Tata motors should focus on EVs only... may be they could get it right, as all ICE cars made by Tata till date are not up to the standards set by other manufacturers...!!!
I owned an XT 4X2, which I drove for 1.5 lakh kilometers before being involved in a severe accident that led the insurance company to declare it a total loss. Despite the severity of the crash, I walked away without a single scratch. People considering Maruti vehicles should take a look at the pictures from that accident and reconsider their safety features and the value of their own lives.
We have a 2017 Hexa XTA. What a car! The engine, the transmission, the suspension, the space, the speakers.... A true package, one that will be difficult to upgrade from. Have done multiple 2000kms+ drives in it. It's just supremely comfortable. Still running strong at 1.05 lakh kms
I was accumulating money to buy this beast. Apparently I was too late. Today I am an owner of a Tata Harrier BS6, which is a damn good car - but a car nonetheless. Harrier does not have the "BEAST SUV" factor. I have to say, it was the hangover of the Hexa aura that made me buy the Harrier. As usual, great content by EVO.
I echo your thoughts.. drove a hexa of my colleague way back in end 2017.. felt amazing.. was contemplating buying this beast.. i guess, took too much time in deciding and it went off the market. Ended up buying harrier.. still get heartburns whenever see a hexa on-road.. i wish i shouldn't have taken so much time in deciding.. 😢
Finally! haha, my dad kept asking when will evo make a video on the Hexa! Our family once did an entire northeast tour (7 people + rooftop carrier luggage) in our XT Manual 4x2 and it was absolutely flawless. Still runs excellently, only that Tata has completely dropped support for possibly their best SUV in the last ten years. I still think it looks better than the current Tata range as well. Love this car.

I had a hexa xta until 2019. Then upgraded to a discovery sport. Honestly the ride quality, the build and the user experience of the Hexa is so close to the discovery sport. Fantastic product it was..
Looking at the Scorpio-N these days, Tata Motors would really really have a winner in their hands if they resurrected the Hexa in perhaps a new Avatar. What a fantastic and desirable product. I will never forget myself drool and turn my head in admiration and awe looking at a Hexa on the road. I always did, and I still do. Harriers and Safaris of today are fantastic! But the Hexa will always hold a special place in our hearts. Hopefully I get to see it once again in the market and under my ownership in this lifetime before I die. Cheers Sirish! Thanks for the lovely episode
I am the proud owner of a 2018 Hexa XT 4x4, and it holds a special place in my heart. Despite its age and the 1,20,000 kilometers it has traveled, it continues to serve me with pride and reliability.
Great video episode, thanks. have 2017 XM urban bronze edition, about 90k and still going strong. Survived a flood in 2022, i could not give up my hexa even after dealer asked to declare total loss, resurrected and got it back on road in prime condition. It was a personal connection i could not give up. We both still going strong....what a car tata made, last of its kind.
When the Hexa was launched I was 11 years old , from that time I was a huuuuuuuge fan of Hexa . Even today whenever I spot a Hexa I just stare at the car . This was a piece of gem by Tata Motors. Now they won’t bring Hexa back , focus on FWD Monocoque chassis “SUV” and Electric cars. Please BRING BACK THE HEXA
Thanks for mentioning me in the video 🙃. And as for the 19 inch tyres I've had no issues but yeah as you say gotta keep the tyre pressures at specified and then all is good. And yup yup no rattles at all and the car hasn't been 'babied' at all. 1,80,000 kms and counting
Proud owner of Hexa. This is the first car I bought with my money and gifted it to my father. Nothing can match the comfort of Hexa. As of now, I drive XUV700 and I still say that Hexa is way ahead in terms of comfort and drivability.
Proud (second) owner 2018 Hexa Downtown Edition (XTA). It really gives the confidence in any condition. The previous owner draw for 94k in 5yrs. Never faced issue with tyres. Not even a puncture. He changed twice (every 45k). I have it since 1.5yrs and draw around 14k.
2018? Do you have the hexa with the 7 inch system? They gave it for a short time before they discontinued it. Great system, way better than the connectnext system.
I own a Hexa 2019 XMA (autobox) variant. Have done over 70k kms. I drove every possible SUV/MPV at that time and nothing came close to the performance of this autobox (in the 15-25 lakh price range). Knowing very well it wil be discontinued i went in for this. Comfort is next level. Cabin feel is soo spacious. Buld quality... 5star. Absolutely no rattling and is a total tank. Changed my alloys to 16" Plati and Yokohama AT 255, 55 tyres. Just an awesome vehicle
In 2017, I wanted to buy the XTA variant of this car, but I couldn't afford it. I visited several showrooms to test drive the vehicle. Each time, I made up stories to convince the sales representatives that I was a potential customer to get a test drive. Fortunately, with God's blessings, I now drive a VOLVO XC90 with all the bells and whistles. Thanks Sirish, for the wonderful video; it took me back to my old days.
the hexa feels like a cousin to my safari storme of the same year (2017). everything you said about weight and the butch suv feel that makes you feel safe no matter what craziness is brewing outside is so very true! tata used to make such legendary and incredible vehicles. their no-nonsense take on the earlier "flagships" is such a distant concept to manufacturers today. skimping out on the build of the vehicle for some fancy electronics that barely serve purpose apart from filling out the spec sheet with the introduction of stricter fuel norms and spec sheet obsession the days of cheap iron are gone. i would love to see a safari storme or even a dicor episode of this series!

Fantastic video, as an owner of the 2017 XTA, the video just reminded me of how rich the vehicle is in terms of driving dynamics, comfort and features, kitted up pretty close to a Q7 of similar vintage. Thanks @evoIndia ! About the 19 inchers, I think the flaw here was more about not providing an integrated TPMS than the tyres themselves, which probably made it difficult maintaining the right pressures. We've had a TPMS installed throughout and it ran on stock rims and tyres without any issues.
@@evoIndia this is an amazing series. Very good idea. For ethusiats it is all about emotion, you are catering to it perfectly. Shirish is an excellent presenter. His admiration for Adil is great to see.
Sirish, thank you for curating such an amazing series that truly touches the heart. Your passion for these machines is evident. Regarding the Hexa, I believe it was an excellent product, and Tata should have continued it in its original form. While many prefer SUVs, I’m sure there were also traditional MPV buyers who would have chosen the Hexa. Maintaining a platform alongside Omega Arc would have been challenging, but it could have kept the Hexa name alive. Tata could take a cue from Mahindra and bring back 4x4 low-range gearboxes, which would truly align with the "Reclaim your life" philosophy.
I own a Harrier today, but I am still in awe of this Hexa. The looks are so good and stance is head turner. The build quality and the outer bumper plastic quality is far superior than todays cars. I didn't know Pratap bose has designed the Hexa too, until I watched this video. He has really uplifted the Tata's portfolios design lineup. But I do not agree the same with his work now in Mahendra.
7:09 in 2019, Tata Motors updated the touchscreen system of Hexa with a bigger display unit that had Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. It was the same touchscreen unit as what we see today in Tigor.
Great episode! Well said Sirish. Please try to get an episode done on the VW Jetta for the next episode. It’s truly a gem which car guys can never forget.
People saying 'Tata killed their legacy cars' are the same ones who ran to buy Koreans, Fords, and Marutis back then. Indians killed off one of the best homegrown car, and now they cry because Tata only makes FWDs. The irony is off the charts. Classic Indian trait. Peace. (Oh, and I sold my Hexa 1.5 years ago after racking up 83,537 km., Had a few minor issues, but they were easy to overlook given the exceptional driving experience.)
the love towards feature comforts of indians killed those mechanical beasts .. and sadly those companies also was forced to turn towards making tins cans ... but thank god that tata and m&m did go for cheap metal
You're complaining about people not buying tata cars, tatas had a very bad reputation overall, no one in their right mind would spend so much on an unreliable product, didn't you mention you too sold your car, why was that ? You could've lived with the minor issues you were having.
You guys should do a video on the Tata Bolt and Zest, too. Because those were also as good as the Hexa in their particular categories. I had a 2015 Tata Bolt XMS Diesel. It was an amazing car with features like 8 speaker Harman Sound System, LED information cluster, bottle tray below co-driver seat, height adjustable seats, adjustable steering wheel, floating roof, leatherette steering wheel, illuminated window switches on all doors, spacious cabin, good mileage( maximum got upto 25km/l), great performance, 9th Gen Bosch ABS with EBD and CSC, quality interiors, the seats which you've talked about the Hexa even we experienced it on the Bolt too. It had amazing seats and suspension that even if we traveled in that car for hours, still we won't get tired or have any other issues, and also the car was very reliable too. I always wanted to drive that car until my dad sold it in 2020 because of some other issues, and when I turned 18 and got my license, the one thing I missed was my BOLT. Now, my family has a Tata Punch, Suzuki Baleno, Citroën ec3, and after driving these cars, none of them were able to replace that Tata Bolt vibe in my heart.(Also, having a 2009 Mahindra Bolero, which is different in its own league).
Sirish, I became a fan of Ritz car when you reviewed the Ritz car when it was launched. I bought my Ritz in March 2012 and still going great. Very happy after the car clocked 100000 + kms. Thank You so much.
Amazing video. I have the 2018 XT and this vehicle needs to come back. Hope somebody from TATA is looking at this video and rethinks to resurrect it. Some corrections - Twin exhausts are NOT dummy. It became later when the exhaust system was replaced due to breakage and replaced under warranty. Mine still has the twin exhausts. No issues with R19, they are still running well. I love it and intend keeping it till whenever I can.
Owning this fantastic car for the last 7 years, driven more than 125000 KMs...Nothing to complain, only pride and satisfaction. Tata should consider to bring it back
Back in 2017 I had a CRDE Thar. We went to Tata Motors for buying a Tigor for my sister. I saw the top model Hexa. I can’t explain the feeling I still get. Hell, even the name Hexa and the font oozes differentiated class. Tata ought to bring back such models and engineering.
We have a ‘17 hexa xt. A tree fell on its roof and bonnet in a storm. One month of repairs and it’s good as new. Build quality for the money is still phenomenal. Never had any issues with its 19” tires, it’s just that the turbo lag is annoying. Wish more people had bought it so it wouldn’t have been discontinued.
I own one of the very last 2019 Hexa XT with 17 inch tyres. I hv completed 93,500 kms till date. Still gives 18.5 + kmpl fe. Comfort is next level and you feel extremely safe inside while driving. Inspite of being a tall vehicle there is hardly any body roll. There are very few drawbacks - very heavy steering, turbo lag below 1500 rpm, poor lights etc. I intend to keep it for at least 5 more years.
The tyre issue was because of the rubbers used in that stock MRF WANDERER tyres. I switched to Yokohama and it got resolved plus I got 5 years replaceable warranty as well, never had to use it though. All are working amazing. MRF couldn’t crack 19 inch tyres for such a heavy machine
In my TCS offc parking lot there is one top end hexa always parked and people always walked by and check the spacious interiors , the size of car and that loevely blue color shade...they still think tata would bring this beast again..😊
Proud Owner of XT... Going strong with 1.5L Km on Odo... Last month, invested one lakh and replaced worn-out parts!! Will keep it for another 3/4 years ❤
I just buy the tata hexa XT 4x4 varient for 10.60 Lakh. It is amazing car. I drove only 3000 km but with complete 💯% satisfaction. Tata should bring it back.
I own a 2018 Hexa XM, 73000+ kms done! Let me share my experience with pros and cons. PROS: 1. Suspension and ride comfort- Nothing and I repeat nothing in 2 segments above can still beat the Hexa in this. It's unbelievably cushioned and planted on bumps. 2. Space- I am 6'2 and almost everyone in my family is above 5'7, and we all sit like kings and queens. It's like a ship on the road. Such huge cupholders and cubby holes. 3. Stability on highways- In straight line it can continue to sustain 100-110kmph for hundreds of kilometres at a stretch without any nuisance. CONS: 1. Fatal Turbo Lag- No matter how great and powerful this may seem on a highway, Hexa is not meant for regular drivers on mountain roads. You have to drive it like a truck especially on hairpins without losing the car's momentum or this will not climb! If you're stuck in a standstill on a climb, the turbo lag won't let you climb easily even in 1st gear. 2. Poor Power to weight ratio- For a car weighing 2.3 tons 400 Nm torque feels insufficient on mountains at times, especially hairpins. Make sure you have a clear turn with 2nd gear engaged on turns or you will regret. 3. Sudden part failures- Tata's quality issues are well known and Hexa is no different. Sudden battery failure, clutch plate failure, fiddling power window switches, gaping glove box are a common with most Hexa owners. In total I love the car for what it is, but it's not meant for regular drivers. HEXA is meant for the true manual old school enthusiasts and not for today's sophisticated car buyers.
Bring body on frame and 4x4 is a distant dream. They should get rid of the after sales, fit and finish and rusting issues before that.. From a tata owner
For me too, Hexa was a desirable SUV, but have read so many horror stories of parts failure and spares availabilty esp freewheel clutch plate if I recall correctly put me off. I haven't sat in one but I took test drive of Aria and its suspension was really good. I don't regret that decision.
This car is still not available in the pre-own car market. It’s one of the best car which Tata made. I seriously don’t understand why people don’t like this beast.
Hexa is just another example of Indians disliking Indian products no matter how well engineered it is, can't blame Indian consumers either, we tend to seek value proposition and sometimes get overboard with that. Great content as always Sirish, can you feature Hyundai Santa Fe on this series, though it's gone and forgotten but was a good car after all.
The only car which had given the mighty XUV 500 a scare. The X2 platform was a real benchmark in ride comfort be it both the safari dicor/storme or hexa.
I owned a Tata Aria from 2015 to 2020. The Last batch. Did 1.25 lakh kms. Enjoyed every km. The comfort was unmatched. Sold it. Wanted to buy Hexa XTA but before I could mobilize money, the last car in TML factory was sold in December 2020. Bought Tata Harrier BS6. Till today, regret selling my Aria. TML should consider relaunching the Hexa. Sirish, please take this up with TML. You can certainly make a recommendation.
I had one XT 4X4.... NO WORD'S TO SAY... BUT LACK OF DEAD PEDAL, LACK OF CENTRAL CONSOLE STORAGE AND SOME PANEL GAP AS USUAL... VERY HEAVY VEHICLE... IF THIS BEAST HAD 4X4 WITH AUTOMATIC IT WILL BE NEXT LEVEL
Its a memory of 2019, the Harrier was just launched. I went to the Tata dealership to book a Hexa XZ Automatic. I took a test drive, and seat comfort was something I have never experienced and yet to. Even in those 19inch wheels, the Hexa rode like a cloud. But, somethings are never meant to be. I was offered a test drive of the fresh new Harrier. The moment I stepped closer, the design and colour choice of the interior blew me away. It is not as comfortable as the Hexa and can't be. But, it was better handler and it had a presence.
One of the greatest cars Tata left to die. My neighbour has one and im hell jelous with those massive 19 inchers and it looked macho and the car is just stupandibulous! Regarding the ratteling sound, i have 5yr opd nexon 1.5 lac km driven on baddest worst of roads and still the cabin do not rattle. I think new Tata cars are hell reliable too but yes the bad service gives them a bad mouth. Hope to see such wonderful cars from Tata in future.
Awesome video on the Hexa! You guys should totally do one on the Maruti Suzuki Kizashi a 2.5L petrol engine, 6-7 kmpl mileage, and ₹16L on road. It was ahead of its time, but those who could afford it didn’t want a Maruti. Could make for an interesting story!
This was my dream car, by the time I saved enough to buy the 4*4 variant, it was discontinued. I still love this car & it breaks my heart to miss buying this beast, whenever i see it on the road. Some well maintained models are available in 2nd hand market but they all have high mileage, 100k and above. Surprisingly this tata has held its resale value pretty well, all listings are at least 8 L so ,not buying one there either.
Hexa showed how basic Tata has become now. When we were planning to buy hexa, it was one of the best back then in terms of value for money, the base didn't feel like a base variant, lot of features etc. Still remember being shocked to see projector lights and comfy seats. Right now Tata base don't even come with a basic stereo which u spend 15+ lakhs.
We were looking at purchasing a XUV500 back in 2017, this is one of the other options we looked at. Initially I was not convinced, but the moment I got in it was so spacious and felt upmarket. However Mahindra was Mahindra and we went with the xuv500. Don’t regret it even a bit.

Ours is the top end model and he is showing the base model of the car😊
The twin exhausts were discontinued in the 2019 facelift. Along with a few other items
you should find and check a 2020 Tata Hexa, the last ones produced , they are the best, all issues fixed , no reliabilty issues, I happen to own one .
We're glad that you enjoyed watching this one. Thank you for the suggestion. We shall try to do an episode on the Jetta soon.
@@bablusonavne384 i still own a sumo man ..its a reliable 3litre ..
Which variant and how much did you sell for?
I'm on the lookout for one..
Tatas Service and even there sales man are shitty .. they cant even explain why I should Buy there car..
❤ Hexa! Own a 2018 XTA, done only 26k kms 🙈 What a vehicle 👌🏽
XT owner. 2019 model. 60k done. Gonna keep it as much as I can ❤
Watching it proudly with tears in my eyes. It was the best decision that I ever took. Proud owner of 6 yr old HEXA the Tank.
We wish you many more happy miles and memories with it :)
Wish this video never ended! I've always loved the Hexa. Wish I was able to afford it when it was available in the market.
Still remember that day when I had a test ride with my dad. It was such an epitome of comfort.
7 years 52000km, only one tyre failure and still the running 19inches. It's as good as new till date. Great decision for me😊
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the suggestion :)
Sirish, I became a fan of Ritz car when you reviewed the Ritz car when it was launched. I bought my Ritz in March 2012 and still going great. Very happy after the car clocked 100000 + kms.
Thank You so much.
Thanks for sharing
Thanku Mr sirish🤝
HEXA in Gone...But not forgotten👌GEM 💎
Mr. Pratap Bose Nailed the ❤️Design❤️
Thank you.
Thank you Captain Rohit. And, thanks for sharing this information with us.
Driving Hexa XT fully loaded, proudly. Still people miss it to own one. Tata should bring it back and let me tell you they will not regret it.
19:20 some people often do call the Hexa as the dark horse of Tata Motors
Drove from Chennai to Mumbai in flat 22 hours in my Hexa. What a pleasure
This was an awesome product - Wud be great to have this back , with new features and pricing being affordable
Owning this fantastic car for the last 7 years, driven more than 125000 KMs...Nothing to complain, only pride and satisfaction. Tata should consider to bring it back
It was way ahead of its time. Still looks fresh sad its not available now.
I got my second hand hexa just a month ago and I love it ❤
How about spare part availability and after sales service? Have you checked on the same
Back in 2017 I had a CRDE Thar. We went to Tata Motors for buying a Tigor for my sister. I saw the top model Hexa. I can’t explain the feeling I still get. Hell, even the name Hexa and the font oozes differentiated class. Tata ought to bring back such models and engineering.
Actually the latest hexa xt 4x4, 4x2 came with 18 inched alloys. The last true tank from Tatamotors.
A great episode and a beautiful series, Sirish and Team! Hope the Duster AWD k9k finds a place someday in this beautiful series. :)
This design language of hexa alongwith the altroz' front fascia is just timeless. It will never get boring
Its such an Irony that the same channel criticized the car for what it offered back then.
Looking at so many positive comments tata should produce hexa with limited nos. And sell will be a grt homage to this legend.
Childhood dreams but now had to live with safari and harrier hope HEXA 4X4 army model makes a comeback 💜
Tata hexa and tata safari strome these two legends are always in my heart, tata should relaunch these two beast again
one of my favourite car from TATA...
3:50 bro is dead inside
Never letting go of this Humble beast. Proud owner of an Urban Bronze XT.
The last and only SUV from Tata after Safari that i loved a lot...❤
Content of this Channel is way ahead of all other channels in the segment
Appreciate your kind words :)
Awesome hexa, I own this beast. one and the best ever made vehicle and value for money….. Nothing beats the beast.
I am HEXA owner, Done 89K KM on it. it still is a great car and feels like a giant when driving.....
Tavera.. a real legend in terms of the number of Units it sold, and also a reliable engine.. we still see those on the roads..
Do check out the GBNF episode on Tavera here: ruclips.net/video/K6aKqugjbF8/видео.htmlsi=sqtzxv2h_6SsjD-n
Proud Owner of XT... Going strong with 1.5L Km on Odo... Last month, invested one lakh and replaced worn-out parts!! Will keep it for another 3/4 years ❤
Awesome! We hope you make many more happy memories with it :)
I had driven hexa 1,97,564 KM still stunning comfortable
Mahindra made monocoque look like an SUV (XUV500) whereas Tata made a ladder frame look like an MPV.
The best design MPV that, Tata ever made. the power with 400nm torque and tank like build quality.hope Tata will relaunch this beast...
Don't think this will happen.
If Hexa is launched in current times, I would directly go for it.. But sadly I don’t think it will happen
PROS:
CONS:
Hexa is gem. I wanted to buy hexa but since it got discontinued I brought harrier. But hexa was value for money car .
Remembering the visionary man late Mr. Cyrus Pallonji Mistry for his contribution in Tata motors❤
Benny if you need help blink twice 😂😂
Haa haa haaa 😅😅😅
Lovely comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes... We sending our Negotiation Team 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
@@mitetparon8695 😂😂😂
lol
Perfect HEXZILLA is my beast's name, and YES....I....LOVE....IT....SO...MUCH.....HEXA is a fabulous product and truly headturner for sure...❤
GREAT THROWBACK 😊
Since the perception about Tata cars have been changed a lot, relaunching Hexa should be a success.
Still own XT 2017 manual … Superb drive … lit bit lag in electronic but the drive is fabulastic ❤
Thanks for sharing
The Sport mode on the Automatic is crazy. Too crazy for the braking to handle.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, we will make an episode on the Kizashi aswell
Just got it day before yesterday thanks for doing this Evo India..
Our pleasure!
2 exhaust are working &genuine 🔥
We were looking at purchasing a XUV500 back in 2017, this is one of the other options we looked at. Initially I was not convinced, but the moment I got in it was so spacious and felt upmarket.
However Mahindra was Mahindra and we went with the xuv500.
Don’t regret it even a bit.
