Johnny Gill is like "Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass, combined!" This was when we all were much younger. I am 48 and the average members of N.E. is about 50 now. They are still smooth today.
I remember this like it was yesterday! this was one of my favorite performances from New Edition and I remember going to school the next day and saying Ralph’s voice was so hyped!! Best part of my youth
During this period there were a couple shows on after Arsenio ended but of course they didn’t last. Keenan Ivory Wayans, Vibe which went through a couple hosts, Sinbad being one of them. In more recent years Monique brought back a similar vibe and some great guests on. Michael Baisden hosted Baisden After Dark and even Arsenio made brief comeback in 2013. He finished that season and was immediately told the show was renewed for second season but they quickly turned around and canceled.
It probably wouldn't last again it's the music that's out today.. Now if they include some 90's or whatever it might work it they can still hold a beat .Lot of the 90's and back can't hold their own like NE is doing today.
Reginald Davis true that but they wouldn’t be what we look at the now because JG changed the sound of the group and we took them as men instead of boys
everyone thats clowning the "note" that Ricky Bell "tried" to hit at the end. I guess none of you have the Heartbreak album. It wasnt meant to be taken serious.
@@therealflamelit Really ? , that's fascinating. I know he appears in the video for N.E. Heartbreak. Did you know he also directed videos for Special Ed in his heyday?
At 1st he was annoying to me along with GERALD LEVERT (R.I.P.). How-ever, I've grown to appreciate his / their singing style, although I'm an Atheist! I never did like teddy tender-ass, tho. He used to give me nightmares as a kid & reminds me of my abusive dad with his stinky beard!!!! 😬😵😖😩
You are looking at Ron's Choreo right there...Ron always helped or even put together the dance moves.. everyone knows. Ron did BBD's Choreo all by himself. If it wasn't for Ron...you wouldn't be watching Ralph to the running man, or Rodger Rabbit.
Ralph is a smooth operator. You guys are all smooth. Ralph is no 1. And Johnny Gill they both have great voices. You all are great performers and dancers. Please get back together. We love you new edition x

Everyone talking about the note Ricky did need to go listen to the Heartbreak album. It was part of a funny skit. He was suppose to sound like that. And Johnny sounded great on here. #NE4Life #NEDivas
I still remember watching the original version of this, thinking Ricky bell was trying to do to much on that note! #heneedmilk looking back, Johnny with all his singing talents didn't look comfortable doing the fast paced dance routines. (In the beginning) probably because he was a "crooner" and NE had been dancing since they were kids. These guys will always be one of my favorites, still listen to there music (Bobby included) he gave us classics!
Did Ron or Mike actually sing in this group? I know they were considered rappers but they are in every performance appearing to sing back up....never heard their voices alone. I always wondered this back in the day. 🤔
Ralph Tresvant had the smoothest version of the Running man dance I ever recall
To this day no late-night talk show has surpassed the musical guest of The Arsenio Hall Show.
Facts!!
None
Couldn't agree more!!
Ralph can beatbox AND do the running man at the same time!? DAMN 😍
Kiara Alston a talented fine ass king
Ralph was the man.
8:10..who else can do the running man and sing at the same time.
blackturkdog Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Christopher Williams, Al B. Sure, Kci

Anybody Could do it if you have the talent Its not hard
@@AnnaMaeBullock 😂 @ Johnny Gill..he’s the worst dancer of NE
@@AnnaMaeBullock Yes they can all do this, but Ralph gives that extra flavor and that head tilt at the end!! FLAVOR!!
The choreography is straight FIRE!!! As usual!! Brooke Payne is the MAN!!

Dance wise, Johnny never could match Bobby (as a replacement), but them PIPES-blow Johnny!!
BTW, I "wish" I could sing just 1/4 as good as JG!

Brent Dozier Bobby Brown destroyed New Edition
Carolyn Howell111 Naw he didn't, just the opposite, they adapted and became even better- like we all must do in life to be successful.

Every time I see an old Arsenio clip it makes me wish there was more diversity/blacks in late night tv now.
During this period there were a couple shows on after Arsenio ended but of course they didn’t last. Keenan Ivory Wayans, Vibe which went through a couple hosts, Sinbad being one of them. Agreed we need Diversity. Bring Arsenio back.
Me to. Miss the Arsenio Hall show.

Memories when music was still good
Johnny Gill definitely has the voice but Ralph Tresvant will always be the front man of the group. Ralph is the signature sound of NE
Reginald Davis true that but they wouldn’t be what we look at the now because JG changed the sound of the group and we took them as men instead of boys
