Love Ohtani. But for my money, a superior individual game performance by another Dodger happened on May 23, 2002. Shawn Green went 6-6 with 4 HR, 1 2B, and 19 total bases (versus 17 by Ohtani). Green also played a pretty slick right field. Edit: Forgot to mention that Green's 19 total bases are the ALL-TIME major league record for a single game.
@@GM-gc8gg I loved Shawn Green as well. What I meant was in today’s current day of baseball, I think Ohtani will hold the throne as the greatest performance ever by a player. The fact that he did it while achieving the milestone just has a special ring to it.
If that one double had become a triple, then this would literally have been the best game ever by a single player. It's absolutely insane how I'm looking at a 6/6 game with 3 HRs and thinking "so close".
@MarauderYo No... Can not do this on MLB THE SHOW. I just like how his home runs just got out so fast (113mph exit volecity)lol. To be honest, I can't wait for the playoffs.
Hi@ Ianjohnson3987 • 10h ago, Congratulations to Shohei Ohtani on hitting 51-51 & making baseball ⚾️ history. Tie with Seattle Mariners player with #51?

@@MMuraseofSandvich, yeah, me too as a kid, while I rode down my town's streets during the summer months hearing every fourth house's garage blasting the game. 😝
As amazing as this game is, it's still not the best game of all time as that still belongs to Greene who had a ridiculous 19 total bases, 6-6 with four dongs.
So INCREDIBLE!!! I cant say how awesome it is to be alive and watching Shohei do what he is doing. The greatest day for a player in baseball history. And to also do something nobody has EVER done before....Astounding!!!
@@bman99ss pretty sure most HR records include at least one hit off a position player, just as all pitchers inevitably have a few Ks that were simply bad calls in their favor
@r7calvin I'm referring to the stat line for that specific game: 3 homeruns, 10 RBI. Not quite as impressive when one of those homeruns and three of those runs batted in were against a position player.
In the top of the 9th inning, didn't think Ohtani would have another at bat but the amazing Dodgers stringed 8 continuous 2-out hits/walks impressive to keep the rally alive, crazy.
And people have been piling on CT3 because of his slumping this year, mainly because of injuries, and dude comes up huge in the 9th to give Ohtani one last chance!

History indeed. In a game which has seen almost everything this is something added to the list of feats which were thought unreal. I hope they win the WS this year. They deserve it.
Shohei is on a level that not many players in the history of the sport have reached. Not even Mookie who's one of the best players in the game today is close to him. Also, he's doing it the old fashioned way, no 'roids needed.
Shohei almost had a cycle too Greatest individual offensive performance ive ever seen in baseball. He couldn't pitch this year so he worked on what ge could control. May never see this again if he's part of the rotation next year. Let's see how he perdorms in the playoffs
Shohei Ohtani went 6/6 with 3 HR, 2 2B, 4 R, 10 RBI, 2 SB. First player in modern MLB history (since 1901) to have 3 HR and 2 SB. Set the Dodger single season records for HR and XBH. Also became the first to ever go 50/50, and I believe he did it in fewer games than Canseco took to be the first 40/40 guy. Oh and on the same day that the Dodgers clinched, and exactly a year to the day since Ohtani had elbow surgery.
I remember some people said, he is not worth 700 million. Guess what, he just proved it that he is worth every penny and plus more. Congratulations to Shohei Otani.
Respect to Marlins for not walking him.
Seriously, Ohtani could’ve had possibly more SB and HR if the rest of teams wouldn’t walk him as much.
They know Betts will clean up
Pitchers are trying too hard to throw him out stealing giving Ohtani the 3rd base due to wild pitch, that lessens his SB opportunity.
Skip said he has too much respect to walk him in that moment

10 RBI is just crazy! with 6-6 and 3 HRs! Mind-blowing🤯
and 2 stolen bases!
That last homerun was hit against a position player instead of a real pitcher. So that's a stat line with an asterisk as far as I'm concerned.
