    Man like my son did he got a 5.3 from a junker pulled it out and all apart resealed everything over time and extra money gave him experience lapping valves and shit like that. Redid all the gaskets and new exaust bolts and basically everything so when the current engine he has quits or gets real bad hes got a backup in the garage on a engine stand ready to throw in. Only problem is these things just don't quit! They are good engines and will run broken in many places. its just way easier to have the engine out for a reseal cuz its a battle otherwise.

      I like your style. Everytime I see one I want to collect them as backups. They are fun to reseal when they are out. You never really know the condition when you get one used lol. He sounds like me.

      You're welcome. It's always a couple of seals/gaskets once they get old they all seem to leak! That oil cooler block off plate is easy though.

      @Anthony-du3he Check your oil pressure senser. Mine is leaking pretty bad. If you have oil on top of the transmission case that might be why.

    Thanks Matt. Great video with lots of info. I've suffered almost all of these leaks. One of the most annoying ones is the 4L60e to transfer case. It can leak! And if your seal is truly fucked, the transmission can pump fluid into the transfer case!

    • @MattsShop
      @MattsShop  5 месяцев назад +1

      You're welcome! I know those 4x4s can have a lot more leaks. The transfer cases on these trucks seem to give people a lot of problems!

    Matt, actually the trans lines going into the radiator go Into the trans fluid heater, it's a small core designed to heat the transmission fluid on cold days.
    You can get a trans cooler off of the GM 2500 series. Your truck has the bolt on adaptor in front of the radiator. The best way to change everything you mentioned is pull the engine.
    You can change to oil pump pickup tube O-ring, the rear block plate gasket, and the rear main seal, easier, if the engine is out in the open. I'd change anything that's hard to get to.
    My 5.3 has over 420K miles, and runs as strong as the day I bought it new. Mobile 1. . 10w30. Mobile 1 trans fluid. I use Amsoil rear end gear oil. and AC Delco transfer case oil
    Part number #10-4017, you can get O'Reilly's to order it for you. 👍

    Ive got an 8.1 in my truck. Its burning off oil on the passenger side manifold and also drips a bit of oil. I think its somewhere near the top of the engine but cant locate it.

      Works on steering pumps, that’s where I 1st used it, put in the oil, brake fluid IS oil.
