    Thank you so much for this video, Brendon. The multicam and how it synced was always a mystery for me as a dude who know nothing about video and now I totally understand why bands don't like to make playthroughs. Sad but fair enough

      Hahaha absolutely. It’s quite a bit of work and making sure that each take is full can get quite annoying. I stress of doing parts. Thanks for watching !

    I'm loving this series so far. I would definitely love to see your approach for filming with an iPhone, too!

      Thank you so much! The last segment is my favourite, the colour grading. I spend so much time in that stage because I love playing with the colours and options. It works the same with iPhone footage as well.
      I’ll have to write a new song to showcase the iPhone video so we’ll see how that goes haha

    my god, thank you for this video brendon. I have been editing all of my footage separately to my main track to a glitchy playback as I shoot in 4k. The multicam and proxy media function alone will save me so much time. what a god send of a video!

      So glad i could help someone out. Yeah honestly proxies save my life with Multicam. Usually my computer can handle 4K but when there are 6 4K clips at once there’s no chance lol

    loved this, exactly what i was looking for. I did most of the things you mentioned and the difference is big, although im shooting with an iphone and not playing around with colors either but filming, lighting and editing made a huge difference.

      Oh that’s awesome. Super glad to hear that. If you’re going to that effort and want to learn the colour grading side of things Resolve has a free version that works great and has most of the studio features

      Thank you so much Mark! Yeah I used to waste a lot of time putting all my files in, manually making them start at the same time and then disabling them one shot at a time but Multicam rules

    Cool. How do you handle cases where you do multi takes in Ableton or logic and then cut and paste the best takes into the track? Do you just not worry about perfect synch with the audio/video or do you switch angles or use other tricks to hide these edits? Or do you just do takes until you get a clean playthrough?

    • @BrendonKPadjasek
      @BrendonKPadjasek  3 месяца назад +1

      Depends. For the most part (I would say 95% of play throughs on RUclips) the audio is pre recorded and you’re playing along and not using the recorded audio at all. I quite honestly can’t remember the last playthrough I saw where the person was playing the actual song

      @@BrendonKPadjasek ahh… the infamous ‘mime’. ;)
      I must have done 30 takes to get a complete guitar play-through that was good, then did the same for bass, then for keyboard etc. it was a frustrating mess for sure. I’m close to just editing a clean track and then miming parts myself. I spent more time recording than learning to play the darned thing! Lol!
      That said, I can swear that Lucas Brar does one takes.

    Just so I'm understanding, you won't typically record a snippet from a given angle, you'll generally record a whole take to avoid the issues syncing?

    • @Wtsmyageagain
      @Wtsmyageagain 6 месяцев назад +1

      Answered my question when you got to the macro section. Let's say I'm covering a song, so I import the song into Reaper and want to make a click track to that song, is there a way to make a metronome in time with the song? I can try to get as accurate as I want with the BPM feature in the project, but it'll of course be out of time after a bit of time.

      @@Wtsmyageagain haha awesome. Yeah Davinci resolve has something gong on with the multicam I wish would be addressed. I think there are open source / free apps or sites to help with bpm matching. I typically do it from scratch

    can I ask, how do you monitor what your cameras are seeing? do you have them routed to like a switch board or something? and have their feed all show up on one tv so you can flip through the angles? or are you walking over to the camera and setting it up then just trusting for the rest of the session that its functioning right, ie recording?

    • @BrendonKPadjasek
      @BrendonKPadjasek  3 месяца назад +1

      I plug it into an hdmi monitor and just go back and forth. But I also started using my Lumix app to press record and to hit the focus button. Super handy

      @@BrendonKPadjasek I see. I’m currently using two cameras at once to capture two angles of the same performance. It’s tedious trying to find the most efficient way to monitor so I’m always looking to see how others do things.

    • @BrendonKPadjasek
      @BrendonKPadjasek  3 месяца назад

      @devourthegalaxy7646 oh yeah that’s likely the best way to do it as the phone app I believe only allows one angle at once. Which camera system are you on?
