My favourite new HW casting wasn’t even nominated. It was the Raijin Express. Such a cool, unique and fun model that fills a gap in the “1/64” world
hey Lamley, the Cybertruck is in my top 10 favorite new models of ‘21. couldn’t believe the ranking of it.
Another car that was picked for best as well works for me too. The premium Nova gets me back to my childhood. I think that the gto casting would work better stock. The pro stock look my throw people off. The cyber truck for is one of the more interesting designs. I like it. The bugatti is one of the castings i looked forward to the most. Another casting that was not voted in at the top was dodge drift van. For me it allowed me to remember my dad and was the basis a major custom conversion. He worked converting dodge vans into ambulances and he liked tbe job. For me it briings a bit of him back to me seeing he passed away in 2005.

This was a fantastic time. I had a lot of fun in deciding which models to choose in each bout across all the different battles. It was great fun. I have LOVED the RUF CTR Yellowbird since I first looked at the pictures in the Road and Track article as a kid. I had no idea who PARA64 was. I am so glad you included it. The detail in the images looks fantastic and I ordered not only the CTR Yellowbird, but also the CTR2. That car is also very high on my lust worthy garage list.
Your dedication to Ryu was wonderful. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered. I hope you are at peace Ryu. Thank you for sharing your passion with us. I too loved the RS2 and was my favorite of the basic line...An Audi wagon made by Porsche, what is NOT to love. And he hit it out of the park. I cannot wait for a premium and or RLC of it.
As for teh Cybertruck...I just don't like the concept/design of it from Tesla and hence the Hot Wheels casting. They were faithful in its representation, so from that perspective it was good, but It will never sit well with me as a design and I just don't like it. I was very disappointed in the Aston.

I did not vote the Cybertruck as the last place car, but the thing I don't like about is the wheel choice is just too thick and off-roading for the truck. Hot Wheels should do it with some better wheels and it would look good.
Baja truck is pretty lifelike even as another unlicensed version. I’m usually not a big fan of unlicensed stuff;however in this case,not all Baja competitors run factory vehicles.It’s more “real” than you might think.

I too surprisingly voted for that Para64 RUF even though I had no idea it existed before you put up these polls. I still need to get my hands on that one.

Yes! Thank you John! I picked the Nova too and was very surprised it didn’t get more love in the vote. Now…..when will we see it again because I don’t see it in any of the 2022 leaked mixes. I need it in every color. Although I already own a couple of custom versions of it.

I have a feeling that Euro cars will be taking over after the JDM era settles down. That Merc Red Pig was by far my fav casting period this year. I also do not understand the Tesla Cyber Truck ranking.. Since every collector I know hordes that casting like it's the holy grail. I barely found 1 this year. How strange!

The Cybertruck in last place?! I don't get it. It's one of my favourites from 2021. I was so excited when I found one in store. I absolutely love the design and that it does what no one else does. I kind of think the Cybertruck would fit well in a synthwave setting as well. xD
Congratulations to Para64 for the win. I have been rooting for them since the beginning as it is a fantastic casting and they beat Major League players to the punch with this one. It was nerve-wracking to see it beat up competitors in the battle royale but i was almost certain it was going to lose to the Kaido House Datsun, seeing how popular that model has been (even though i personally hate it). I was wrong. It won. It is well deserved. Now, John, go get one :) It is being re-issued in the exact same yellow, so no excuses :)

My favorite HOT WHEELS casting of the year was hands down the Corvette C8R. The new Bugatti was cool , but for once I was disappointed that it didn't get proper tampos in the front. Since there is nothing on the side it just looked too plain without the headlights. I new that Audi was your favorite from the first time you saw it come out of the case. I had the same reaction with the yellow C8R. Great showcase of the years best diecast.
GTO should have been stock. That's why it was selected as Most Disappointing. Sincerely, a former LS1 GTO owner.
I didn't mind the hood, but the 'wheelie bars' were horrible.
Talking about Ryu's designs, one of the 2021 new models I was hyped for, was the Sand Burner (unlic). For me, as a collector of offroad racing vehicles, this model referring to Prodrive Hunter Dakar buggy was such a cool addition. The only thing I'm not satisfied in the first edition is a livery... Hope it will come out in more proper racing liveries, even referring to BRX Team.

Lamley chose a FAST AND FURIOUS for his favorite? Not disagreeing with his choice, but he often harps on F&F. Close race between the Nova and the Red Pig for best of the year for me.

That Nova is gorgeous. I buy like 3 Hot Wheels a year now and that happened to be one of them. It was leftover on the pegs and I was happy to take one home. Beautiful casting and even how it's done. I also picked up a CLK-GTR because its bloody amazing.

The audi is a really top notch casting one of my favourites from last year we are still a few months behind getting cases from October November now lol
4:10 man just look, this is so cool!! I am really happy it is deserved a ‘good rate’ and the all the basics are cool for me, so many good models. EB110, V12 Speedster, GTR LBWK, Land Cruiser, Supra, Audi Avant, F1 and the others are the best real licensed Hotwheels ever made.
We still miss Ryu, he would made many JDM designs if he was alive today. Ryu’s legacy would go on forever!!

The Tesla Cyber Truck. It's a $1.00 Dollar regular line production vehicle. It's a Zamac not to mention that it is in my personal opinion (correct me if I am wrong) an exact replica on the real life version in every aspect including it's wheels, tyres and has an interior! If it was a "Mini GT" or a "Tomica" version how much would that cost? Far more than $1.00 Dollar. I purchased four in it's first "HW's Green Speed" version and four more in it's "HW's Hot Trucks" version. Best value for my money that I ever spent!!

While it's flattering to be referred to as a collector by Lamley, it's worth considering that not all of the audience are avid collectors who have every model featured. Many of us are just casual diecast fans who voted for fun, not because we actually have or have seen the models
As a old scool fan I can’t get into the Tesla truck at all it has no styling but I do have a couple put up

The Audi wagon it's badass wish they do some of the Toyotas of the 70 n 80 s us Hispanic will go crazy about it especially the corollas just like they did the Celica n the E6 trueno the in between those models are great

The Pontiac GTO was a casting I was looking forward to but.. I just don't think it should have been made a drag racer type casting. The original is a very good looking car, and I wasn't a huge fan of the orange either. A nice grey or even a yellow would have been more appreciated.

The baha bouncer used to called bad mudder its supposed to be a licensed model but they fudged up only disappointed because it already existed in mainline back in the 90s
I didnt like the pitted finish of the ZAMAC on the cybertruck. Maybe better in a gun metal grey.
I wish I could get my hands on anything Hotwheel premium around here. They just never seem to be on the shelves anywhere. It's frustrating as hell.
I think I voted for both the most disappointing: the Pontiac GTO because its drag, and the Cyber Truck because I never saw it on the pegs and wish they had produced more and because it looks as if it won't fit on the track.

The pontiac gto was a victim of its color. tho its close to the 1/1 color (the blue was a bit better but still wasn't great) it was just blah and lacked detail and I actually would have had the f1 in my most disappointing the silver was boring and details could have been much better most underrated is the McLaren speedtail when you look at what that car is irl its crazy it was such a peg warmer also the Nissan r390 could be in that same category...my favorite was the Bugatti eb110 tho color and look were just spot on

I think you're talking about a ''70 Camaro and a '65 Mustang from a set of 3 with this toy number: GRN83
They were in a display set called American Muscle. It had 70 Camaro, 70 Challenger, 65 Mustang and a white Retro Rig. It was Walmart exclusive in the U.S.

But yes that cybertruck is a godawful looking thing by any measure, represents all I despise about the automotive world, and to cast it must have been the easiest thing ever if they can combine a triangle onto a rectangle, boom, there's your 'future of cars' . No thanks.

I chose the GTO as the most disappointing just because it’s a drag car. After all these years, they FINALLY added the ‘06 GTO to the hot wheels world but they made it an ugly drag car. I bought three of both colors because I love the car to death but I wish it was just the normal street car in Torrid Red.
I was not in the least interested in the Cyber Truck when I saw it online, but once I held it in my hands the thoughts changed completely. I ended up hoarding a few just because it looked so cool. I like Hot Wheels original casting and it looks like what people call a "fantasy casting", so far from my worst of the year. I forgot what I voted most disappointing because it was so forgettable, but it wasn't either of the two. And for my favorite HW premium was that Transformers style Corvette.
I don't think people like the Cybertruck because fantasy models don't catch on among collectors.
We've raced th McLaren and it's the fastest car of the year.
