A video I threw together super fast so there may be some mistakes. Hard to manage time between two channels🙂 In this video I talk about Actual weight of the bag, sizing, treated down vs untreated down, and quilt/ bag warmth theory. And why I chose this bag over any other bag/quilt. Hope this video helps.

    To sum western mountaineering up...
They UNDERSELL themselves in every aspect ....they list 850... but it's really over 900 lol....
When everyone else lists the minimum they can do......that's where western is just getting started 👍

This is legit one of the best reviews I’ve ever seen. This dude really knows his stuff and you can tell he appreciates good design. Also loves the stuff. Thanks!

Wow. What an incredible review. This is how they should be done. You have set the standard of what I expect from RUclipsrs going forward. Seriously this should be used as an example of how to do this.

My experience with WM (Aplinelite and Antelope MF) is that they are world class bags that deliver more performance than they promise. Do they have the latest cell phone pockets or other gizmos? No. What they have is a perfectly designed impeccably executed bag made from the highest quality materials you can find, anywhere. I trust them completely.

This video should be watched by anyone looking at buying a sleeping bag. The reviewer goes over in detail on the WM Antelope MF; but much of the information shared is applicable to down bags and design in general. Subscribed to the channel. Hoping the channel does a review of quilts.

Thank you for this thorough first exepressions review of your new sleepingbag. :-) I recently bought the Kodiak MF myself and it took me quite a while to decide on which bag to get. With your video I feel even more sure about my choice. I was close to getting the Marmot Lithium untill i saw some comments stating that they have removed the draft collars on the recent models. I went with the kodiak because it is a little bigger and as a big guy it fits me perfectly. I will definitely subscribe to your channel. Have a great day.

I have a marmot never summer, a more budget friendly bag, and it does great down to its temperature rating (0 degrees f). One of the reasons i think this bag is well suited to below 0. Of course this also depends on how you sleep and whatnot. Western mountaineering is on another level than all the other companies other than feather friends in my opinion. Im looking forward to using it😀 Thanks for the comment and the sub! It's definitely appreciated 👍👍👊

Very solid review and you are absolutely right about getting a proper sized bag. I bought the Puma GWS and I got the long bag, because of what you stated, you need that extra room and you don't want to push your feet to the bags bottom and compress the down. Many reviewers miss this important point. Again, good job.

Agreed on all point! (Great review!) My Marmot Helium’s “baffles” were non-existent! I carry a MF Kodiak overstuffed now and a WM Megalite in the summer. I lived and learned the hard way....you don’t need to!! 👍🇺🇸👍

I've never owned a WM bag (being from europe, all the import duties and stuff) and didn't see one yet, but I own 2 Cumulus bags. One for 3 seasons (my first bag), and another winter one which I've bought after making a mistake and buying another winter bag from another well known premium brand (won't say the name)... Needless to say, I was utterly disappointed when I noticed that the loft of the "premium brand winter bag" was equal to my Cumulus for three seasons, lol... Costliest mistake of my life so far. Had to get a winter bag from Cumulus to fix my mistake. The amount of loft is simply much higher, and the design too. Moral of the story: yes, some brands really make much better bags than other, even if they claim the same temperature rating. Look for the details, like baffle design and loft, that's the key.

I have the long version. And an Ultralite medium. Have slept in them down to their given limit comfortably. And in them both combined with an insulated fjellduken to -31F/-35C. It felt like it could have gone even further down

Been researching the western mountaineering bags with no luck on a question. Your about the same size and weight as I am, and I hate the thought of a bag wrapping me up tight with no wiggle room. especially in foot box area. I am a side sleeper as well. The antelope is an expensive bag so I sure don't want any regrets

Yep , also a guy that works outside all year long......glad to say I also tried the western mountaineering koolaid and I'm sold......for I think life lol
    ..although I will admit.....
I didn't think it would be as warm as it was and I got the -10(in Ak) for winter camping it's a monster!......
Tested at -13f and was way too warm just sleeping outside on 2" rigid foam board ...in just my base layer and a balclava .....
So I have added the terralight to cover the other 3 and some light winter outings........ 25degrees to 18 on the lower end..... fully opening foot box to make it a quilt in hot weather!.......
I will say camping at minus13 nothing I could figure out would keep my NOSE warm through the balclava hole lol

I selected the WM Antelope (5ºF) with Gore Windstopper outer instead of the Microfiber outer which has a 2,000 Hydrostatic Pressure rating.
GWS outer has a 12,000 Hydrostatic Pressure rating. This outer will not absorb moisture/water.
Huge thank you to another youtuber, Al Linsdau whose video clearly showed the differences between Microfiber & Gore Windstoper outer fabrics.
WM uses YKK COIL zippers - no teeth to snag.
    Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

Nice video and review. Bought a WM Ponderosa years ago. Great bag but does not have the collar and i miss that. Now looking at another WM bag, prob the bristlecone. Wondering if you think getting the bag overfilled is worth it. Doesnt cost too much i think.

Looks plush! Why did you pick MF instead of GWS fabric? I have a dilemma and would appreciate to hear what were your reasons. Basically both of them are a bit of compromise. One with breathability and the other with waterproofness. Questions is which one is a bigger problem.

The Western Mountaineering Antelope is available in both a micro-fibre cover and Gore Windstopper cover. What are the trade-offs apart from tear strength and weight? The Windstopper being stronger but heavier than the MF. Is one more breathable than the other? Is that important?

Hey man, spectacular review! I wish you would review ALL of their gear and help us out when choosing. First time hiker here, never slept in a tent and about to choose my first sleeping bag. Huge dilemma: Kodiak MF or Lynx. Average temperatures where I plan to camp are -5C all the way to -15C. That's average, so basically, sometime it can go even lower... tent is Hilleberg Allak and the pad will be Thermarest XTherm. Any ideas which one to go for? :) Cheers

Hard to say. Would depend on how warm or cold you sleep. For me personally I usually never regret taking something too warm in the winter.🙂 Thanks my friend!

Hi! Please the temps are you talking about are in F or Celsius
And more inportant kind of "comfort rate" or "limit of comfort"?
Im looking a solid 0F comfort sleeping bag and at least -9F limit comfort so dont know this one its great choice?
And you will say the outer its more than a DWR treatment? I will like just a bit more water and condensation repellent than a DWR.
Thanks a lot for the help
    Cheers

Hi my friend, I have a Versalite sleeping bag model from WM, I have a question, is the Versalite sleeping bag model lower or higher than this Antelope MF model sleeping bag from the video? I mean in quantity of feathers, comfort, temperature, grateful for the answer, strong hug. Already subscribed to your channel.

@@shottowerproductions283 I meant more along the lines of something like, I chose this bag because I plan to go to these types of places, in this and that state, to hike these mountains, or to this type of activity, in such and such season where I know temperatures get this cold because I've been there before or because I've talked to people or because I've looked at temperature charts or because I've read about it, etc.
