looking forward to playing the remastered versions on my Playstation 5
I remember buying this for 360 way before discovering DF and just feeling the game was wrong somehow. Will be happy to replay it now that it seems stable
The game should support motion aiming on ps5. Makes the game more accessible+ actually gives controllers a much faster and more accurate aim
What is motion aiming
@@Keepskatin you move your controller to aim.
@@MrRonski sounds like a bad idea. I hate motion controls on my phone already
@@Keepskatin motion aiming is actually much better than thumbsticks when you learn it. And thats why I want it to become an option.
I really recommend trying to learn how to use motion on some mobile games. You would realize how good it is.
(Big turning is still done by thumbsticks but fine aiming+ flicks are done by motion)
Yup. Very good, almost mouse like accuracy!!
I love how transparent the Crytek guys are, not shying away from criticism and just letting us know exactly what's going on, and the reason behind decisions. So keen for this remastered trilogy !
Thank you, it was very interesting. Hopefully there will be a full detailed pick and comparison of the Remastered version of the game for the PC
Really can't wait for 2 and 3 remasters. Can't think of a better team than digital foundry to take a look at this.
"Running on PS5"
Shows Xbox button prompts
Exactly))
"We believe if DF is happy with a product, then the majority of people will be happy with the product" Damn, thats some high price right there! Congrats to the DF team, im 100% convinced that without their work during the last gen period we wouldn't have so many people now actually informed in what a proper product should run and look like, im sure they are part of the reason we have so many performance modes in next gen consoles.
Good job on the questions John. You asked what we all wanted to know.
Honestly I never felt that crysis 3 needed a remaster. Still holds up very well today imo.
640p, 23fps? get your head off your pc!! ;)))
A lot of things I dislike about it, though. Coloring and contrast look off for some reason, water reflections and physics look rudimentary and the grass also interacts in an uncanny way. I doubt they will improve any of that, besides the water reflections via ray tracing.
On PC sure. On consoles it's a disgusting mess.
But PC is still gonna get ray tracing which should make a pretty big difference in the lighting.
@@michaelzomsuv3631 I dont think they will redo lighting via RT, they have svogi for that which is perfect. you will get reflections and a perf hit only :))
What about giving us Crysis :Warhead with the Trilogy remaster?
thanks for the vid!
Oh, I see that Astro City Mini stick in the background!
This looks better than bf2042...madness.
Fact !!
You went to Crytek to take a look at Crysis 2 Remastered and you didn't bring Alex??? 😱😱😱
Alex might still be disappointed in them for how they treated Crysis 1 Remastered. Just my guess.
Probably because John lives near Frankfurt and two guys for one job just doesn't pay off.
They were to scared to invite him.
This is a very interesting video. Nice to see how honest and candid the devs are about the feedback to Crysis 1 remastered. And it's very exciting to see how Crysis 2 is looking. I hope the PC version of 2 and 3 are well optimised cause I'm definitely excited to see them with improved visuals and high frame rate.
Wow, those guys are on point. Seems like these are gonna be very nice remasters.
I honestly liked 2 a lot more than the first game so I'm very keen. Never got to play 3 so I'm keen to give it a shot.
You should certainly play the 3rd installment even if just for the graphics!! They are still mind-blowing
3 was really good, trust me.
3 was much better than 2. But 3 was also short and easy thanks to camo and the bow.
3 was amazing cant wait for the remaster
Both 2 and 3 are good back to back imo
I hope this Crysis Remaster will come with a multiplayer.
@Reaux
Multiplayer is the essence of fps gaming. No multiplayer, no buy...comprende ❓
this is neat seeing the changes
Very interesting and happy to see a major studio bring on external feedback early on like this. Kind of like a much less accessible "early access" program which is something that works super well when done right (look at what Larian is doing with Baldurs Gate 3).
🧐19:08 Crysis 2 pre-release footage running on PS5 yet hold Y to look? 😏 Are you sure this is PS5 footage?😅
Crysis 2 looks amazing. Can we get the remake for the remastered of Crysis 1?
very happy to hear they're still committed to Crysis 1 Remaster support. Hell yeah.
Does anyone know, if i picked up C1 to switch when it was released, then i have to buy it again, or crysis 2 and 3 will be available for purchase separately in the nintendo shop?
My favorite out of the trilogy. The music still excites me when I hear it.
Me too. 2 > 1 > 3 for me. The music is masterpiece in the second one.
I played Crysis 2 on 360 and 3 on PS3 and they were a little rough (though still great for the time). I've played a little Crysis Remastered on my PC (i5 9400, 1660ti) but I think the PS5 will be able to run it better so it'll be nice to have it all on there.
Played Crysis 2 on 360 recently and I think it is borderline unplayable. Framerate sits between 20-25 most of the time. This would be twitter-shitstorm territory nowadays (cyberpunk)
@@betatronhammer7156 You might be right, but unlike Cyberpunk the game wasn't loaded with bugs. For a third party game to get visuals like that on the 360/PS3 was a triumph in itself. Though the low framerate and sub-720p res definitely hurt it.
What a great video. Huge props to the crytek guys for being so open. They made mistakes with the first remaster but showing an openess to criticism and a willingness to try and not make those same mistakes again speaks volumes about them. It actually felt like they really do care about the games and their players. Ofc this could all just be good pr but we will see when 2 and 3 remaster get released.
@0:52 you can tell he gets no buns! 😂😂😂🤣
Crysis 2 is my fav part 😁 i remember playing it on 800x600 resolution on my PC. Can't wait to play it on PS5 🤩
I like remasters, but when they do a trilogy of remaster, every time they don't look the same... one is always pushed forward more... I feel if you remaster a trilogy, make all three games the same graphics (to me that adds another level to remastering, we feel more connected to the storyline since it all look the same).
Not that easy. Crisis had a huge engine shift between 1 and 2. This is a remaster. Likely a small budget compared to a remake. A remake can tinker with the engine and all assets. But that is costly for money and engineering, and sometimes that might be impossible. Crisis 1 was very limited to single thread performance... "Updating" that to look similar to Crysis 2 and 3 will likely require a huge overhaul or outright rebuild.
Bluepoint studio does the huge remakes. Look at PS5 Demon's Souls. That has a gigantic operational budget and a bevy of artists to redo almost the whole thing from the ground up. These Crysis remakes are, unfortunately, not at that kind of scale...
@@GordonGordon Also Crysis was made as a PC game first, whereas the sequels were console games first and foremost.
Thats the thing i loved about the Mass Effect legendary edition, all of the games looked pretty much on par when compared graphically. One of the reasons i'm looking forward to the GTA trilogy remaster.
They obviously checked user response for their first remaster before diving headfirst into remastering the other two (this stuff costs MONEY because development is not cheap). That's just common business sense. Yes there are companies who do it all at once but for those games the remaster is probably easier due to little changes in engine from title to title (ratchet, jack&daxter, sly-trilogy, probably even Mass Effect.). Why can't Activision remaster all CODs at once?
That was a great honest interview, please take time for this game especially PC version - do not hurry and complete it fast, for me it's also fine to release this game next year 2022 Q1.
Fantastic interview! It's clear that Crytek are committed to getting the remastered sequels right.
