About Singapore Airlines (from Wikipedia):
Singapore Airlines (abbreviation: SIA) is the flag carrier airline of Singapore with its hub at Singapore Changi Airport. The airline is notable for using the Singapore Girl as its central figure in corporate branding. It has been ranked as the world's best airline by Skytrax four times and topped Travel & Leisure's best airline rankings for more than 20 years.
About the Airbus A350 ULR (from Airbus):
With the delivery of the first A350-900ULR to launch customer Singapore Airlines (SIA), the A350 XWB Family is positioned to lead the way for new ultra-long-range operations, including on the world’s longest commercial route, between Singapore and New York. Airlines already use the A350-900 and A350-1000 primarily for long-distance flights, but there is also demand for non-stop services on extreme long-haul missions, which is why Airbus developed its new game-changing variant. The A350-900ULR - derived from the A350-900 - has an extended range of up to 9,700 nautical miles. This was achieved by integrating a modified fuel system, which increases the aircraft’s fuel carrying capacity by 24,000 liters without the need for additional fuel tanks. With a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 280 tonnes, the A350-900ULR is capable of flying over 20 hours non-stop, combining the highest levels of passenger and crew comfort with unbeatable economics for such distances.

Fun fact: this route used to be flown from the Pacific route, but since Singapore Airlines avoids Russian airspace due to the conflict, it now flies from the Atlantic route
I think you talk from the JFK flight, the Newark flight is something else
@@moplays1944 looking at flight radar im pretty sure both fly out east now
@@ElastixFNBR Does the Newark fly the polar route?
Yes you are correct! I flew the same route in 2019 but now that I see the flights on the same route, I notice that the flight plan has been altered to avoid Russian airspace!
Correct. I took this flight in Dec 2021 when it was still doing the Pacific Route, should be able to see the northern lights across the Arctic around the 3-5 hours mark on the Port side of the aircraft if you are lucky enough.
sq crew here: with regards to the long runway usage, almost all our aircraft do that to preserve engine life and reduce maintenance costs/down time =) cheers! and love your reviews, they are exactly what i felt!
Any ideas on when SQ will update its mask policy?
Man Flex 45 SRS RWY A/T Blue!
@@philippenoel1695very late comment, not sure if you've been back onboard since but no masks are required
@@sxnchouthanks good to know. Never too late to reply
@@sxnchou Thanks been wondering this.
I still remember flying on this route for the very first time in the mid-2000s, when they operated the A340-500. It was my first time flying SQ's business class (at the time they called it 'Raffles Class') and my first time in business class in general. Boy, it was an experience I will never forget! And on the return flight, I practically begged my parents to buy a model of the A340 for me~
I finally got to try it again back in summer 2019 in premium economy. Still great as ever, probably better than any of the SQ flights I had. I definitely want to try it again, this time on their latest business class! It really brought back a lot of memories of this flight and my trip to Singapore~!
Let's gooo, popcorn is at the ready for this one :)
Got some fresh popcorn waiting in the VIP for you Will!
Having watched both of your channels I can recommend both of your channels, great to see some travel with practical advice to get cheaper tickets making better class travel available to the masses! (Let's be honest no-one likes economy class flights)
wassup will!
@@NonstopDan Hey, Dan I seen online your last name is “Goz.” I was just thinking for the channel “Dan Goz Places.”
:)
Flew this from FRA to JFK in January and it was by far the best business class experience I've ever had. I have SQ F on the a380 this July and cannot wait.
SQ Business Class on the A380 is simply fantastic. I flew LHR to SIN on it in 2019 - then on with SQ on the A350 to PER and then BNE - SIN - LHR on A350 then 777.
I loved every single minute but the best was the A380 - book the cook (lobster thermidor) - heaven. Honestly, the flights with SQ were a huge part of the 4 week trip and I am so delighted I went with SQ.

Are you talking about simply aviation
I just did this flight both ways and did not find the flight time a problem. No jet lag in Singapore but lots of jet lag back in NY. SIA crew are THE BEST. So sweet and kind.
I just want to say that I absolutely love your videos (and you). The way you edit them, film them, your constructive criticism, your knowledge and your genuine passion for what you do. Much love watching you from Aruba!
Such a well presented and informative vid. Just came home to Australia on a few SIA flights travelling Melbourne->Singapore->Kuala Lumpur, return over April-May 2022. Loved every leg travelled. Yup, food is way betterrrrr on flights out of Singapore.
Great video Dan. I did this flight in 2019 and the service and food were great. It looks like they haven't returned to the pre-Covid level of services. I had researched before hand when to sleep across the 19 hours and I managed to grab 6 hours across two 3 hour stints. I loved the seat too and the crew were great too. Very friendly and accommodating.
wife and I did this on the honeymoon in 2019 too. Flight was amazing. Staff even brought us out a cake and gifts when they heard we were celebrating! Book the Cook was amazing and we slept about 12 of the 19 hours in 2 6 hour stints.
The funniest thing was the flight back. I did the direct flight from Singapore to Seattle. I left on Thursday morning local time at 930am and I landed on Thursday morning in Seattle at 9.30am. So I felt I had been given a day back. Travelling across so many time zones is truly mind bending!
It is all lunacy in lala land as usual.
I flew this flight about a month ago JFK-SIN. I had a little bit of a different experience! I think that the 22:40 departure time really helped with the jet lag... I was able to get a full eight hours of shut-eye right off the bat. Maybe it was because I slept through the second meal service, but I thought that Singapore Airlines had more dine-on-demand in the middle of the flight. Right after I awoke the FA offered to serve me my Book the Cook meal. Other than that, I totally agree with your review and I found the lack of pajamas and touchscreen very odd. Great work!
Nice
it’s not dine-on-demand but your FA went the extra mile to make sure you’re well taken care of. Kudos to them!
The proposed Qantas Sydney to London will include all four classes. But I can’t imagine flying 20 hours in economy with a 42’ seat.
And on QF it’ll feel like 30 hours.
@@Nienpet If QF launches this I think I will still avoid and fly with Qatar. QF's service is very average from entertainment to food.
To be fair I can’t imagine a 20 hour flight in any seat….
@@tacodias What about Emirates first class ??
@@moem7323 it would be less bad, but still not the best way to spend 20 hours
I love your videos Dan. I am very passionate about planes and I think your channel is the great place! I also love how honest you are.
Keep up the work
As a Singaporean, it makes me happy to see our national carrier getting good reviews by International travellers
The more I learn about Singapore, the more I am in awe of it! Such an incredible country full of beautiful, amazing people. 💖
I'm booked on this flight in September! I booked Business because I figured there's literally no other flight that will be as necessary to fly in comfort as this one. I'm so excited! I'll be vlogging it as well 😀
Excellent report Dan! I travel to Singapore a couple of times every year. I have never flown the non-stop out of EWR on SA. But I have flown the non-stop from SFO. I like it very much because of the late night departure. I have just booked the Newark route for November and appreciate your report so much. Keep up the good work. I just subscribed and sorry I did not find your channel earlier. Great travels!!
Another awesome review.
Take care,

"I almost walked all the way to Singapore just to get to my seat" lol
“A350-900 ULR standing for ultra long haul” 😂 3:40
Ultra-Long-Range but that works too.
Thank you for the video! I enjoyed seeing your experience on the SIA Business Class; makes me miss flying!
Wow what a review! Been waiting for this one! Thank you Dan!❤️
Nice ! Thanks for sharing. Lots has changed from when I first took EWR To SIN back in 2008. It was A340-500. I flew business class and like always back in the day the food was pretty good I recall. Still had the lobster Thermidor ( pre order ) 😎
Love all your videos! Thanks and keep them
coming! 👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve never flown Singapore Airlines, but Singapore is one of my favorite countries. I flew China Southern from JFK via Guangzhou when I visited. 5/10 recommend China Southern.
Woo hoo!!!! Great timing!!!! I'm finally able to watch the video as soon as it is loaded!!!! 👏👏👏🤓🤓🤓
Qantas has finalised their order for 12 A350-1000ulr aircraft for Project Sunrise. The Qantas A350-1000ulr's will have 238 seats spread over 4 classes - First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy. Project Sunrise non-stop ultra long haul services will commence mid 2025.
Another insightful, professional in-depth review from NS Dan. Thanks!!!
Hope SQ watches this and takes the feedback! The pre-covid services need to come back, and that meal plan and catering quality out of the US definitely needs some ironing out.
SQ have dropped so much in quality, sad because it used to be one of the few decent airlines.
@@carlbengtsson7315 I think it just needs to restart some of the pre-COVID service provisions and things will be much better
Are you going to do the Qantas London-Sydney route when that opens? That's about 20 hours.
Hey Masako! Didn't expect to see you here. Are you also a fan of watching videos on airlines? I love watching these. Also love your Revelation F series!
Well worth biz class
Yeah it is also supposed to start in late 2025.... so xd
💀if that flight has economy class, that's against human rights.
@@isthatajojoreference149 Its qantas so it's not terrible.
But yes it does
Appreciate all the info Dan. I may have missed it, but how did you secure this flight? I’m trying to do the same flight in Nov using miles, but am wary of the waitlist system. Did you use miles?
Great video Dan. Awesome video man really enjoyed every part of the video and i am planning to take this future some time in the future
I liked your video! I have flown this route several times. The Singapore airlines crew was always great and I also liked the business class seat. Food was not bad but I would agree coming out of Singapore was better. Although I love this airline 19hours is pretty daunting so I was always happy to arrive at my destination.
I used to take this route when flying to/from Jakarta/Florida in college all the time. I looked forward to it, I knew it was a special experience.
Absolutely love your videos Dan. So genuine!!!
Thanks so much Kevin😍
Thank you for this amazing video to show what the real giant aircraft looks like; cause I got lots of interest stimulated by your video on my uni project themed with airline simulation.
19 hours in 19 minutes, I LOVE IT!
Thanks for this review Dan! Now i know what to expect when I fly this route in 2023!
Love this video! I'm taking LAX to SIN via NRT this June! Then again to TIA... It's a really long trip, but I'm looking forward to SGA's service :)) also excited to explore Changi airport omg 😍
Hi Dan, great video! To be honest I don't like flying 'cause I'm a bit scared (but I'm doing it). I'm addicted to your videos. In the end you're talking about how many the flight costs, but what does is it cost without those miles? Keep up the good work!
Thank you for combining my two favorite things: luxury travel, and Drag Race!
What a smooth landing. I really enjoyed this video 📹 ☺️ 😊
*The inaugural took 17 hours 20 minutes it was a fun flight*
What a great surprise!!!! Absolutely love your videos ❤❤
Thanks for the review. I flew this in PY and found the throne seats in the back a fantastic ride. Flying back in J class, I wasn't impressed with the seats. They just aren't that comfortable for sleeping, which you really need to do on such a long flight.
My goodness Dan! 19 hours in a plane even in Business Class sounds like an absolute nightmare. Qantas is talking about Sydney to London direct with can you believe it 20 hours? The food you were offered looked at best very unappealing.
I love this video. Absolutely wonderful. I wish I was on that plane right now
I have always loved the SQ business seat, I am 195 and it is one of the best for me
Awesome video Dan. Can't wait to fly this route from Ottawa to Newark to Singapore.
I used to sit in East Coast Park (in Singapore) looking out at the waiting container ships in the ocean, and observe the SQ flights taking off from Changi for the last 2 years, and ponder who was onboard and their reasons for travel during this pandemic, wishing I was sitting onboard too. Fortunate enough to take several flights during pandemic too.
It is so good to be back onboard and hear that stirring music from the safety video - really brings a tear to the eye. It's a feeling of home (for now as a foreigner here) but also sanctuary as you feel so safe and warm while on SQ. Just a wonderful experience.
ECP is indeed a really a unique park.
Thank you Danny for this amazing content omg I enjoyed watching it with my family we loved the 19 hours journey . Happy eid
Amazing, I meant to book this deal but dropped the ball so I'll be in the cheap seats instead to JFK later this month, but really I'm just excited to finally go back to Singapore. We've done the flight from Newark to Singapore twice and you're right about that terminal... it's no good!
Flying this one in premium economy just to connect to another 7 hour flight down to Australia. Wish me luck 🍀 Great video as always!
Wow. That sounds like it could be utterly exhausting
Why don’t you take JAL
@@afcacbs8544 they don’t fly to my local airport :(
How was your experience? I'm planning the same route for my parents who are 66 and 71. It will be premium but I'm wondering if it's a comfortable flight
Love this! would love to see the flight back, to see the difference in food!
Love those seats and this route so much!
Great review and I 100% agree that the biz seats on the SQ airbus are the best.
Great video Dan. Brand new to your channel. Love the videos I have watched already. Safe travels!!
I love the honesty in your videos.
Loved the video as always 🥰
Love these guys ! I’ve been a platinum member for years - love my upgrades
Great product and review. SIA is a great airline and I used to fly them until I got high status with OneWorld.
Hi Dan i love your video it is fantastic the experience you go through keep safe
I like that it’s a 19 hour flight and the video is 19 minutes and 19 seconds long
Omg Dan you posted I am so happy 🤩
My longest flight was a direct flight from Auckland, New Zealand to Frankfurt, Germany. It was in 2020 during the first lockdown and it was 27h in economy. And when we arrived in Frankfurt we waited another 1h30 until someone opened the door of the airport 😅 nobody was working that day, Easter holiday during lockdown and there was no other flight then ours. I would have loved business class…
27 hours?
Finally! Had missed your reviews 😀
Tack så mycket :D jag ser fram emot nästa äventyr!
Flew SQ21 from EWR - SIN. Absolutely AMAZING Flight! Would I do this flight again? In a heartbeat! SQ is simply top tier. Miss Singapore too. Amazing country and amazing people. If you’ve been to SG, you know.
Just took this flight. Left from Newark. We had a good flight. Food, beverage and service was fantastic. Newark Airport although sucks. I want to visit Fortune Centre.
Dan, I just watched your Qatar Airways WORST business class video when you mentioned your misophonia. I too have misophonia and just wanted to let you know, you’re not alone ❤️. Sometimes we feel distant from others or feel like others can’t relate to us. I relate, I get it, and I’m so thankful for your videos 😊
Welcome to Singapore!! Love from SG!!
Wow Dan, you are making yourself public enemy number one of Lufthansa :)
Great video, keep it up!
Qantas just announced they’re starting London > Sydney direct in a couple years. Will take over 20 hours, am curious to see jetlag on that flight, especially when comparing their new economy and first products only available for that flight
Hopefully SpaceX starts doing this route not long after that.
Jetlag is beacuse of the time difference, not time traveled.
Always love your long haul reviews reminds me of United from Johannesburg to Newark
I’m looking forward to watching this new video, as always I’m thankful to you and Oscar for your adventures.
Have a great week wherever you are, you just made my day with this new video.
Thanks
Thanks so much - that means a lot to me!

I've not had a chance to try the A359 yet but back in the 2000s, I did SQ22/SQ21 on its predecessor, the A345. The flights were fantastic and I didn't want to disembark. There was another trip where I chose to fly Eva Air via TPE. On the inbound segment, I had a family emergency and had to return to Singapore at short notice. There was no available seat on BR31 (EWR-TPE) and the airline very apologetically transferred me onto ... you guessed it, SQ21! I couldn't have asked for more! Lol.
I'll be flying this in August and I cannot wait!
I recognized the traffic that day because I was in the United express E175 at 8:37 on the right. Wish I had the chance to see you! Safe Travels, hope to see you soon!
One detail I really appreciate, Dan, is your accent - which is close to being non-existent, and therefore, very easy to understand for non-native speakers. I guess this comes along with your dual citizenship.
Btw, thank you very much for having set up your channel and your reviews, which to me are not just the best made, but the most helpful and honest of them all. Thank you very much - thump's up and subscribed 🙂
Thank yo so much for your compliment Thomas! Your comment made my day🙏
We took SQ33 SFO to SIN and thought the food was pretty good! Plating was a bit better than what yours looked like too! One thing we’re bummed about was not asking for an amenity kit! Guess we will have to do Business Class again 😂 or perhaps first one day!!
New subscriber here from Las Vegas but traveling soon to Asia. I really enjoy your video. More power to you.
Love your videos!
I flew on Business Class last Jul 2021non-stop to San Francisco and the food from SG was top-notched.🤤
19 hours in the air a bit too much.
I find the best seat fr sleeping on the SQ A350 is the one at the front of the cabin. The footwell seems a little wider.
Also, i love their uniforms 💜
Nice video! I’ve been watching your videos the past days because I’m gonna take a flight to Belgrade with KLM and I’ve been very nervous. Your videos have really helped me calm down and see the beauty of flying. Eventhough Im flying economy class, I’m still going to get in there more relaxed. Can you mabey make a video on fear of flying? It would be super nice to hear your advice if you have it.
19 hours seems to much for me I think haha nice yo see you managed so good to have a good flight!
I took SG from SG to London in May in business class on the A350-900 and the food was well presented and delicious. This one looks tacky...wish i can share the pictures...Then took the A380 back to SG...best flight ever...Going back again with Oman air, cant wait for that experience 😀
Lovely video. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Going on this flight in two days and hyping myself up for it. Thanks Dan!
I love this seat too. Another good thing on my flight is that the crew memorized my name when the flight was full
Great review, Dan. Thanks.
Hello Dan! Amazing video as always!
I’ll be flying SQ A380 J class on their SIN-FRA route this aug… just wanna ask, do you know if all their operating A380s have the new seats? And which one’s better, old vs new seats?
All the A380s have been refurbished with the newer business class seats (not the ones shown in the video). They're a bit narrower but still generous, and the screen is touch responsive.
Edit: To add on, you can recline to flat in the new seats unlike the older ones that flip forward to form the bed.
Just got my hands on SQ 351.
I expect less ear pressure on the a350, less than a330-200
Lots of wonderful ideas, such as a dine on demand meal menu 💡
I also love the sing air business class
This guy deserves WAY more subs!
Simply put, I just love your reviews! I'm sorry the food wasn't up to snuff...it's seems like Newark definitely keeps it "simple" with their menus. The longest flight I've ever been on was coming home from HKG to YYZ and it was about 16 hours. Luckily, I got upgraded to business class right at boarding, which made the flight bearable, otherwise, I think I would have had a rougher go of it in economy. Air Canada's business class isn't awful but I'm definitely looking forward to flying some other airlines with more impressive seats and food! Thanks for always pointing us in the right direction, Dan!
May I ask how you got upgraded to business class? I just recently flew 13 hours with Turkish Airlines in economy and oh my god, it was awful (just how long the flight was and how uncomfortable I was, the food was really good and other stuff as well)
@@lauvasquez8030 Great question! In this particular instance, I was flying so much in the year that I was able to accumulate gold status with Air Canada/Star Alliance and I guess with that particular status, you get upgraded if there's additional room in business class. In this particular situation, it was a complete surprise for me as I had just arrived from a connecting flight and was literally running to the gate. When I got there, one of the Air Canada associates pulled me aside and said the boarding pass I had was invalid and that she had a "better ticket" for me. She handed me a business class seat and I cried before hugging her lol I've done that long haul flight numerous times in economy and let me tell you, flying home in business was a godsend. When I didn't have status, I would often just ask the gate attendees if there were any upgrades available and sometimes, you just get lucky, other times, you get a firm no. It never hurts to ask and to be kind to everyone you speak to! :) Hope this helps!
@@Breakups2Makeup Thanks so much for letting me know about your experience and also providing advice! Will definitely keep this in mind for next time :)
