      To do it regularly with something like a large camper would cause excessive wear but it's great ability to have for short tows you may do a couple times a year and not need a bigger truck for.

      Yup thats what ive been trying to explain to people. I bought a 2018 f150 a few yrs back, and everybody thinks its like a 350. Because it basically is. When we were younger, the 350s could barely do what my truck can. Its also bigger than older 250s and 350s.

    • @Soulintent95
      @Soulintent95 21 день назад

      @@VeryOddTimes they also have transmissions that are similar to what semis have. I think that might be why its so common for newer trucks to blow through several transmissions. Those 8-10 gears aint meant to be cycled through quickly. If someone cuts off a semi, the semi cant just slam the brakes and stop. Those gears get to go down properly. If someone cuts off an f150 with the 10r80, the 10r80 cries.

      It's marketing and largely depends on the configuration to achieve that. Your common 3.5L crew cab with 5.5' box isn't the configuration that can do that. But there is a configuration capable.
      That being said, just because you can doesn't mean you should. It's fine a time or two per year but if you're regularly hauling more than say 5-7k lbs you should really have a larger truck.

    An F-150 MAY be ok for towing heavier loads in places like the plains in west Texas or gently rolling hills in Kansas. However, it’s a bad choice for towing in the mountains with steep grades and switch backs. Plus, higher altitude will rob a gas engine of the performance it gets at lower altitudes. These guys should rephrase what they’re saying.
    EDIT: The F250 and larger trucks have more mass thus making it easier to stop heavier loads. This is very important and these guys should include that in their video.

    An F-150 has a very short bed suitable for hauling bags of mulch or a few suitcases to the airport. A 250 is a competent pickup for most people’s needs unless you really need to tow and then it’s the 350. IMO, the diesel only makes sense if you need it to make your living.

    F150 wheñ you occasionally tow.
    Towing should also include stopping, so ya better look at an f450.

    All these comments... Are you guys all 95? Back in your day you hauled the school house with your 7.3 f250 up hill both ways in the snow? You've all put 4.5 million miles on your powerstoke? Mad about all these young wipper snappers driving too fast pulling trailers while you can't even get out of your own cloud of smoke? I loved my 7.3, even loved my v10 but neither will tow 12k as good as that Ecoboost.

      You're just entitled because you didn't have to walk to school uphill both ways while it was raining and snowing.

      @@Mayhem-Mechanics well that's true. Closest thing we had to a hill was the silage pile. And I didn't know what snow was so yeah, I guess you're right.

    The ford F150/250/350 series is similar to Chevy/Gmc/Dodge’s 1500/2500/3500 1500=half ton sig lugs 2500=3/4 ton 8 lugs 3500= 1 ton 8lugs there’s also things called “HD” and “superduty” all different packages you get get for the trucks also don’t tow 12k pounds with a half ton you can tow with a half ton but heavy towing wears down the truck more on a half ton and stopping is a lot harder
