MultiCam® Effectiveness PART II

- Опубликовано: 19 дек 2013
- This is PART II of my MultiCam® effectiveness video. In my previous video I tested the pattern in the spring time when the environment was very lush and green. In this video I test the pattern's effectiveness during the fall & winter season, where most of the vegetation has died leaving the environment largely brown and tan. This video includes scenes that show the patterns use when both concealed with and without the use of vegetation in the environment, as well as what the pattern looks like moving and stationary. Hope you enjoy!
If you want to see how effective this pattern is in the spring when it is more vegetated and green in the environment, check out PART I.

For all the effectiveness videos, which are awesome btw, keep in mind: We know he’s somewhere in the image with a very narrow field of view. If you’re just scanning from an OP or patrolling the odds of you seeing or being seen are way lower.
I had a harder time finding it in this video than I did last video. I'm surprised on how well it works in late autumn. Very nice.
Same here. I use Multicam in the early spring when hunting wild turkey. I always thought it might be a little too green because the leaves aren't out on the brush. This video has changed my whole perspective. I will continue to use Multicam in early spring.
I think woodland works better in summer. Multicam spring, fall, and snowless winter
@@bobbyc28081 woodland better eveywhere
Doubt plus multicam does fairly well in summer as well from my experience because I’ve used woodland myself and even though it’s great in the forest it sucks everywhere else to me
Well it might work for you but not for me anyway
Much more difficult to spot you in this 2nd part, but I gotta admit that Multicam is really versatile. Not perfect but pretty good in different environments. Nice work here!
And those are the colors where MC shines !
It's doing the opposite of shining
As Crye stated, not perfect for a particular area but damn good for every area!
That statement is spot on, the versatility of this pattern is amazing.
***** Everything the UCP did wrong, this pattern did right!
Yes I love the jack of all traits approach in warfare because sometimes you don’t know where you are gonna be at and what scenario it is
@@nvgboiyes6386 wow, I was 15 when I posted this comment. Time flies
@@smart00ass00inc not gonna lie I did not notice it was this old
Much better in the fall. I guess the Marines have the right idea having two patterns.
The Army plans on also adopting the Jungle variant and Desert Variant of Multicam in the future. Google them. They are only slightly different, but they work great.
I actually own the Tropical Multicam. It kicks ass in the spring and summer in the woods.
The fact you could just lay still out in the open and be nearly impossible to see in this sort of terrain is impressive. The previous video involved alot more hiding behind bushes instead of the camo doing real work.
This is the best camo test I’ve seen. Bravo!
For everyone saying that they could see him easily, most of that comes from the fact that there is only so much you can do to disguise the flat, untextured surface of a fabric. With a little bit of vegetation or some strips of cammie netting applied in the right spots (shoulders, back, boonie cover), MC would work amazingly.
Eliot Hernandez Or the fact that he’s like 15 feet from the camera, if you don’t see him right away when he’s this close your already dead
MC is crap compared to other non military contracted camos.
I've built a ghille from MC and that about all its useful for. The coloring on it is bright and has little breakup compared to other pre multicam phase Era patterns
@@azimuthreinhall9996 If Multicam is so terrible, how come that nearly everyone who gets to pick his own camo (and is actually going to combat, not larping around in the woods) choses Multicam? All SOF units across the world use Multicam, even when their regular forces stick with green dominant legacy patterns, and Multicam is without a doubt the most common private purchase pattern for soldiers too. Russia effectively switched from their dark green EMR pattern to Multicam when fighting in Ukraine, despite all the obvious IFF issues, so it's not just a question of USA forcing all of NATO to adopt their camo like I sometimes see claimed.
Great vid! I only knew where you were if the tree didn't break up your outline and direct sunlight was on you... But then again I was looking for you. Subbed.
I don't think this camouflage pattern would work well in central Europe, especially in dark and pines forest (Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, East-France) but it would work like a charm in southern Spain (Andalucía) where the colors are going more from tan to red, aside the western part that is really green (Cadiz) or the Sierra Nevada (Alpujara) during winter. I'd love to try it there ! Thanks for the good videos !
This video definitely has me convinced to buy multicam. Thank your for the video and all the effort you put into it. Also thank you for serving.
This is a FAR more effective time of year for multicam. Really impressed.
Just got around watching this. Multi cam is awesome. Perfect for semi dry environment. 👍🏽👍🏽
A satisfactory level of effectiveness. No question.
Indeed!
2:40 I was sure it had you, then you turned out to be the "big rock" i didn't suspect!
After watching all of these again, MultiCam is definitely your best military pattern for fall/winter. It doesn't work as well in a green environment but it still works and that's pretty great that it's that versatile. Keep it up, bro!
Thanks man, the versatility of MultiCam is commendable.
I love your demonstrations and i also love trying to find you in each set. In this video i was able to find you in all but one without pausing and im pretty proud of that lol.
It's pretty neat to see this stuff in action man way to go getting this on film as much as you have well done!
Changed my mind about this pattern after watching both videos. On the first video I spotted it 8 out of 11 times before you moved, the second time 13 out of 16 times before you moved.
4m 40s and 8m 40s were my favourites. To me multicam sticks out like a sore thumb, but I have walked up to people whilst wearing my multicam and they didn't see me until I spoke. I wasn't even trying to be stealthy. Thanks for your videos, my kid and I are learning how to spot various camouflage and your vids are perfect. he/she is very young and can spot me in the forest with multicam, dpm, M90, M84 and real tree. Looking forward to trying German snow camo poncho and multicam.
for those of us in the plains all of that shade is a little off...basically, as long as you don't move you are blending in nicely. I could tell where you might be just by guessing...if any light hit you it was somewhat simple...but, I know what I am looking for. if I were just walking along without a heads up I wouldn't see you. nice job!!! thanks for doing this:)
highonimmi Thanks for watching.
the color just matched so perfectly!!!
Brent your videos are the best on RUclips. Never stop what you do and are doing. I'm a former Marine myself 0311 baby!! Shout out from Florida😎! I show all my buddies at work your motivating videos and they subbed as well. Cpl. Patterson out
Nice set of videos! It really shows of how it works in the environment! Keep up the good work and thanks!
That camo pattern was much more difficult for me to see in this part 2 video.
Spot on for fall and winter , my preferred pattern for this time of year.
Looks great !
Kinda glad I went with a mix of this, od, and coyote up in the midwest. Seems like a perfect climate for it 2/3 of the year.
Thanks for the demonstration video man, really appreciated.
It's a good camo-pattern, for sure. Very versatile. I own some Multicam/Scorpion gear and some British MTP. Anyway I'm living in Central Europe and I've been and still am a huge fan of the British DPM and the French CCE pattern. The "multicam-pattern" that fit my area best is ATACS. The gear that fits my situation best is the Russian Partizan-suit in SS-Leto-pattern.
In drier vegetation the multicam seems to do better. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching.
Holy shit....that's one good fucking patter. So happy the Army adopted it :)
Brent, Do you plan on making a video with the Jungle and Desert variations of Multicam? That'd be awesome.
Not at the moment, they're far too expensive.
Yea. Hopefully that price comes down soon!
Totally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Much better then part one great videos!
Don't think we didn't hear you fart at 2:04 and then squat for another
...lol just kidding :P
Same as my rant it just needs a touch of medium dark brown. This will soak up the light rather than reflecting making you glow instead of blending.
Thank you for these videos, I have been considering multicam for a while now.
No problem man, glad I could help.
Great vid man
Thank you for this additional testing. Good stuff! In your opinion, is A-TACS AU as effective as Multi-Cam?
great videos... enjoyed them. Thanks~!
Honestly the biggest thing this shows is the importance of breaking up the silhouette and managing shine. Almost every time I could easily spot you was when I could see a human shape easily or an unnaturally round shine appearing in the vegetation
Very nice video! Just got a multicam BDU myself. Excited to use it out on the (Airsoft) field.
I've been using Multicam vests, packs and other gear for a while over either a DCU or Woodland BDU set and it seems to enhance both patterns quite well in their respective environments. I know Crye has picked up on this idea with the arid and tropical multicam patterns, but maybe you could test the mulitcam gear + DCU or woodland combo sometime I think you would like it.
works well under shaded areas because well lit places always create straight outlines of the body no matter the camoflauge. spotted you 95% of the time. great video!
Our instructor showed us this video at Basic training in the Russian armed forces. He said because of the popularity of this camo it is easier to recognize even when it's so effective.
It works a lot better now than in the first video, impressive.
Seems like a really good fall pattern. May snag some for the upcoming Bow season.
Look into optifade elevated.
Great video! thank you!
Im new to your channel. I found your channel from airsoftology. Man your awesome dude. Much respect man. Im glad i subbed to you.
Appreciate it brother, welcome aboard!
I think that if you mixed patterns like Greenzone or ATACS FG... and added thing is Multicam like plate carrier and backpack... it would work really nicely pretty much in any time of the year (except winter of course, but its not that hard to get white fabric over your gear.).
Saw you each time in Part 1. Part 2 is definitely doing its job. Seems like fall is its niche
very hard to spot you, i do believe if we don't know you are there noone spots you.
Be carefull next time you go into the woods.. what if Brent is watching you! :)
Nice video. What type of chest rig are you wearing?
spotted u only six times! for the previous and fall-winter those are immediate spots. multi cam definitely works better in fall-winter. great videos thanks!
Thanks
Great videos Sir, Multicam is rather affective.
Good video, with MultiCam you light up like a Christmas tree in direct sunlight....
Hey brother. How does it perform in transitionary environments like Sierra with some green but also grays and browns?
Good stuff. Thumbs up!
+Chris Adams Thanks
Awesome. Good video.
Thanks man.
I find Multicam is an effective all rounder. May not be perfect in every environment but it does work.
Another great video. You could've gotten a lot of money from the multicam manufacturers for this video, but I really appreciate the videos and what you are doing for us. Keep up the great work and be safe out there.
Frankie Gibbs Thanks man.
Hey Brent, I really enjoyed watching your camo vids, thumbs up!
'Did you ever think about testing camouflage effectiveness in an urban environment? I know that most camouflage patterns have been designed for natural terrain. But sometimes, the reality of a military operation forces soldiers to traverse both, natural and urban terrain in one single mission.
I really wonder how e.g. MultiCam is suitable for an urban warfare scenarios. As far as I can see, such videos do not yet exist on youtube.
karlkoxx I really don't have a place to conduct such videos. Most urban patterns are just for looks anyways. I think you're better off just wearing civilian attire if you're in an urban setting. UCP might actually be a decent "urban" pattern though.
3:25 sounded like velociraptors lmao
Would like to see the same video with asat camo ,all season all terrain... game changer
Nice job. Muticam seems to work best in shadow, in direct sulight its easy to pick you out.
I spotted you right off the bat about 60% of the time. That's disturbing because I'm heavily invested in this pattern. most all my newer gear is multicam.
So I learned that in fall/winter in the woods wearing multicam you become a ghost, pretty much. Nice video and thanks for the hard work.
I really expected it to do well here, nice.
Where did you buy it off of? I’ve been looking for a good set
Such an impressive camouflage
Impressive!
Like your videos a lot . Their a great help. What's a good place to purchase camo from. Where do you get some of your camo. I live in the hills of Kentucky . A ways from a big town. Thanks
Thanks man, these are the three major sites I usually buy things from.
BDU.com

Sportsmansguide

Barre Army Navy

This is the perfect environment for this camo.
Very surprised. I had more difficulty with the desert pattern. Also the lack of foliage is a problem for highlights/shine, outlining, and contrast with the background no less to address color(s) conformity. Thanks for the follow-up vid! Do you have any ghillie suits? Semper Fi!
Yes I do, I’ve made a few. I feature the blouse and boonie of two that I made in this video: Camouflaging yourself, individual gear and equipment
Multicam rocks!
Yup, the varsity of it is impressive. The pattern might not be the best in all but certainly has a satisfactory level of effectiveness in each.
You've got some great videos brother, I just subscribed to you. Have you heard of tactical concealment? Anyhow keep up the good work.
Thanks man, no I haven’t heard of them but I’ll look into it.
Thanks for making these videos, Not easy to setup, edit, and you take the time to do this, great Job and very effective,
+s zarella Thanks brother, I appreciate it.
+Brent0331 and we appreciate your service to our country!!!!
Appreciate it bud. Stay tuned I'll be having more to come in the next few months. I have a few ideas dancing around in my brain housing group right now.
It really seems to reflect light it does well in shaded ares but anytime light hits that patter its almost as if you have a flashlight beaming down on you. Good video it definitely shows me how to use this camouflage pattern thanks.
+EMT MORTENSEN Thanks for watching.
I have invested in multicam and black tactical gear, I will be multicaming the 2nd set of all my 5 main weapons systems, then 3 of my secondary systems, I think it works great.
In the other video where the vegatation was alive and lush, it was much easier to spot this multicam. But with all the vegatation now cold and withered, this pattern does amazing.
Where did you get that camo set? And how much was the cost? I myself use camo for airsoft and other things, I really like the set, however every time I order it comes in a different tone, for example the jacket is lighter than the pants, etc.
Mostly Ebay.
In part one it was really easy. Now I saw u 90% of the time, but if u don't search for anyone particular u won't find anyone.
To be honest I never liked it to much, I don't know but this camo is really popular in usages. Because of the fact it's practical of the fact that it fits in many location exept a few. Thank you for your videos
MultiCam seems to be very effective in that terrain. I couldn't see you most of the time in this video compared to most others patterns.
I found the answer to my previous question, looks like you a have covered alot of that subject.
The Camo works Good, and a bit more too
How would this pattern work in South West Missouri VS a pattern like US Woodland
Just watched both videos on the multicam, it's fairly impressive (though I did see you sillouette yourself a few times in there, shame...) Even when I could point you out though, it did a good job of reflecting your surrounding colors to the camera, and generally blending you into the environment. Also, taking into consideration that in a real combat zone you would be unlikely to end up that close to enemy eyes, it does its job nicely.
I guess it's only fair to test sillouetting too though (for the blend test, like you said in the instructions, if I had actually read them before commenting.)
Hello Brent. He it in on the market a motive says CAMOGROM who seems very close to the MULTICAM and who is marketed by Hékikon Tex. What do you think of can that her be a good option in the MULTICAM because being much cheaper? All the best.
Thank you.
P.S: please excuse my approximate English.
modelmaker78 Looks the exact same to me. If you're happy with it I'd say get it.
splendid work~! I thought that was rock with mossy green but it's your head with hat... on first testing part.
great overall camo
I find the pattern very good. But your skills to hide can improve. I recomend you the book "Principles Of Natural Camouflage: The Art of Invisibility". It's short, but it has amazing info! tks!
when multicam matches the colors perfectly like this it is great... but the same applies for all camouflage. wherever it doesnt match colors (desert, rocky, urban, snow, etc) it is really is easy to spot.
I have a field behind my house that has a lot of tan, dry grass, and brown dead stuff. It's a creek but also has some green long grass. Would 3 color desert/ Digital desert Marpat with a mixture of Woodland/ Digital woodland Marpat work for that environment, there's no trees but there is green, tan, and brown?
I don't see why not, many of the desert patterns are effective in fall/winter environments due to the prominent color being the tans and browns during those times of the year. I've got several videos on desert patterns during the fall/winter posted on my channel, check them out.
Hey do you think you can do a vid on multicam tropic?
I don't have any at the moment, I probably won't be able to get around to it.
still like to see full coyote always great eye training though hey try going back to the woodland for the halibut
Brent could you do a multicam effectivnes in the winter time. In snow if possible. Exelent videos btw.
I would if I could. Here in North Texas it rarely snows. We didn't get any snow last year, I still have some hope for this year.
Perhaps one of the best all rounders in camo (MTP) especially the ability to conceal when direct light hits you , and in the shadows.
German flecktarn seems dated when compared with MTP , although good in its day , as also was DPM (my old camo) but this MTP is arguably well out in front of all the rest.
getting the face hands and neck matching will be interesting , lol , the old days was one colour (dark brown) , broken outline applied , and mud if you didn't have that on hand ..
Great video and a camo to trust in , after all , good concealment is life or death .
It is an excellent pattern and the versatility is definitely is best attribute. Thanks for your comment.
nice way to train the eyes. Thanks
HaitoTrece Glad you enjoyed.
The first scene in which you hide I spot you every time, any of the others though, you where invisible. I usemulticam when I hunt, hike, airsoft...Its just a very effective camouflage that works pretty well in everything...
Where's mofuggn waldo haha
Love your camo effectiveness vids.
Cheers
Thanks man.
I found it very effective in this terrain...
