I have an 03 5.3 Yukon. My leak was at the oil cooler block off plate. I replaced the gasket on it two times and torqued to spec. Still leaked. Flat sanded the plate to make sure it was flat. I then replaced the gasket the third time with a home made gasket with rubberized gasket material. No more leak. I think the paper thin gasket that is stock is Teflon and useless. Yours obviously is up higher and I am sure I will be heading that way in he future. lol. Great info sir and keep up the great videos.

Well at least the crank sensor o-ring was responsible for a majority of the leakage there. Gotta love multiple leaks! Never fails!
I didn't even know that's where they put the crank sensors these days. Last one I worked on was a '96 - still the tried and true 5.7 / 350, with the sensor up front, behind the crank pulley. I don't remember seeing a sensor there when I pulled my starter in my '07 5.3 to do the transmission - I'll have to look back at the footage. GM loves to constantly change things!
My first day at my new job begins on Monday. Back to the real world of corporate life and commuting, lol. Wish me luck! :) I'll still tinker around in the shop on small stuff here and there. I'll never not have grease under my nails, so long as I'm able.

Not sure if you fixed it yet. But I have been watching videos to try and find where my leak on my 04 Escalade 6.0 245,000 miles is coming from. Drips about a quart a week. I used dye and checked the bell housing inspection cover and didn't see anything in there. But it was dyed on both sides of the motor. Dripping off the starter bolts, bell housing bolts and oil filter. So 2 weeks ago I did the valve cover gaskets and didn't notice any improvement. The old gaskets looked like they have been replaced (we bought the truck a year ago). Last weekend I pulled the intake off and the 2 bolts in the rear of the valley pan were barley finger tight. Pulled the valley pan off and the gasket was flat as a pancake with oil all over the mating surfaces, I was assuming oil is passing if the mating surfaces were soaked with oil and the cylinder heads are coated in wet crusty oil. I only have about 20 miles on it so far but the leak has slowed down (I don't want to say it stopped just yet). I am hoping it is just residual oil that is leaking. The whole underside of the truck undercoated in 5w30 ( and glows in black light due to the oil dye). Good luck with yours. Thanks for the video!!

(ha ha) I do miss the Jeep a little but so far the Yukon has been pretty good. I'm enjoying the extra room and power. I'll figure this out one day. Glad you're back from your travels and hopefully your planning the next one soon. I'm working on a new spot for camping real close to home. It will have a great view and Doris will cook for us!

The view doesn’t matter if Doris is cooking 😃😃😃

@@SuperwheelieOverland That's funny. I told her I wanted to invite you back again and she said "Just let me know when so I can plan a meal".

The oil pan gasket was also leaking so I had that replaced as well. But I still have a leak coming from the rear main seal. Lots of leaks on this one. Thank you for following up.

Its ridiculous that you cant buy the correct o ring without having to buy the sensor.

It's crazy right? I still need to go to the parts store to see if they might have a slightly larger ring, but I hate doing a job twice...but I hate oil leaks worse. Thank you for hanging around Ed.

I hate dealing with oil leaks! I don’t envy that task Wyatt. I hope you find it and it’s an easy fix 🫣❤️

Bless you Niamh. You know the frustrations of an oil leak. I'm lucky to have a lift but it's getting harder and harder to work on these issues. I'm old, fat and my knees hurt. (ha ha)

@@wyattoneable I’d love a lift! 🤗 I’d love a garage 😂 Think of me this week when I’m out in the cold on the driveway changing inner and outer tie rods 🤦🏼‍♀️

@@TheCowgirlNiamh My heart goes out to you. I worked many years from a sheet of cardboard and in the rain or cold. That's never any fun so yes, I'll be thinking of you! I loved your clock video by the way. Two girls having a very good time. :)
