@@4literfandaniel373 -- You are easily impressed. The explanation was good, but it was more mechanics than physics. He just told us where, when, and how the weight was applied. That was purely an explanation of the mechanical apparatus that moves the sled and drops it off its wheels, putting load on the vehicle. Physics would be explaining drag coefficients, normal force, materials composition, shock, strain, stress etc, and most of those are used by mechanics and in engineering, as well...

I agree, I think the problem is the way they pushed EV's on people. Politicians talking about making laws that by 2035 all new cars will need to be EV. If they promoted EV as an alternative for people interested and stopped with the false claims about it being environmentally friendly I think less people would have such a bad attitude about them. Simple truth is EV's simply don't work for a lot of people while they do work for some others. Let the individual decide what is right for them and keep the government out of it.

@@awdeveau I agree with you. The only advantage to having governments set a deadline is that it gives a push to manufacturers, scientists and inventors to develop battery and charging technology that would be a real viable alternative to our current combustion engines and hopefully, even surpass them in range and performance. Thus far, the technology doesn't look as if it is going to materialise before that deadline. In the meantime, I'm sticking to my 3 litre diesel. Whilst I don't think that current battery technology is as green as they are touting, I do advocate that vehicles in cities with heavy traffic congestion be mostly EVs as that would really help to keep the air quality in cities and large towns cleaner and healthier. In that respect, EVs have an important role to play.

I'm not a CyberTruck fan, but I think the results come down to tires and weight. The CyberTruck has plenty of power, but that doesn't mean much if there's no traction. So while I'm happy to see the Ram win, it ultimately doesn't mean as much as people probably want to think.
Also have to say, everyone has such a bias against the CT that I actually find myself rooting for it in a way. The people vocally hating it do so for dumb reasons. I don't think anyone is buying a CT to tow cross-country (and if they do, they're stupid). But having a vehicle with a bed for weekend HomeDepot runs or towing a boat to a nearby lake once in a while is a perfectly legitimate task for a vehicle, and it does that just fine. It's probably better thought of as a modern El Camino.. no one ragged on that for having a low payload/towing capacity, yet the CT will also have the benefit of being better in snow, very quick, and more efficient from an energy-per-mile perspective. Sounds like a worthy vehicle to me..
Also, you gotta give credit to Tesla for actually making something so bold and controversial. Every other truck looks pretty much the same, which is fine, but it's nice to see something break the mold and take a chance once in a while.

@@jebsdaddy141 Yup I would have no beef with EVs if they were not government subsidized.
Government rebates when you buy it, cheaper or free license plates and they don't pay anything towards road maintenance.
If you grow your own corn and turn it in to ethanol and fuel your car with it you still owe the government motor fuel tax for every gallon you use.
Same if you run a diesel on waste oil.
EVs get to use the roads yet pay nothing towards their upkeep.
When and if EVs were ready for prime time people would switch on their own.
They wouldn't have to be bribed with taxpayer money or forced into it because everything else is banned.
The government didn't have to pay people to switch from horses to Model Ts.
Imagine that when Henry Ford built his quadracycle (the car he made before the Model T) the government said "Wow that is great! Let's start killing horses and demand people drive Quadracycles."
That would have been a disaster.
I think the whole "phasing out all ICE by 2030" will be a disaster.
When and if EVs are ready, people will buy them.
For most people they just are not worth it yet.
