- Was the real identity of Jack the Ripper a Whitechapel horse slaughterer named James Hardiman? And if so, could he have committed the Thames Torso Murders as well?
My guest is Dr. Drew Gray, who along with Andrew Wise wrote the book "Jack and the Thames Torso Murders: A New Ripper?" He makes the case for Hardiman as our Jack the Ripper limited series continues.

Loving the Ripper series.
I enjoyed that, interesting. UK, its good that we getting back to realistic Ripper suspects again. Thank you for great writers to put forward their wok here.
Very interesting
The problem with naming a suspect and then trying to shoe horn him into the crime is that you end up playing six degrees of separation. You can literally fit almost anyone in the vicinity of Whitechapel into the crime. This is why we have over 200 suspects.
Ideally we want the evidence to lead to a suspect. We are almost certainly past the point where that can happen but Tom Westcott has tried to do it. It’s lead to some interesting avenues for more research. It is extremely unlikely they will lead to a viable suspect. There is simply too much time gone. But randomly picking suspects and working backwards has universally failed.
The best candidate I’ve ever seen is Aaron Kosminsky. Mostly because you can tie some threads back to him having been an actual suspect at the time. But even that is very tenuous.
Most suspicious lead to me is Pearly Poll. Why would anyone give the police false evidence once, let alone twice involving Ripper murders? Somewhere, someone circling around her, knew the killer.
The ripper was Maybrick
Imo your right fella - I believe if it can be found out why these attacks / murders happened we will still be a thousand miles from who committed them and then which murders did the màn Given the title of jack commit -I believe the 11 victim's in the Whitechapel murders file at least proves their is more than one killer about at that time .
I doubt these women wouldve turned down an Aaron Kosminski type crazy guy. They were drunk, desparate, in need of money. And walking around at night in the first place knowing they could get killed. So they arent being in the least careful anyway.
It's not about " the sort of person "
It's about WHY .
Excellent punk rock album title: “Whitechapel Horse Slaughterer”
There is no evidence that Hardiman was a knacker (horse slaughterer). In fact, in 1888 he was running a cats meat shop in another part of London.
So no actual proof of any kind on Hardeman but alot of we think and assume. Absolute nonsense from the start.
Letchmere
Cat meat for cats not from cats.
Grasping at straws. Married 11 years before conceiving a child. Baby dies, mom dies. Maybe he was sterile, she had affair and got pregnant and syphilis at same time.
The Ripper was Maybrick folks… proven … FACT
yes i can see a film protruding from such Nonsense - I've no idea why you can't ? .
Dr Tumblerty is a better suspect.
How is it proven its Maybrick? I'm genuinely interested. I know about his diary, but it's considered fake.
My landlord’s name is Maybrick Goldfarb.
