Your subscriber ratio is seriously impressive. You make people commit to the metalcore life.
Where's the lyric?
Hey Nik loving the new direction for the channel and the amount of creativity you're bringing. Keep staying awesome
got to definitely do this but with post-hardcore instead
Soooo ummmm when are we getting a full album
Nik turns into a Mad Genius when he's composing. It's genuinely incredible to see
This "creating tracks" stuff is insane, can't wait for the compilation album ngl.
Man I have been working on a metal song (not sure what subgenre it fits into) for well over a year now and I can't play the parts no matter how much I practise. Not to mention my wrist is fucked makes it harder..... he just blew my mind with how quick he made that. Was sick.
@@TheBanana93 keep working on it man and youll get it (:
It's metalcore calm down lol
I can agree, I fuckin love it
That was absolutely amazing, man.Your talent is undeniable
Woah, RUclips always surprises
As a metal lover and an avid 4th gen Max driver, I approve this message.
Damn, Freddie is here? I didn't realize Nik's career needed that much fixing.
I didn't expect to see you here, and yet I'm not at all surprised. 🤘
Wait, you like metal? Epic
Bro if you told me this song was actually dropped 12 years ago and was a forgotten part of my childhood I’d believe it
Oh damn, you're still wet behind the ears aint ya, kid😆
i always randomly get the chorus stuck in my head and try to think what 2000s metalcore song it's from
Congrats on writing an As I Lay Dying song. Sounds great!
100% old school As I Lay Dying.
Minus the f bombs 😂
Also with hints of War of Ages (in my opinion)
I got Miss may i vibes.
Minus all the wanting to kill an ex gf.
I mean.. Taylor isn't an obnoxious piece of shit 🤷
When the first vocals are someone screaming "wake up," you know the song is gonna shake the earth and awake the teenage angst in you
Then you can check "ENOX - Mortar Shell" as well as "ENOX - Radiance", they both start with waking up
Every song that starts with “Wake up” should be an alarm ringtone. Gotta start the day head banging.
I guess I'll be the first to say *cough* SOAD
Unlock your inner rawrXD cringe
@@followingfigures4738 TABLE!
I love that it's the most generic metalcore the song in the world, and it absolutely slaps. Just proves all it needs is a simple formula. It ain't broke.
Sometimes I just need a banger
Its classic quote , if it aint broken dont fix it
Absolutely, sometimes going different just to be different doesn't hit as hard
@@Sku11zDude Sometimes prog can actually get kind of annoying if they're purposely doing that. Prog for the sake of being prog. Like you said. As long as you have fun with it and you make it sound like what's sounds good to you, then it's gonna be good.
Good metalcore is like good fast food
5:13 dude, He got the Oliver Sykes vocals right there. That is spot on!
Many real bands never wrote a song this good.
They don't embrace the 578 😔
Literally every As I Lay Dying track from the 2000s.
Honestly should do a whole album just like this....just raw and thrown together on a stream. Guarantee it would get a ton of listens.
Do that first of october type thing and make it from scratch on stream. 12 hr stream
I would watch 100% of that
sh!t 🤘🤘
Do iiiiit! I love the new metalcore but the 2000s are just the best.
@@thekydman01 I would watch that, just like I have every other FoO video 🤣
It's 2006, I'm driving to college at 7:30am blasting some AILD with buddies. Minimal responsibility, life is good and the music of the era is even better. This song sent me right back.
Hey that’s me going to high school! Awnnn
Ugh this hits too hard. Do you have chronic neck pain too?
@@dinklebamp yes😅
That was the year I was knees deep in metal! Chimaira, bleeding through, throw down, static x, in flames and so much more lol
Generic or not, this song is fucking sick. I'd love to see the two of you put out a whole album of this "generic trash" you seemed to make in a couple hours max.
Extra points if you continue to livestream the process. This type of content is great.

@@mrmicksicksux W reply
Please name the album "generic trash" as well
Generic in metal is too good though
absolute need
578 is literally why I got into metalcore. One of the main reasons why metalcore is my favorite genre. Along with breakdowns and blast beats. And lows. And cleans. And guitar solos.
Taylor makes screams/growls look absolutely effortless...like it's his default mode! Killer song, guys!
Pretty underrated if you ask me
I’m a simple person: I see Nik having fun righting songs - smashing like button!
Same and this isn't even necessarily my type of metal.
thank god he ain't lefting songs 🤣
@@andrei-ioancucos2759 THIS COMMENT
@@andrei-ioancucos2759 thank god he isnt wronging songs
@@commit123 hahahahaha dead.
Dude just casually wrote the most generic metalcore song he could possibly think of as a joke and it still slaps
Helps that Taylor is a beast.
The only thing that would have made it more generic would have been cleans in the chorus with no abrasion whatsoever, which was one of AILD's biggest traits and one of the things they absolutely popularized, regardless of who invented that.
I like the grit in Taylor's 'cleans', and he gets deep as a Hollywood stylist's closet when he wants to.
The golden age of metalcore. I want more of this. Call me “basic” but I LOVE this shit! 2000’s metalcore is the GOAT 🐐🤘
Dude. That chorus made me feel like I was listening to a BMTH/Bad Omens song! You gotta do more shit like this.
BRO I FELT THE SAME HAHAHAHAJAHA
Same Same my dude.
I got heavy Born of Osiris vibes from the chorus, but I definitely ain’t complaining lol
Bit of Parkway Drive vibes too
the 8-5-0-3 is in bmth's song "sleepwalking", I couldn't stop hearing the similarity
I know he always says he sucks, but the dude a genius composer. Making entire songs that are REALLY GOOD pretty much over one stream is incredible. If bands could do this, we’d have like 6 new albums per year from everyone lol.
Bands can write songs pretty fast, they usually don't do it because they're busy touring and/or don't want to write the same songs over and over.
@@RafaelCDet and plus good bands try not to sound like everything else lol
Song fucking slaps
Keep in mind he does different styles as well
@@RafaelCDet true true, but Nik can literally make a song from any metal genre (or turn non metal into metal) into a sick metal track in one day. Most bands can’t do that as a group, let alone a single person
It sounds like if August Burns Red made a Killswitch Engage song featuring members of As I Lay Dying 😂. It sounds amazing!
I HOPE ALL BANDS DO THIS BEFORE THEY RELEASE A SONG 😂😂
btw the riffs sounds very "As I Lay Dying"
All metalcore sounds like as I lay dying, let's be honest here
I love metalcore, core kid for life but i can admit that everything sounds the same
The truth of my perception to be exact
@@loganstrickler they don’t tho, otherwise all metalcore would be good lol
@@playdiscgolf1546 yea, obviously not all metalcore sounds like as I lay dying, and tbf it is also a very big umbrella to fit under, but the majority of it does all kinda sound the same
There's not a lot of creativity anymore like there was when it first came out
As someone who has absolutely no understanding of how to write music this seems like some kind of wizardry. Nik you are amazing. Love the vocals too.
It may be cliché, it may be "generic", but damn....this slaps. Maybe it's because I was so late to the whole metalcore thing, but I dig this so much.
Same here but I love 578 metalcore.
How does Nik make this sheer melodic powerhouse of a song look so effortlessly casual ?!
The same way that other human beings do it.
Music theory comprehension, mastery of the instruments he plays, and awesome recording software and hardware.
Dude, once you have enough songs for an album, call it Low Effort and toss it out there. This shit is great!
This song perfectly captures 2000s metalcore. Bravo, guys!
Holy shit. He is the most talented generic metal guitarist with exceptional composer skills to sound like everyone else but staying unique and fresh. The 2000 saluted you from the past! cheers mate, what a banger.
4:14 bust out my sides laughing. Really, why do metalcore songs somehow always have a variation of "circling the water" lyrics. I love it. Don't change it.
Please KEEP creating this type of content, also you gift us with incredible songs!!
Dude this kinda new direction you're going in with more producing/composing is seriously amazing. It's so entertaining watching you make awesome music whilst also being your stupid self. What a combination
I think goofy is a better word instead of stupid 😬
I’m slowly getting into the modern metalcore scene. Mostly a Melo-death person now but mannnn 2000s metalcore will ALWAYS have my heart. Generic or not, this was a banger man! Loved every second of it.
The "Speak to me" part is actually catchy af
WHAT A COLLAB! Taylor is probably the most underrated metal vocalist around rn!
i agree 100%!!! vocals are absolutely monstrous!
I don’t think anyone would say he’s underrated lol. Everyone knows he’s one of the best out right now
The writing, producing, making, gear and anything involving music creation have always and will always be my favourite Nik videos! If you’re getting back into them I couldn’t be happier. This one especially was an absolute banger!😊
Nik just played my entire childhood out in 8.29 minutes. Well done, good sir. Well done indeed.
Taylor is such a sick vocalist! ❤
His name is Kyle
5:48 "Time stood still, the way did before, bring out the worst in meeeeee. And now it's come to end, I think I'm giving in, it's like I'm sleeeeeep waaaaalkiiiiing!!!"
Nik is downplaying the song but it actually is sick! I’d love to hear a whole EP in this style but with some more spice added.
Dude, when you said that you are going to be giving music for the people to consume, I didn’t know that you were going to drop such huge bangers like 578 and Moan. They are easily at the top of my modern metal Spotify playlist
This song got such killswitch engage vibes and I'm all for it
Didn't know As I Lay Dying published a new song. 😄
Jokes aside, this is a straight up banger. The riffs, the solo, the drums, the vocals, the literally everything. Simply every single part I love about early/mid 2000 metalcore. Goes right up on my playlist! More please. Your talent is undeniable. 🤘
Please don't be afraid to write more music. You're really good at it. No one will complain I promise
Agreed
I love the fact that you made that decision of making more music and finishing it into full songs. I added this one to my playlist. Can't wait for other songs that you will be putting out!
Nik totally could make his own fame just by making song on his own. Totally genius composer. It's totally modern metalcore. This are really talent!
I'm pretty sure that Nik is able to make an entire album with Chat next to him. This is so sick!! 🔥🔥🔥
No matter how being humble is a virtue, I never wanna hear this guy downplay himself again 💀 cuz this was SICKK⚡⚡ and holy shit the vocals were 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I definitely get some Sempiternal BMTH vibes especially with the more singing vocals and also some heavier stuff in there. Very nice song
Once again you prove what an absolute genius you are! And Taylor's vocals are amazing! So glad you got him on this track. Please do more of this!
Man, I love Taylor, seems like a such fun guy and Nik is really good at making stuff too.. Also 7:33 to 7:50, someone should make gifs of Taylor just vibing to everything, its so perfect...
Turns out when you study a genre and have mastery over vocals and guitars, you can keep up with the best artists in the genre! Good job Nik!
I love it for 2 reasons.. First it's generic just like I like it... It is an archetype of build up and rage and victory... Overcoming... The becoming.
The second reason.. You said you wanted to be more yourself and create more and you're rocking the shit out of this thing man... I want to congratulate you and motivate you to keep going.
Thank you for sharing the whole process... Well fucking done.
This is freaking wild!! I love this song and the way you “smash” the chemistry of the art!
I wasn't expecting taylor to be on this track, my man goes so hard in metalcore too
Whattt theeee FuuuuuHHH man 🔥🔥 that was Great !!! BARBER IS JUST EVERYWHERE AND DESTROYS EVERYTHING HES ON 👌 💥
Always hyped when we get to hear a full song from you Nik! Amazing work and that vocalist is insanely good too! This song goes HARD
I rememer it as if it was just last week when I first heard this song back in summer of 2007. 20 years old, the world ahead of me. We were sitting on the shore of the lake and the solo hit as the sun was setting down behind the mountains, covering the sky in a goldish hue. Wasted, happy, and careless. Thank you for bringing back this classic.
So proud to see Taylor in this collab. I’ve had the opportunity to play a couple shows with Left to Suffer and they are all talented and humble people.
Also this was not generic at all bro, I can tell how much passion and creativity went into it. Please do not downplay your talent!!
Generic =/= bad. Riffs are cool, it sounds great, vocals are awesome, but in terms of originality... Well, it's a whole lot of 2000s metalcore panels put together. It's like comfort food, you've had it a million times, but you're gonna love it for the 2 millionth time just as much.
It was extremely generic lol. You must not listen to much metalcore if you haven’t heard all those ideas a million times before. He did them very well though.
@@M4RCi92 Generic maybe nicer to say traditional like a lot of what WWE wrestlers do is traditional or what works on crowds but they put a lot of their heart into it and nobody calls them generic wrestlers because they do all that work into making their own style, I think Nik did that here.
It was meant to be generic lmao. That was the whole point. Still great tho
@@goldengrill769 I don't watch WWE, so I can't really say much about that. But again, generic by itself isn't an inherently negative word, it just means that a thing doesn't really stand out from a crowd of similar things. And if that crowd happens to be quality 2000s metalcore songs with meaty riffs, well-executed vocals, and a solid sound, then being generic is a compliment. I don't see why Nik would take offense at the word if it describes what he created perfectly. :)
I love the work you do and I follow this vocalist from Left to suffer too; I think you guys have done an incredible job. Vocals were really fire (he really did an amazing job with the variations and his uniqueness) and the instrument were amazing enough to not get burnt by it.
This is actually amazing. 578 will never die. 👏
Really loving these how to write vids Nik. Gives old vibes with awesome twists with modern vocals.
Which Taylor did incredible in this.
This whole track is fire, but that chorus is superb. 🔥🔥🔥
Another incredible banger is born! And these vocals are damn sick!
An amazing collab with Taylor! Hope to see more stuff from you guys
As someone who toured in Core bands back in the day, great job!
a blegh, a breakdown and a solo. we are truly blessed by the genius in Nik. I almost broke my chair when the breakdown hit cause those early 2000s mosh moves came out of this old man.
I don't care if it's supposed to be super generic, that shit slaps and I'm streaming it, you can't stop me
Been listening on spotify finally watching the video and you guys are killin it much love
Ngl, I'm just happy you seem to be enjoying yourself. I remember seeing your video about wanting to make more music. So that idea being rewarded makes me happy.
Actually incredible. Love to see other composers "composing" live. It really shows the addictive beauty of creating music!
Absolutely
Oh my god... why is this so good? Damn bro, you are extremely talented
Really liked your video where you explained that you would like to expand further into writing songs, and to see the full Deftones song, and now the full metalcore song published really makes me happy for you success. I’m really hoping that you’ll do full songs of all the shorts series, especially the prog and Metallica songs. Keep rooting for you
This is really cool! Keep on rocking Nik..I enjoy your videos!
I got to interview Taylor on my podcast a while back, he's a cool dude with alot of talent. Can't wait to see him keep getting the love and recognition it deserves
we need to bring back 5-7-8 riffs in 2023
AILD is working on a new record rn soooooo 👀
Bring back old parkway drive and tell them to stop making butt rock
Cool to hear. All the super low modern metal is cool, but stuff like this always gets me hyped up. Lots of nostalgia also...
Love this, can't wait for more songs! Amazing shit honestly and it's super interesting to see the process as well!
Not going to lie sounds very good. You should do a compilation album. Lol
Loving this “new” direction with you writing more original stuff! You have so much talent and it seems like you are genuinely having a good time doing it! Don’t stop! This is so much fun!
Nik keep heading in this direction . As a pretty fresh subscriber (bout 4-5 months ago) I knew you could play guitar but you kept I'd say 90% of your musical talent tucked away . Can't wait to see more you're deepening my love for this music .
That is the BEST riff I've heard in my life
Need more tracks asap. Too good!
Nik is great and we all know that, but holy fuck Taylor rawrs are something else
Love the whole song, especially the chorus, breakdown and solo. Approved!
This song SLAPS! Nik, you're one incredibly talented dude. Thanks for sharing this with us!
It’s been so fun to see you having fun making and releasing music.
More of this! I love these kinda videos❤️
Loving these new videos Nik man. You're back playing music and you still have this funny talk show thing you got going on. Now this is entertainment buddy. 👏
🔥🔥🔥 Please make a whole album like this!
Nik writes a song for jokes and in probably 20 minutes and it’s fucking leagues beyond anything I’ve ever written 😂🤘
I'm really loving this song composing and releasing with vocals! You're awesome man and Taylor Barber is one of my favorite modern vocalists, he fit perfectly!
Such wizardry, you just sent me back to the 2000's, and good sire, this is f*cking fabulous ! Don't stop what you do !
This channel is pure gold, keep up the good work
I love how you said in one of your videos that you missed playing and composing music and as soon as you came back to doing so you seem so much more excited and happy about making videos, and it shows. Good for you man, can't wait to see more videos like this!
Much love ❤
I love Taylor's vocals so much
Nik! That was amazing! You and Taylor are monsters together! 🔥🔥💪💪🤘🤘 I’m saving this for repeat purposes! 😁
having Taylor on this 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 the best ever!!! nailed it 💯 great job!
this was sick! also loved seeing Taylor vibe to your solo, that's what support looks like
I love metalcore but even I can admit that every metalcore song ever sounds exactly like this
every metalcore song? casual don't know a lot of metalcore
@@IqbalMunahar ok, obviously not every metalcore song, but all of the generic bands that stole as I lay dying's sound, metalcore is a very broad genre with a shit load of different sounds, but I'm mostly just talking abt the stuff where its just 5 guys with beards playing generic 5-7-8 riffs in an abandoned warehouse with just a wall of sound where the singer is just yelling some generic shit about being sad or something with that little half step progression down for the chorus and the bassist is mostly just there so that they can pretend that they have a full band even though they aren't fooling anyone and everyone can tell he's just there so that they can look like they know what they're doing
Basically all the bands that took Asking Alexandria's sound and fused it with As I Lay Dying
I didn't know 5-7-8 is a thing, and I can already recall some songs I know from the sequence 😂
