I had the great fortune of taking the VSOE from Venice to London with my family when I was 17 back in the 80s. Amazing experience that I remember well! Thanks for the great video!
Great experience, lovely to see you both upgraded to the suite, imagine how much more amazing this trip would have been if the train had travelled on to its original destination of Constantinople/Istanbul.
I love travel vlogs air water and train. There are some amazing air travel suites and seats, but as for spending 28 hours on a train this has to be the ultimate way to do it. Absolutely beautiful
I'm surprised at everyone calling this train "impressive" and "astonishing". What would be impressive is to take a train ride like that for around 1k-2k and make it affordable for the average consumer. But anything can be impressive if you make it cost enough. 2k could be better spent on an insane spec gaming PC which would bring you many more memories than a couple day 23k expense. Unless of course that 23k is chump change for someone.
Oh my goodness! I traveled on the Orient Express as a child with my parents and older brother. I was old enough to enjoy it and remember it today. It was a smaller room similar to the one you showed near the end. Not as fancy as the suite you were in. This was over 60 years ago and I'm ready to take it again. This time in the suite you were in! Thanks so much for a wonderful tour of your lovely trip.
I always thought the orient express was just made up for the movies but that train is beautiful. It’s definitely worth price if one can afford it. Thanks for video. One day I should be so lucky to travel on the best transportation in the world.
@@freelancelady Yes, but this is travel in a style nobody else does,at such a level. To be able to have that kind of experience just once in your life is amazing 👏
Definitely not made up, this used to be how the European elite travelled before Aeroplanes became fast, comfortable and reliable. The most luxurious sleeper-wagons and trains were run by the CIWL, founded in 1876. The most famous was of course the Orient Express, (other famous lines were the Nord Express and Sud Express) but this was pretty much the way to travel internationally in Europe around the turn of the century. You could, given you had the funds, travel between Europe's larger cities on trains at close to this level of luxury (without the modern amenities like Air conditioning) and on to some exotic destinations like Constantinople, Baghdad, CIWL even ran trains to Vladivostok and Manchuria for a brief moment before the Russian revolution. Of course, some particularly ostentatious people and heads of state would own their own railcars or even their own trains. (Like having a private jet rather than flying first class with Emirates or Qatar Airways) Quite a few royal carriages have been preserved across Europe. That train is a living piece of history, it's not just the luxury you pay for but the fact that the train is a century old, the experience of travelling the way it was in the 1920s. And for those that say 20.0000 $ for 28 hours is too much for a suite, a First Class suite on Emirates starts at 7.000 $ for a 6-7 hour flight.
Thank you so much especially since this will be as close as I will get to that luxurious train as was the Orient Express. My mouth has not stopped watering. I am on a strict diet and watching you and that absolutely beautiful Millie eating that sumptuous cuisine is very difficult for me and I splurged on a piece of sourdough bread 😜. Love the videos young man❤️ thank you from Las Vegas Nevada.
We saw this train at the station just outside Paris. My wife immediately said she would like to book that for her birthday. Thanks for the insight into the amenities!
Hello, Will, from Halifax, Canada. I watched this video last night in my home theatre and it was as though I was on the train myself. Hugely entertaining. Made me smile when the employee took your hand as you stepped off the train. Now, that's class. Keep up the great work, Will.
Had to read that twice, there's a Halifax in England as well, I knew of the tradition in the USA of having British towns and city names but didn't realise there were similar ones in Canada too. Just read and it isn't directly named after the town but from the Earl of Halifax, who was Earl of our Halifax and it is why he had the name, which it makes it even more fascinating. Halifax is a pretty small town next to my larger city, rather excited it has this.
David that's for sure. I'm a lover of trains and have taken them for decades and now on the Amtrak when I go to get off there's not even a stool and they expect you to jump down the two and a half feet down--no matter what your ages or your gender or your situation --with no help with you suitcase. I pause and Shout out-- WHERE is the stool? p Possibly they will bring one over; throw it down; and leave again. YOU have to do it all on your own despite your age or gender. fin2ally I've grown to hate trains in America.
Watched this film a 2nd time. I will never travel on The Orient Express, so travelling with you both was wonderful. It's the epitome of luxury, elegance, beauty. Thank you.
What a beautiful experience! Wonderful to share this with Millie, as a frequent traveller it’s great when you get to share these experiences with your other half! Excellent video Will!
To see the interior of the Orient Express gives the impression of luxury beyond…a gem that is well taken care of for generations to come..thanks for sharing..🎉
Loved this video--I have seen Orient Express videos before, but never a room so elegant as this one and having traveled from Calais to Venice by motorcoach and visiting all the sites along the way, seeing the scenery and you and Millie sharing the luxury of your experience is wonderful. I have Eurailed thru Europe, choosing the first class option, but always traveled by day and not in a sleeper, just in a cabin. I met the most amazing people along the way--memorable was a man on my first Eurail trip in '87 from England who bought me a beer as I was traveling from Como to Luzern in the older St. Gotthard tunnel. We chatted the whole way. My favorite vista on that trip is the town of Wassen, right after the train exited the tunnel it circles the village and its iconic church so one sees the church from all sides as the train used the circle route to descend into the Reuss river valley towards Luzern. Given you crossed into Italy in Chiasso you went thru the St. Gotthard route as well, and I believe the alps along the way are the most stunning in Europe as one passes Altdorf and heads south thru the Reuss River Valley, then goes from German speaking Switzerland to Italian speaking Switzerland thru the St. Gotthard tunnel, amazing in itself that a mountain tunnel changes a culture and language. I took four tours of Europe, in '77, '82, '84 and '17, but the three Eurail trips I took were special too. I also worked in Bologna Italy for a few weeks in '95. Alas, my newlywed wife could not join me because my trip was scheduled suddenly, but my daughter right now is in Siena doing graduate study in Italian at the University there. She like you loves history, and when she returns to the US in August she will start work to complete her masters in International Studies. My career was in tourism which is what allowed me so much travel, especially business travel, and now I do it just for leisure after more than 41 years in guest service. Hope to watch more of your videos!
Wow, that trip seems incredible. Lavished in luxury with amazing food and drink with the beauty of Europe just outside the window. Simply amazing. Also, Millie's outfits are awesome.
What an adventure!!! Having been in the travel industry for 24 years, I don't think I have ever gotten to experience such a luxury. That includes first class air travel.
The way you start your description of the video... You make it sound like it's the most wonderful place on earth... I'm convinced ill trade having a ride on the train with going to heaven
Goosebumps just seeing this on video; can't imagine what it's like actually being there. Didn't even realize there was more than one orient express. I can remember a few times over the years, train enthusiasts at London Victoria Station, taking pictures of the train departing the station and I could never get close enough to have a peek inside.
Thank you for your out of the world post. I feel like I’ve participated in this once in a lifetime experience. I will never get close to travelling on this beautiful train but then we can all dream 💭 I guess.
Thank you for fulfilling my lifelong dream❤ I have been obsessed with that journey since the first time I saw the original movie. The way you (Millie😊) filmed and narrated your trip was so interesting. You give so much detail, including walking outside the trains, that I feel like I have armchair traveled with you.❤❤Cheers to both you and Millie🎉
That was fabulous! Some years ago (I think early 1980’s) and when the English portion of the train was still called the Venice Simplon Orient Express, I purchased a ticket (I splurged!) to ride on it from London to Bournemouth with a lovely meal each way and I thought that was amazingly opulent! I remember wishing I could go for the full ride but that (and remains) far beyond my budget!
Just looked it up: The "classic" 5 nights trip on the Venice Simplon Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul in a Grand Suite like yours is GBP 55.000 per person. With all due respect: But a 9 nights transatlantic voyage from Hamburg to New York onboard Queen Mary 2 in a "Q1" Grand Duplex Apartment with 209m² is HALF that price ... As much as I would like to take a trip on the Orient Express ... but THIS is WAY too much money. But a great video nonetheless. Thanks for uploading and sharing your experience.
rarity and scale -the train carries about 200 people, the Cunarder takes about 2500 -the QM2 runs the transatlantic line about 12 times a year the VSOE traverses the OE Paris-Istanbul route about once a year. if you want to specifically do the actual OE route thats your only one-train option since the demise of the actual OE.
Ulrich Schmidt: Yes, but are you guaranteed a spot on a life boat should you need it or is that extra? There’s still some allure to hitchhiking if you’ve got a good thumb.
I've been on the Orient Express from Venice to Paris, but unfortunately we had to take a different route so the scenery wasn't as good as what you saw. It was an amazing trip that I'll never forget

The Train passes by my office on its Verona-London route, everytime i see it rolling by im impressed of how beautiiful the train looks from the outsude.
I managed to catch a glimpse of this incredible train while I was waiting mine in VE Mestre Station, Italy, district of Venice. It took a short break so I had the chance to take a look at the inside from the many windows. I could see the expensive wood finitures, the Kitchen wagon who was working on dinner, and some passengers cabins. People around me were taking pictures and then, I still wonder how, two Japanese ladies donning two lovely yukatas came out to have a brief walk and limber up their tired legs. It looked like an otherwordly experience!

I loved how happy Millie was sending this postcard. Adorable!
I had no idea a train could be so luxurious! Just wow!
millie's outfit with the blue pants and white shirt really suits her! she has great taste!
*We need this all the way to Asia*
That footage at 0:30 is not an italian lake but they share borders on it, i live there and i pass next to that railway you just travelled on everytime on a bus. Also beautiful view of Campione d'Italia. Just to say.
India already has 5 train like this
1. The Deccan Odyssey
2. Maharajas’ Express
3. The Golden Chariot
4. Royal Rajasthan on Wheels
5. Palace on Wheels
@@abhisekdas435 I've heard about the Maharajas train in an old issue of Conde Nast Traveler. It sounded every bit as incredible as the OE.
@@largol33t1 certainly...and four other trains are also no less than rhat
No possible as of right now as it will be crossing some very hostile territories once you go east of Turkey. Think Taliban hostile. Bur we all have a dream and hope one day this train will indeed take us all the way to Asia. That will be AMAZING!!
Millie seems like a really nice lass, gratz to both of you for finding each other ( nice trips, lavish suits and foods, is all well and good but having the right person by your side on said trip and your trip through life is worth far more than words can contain, may the rails be smooth and the skies blue for both of you).

Travelling on the OE is a life long dream for my daughter & I. We will absolutely do this some day.
Until then, this vlog was a beautiful reminder of what we have in-store.
Thank you!!!
I had the great fortune of taking the VSOE from Venice to London with my family when I was 17 back in the 80s. Amazing experience that I remember well! Thanks for the great video!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
What amazes me is how clean it is. Thanks for an inside look at the orient express.
Great experience, lovely to see you both upgraded to the suite, imagine how much more amazing this trip would have been if the train had travelled on to its original destination of Constantinople/Istanbul.
That trip is 55k per person…
There is a once in a year trip. 55k per person in the grand cabin.
@@ViatoremDiEfa More like once in a lifetime...
I love travel vlogs air water and train. There are some amazing air travel suites and seats, but as for spending 28 hours on a train this has to be the ultimate way to do it. Absolutely beautiful
Looks fantastic!! My late Grandfather was lucky enough to win a competition around 20 years ago for an all expenses paid trip on the Orient Express!
For $20000+, that's the kind of luxury I would expect. What a wonderful train.
not worth it too much money , like WAY too much
For that much the meals should have been included!
@@mateussousa8002 well, you obviously don't have that kind of money. Stick to the subway
@@deedsofdecapitation7477 Are you morbidly obese?
This is definitely a bucket list item for me. I've always wanted to experience a proper first class train voyage.
Now THIS is luxury travel!!
can't get over these views omg! 😍🏞

INDIAN LEXURY TRAIN 🇮🇳🇺🇸
I always thought the orient express was just made up for the movies but that train is beautiful. It’s definitely worth price if one can afford it. Thanks for video. One day I should be so lucky to travel on the best transportation in the world.
There’s pictures of the original and a recreations you can find!
20,000 dollars for 28 hours that is too much money…think about all the places you can visit and travel to for that money…
@@freelancelady
Yes, but this is travel in a style nobody else does,at such a level.
Truly, this was a five-star hotel on rails, and then even more. Thank you for sharing the most luxurious ride ever. It will be in my dreams!
We saw this train at the station just outside Paris. My wife immediately said she would like to book that for her birthday. Thanks for the insight into the amenities!
Meniul prezentat este delicios,
Ambientul intrece orice asteptare.
One of these days, I'd love to see you review 'The Canadian,' the Toronto-to-Vancouver train.
Halifax is a pretty small town next to my larger city, rather excited it has this.
hi
David that's for sure. I'm a lover of trains and have taken them for decades and now on the Amtrak when I go to get off there's not even a stool and they expect you to jump down the two and a half feet down--no matter what your ages or your gender or your situation --with no help with you suitcase. I pause and Shout out-- WHERE is the stool? p
Possibly they will bring one over; throw it down; and leave again. YOU have to do it all on your own despite your age or gender. fin2ally I've grown to hate trains in America.
Neat to see another Haligonian in the comments!
When he opened his window after he woke up ..... I was jealous from the depth of my heart. This guy is living my dream. Happy Journey!
I was very blessed to have traveled on the Venice Orient Simplon Express ...it was beautiful and exquisite.
Millie is very fortunate to be able to travel with you on these luxury ventures. Love to see more Millie in your video travels
Watched this film a 2nd time. I will never travel on The Orient Express, so travelling with you both was wonderful. It's the epitome of luxury, elegance, beauty. Thank you.
I know I'll never get to experience this in person, yet I'm very glad it exists. It's neat to see from afar.
Will, this is jaw dropping luxury. Incredible service. Very fun to watch. Bucket list item…
Cheers 🥂
Your enthusiasm really makes your videos extremely enjoyable.
This is so wonderful. I don't understand how there's people out there wasting money going to Disney world year round when you can do this!
Couldn’t agree more!
What a beautiful experience! Wonderful to share this with Millie, as a frequent traveller it’s great when you get to share these experiences with your other half! Excellent video Will!
Thanks so much for watching Kerri :)
To see the interior of the Orient Express gives the impression of luxury beyond…a gem that is well taken care of for generations to come..thanks for sharing..🎉
Wow! Gorgeous scenery! And I really like how the train workers are all dressed up. This is the best trip I’ve seen yet.
This train is an amazing vintage and beautiful experience!
Grinning from ear to ear and thanks for sharing. Even James West and Artemus Gordon couldn't top this!
Oh my word,I am in awe of the beauty and luxury of this renowned train. Thank you for a most beautiful video.
Switzerland looks abdolutely gorgeous. If I had the money I would definitely pay to travel on this train. Wow
I will admit I got a bit choked up myself
Thank you for your out of the world post. I feel like I’ve participated in this once in a lifetime experience. I will never get close to travelling on this beautiful train but then we can all dream 💭 I guess.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
Thank you for fulfilling my lifelong dream❤ I have been obsessed with that journey since the first time I saw the original movie. The way you (Millie😊) filmed and narrated your trip was so interesting. You give so much detail, including walking outside the trains, that I feel like I have armchair traveled with you.❤❤Cheers to both you and Millie🎉
Millie is an instant star! Really enjoyed this episode helping me relax before bed. 👍🏼
That mountain view is breathtaking!
Beautiful and beautifully presented. I have been binge watching old episodes of Downton Abbey and today this... it is all so calm and restful.
Hello how are you doing?
yeah, some 40 years ago...
Just looked it up:
The "classic" 5 nights trip on the Venice Simplon Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul in a Grand Suite like yours is GBP 55.000 per person.
QM2 which takes 2,695 people vs 174 on the OE hardly comparable mate.
@@ITSaPendragon You realize that the ship is huge while the train is very small by comparison. I would happily make the trade.
@@edennis8578 that's literally what i said....
rarity and scale
-the train carries about 200 people, the Cunarder takes about 2500
-the QM2 runs the transatlantic line about 12 times a year the VSOE traverses the OE Paris-Istanbul route about once a year. if you want to specifically do the actual OE route thats your only one-train option since the demise of the actual OE.
Traveling from the Italian crotchpit to The French Sewer. Fun timesm
Great Video! I can't imagine being able to do something like this. I wish all people were able to do this. I think everyone should be able to experience a luxury experience in their lives.
Exactly my thoughts as well!
Man planes are amazing and all, but trains are just so romantic and peaceful, I really want to be in one like this someday.
Just staggering. An absolute dream journey. The worst thing about this journey is having to get off it at the end.
I don’t know why but you are my go to lately if I can’t sleep. Great content 🏴
I really enjoyed this one including you talking about the sponsor of Babbel, which I’ve downloaded on my phone and really enjoy learning another language. I’m hoping one day to travel overseas and speak to the locals in their language. Learning another language to me is pretty cool.
The train looks absolutely amazing - hope that you and Millie had a great time
What an unbelievable experience!! Incddible mate!! 🚂
Your filming and commentary are so well done. I really feel like I was with you on the train.
wow I have been binge watching you 3 the last two days. thanks xxx a feel good place.
Lucky old Millie! You’re a true gentleman to her (and all others in your vids) - lovely to see. Your videos are so excellent and therapeutic! Keep it up
