due to your antics on pouring capabilities i now find myself long range pouring my coffee in the morning
I have started doing the long range poring for everything now it's just so satisfying lol
"Sniper: Ghost Pourer" 😂
Love the choice of classical background music in this series. Takes me back to old school manual machining vidjayos with AvE!
Same, also ray is a maestro in how he operates.
Moonlight Sonata
The fact that you take care to clean up the inside of the oil pan and some other things like replacing the oil pick-up tube Oring is a plus. A lot of mechanics would not take the time. Good job.
Whyvwouldnt someone do that?
Oh thats right. Can't see it from my house.
I've choked peaople For saying that shit around me.
Have some self Respect yah?
No, i have literaly walked off jobs for that attitude by a boss
All real mechanics/technicians do things the right way.there are a lot of people that simply replace parts for money, those people are parts replacers, parts replacers have the most boomerangs
ray,is an exception. usually, they do minimal of whats needed. &, dont report any other issues.. keeps the industry in work..
I agree. These days, most techs don't do something thoroughly. He could've just through it in the parts washer and changed the gasket, but he even changed the o-ring that was not in the original scope. I really appreciate his work.
@@jerryhatrick5860 no. No you haven't choked anyone. Stop telling internet stories.
It’s nice seeing owners that want to keep their vehicles on the road
You really have to these days, new trucks and SUVs cost a fortune. And they aren’t made as good as they used to be.
I love these back to back to back videos published at the same time.
After watching hours of your work on video, I have a better appreciation for auto mechanics! It's not that I had a low opinion--I just never really considered it. It's just I never really knew and understood what a skill and an art it is to do what mechanics do. I hope there are lots and lots of mechanics that have ethics like those you demonstrate. Peace, good health, and good fortune!
I've been using the same shop for 25 years, the owners are super conscientious. Car owners ship their cars from Asia, Europe, and South America to have these men work on them. Mechanical restorations are their specialty, and when I'm at their shop it's always a treat to see what they're working.
Ray if you were by me, I would never lift a wrench again. How you go the extra mile, knowing what is going to fail next and fixing it, is priceless. The oil pickup O ring in particular.
I'm planning on doing that exact same o-ring this summer. Not looking forward to it, but I do have the advantage of no 4 wheel drive to deal with :D
I love the classical music you play during these videos! I have an '01 suburban, same engine size. I feel like I'm learning a lot about my vehicle and others. (I also have an '02 pt cruiser, '97 dodge caravan, and a '79 mg midget. There's not many videos that help with the midget. Lol.) Thanks for sharing your videos! I look forward to watching them every morning when i wake up.
Your customers are fortunate to have a top tier Automotive Repair Technician like you to address their issues
I really appreciate you Ray. You show that not all mechanics are not scum and schemers. How you took the time to take care of all of the little things on this job vs just changing the gasket really shows that you care.
I also love that you don't bash brands. They ALL come with unique situations that will require repair.
Thank you again for your content.
You are literally saving the poor AND the well-to-do money and heartache from slime balls that call themselves " mechanics ".
YOU are a true HERO to your profession!
Thank you and God bless.✌️
So nice to attention to detail. My Dad was a mechanic for 40 years, and he was the same way. Good on you.
The music is a nice touch. I’ve never felt so soothed whilst a oil pan goes to the spa. Nice work!
Wow! 251K subs! Way to go, Ray! I think you are a wonderful person, and you are a shining example of what a Mechanic should be! As a Mechanic of over 35 years, I am proud to have you in the trade! o7
These videos you come out with are very educational, i’m a mechanic myself, and i feel from watching your videos i’m learning even more about different components of different vehicles. Your doing an amazing job with the videos definitely keep up the good work, and your videos are appreciated by myself hopefully as well by others….👍😊
Must be nice to work on cars with no rust everything comes out nice and easy and no broken bolts. An SUV was well taken care of. Great video Ray.
You must also be a technician in the great white north?
We're hard on cars up here.
You can keep ur northern cars up north lol. All the videos i see from cars up north always rusted to shit.
Pfft, anything can come apart with a big enough tool!
@@cujoedaman yes along with some damage
Love this job, and appreciate you uploading all at once.
You’re absolutely crushing it on the platform Ray as a fellow content creator bravo keep up the great work
This may sound small, but the way you thoroughly cleaned off that oil pan says so much to me about the pride you take in your work. That, my friend, is the hall mark of a great mechanic. Nothing like seeing a shiny underside when you get your truck out the shop. Kudos to you dear sir.
I would love to be the owner of this vehicle just to be able to watch the videos of the care and attention that Ray has given to this customers car 👍
That vehicle is clean and well worth the maintenance. I would love to have one like it, and rather spend the money on it than “upgrade.”
Actually these videos can serve as enhanced service history documentation for the customer. When selling a vehicle I would love to be able to show that someone with Ray's attention to detail was the one who worked on it.
Best video of your series for DIYers' minor repairs. Lots of secret sauce on the oil pan reinstall which keeps us out of trouble. Uptwinkles for Ray.
Your expert knowledge makes things look so easy to do.
Ray you always take care with every job you do. Your customers are very lucky to have you as a mechanic. 😀🇨🇦
Love the way Ray explains things when he works on different vehicles
Part 1 has a lot of work still to do.
Part 2 also is a sizable job and you make it look so easily done.
Enjoyed watching these episodes going to 3 & 4
Keep em coming.
I can't help but watch tomorrows video today, I'll dip into the Rainman Archives to get my fix tomorrow...Nice job...
Phenomenally educational videos by a superbly talented technician. Thanks.
Enjoying the music in the fast speed. Good work as usual. I'm learning a lot.
I really dig the classical music during the high speed sections. It surely adds some class!!
Watching something like the oil pan with music being cleaned is just so satisfying Ray @9:01 @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Man! I used to live right by your shop! Unfortunately I live in Michigan now. I really need this done on my truck 🥺 I really appreciate the care and thoroughness of your work!
I love watching you work. You are a highly educated man, I can tell that you could probably have done some medical career, but chose to fix cars rather than people. Mechanic is a smart man's profession because you need to think ahead and use all of your experience to solve the 100 simple problems you have on each job... I am like you. I am a health professional and can't wait for the weekends to get under my vehicles and mechanical toys. Party on Ray!
as someone that got their degree in music I am appreciating your choice of background music in this series of videos.
Background music triggered a memory of growlingsidewinder's YT channel, when he does the Tacview debriefs. Great calm 'thinking' sounds.
It's so good to watch your work, I'm gaining so much more appreciation for your trade.
You must of read my mind. I thought you would have put the new suspension parts before changing the oil pan gasket. Good job on your part and have a greatday.
The light classical was a NICE touch! Thank you 🙏.
VERY smart on changing the o ring. Professional cleaning the oil sump too. Definitely taking pride in your work. That’s an issue on these trucks most don’t know about. It’s the red o ring btw. There’s two bolt holes but factory only uses one. You can order a billet girdle and it supports the o ring much better. Torqued to 106” lbs.
Sonata No. 14 while parts cleaning love it. I will try it next time.
Beethoven! Always a winner when I work on my Harley. Very soothing and contrasts the frustration that creeps up when working on machines!
Part 2 "CLICK" from uk👋 talking about oil mess was it one of your colleagues that blew the oil drainer apart emptying it when open air valve blew top clean off😂😂👀😂😂 if not a seen somewhere and it was nearly funny lol shared with anyway👍 and of you posted 20 hour upload ad watch it all!!! Yhanks for cleaning dot of oil off the cam I kept wiping right eye 😉
Dont comment often on youtube.
Came across your channel few months ago and subbed.
Awesome channel dude 👍
Havent worked on motors since my 20s (many moons ago)
Really good video on the oil pan, doing mine pan in the morning thanks
After watching a whole lot of your videos, I find myself asking who in their right mind would fire you and why? But having seen your videos in your new shop I'd have to say that it was for the best. God bless and wishing you much success at your new shop. 😁😁🙌🙌
appreciate the non head banging music that some seem to think is de rigueur -also reflects in their work
I feel like I can drink a beer or two with whoever was in charge of music today in your shop.
Indeed, my wife was even singing along to the music today. 😀
glad to know that LINS in the description were there
The thing that amazes me is that I have socks that are older than you. I really think you may have been a child prodigy! I'm mechanically inclined myself, but some of the stuff you come up with is downright genius!!
Hey Ray, I like your videos. I have been learning so much about more modern vehicles from you. Thank you. P.S. I also like your choice of classical music for your high speed segments. Guy Franks
Congratulations on a quarter million subscribers Ray!
Really loving the classical music !
This is what happens when you use pennzoil in your vehicle. Thank you for your great video.
Ray, When I sold my 2004 Suburban (I shouldn't have) it had 138000 on it and still didn't leak a drop of oil. Never even had to do a brake job on it. GOOD automobile. Sad to say the new ones aren't built near as well.
I've done my own work on my cars (and both sister's cars) for years, I wish I knew why watching these videos are so addictive.
I learned something again. Thank you. the item specific ? the four little gaps between the front part pan and the rear part of the pan. thanks
Very good work I like your honesty I would take my daughter’s car to you. And I work on my own stuff. From one mechanic to another rock on bro.
Love the classic vibes!
I'm from Wisconsin and I'm always amazed on how clean the underneath of these shit boxes are
For some reason, I just want to watch you clean things to Beethoven all day long. Definitely my favourite moment.
im surprised you dont have surface cutter to cut those rivets of. and i appreciate your wprk and attention you have fpr it.ive been retired for quite a few years and remember that in the years we had to burn out the pest tube with the torche when we did pan gaskets.
Top Job Ray well done
Love the classical music, brilliant!
Excellent choice of music.
Beethoven, one of my faves
I love your background music on both #1 & #2 video, hope you have same kind on #3.
Ray, that one was no less than a brilliant explanation. And I see you've also raised the bar as far as lighting and video resolution. Wow, 2160p!
Every time Ray puts a dab of silicon on the transition seam between the gasket surfaces, I hear "A little dab will do ya" in my head. It's programmed into my brain from the Brylcreem commercials way back in the 1960's. Yes, I'm that old.
Love the music-very therapeutic
I have come to the conclusion that Ray has shares in the brake company.👍
I've noticed that Ray works on customer cars like he would work on his wife's car. attention to detail and replacing stuff when he was into a certain point whether it was bad or not. Of course if the customer approves of the repair.
When I work on my wife's car,I try to think of some way that it can explode, and that I won't get in trouble.😄😄😄😄
@@johnshaddick6858 No cutting brake lines now that is the first thing they check lol
Sure wish you were wrenching near Nashville Tn. !
Next time I do an oil pan imma pull all the front suspension. Man make the job so much easier..
You guys have great taste in music.
I love your choice of music.
It's always so strange to me to see how little rust there is. Living here in Ohio, the Salt belt, everything is always thick with rust. I like the way you work, no-nonsense wrenching.
Dang I want a Florida car. Rust belt sucks.
True but have you seen some of the Florida cars that live near the beach? Never mind those driven in salt water then put away wet...
A mechanic that does things like they are his. Great video
you would be wrong ray...we would love to watch 20hr long videos of yours!
Nice music selection in the shop today!
love the ray sayings 11/10
The brake cleaner Gods are smiling again! Lol I can’t quit watching, great content Ray!
13:18 sorry to correct, but not doing so - will NOT suck - just little joke.
You're amazing, really appreciate your hard work!!
Just the other day I pulled out the break clean for a squirt. Next thing I find myself saying, NICE AND SHINY!!!
awesome music score when hitting warp speed in the vid :)
Hope you can go into depth when installing the torsion bars would like to know more about them for the near future, thank you very much for the videos, you have not disappointed me or several others
Well done. You are like me. I can't reassemble anything without cleaning and replacing those little things like the o rings. My mind just won't let. Maddening sometimes. I don't care about the extra time it takes.
My rule is that unless a part is cheap and easy to get to, when you open up something you replace everything you just gained access to (within reason of course). If you don't "Murphy's Law" will be invoked and you'll be taking it all apart soon thereafter to replace something you left behind the first time. It's a mistake you'll only make once, trust me for I know, having learned it the hard way.
I have to replace a lot of the front end parts on my 96 Chevy Silverado like you did on that suburban
Impressed the riveted oil pan gasket was still there usaly they leak like a siv at 100k miles @Rainman Ray's Repairs
Great episode
Was surprised to hear Beethoven during your video, Nice touch.
Surprisingly when I bought my 05 tahoe it was listed at 3600 because it had a oil pressure issue. The solution, a $0.55 oil pick up oring. had to do a oil pan gasket but still lol Now it's going strong at 236000.
Howdy howdy from Tucson
You always tell us this, but no one ever says it to you so I will: Don't forget to Have a Great Day!
I think that varnish/sludge inside is caused by not changing the oil. Not sure, but I was surprised to that much.
Thanks for the video my friend, "Click"
Btw you are refreshing my memory.
Another excellent choice! Ole Symphony No. 5 by my boy Ludwig. In my music class, we used to call him Wiggy Von B. or just Wiggie for short. That's a faster version of No. 5 than I'm used to. I kinda like it. And then another Wiggie classic, sonata No. 14 more commonly known as Moonlight Sonata. I can play MS on piano, guitar, and cello.
Really must be nice working on such a rust free frame!! required Tool equipment list is OXY & acetylene torch here in Northern IL
Perfect preventative maintenance, good for another few years.
Is Ray the only tech at that shop who's doing this depth of work? He's very good.
Hey I like the music you used to speed up the video, nice classic piece
Omg Ray I can change the oil pan gasket on my 2001 Silverado now 😬😬😬 i need to rebuild the front end as well too
Love the classical music.
Moonlight sonata. Best song for washing pans. Legend.
You can cause a rear main seal leak by bolting to the transmission before the rear main seal cover because it will pull on it down instead the pan up to the cover.
