New Edition - Home Again Tour LIVE In Memphis 1997 (Very RARE!)

AT LAST! New Edition is Home Again!.....well, not quite.
New Edition's "Home Again Tour" LIVE from Elvis Presley's former stumping ground, the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN! The infamously ill-fated "Home Again Tour" would serve as the group's last tour for years as tensions grew worse than ever for the group. There were very few rehearsals for this tour, and each act would essentially improvise nightly (if they showed up at all). All leading up to the most violent night in NE's history that would change the supergroup's relationships with its members for years to come. This video offers a rare glimpse into the most troubled time in New Edition's storied history. In spite of their personal issues during this era, and most of the show going unrehearsed, NE managed to put on a phenomenal show with a stellar set list. This show was LOADED! Highlights include performances of songs from New Edition's "Home Again" album, as well as some of their greatest hits sprinkled in. Rarities include songs such as Ralph’s “Do What I Gotta Do,” an extremely rare performance of Bobby’s “Gotta Get Away,” and Johnny’s (then) new track “Your Body.” What's also interesting about his show is watching Bobby Brown fill in for Ricky Bell in his absence (he was ill at the time). And be sure to peep Bobby’s grand entrance on an emperor’s throne LOL! 😂🤣 What’s also interesting is the fact that the police were called on Bobby during this show for flashing the audience during “My Prerogative,” and were waiting for him backstage. Some interesting things happening indeed! This tour will be long remembered as one of the most troubled and curious times in New Edition's history. Just look at the facade that they put on during the pre-show interview, you could feel the tension. Fasten your seatbelts ladies and gentlemen, because NE is Home Again!

Bobby’s voice here was perfect. Loved that he could still sing smooth, but could also sing rugged like his voice today.
It was perfect, honestly. He could manage high notes as well as an aggressive timbre when singing. It was the best of both worlds and honestly the last stand for his voice.
Oh wow! 😍 My bf at the time & I were at the NE Home Again Reunion Tour LA performance & Brandy & Kobe Bryant were on a date sitting a few rows directly behind us! 🥰 It was an amazing show to say the least! I have been blessed 🙏🏼 to see them several times since! Thanks for the memories! Who's going to see New Edition in 2024?!?!?!
Bobby’s voice was sliding like butter the whole concert 🔥😂
Yeah, regardless of his personal situation, his voice was great here! 🔥🔥🔥💜
Bobby had the crowd on a leash! This is legendary stage presence .. Dude was high outta his mind on this tour & Ricky was missing this show! 🐐🐐🐐
Bruh Bobby put on one hell of performance for the entire show. B Brown in his prime was something special 👏🏾👏🏾
Fact's 💯
Facts , let's remember the start of them was his ideas. When he tried out for the talent show , he was always a leader ‼️
Separating himself from the opening song with the open shirt, lol.
@Epik ill say 88-93
YES!
High or not B. Brown went ballistic in this show!! Thanx for posting this. Great memories - I saw this tour in Philly - one of the best nights of my life -- & again in Jersey right before things really fell apart. Looking forward to seeing them for the 7th time soon.
This was one of those instances where the drugs improved the performances lol! Like Boy George in Athens 1985, or Elton John at Wembley in 1984! Every now and again, the drugs will produce a legendary and energetic performance for singers. This was Bobby’s night 🤣🤣🤣! 🙌🏾🔥
I seen them too n philly I believe it was January 1997
Thank you for posting I was at this show in Philly 1997!
JG was at peak voice during this period of time. Thanks for posting!

The boys from Boston turned out my hometown of Memphis at the Mid-South Coliseum. They took it home with Home Again at the end.Much respect!!!
They were in Houston the night before and Ricky wasn't at that show either
The greatest group ever no other group had success like New Edition outside of the group everybody had solo hits and albums...
Actually, Earth, Wind & Fire and the Eagles are the best United States bands. They obtained the greatest heights in music, producing and teaching. The Isley Brothers, Maze and Con Funk Shun held their own. Mother's Finest became a great band with no promotions and they can play. New Edition would be classified performers and entertainers. The almighty Jacksons can't be touched performing and entertaining.
So True TRUE DAT !!!!!
The Beatles sold 300 million more records than New Edition.
@@perc30julio12The Beatles wasn't better then The Temptations not trying to take nothing away from the Beatles think about white artists got over because white artists stole a lot of our music and you have white CEOs running the show behind the scenes
@@perc30julio12 this not no blacks vs whites issue.. I love all types of good music facts 🎶💯💪🏿
Bobby was and remains my favorite
Most people don't even know #RickyBell and #BobbyBrown use to sing each other parts in #NewEdition
Lol I did
They did that alot through the years
Yea Ricky did all of Bobby’s vocals live on the count me out album all the time.
Yeah I didn’t know that and actually enjoyed hearing them both sing each other’s parts ❤️❤️❤️
Ralph used to definitely sing for Bobby too
This group is bananas! They can't do no wrong. Hip hop and R&B is on lock!
YEP!
Bobby did a good job filling in for Ricky Bell when Bell Biv DeVoe came on stage....
What happened to Ricky Bell????
Gary Smith Probably sick due to his cocaine addiction
Deandre yeah that what I thought when they said he had “the flu”
@@scottypimpinentertainment7160 👍
Ricky pulled a Bobby and missed the show.
Black History Moment: Thanks to Bobby Brown people are able to do a lot more Things on stage without going to Jail. He actually made the Bible Belt loosen up some..after a while they simply give up. Side note : I love how he put the Memphis police on front street, in front of the crowd so they wouldn’t touch him.. nice move Bobby
when did he do this?
You also forgot the Beastie Boys were responsible for the lewds act law
Thank you for posting the home again tour. I have watch ed it 4 times. I love seeing Ralph and Bobby sing together.

Amazing concert! Thank you for posting it! Man, it’s cool to hear their 80s songs with a 90s vibe
It sure is! They put that trademark 90’s spin on EVERYTHING! Thanks 4 watching! 💜
I feel like there should be a documentary focused on the “Home Again” tour and only on the “Home Again” tour 😂 Like I feel like their movie didn’t talk about this era enough! I think more happened than what they told us lol I really wanna know more about what happened behind the scenes and why there were so many problems
I agree! The fact that NE is still sort-a-kinda reeling from the ramifications behind what happened in this era is a testament to how detrimental it was. I would love to see that as well! There’s definitely more to it!
I Rather see them GET BACK TOGETHER. It was a UGLY TIME. It was Negative. Let's LEAVE IT THERE..That might bring back all the Ugly. I PRAY THEY DO THIS TOUR AGAIN , BUT THE RIGHT WAY. Ralph and Bobby still had the vocals man.....
Ralph STILL has them!
@@PurpleRain500 Don't sound like he did before though he sounds a little raspy now but I think that's due to him singing lead in damn near every song NE released. Bobby has like 60-70 percent of his vocals obviously doesn't sound as good as he did before but he can still sing thankfully.

I was there. Toni Braxton’s concert was just before their’s that year if my memory serves me right. Memphis was so hyped up but we recognized the tension. Bobby was super cocky but he performed like wild fire. We had so much fun that night. 💙
Thank you! I hope you have the Cool It Now and All For Love tours to surprise us with. If not, you have already given us so much and I am so appreciative!
If I find them I will be sure to post them! Thanks for watching!
I didn’t know how I would feel about Bobby doing Ricky’s part in BBD. But I didn’t HATE it. 1997 Bobby could pull it off. I also like how Johnny and Ralph did Rick’s part in Can You Stand the Rain. They didn’t over power it with their own styles. They just sang it just like him. Very well done.
Yes! They all did VERY well in Ricky’s place! They did a very good job singing with control and discipline like Ricky does so well. No over-singing by Johnny, they all held it down really well.
Bobby Brown was still in his prime at this time only thing he was missing was a hot ass solo album with hit songs in 97
Forever was a good album?
@@andrewstaples8677 Yes. The ballads on that album are all top notch... She's All I Need, My Place, Forever
Forever was good. I didn't like the single they released though. But he killed the ballads!
@@tmason3409 the original album supposed to have some hit producers/songwriters Bobby wanted to do it by himself
@@steviecritiquenewby7874 Yeah I think Tim and Bob (not Bobby as in Bobby) did a lot on that album. Plus he was dissing Babyface in interviews about his writing (in particular Exhale by Whitney). So i guess he felt he didn't need those big producers. But they could've kept Feelin Inside. She's All I Need or the title cut would've made better choices, IMO. If they wanted an uptempo song, It's a Still My Thing was cool.
Wow I can’t believe this whole tour is now uploaded !

Powerful show, powerful history, forever classic!!!!
Thanks again PurpleRain500.

21:14 I believe this is the only performance that Bobby actually sung his part for that song, Honestly it’s the only one I could find. I bet all along y’all thought it was Ricky but it was really Bobby’s voice on the record, he just got kicked out before the music video

I agree….
Thanks for the upload. I went to the Home Again Tour in Los Angeles and Bobby didn't show up. I was so pissed! hahaha
Oh wow! I sure hope that you had a good time! Thanks so much for watching!
Ricky Bell is the glue guy, a show without him ain’t quite right. Meanwhile by the time this tour reached me in Raleigh, there was no Bobby and Mike, the two who didn’t need the money. According to Brook Payne, it was hard to get the guys in rehearsal for this tour. I can’t tell, they look as on point as ever.
So true
Without Ralph Tresvant there’s no New Edition Facts!!!
@@antionemartin5698 I think everyone knows this because he’s the predominant lead, but Ricky is so versatile. His bridge parts are iconic and he used to sing Bobby Brown parts in his absences. Plus he even had to do Roni in a show. And BBD needs their lead singer.
@@stonedog23 Exactly. Ricky's parts give life to the songs. I'm still in love with you didn't go well without him

@@scottypimpinentertainment7160 Bobby brown left more of a influence and was more well known then David Ruffin
@@akumulight well tbh it really depends on which era you grew up in
Dope. My favorite group
🥰🥰🥰 YES Awesome Concert
Thanks for watching!
Now that I think of it the Bobby Brown filling in for BBD. Has the same groove as the RBRM concert they did back in 2018.
Yep!
Just imagine if things worked out at this time. These 6 off of this album, which doesn’t get the love it deserves? If NE stays together after this into the 2000’s… greatest group of all time wouldn’t be a debate.
Oooh ooh! I wish I had been there ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great upload. Thanks. Do you have the BBD Triple Threat Tour from 90 or 91 timeframe?
I wish that I did. I will continue to ask around for it to see if anyone has it. Thanks!
8:09-8:13 Bobby walking like Rick James 😂...
We real New Edition fans sitting here watching this blurry shit
Lol, and LOVING EVERY MINUTE! That talent cuts through like a KNIFE! I don’t mind! 🤣💜
I remember hearing or reading something that when The Home Again Tour started to fall apart Ronnie’s brother filled in for him some nights
Wow, really? That’s interesting!
So I recently heard that New Edition had a small tour in 2002 before the One Love/Bad Boy NE era. Do you have any of those concerts?????
I didn’t know that! Thanks for pointing that out, if I find anything I’ll be sure to post it. Thanks for watching!
Yes they did. I attended a show
Classic!!
